This gears of war 3 shotgun tutorial episode will help teach you how to use the shotgun more effectively in Gears of War 3. I discuss some of the basic principles that have helped me excel with the gnasher including:
Where to aim your gnasher
Strafing Styles
Anticipating Player Movements
I highly recommend pausing at points to understand what the tooltips are getting at, as I couldn't fit everything in with voiceovers. I also highly recommend viewing the two episodes above if you haven't yet, particularly the positioning video. That is such a huge concept to shotgunning and you need that to even be able to hang.
This video shows:
How to use the shotgun on Gears of War
How to use the Gnasher in Gears of War

im pretty sure i commented on this vid back when you first posted it, but just wanted to say again that i really like your personality, and your tutorials are easy to understand and follow, keep up the great work and stay up and well, peace :)
Great stuff Arctic. Always consistently great stuff; I get so excited when I see a video from you in my subscription box!
Just a minor correction though you might want to change in the description: it's LikeButter, not LikeButters.
Can't wait to see the next video!
Your videos are done extremely well. Very Very organized, very clear, very helpful, and very genuine. Good job bro, keep doing what you do.
Thanks for the tips man. I just subbed like a week ago and you put out great content! I will for sure use these tips cause I just started getting back into playing Gears. Keep on putting out great content man :)
true, sweet man, keep it up loving your tips and tactics season im so sharing this with my mates bro. cant wait for more uploads
i was so excited when I saw the title of this SOOO HYPE, you have the best hip fire on youtube
Love it! Another great video, arctic!. Was that GoldGlove at the beginning with the "Oh!" comments?? lol!
Even though i'm a competitive veteran i'm enjoying these kind of videos. ArctiC, you're awesome!
Hey man once again it was awesome playing against you thanks for the tips !
Good tips! I'm a gnasher artisan at the moment but with these tips I'll be a gnasher master before I know it! :D
I've heard that a bit here and there. Glad you enjoy the series :)
Wow this video really helped me a lot. Thanks Arctic
Lookign forward to the next one!
Your videos are really impressive/helpful. It shows by the like to dislike ratio. NICE WORK man! :P
great vid like always bro!
your hands down one of the best gears players on youtube, hands down!!!.
Thanks, glad you found them useful!
awesome vid arctic.... keep it up :)
No sweat. Oddly enough, I'm a COD/Halo guy by nature. And, even when I took a break from Gears for a minute, I still watched all of your content.
Your commentary is boss because you stay on the game. (you don't talk about STDs, or prom dates, or s**t that I just don't want to hear) Your gameplay is genuine in it's reflection of skill, and is always helpful and interesting to watch. Nobody does both better, IMO.
Keep it up, man. Just no Pokemon, please. HA!!!
Great vid as always
Great tips, man. Love em. All I use is the gnasher. stubborn but i love it.
Thanks for the awesome video let some of my friends watch and I saw big improvements!
Cool video. I have been playing gears for a long time also and I learned a few things from this video.
Watching this video has improved my shotgun skill massively, thank you
Thanks glad you like the video! I've been using gnasher a lot recently, makes the game really enjoyable :)
Man I miss playing this game and watching your videos man... wish I could go back to summer time.
awesome vid as usual. Can't tell you how much your vids have helped and inspired me. Just one question, what are your sensitivity settings? :^)
thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for these man, awesome!
I don't like rolling either hence the altered controls but that's just what I decided to do in that situation. Glad you enjoyed the video.
so sick. arctic isn't really a pharnico when it comes to movement, but the way he thinks puts him in my top 10 gears players without a doubt.
no problem, thanks for checking it out!
I've seen LB and Skyllus gnasher/movement tutorials and I enjoyed them both. But I personally was waiting for yours b/c you have a very thorough way of breaking down and explaining things that is efficient. the squence you broke down was very short yet was as helpful if not more then the vids from LB and Skyllus
Brilliant as always.
subscribed, liked, Favorited :D
Great tutorials buddy!
you have some good tips man, i have been getting better. I just cant get into the alternate controls tho. and the active reloads really does make all the difference in the world. i have been getting hate mail saying i was host cuz i kept getting one shot downs. lol i love you man!!
I think it's common acceptance among the competitive and pro community that actives would be considered one of the most important aspects of shotgunning.
In short range shotgunning (unless you're specifically talking about gibs), it's the difference between a 1-shot down or a 2-shot down. Stressing the importance of Actives is building awareness, not necessarily aimed at improving your shotgun skill.
Nice Arctic !
great warm up tip, thanks!
Nice, great strafing tips.
right on keep watching Goldy
You're sensitivity is perfect man. I just changed mine to it and my shots are waaaayyyyy more accurate.
great work again!
no problem, thanks for taking the time to watch!
Arctic where you been at man you used to be the hype all around gears I guess we can't go back in time even if we wanted too
I still hop on gow3 every once in a while its like riding a bike, you never forget lol
Stay up playa!
Just launched our game this week. Been busy in game development the last 3 years.
What's the name of the game?
I didn't even know that the aim wasn't perfectly centred when hipfiring, thanks arctic!
no problem, thank you for watching!
sweet! thanks for checking it out
Great vid very informative now I hope I can improve my shotgun
thanks glad you found it useful!
Thanks for the video arCtiCvBi. I was in a funk so I came and watched this... Now I'm back to wrecking, Many thanks!
Thanks for the fast response. Subscribed
Thank you! Welcome to the family :)
Right turning on my console and trying these "MaD sK1llZ" out - oh, and you just got yourself a new sub :) cool vid man!
I answered a similar question in another comment. I've been playing so long that most of my reactions are based on instinct (I kind of elaborated on that more towards the end of the vid). Because I've played so long it's much easier for me to process what's going to happen and react accordingly.
The slow motion breakdown is simply elaborating on my general thought process of my play style, so that everyone can get an idea of what is going on.
thanks glad you enjoyