Should You STOP SUBOXONE AT 2MG??

  • Stopping Suboxone can be very difficult.
At least if you're trying to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Most of my patients prefer the low and slow taper method. But when do you actually stop the Suboxone?
    Well that depends.
I prefer to get my patients to a low dose like 0.5mg to 1mg per day. Then we spread this out to every 36 to 48hrs. Then when that feels okay, we try every 72 hours.
Not everyone requires such a low taper. But many do. Keeping track of your withdrawal symptoms can help.
And just remember, this is not medical advice for you. Everyone is different and has different medical needs. Talk to your doctor before making any changes.

Such a strange thing that this channel is not getting more views and up votes. I seriously think this guy is one of the most truthful addiction specialist out there and I wish more people could find his videos. Anyways, thanks so much for the videos! I have been on suboxone for 10 plus years and have cut myself down to 1mg from 8 in the last 2. I am very self aware addict and I just love this channel for its clear, hard hits of truth. If you are struggling and want some real talk on how to get clean, listen to this man and listen well.

ohoe TH-cam algorithm. Its got numerous problems that bury the good ones. But also we can suggest a few things like tagging videos and such, this video has 58 comments, trust me hes well on his way it just takes time.

I personally believe TH-cam’s algorithm is purposefully pushing doctors and sponsored videos to the top of the page when we search anything regarding opioid addiction. I do think it’s on purpose, and I think it’s disgusting. It’s pressing videos like these to the bottom of the results, to where you have to scroll and scroll to find great guys like this or like the guys from Project Unbroken. All I see is information on how and where to find suboxone or methadone when I specifically search “Feeling good after quitting suboxone” lol it’s actually ridiculous, and it gets worse every year when I start thinking about getting off again.
Aside from that, I’m on 6mg a day currently, been on that for over a year now, and I’m so ready to get clean from it. I’m going to use the -25% every 10 days to 2 weeks method, though, and go as slow as possible until I’m down to tiny slivers a day/every other day/etc.
I hope if anyone who is quitting reads this - I believe in us. We will be free again. I know it is possible. I do not believe the scam artists who say you have to use it forever, it’s not a life worth living if you’ve already had the time necessary to stabilize your life and mind. To stay on it beyond that, for me, has been a huge mistake. I’m going on six years soon, and I’m so done lol can’t wait to get closer to the end of the taper.
Thank you for all your videos, you’ve always been a godsend for me as a viewer in need. After my mom died from covid, it sent me spiraling down a totally new way of thinking about my life, and I know I’m ready now. We need people like you here, and I’m so grateful to be able to find you on this platform - considering the amount of bull crap you have to sift through to find people who actually have your best interest in mind, and have made it through the end and found the rebirth.

I’ve done this about 3 times now. My best advice for anyone that has jumped off subs for 4-5 days and just can’t handle it anymore. Your body has now adjusted to getting none and your tolerance is greatly reduced. Once I failed my 2 mg jump I came back on at 1 mg and was feeling great... it’s amazing how fast our bodies can adjust and lower the tolerance. To come back on at 2 mg would be a total waste of them 4 days of suffering. 👍 great video

I’ve been debating on doing it this way, except intentionally. I’m at 2 mg, and I could do a fast taper from here, stop and when I can’t handle it anymore I’ll take 1 mg, which could be in 3-4 days, then wait until I can’t take it again and take 0.5. Dose adjusted to how many days in between I make it

I just came off suboxone after using it for 19 years , was on Heroin for 4 years before jumping onto suboxone 16mg , then 8 , then 4 , then after 6 months I got down to 2 mg and stayed on it 19 years . I still feel a bit shitty but im pushing through , been one hell of a ride , our suppliers in South Africa ran out of stock so I did a crash course and cut my last 2 x 2mg tablets up into 4 x 1mg pieces and rode those out the first 4 days at 1mg a day and then done , I'm now on my 9th day clean off all meds and feel a bit shitty but weed helps here and there when I can't sleep . Best advice out there. Great video. He’s definitely right about not taking it everyday at the end. If you’re down to
.125mg & skip 3 days between that small dose that is definitely getting your brain used to not having the drug & forcing your receptors to start producing dopamine on its own again. Feeling a little withdrawal is a good thing. That’s your body repairing itself. Personally I dropped from 16mg a day to 1.5 mg per day in the past two weeks & the only difference now is I don’t fall asleep right away anymore & I do this rapid 3 sneeze thing a million times a day. Dr. Park, thank you. I’m down to 1mg. And what I am feeling is no difference. Which is a good thing, but I don’t know if later on it’s going to sneak up on me. You have to want to really get off of it. You have to have serious will power, which I do, prayers, which I pray, and a dog. Don’t laugh, my dog helps me through anxiety, depression (it’s mild) and stress. I’ve looked up Kratom for any withdrawal, but I’ve opted to just let my own body decide for itself how bad this is going to be to get free of. In the next 2 months I’m going to get as low of a dose as I possibly can and then we shall see how strong I really am!! Wish me luck! ❤️

They likely have never come off suboxone themselves and do not know what it's like. If they have, more power to them. However, NA people do not have your best interests in mind when it comes to Suboxone. It's your life at stake, not theirs. If something happens to you guess what? I knew this would be the case though; I didn't jump off thinking I would be 100% in a few weeks. After the first 5 to 7 days it feels like the improvement slows down. I am currently taking 8 mg a day for a week now, and planning on going down to 4 mg for only 3 days, then to 2 mg for 3 days then so on; trying to do a quick as possible taper since I am pregnant.
My doctor is an OBGYN that specializes in treating pregnant women with OUD and he wants me to take MORE Suboxone right now since my blood volume increased and my metabolism is changing, but I do NOT want to be on it at all! I don’t want to risk NAS with my baby, the thought of it freaks me out so much😫
I guess my question is: is it possible to taper this fast? I honestly don’t feel much of a difference when I’m on 8 mg than 2 mg, I still get my usual sleepiness from both doses and I don’t feel withdrawals at 2 mg, but I have heard that’s cuz Suboxone has a unique way it acts on the brain; most of your opioid receptors are filled at merely 2 mg, so that’s why there’s a ceiling effect where you don’t feel much of a difference at higher doses than 2 mg.

It is not recommended to taper quickly during pregnancy due to risk of preterm labor, miscarriage, etc with withdrawal symptoms and/or relapse. I'll rapidly drop my dose to a quarter a day for the first week and then I started cutting that half and so on. I got the point to where I can take a crumb when I was feeling anxiety, and that would take the edge off. You have to take just enough to take some of the WD away and then allow your brain to readjust somewhat. Microdosing does really work if you have a good plan laid out

Ashley Maree Lucemyra can cause irregular heart beat, slowed heart rate, and low blood pressure. I’d be hesitant to take it with history of arrhythmia. But your doctor will know more about your history than me. Also, are you having anxiety with the taper? How low of a dose are you at and how quickly have you gotten there? All these details play an important role in your taper process.

    • @ashleymaree329

Paxil and Valium the combination together seems to work great for me. My simple question is, is the 2mg dose a big dose or not? I’m a 23 year pharmaceutical rep and know a lot about medicines and diseases but I just can’t figure it out bc seems so many people struggle to go off 2’s. For me, the worst withdrawal symptom so far, by far, is the fatigue. Shit man, it just sucks. I’m eating well, drinking water, exercising and taking multi’s but it’s still pretty bad! I can handle everything else! RLS, the poops, the anxiety but damn dude the fatigue kicks my ass. I take low dose benzo at night and it helps tremendously. I think THE single best thing u can do during detox and withdrawal is to get sleep. If ur not sleeping, ur body isn’t healing. Note to self! Stop giving or encouraging clonidine for anxiety. That shit DOES NOT WORK! Lol. Benzos for a week are the only way to go imo. Thx bro. Just subscribed. Ur welcome

@@dr.chrispark Yes. I finally found a very good addiction specialist MD that actually gives a shit about her patients. She doesn’t just rx and send u out the door and says good luck. also see a MA, LPC, LCDC counselor twice a week bc I’m acutely “clean”. Been on subs about 40 days and the doc has me tapering. That’s also a good thing. She doesn’t want me on this drug for years which I think is horrible that docs do that, at least at high doses. I can see a 2mg maintenance dose every day but that’s all. Long story but she started me at 4mg bid then 4mg qd that 3 then 2 etc but, like most addicts, there were some days I took more than prescribed and that caused a problem. I saw her last Thursday and she refilled my 30 days of 2mg. At the time I saw her I had about 4 tapes of 2mg subs left. Well, turns out I can’t fill the rx til tomorrow so, I basically ran out bc I abused it on a couple of days and took
more than prescribed so I took my last 2mg tape Sunday and now it’s Wednesday. I expected the wd to be way worse and maybe they’re still coming but I think I’m past the worst and it wasn’t that bad. The big question right now, actually a pivotal question is whether I fight through this fatigue another few days/week or pick up my rx and take a couple 2mg tapes and cut them with scissors to make them last a few days. I do think going from 2mg to nothing was a considerable drop but overall I feel fine save some fatigue! Feedback?

I've tapered from 8mg to 1mg in less than 2 weeks (I haven't counted)... I was using large amount's of Crack and Heroin (smoking) daily for at least 2 years. Before that I battled with Ketamine and Alcohol addiction for 7 years heavily and was a total drunkard and 'legal high' abuser before that... I loved the hallucinogenic experience of Ketamine combined with deep meditation and pranayama breathing which came to me from God... Anyway all that stopped overnight and I ended up ruined from sniffing Ketamine with no hallucinogenic effects present anymore so I jumped on the Crack and Heroin to taper off... It worked, not drank in a year at least. 15 years of battling addiction total... I had 2mg of Buprenorphine yesterday in total and 1mg today and feel almost ok all in all... I was quite angry yesterday and have drenched my bed in cold sweat for the last week but no sickness, body aches and I even sleep for around 8 hours but at strange times such as 5am... (But I get a few hours in the day currently)...
About to jump off to nothing maybe tomorrow and will be megadosing Vitamin C... I feel confident this time around to be honest. I will be attending Gym again lifting heavy and will be using Sauna and Steam Rooms daily which I love... I have also been eating A LOT these last 2 weeks... Huge fried English Breakfasts and very hot Indian Curries nightly now... I have a Madras on it's way actually... I hope this helps anyone. I have tried to include what I would like to see in a persons information myself. All in all up to now it's been a relatively easy ride! Good luck.

@@samgallant4292 First, very important to realize wanting off of it and making your decision are two different things. You must make your decision, you must decide you are done. You have to literally fall in love with the idea of being off 'em and see yourself living without subs. Begin with the end in mind.
Next taper. Although people have jumped from 2mg (and higher!) I could not. Tapering is easy, convince yourself of it. Been on Subs for years? What's another month? Taper slowly. Write it down, plan it out. If it's written you are halfway home. The last 10 days you literally taking crumbs AND SKIPPING DAYS. Important, you must skip at least two days.
Two days before jump off start 25,000mg liposomal per day. Powder is preferable (mix w Gatorade) Increase to "bowel tolerance" on jump day you will get the runs. Add Magnesium and Niacin daily. Also, 10 mg of Imodium/day and you are home free. It's a fucking breeze.

Try being on subs for 12 years and then finally getting the courage to get off at 31.
Get off when your ready but just know the longer you stay on the harder it will be. You have to find a new reason for living and these meds are a torture chamber for you will never be able to be sad or happy you will just stay right in the middle like a zombie. I’m happy the both of you aren’t using the heroin laced with fentanyl that’s killed 3 of my friends. This is a great time to get the hell out of this life while you still can. Make it a priority and don’t wait 6 years like I did. Is it painful to get off subs you might ask? My answer is pain is all relative but it may very well be the hardest thing you have to do in your life but you’ve come this far to get help so you don’t have to wait around for your drug dealer anymore. You’ll get to a point where you see the subs for what they truly are and that is a transition point/fork in the road/purgatory for the people who are tough enough to kick this bullshit once and for all. Go all the way or don’t go at all, but the mind is an amazing thing. When you’ve absolutely had enough of all the pain and all the money these doctors and drug companies have made off the backs of addicts like us you will wake up one morning and you’ll be ready to put this life in your rear view mirror and never ever look back. I hope that day comes sooner rather than later. Any update? Hope you guys are still having success and staying clean. Cheers 🤙

I wish my doctors had been more forthcoming with the realities of this med (when starting it and stopping it), and I guess more educated?
The idea of my tapering down to a quarter of a mg or less was shocking to them, and almost led to me not getting their help until I talked my way out of it. I don’t want to have to smooth talk the doctor treating me for addiction in order to get the treatment I need to get clean, my days of scamming for meds was supposed to be over ya know? But they all said “You’ll come off at 2mg/day, and after a long weekend you’ll be ready to go back to work.” There’s just no way.
After going through three weeks of wd last year I had to go back to suboxone, and now I’m down to 1/8mg a day, going to start stretching the time between doses now. And other than some pretty bad restless legs and mild anxiety it hasn’t been bad at all so far, but I know the final jump will be rough.
It’s just great hearing a doctor actually say the things most of us suboxone patients know, the harsh reality of coming off this drug once and for all, it’s really validating and comforting for real, I feel like crying a little right now.
    Thanks for the video 👍

Suboxone Doc's do NOT know enough about this when they prescribe, etc. It is criminal - starting people at 8mg or 16mg a day for example. This stuff is soooo strong it should only be administered in smal doses IMO. On 2mg for years I had Doc's tell me it was a "baby" dose. They do not know the massive difference between 2mg and zero.

Some people will be on it forever and if they have a better life on it vs off of it then it's good for them to be on it. I'm down to 2mg but I get the little 2mg pills and they fall apart when I try to cut them so it's going to be hard to wean myself down more. I would love to be off this stuff.

Ended up in the hospital for about 3 weeks so after that I decided it was best for me to be on Subutex as Suboxone caused depression. So most of the pain is gone except for my IBS which is very painful (constipation). I use Miralax and that seams to help for a couple days out of a week. The withdrawal symptoms lasted at least 2 years. When I got the first .5mg of Suboxone (they had to restart me on it) my body said "its about time, took my pain away and gave me 4 hrs of sleep! Thats allot. Still not sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time.

You know I'm going to be honest. I took pain pills here and there as a teenager you know for like getting my wisdom teeth out or my mom will give me a muscle relaxer if I had really bad menstrual cramps. But I honestly my entire life had no idea what withdraw was. I had never hung around opiate users until I was in my mid-twenties. I used to do drugs recreationally a little too recreationally😳 and I lost 75 lb in 3 months because I was snorting oxycontin's and I could never keep anything down when I would snort them so I would puke constantly. So I'm going through life like doodoo doodoo to do all I'm losing weight these pills are freaking amazing dudududududududu.! Never had a withdrawal. Then I had a family friend move in for 3 months and I was doing blues for 3 months straight without any Gap. Then the family friend left and moved back up north and I felt horrible just absolutely horrible but I thought I was just getting a really really bad flu or something me being naive about the situation. And when they say ignorance is bliss that shit is a very true statement because as soon as a friend told me oh you're not getting the flu you're going through withdrawals all you need to do is get another pill and you'll feel great again! And as soon as he said that to me my bones started aching and I couldn't stop wiggling my feet around and freezing chills sweating at the same time it was like fireworks going off in my body! So he gave me a pain pill and I felt better instantly. If I could go back in time and change that moment when that person told me that I was going through withdrawals that would be the only moment in my life that I would change! I would have just thought that I was getting the flu and I was really sick and by that time I was getting tired of using the pills anyways cuz I already lost a crap ton of weight I look so sick and being naive with pain medication I had no clue what I was doing. God do I wish I could go back and change that moment. From that moment on I chased that devil Drug for years so I wouldn't feel sick and made horrible choices because of it! So ignorance is bliss... do you think that a percentage of withdrawing is mental? Like I said ignorance is bliss and I would have not have even known about withdrawing if somebody didn't tell me what I could do to feel better.

I never took more than 2mg in one day. I know so many that are prescribed ridiculous amounts and its either due to the Doctors ignorance or in many of my friends cases, them wanting to feel high at the beginning and not just "normal" That being said, I only took it for a yr and when I jumped I was taking 1/8 of a 2mg every other day and I still went through weeks of personal torture, pacing at night, crying because everytime I thought I might fall asleep, I'd jump out of my skin. For me personally if I ever had to do it again, I'd take 3/4 days of hell over weeks of dull torture anyday. It's been 6yrs and still the thought of ever placing even a sliver of a sub under my tongue makes me want to vomit. Anyone that says that subs or Methadone don't get you high are delusional, Imo all they are is a substitute for the government to be able to make money off of and that's just sad. When prescribing Doctors are fed incorrect information, there's definitely something wrong.
I wish anyone still struggling or thinking of giving up,don't. All those thoughts of "I'm never going to enjoy anything ever again" "what's the point" the list goes on.... They are just thoughts, they are just your addiction trying to rear its ugly head, It may not be tomorrow or a month from now but slowly you will start to mentally heal and idk anyone else but the guilt and disgust that I felt about myself, was a reminder not to give up and go back. I never thought I'd ever be able to wake up and not have to take something to start my day but I was so wrong and NOTHING is better than not having to plan everything I want to do or need to do around dope.

Your totally correct it's wrong to keep people on this for years it's unnecessary I think . I've used H on and off for 15 plus years and never heard or needed this to quit before ,only this time around I needed it for PAWS kuz of a three year binge this is my first time taking this I'm 2months in stuck on 2mgs about to jump off I feel ready but where I get my subs they say oh no don't jump now people usually relapse who quit in three months you still need this for a year at least is what they told me , the hell with that

My experience with jumping off around 1.5 to 2 mg was that I didn’t have physical pain. No restless legs. My main symptoms were lack of energy and insomnia with malaise/apathy. My depression wasn’t too bad. The worst was the sleep. In one week I am going to reattempt jumping off. I gave in after 4 days last in last time at 2 mg because of sleep issues and I was working. This time I’m using 9 days off work. I feel pretty good about this time

Did you do the jump? I jumped off 2mg 6 days ago, and I honestly don’t feel too bad. I’ve had worse withdrawal from other drugs. I did have to miss 2 days of work, but Sunday when I return it will be 8 days since my last dose.

Oh my gosh I cannot stand when somebody says to me. Why can't you just stop taking it you're already on such a low dose already? I want to punch them in the face. My answer is always because it isn't safe to just stop taking something that you've been taking every single day sometimes twice a day for 7 years straight. I had an uncle who had taken Xanax his entire life and he ended up getting like dementia not from the Xanax just he developed it and in the beginning stages of it he forgot to take it and he was on a pretty high dose of Xanax well I think you forgot to take it for like 3 days straight he ended up in the hospital in a coma. He was all whacked out he thought he had won the lottery and he had to drive to go get his check from Tallahassee I mean just really really bad and the doctor said it was because he abruptly completely stopped taking his Xanax he was on it for a good 40 years. But still your body gets used to what you put into it and when your body is deprived of it you shut down especially with a drug like Xanax I'm sorry but that drug is the devil! I'm sure it has helped millions of people but honestly if I can do any drug again my drug of choice would be a Xanax and I have to stay away from them. I atleast I have self-awareness and I know that if I got on that train I'm taking that train all the way to shittsburgh! But back to what I was saying it's so easy for people who are on the outside and know nothing about the medication to say why don't you just stop taking it? Like its birth control or something. LOL

Jessica Constantine Xanax is very different from Suboxone. Jumping off of 2 milligrams of Xanax is health risk. Jumping off of 2 milligrams of Suboxone is uncomfortable and requires a lot of discipline but can absolutely be done -regardless of how long you’ve been taking it.

@@meesterdinglefritz2064 hi Jessica Constantine here, yes I am very aware that Xanax is very different from Suboxone! I'm pretty much an expert at this point in my life. Is Xanax and pain pills were my drug of choice but luckily enough by the grace of God I got help! I have been clean for over six years now except for the Suboxone I'm still taking. Nothing like lingering memories got your stuff in your mouth every day! It was way easier for me to get off of Xanax then it is this Suboxone. I know that every one's body and mind is different. But you can't just tell somebody to stop taking Suboxone and it might be a little uncomfortable and it requires a lot of discipline but it can be done. You can't just say that somebody!

The problem for people is this slow taper, where you wait 2 weeks until you feel normal. Basically it asks them to prepare for 8 months of constantly going through periods of feeling crappy and normal. Most people would probably rather get it out of the way instead of drag it out that long. Just go 4 days, then take kratom and the taper of kratom is insanely easy. It effects different receptors so you take that for 2 weeks and you can literally just stop. You dont have to taper the kratom if you dont take it long

Excellent advice Devin thanks man. I definitely agree people overthink the whole damn thing. There’s going to be a bit of discomfort no matter , but I’m going to try the .5 mg sub to two week kratom taper soon… you still on TH-cam?
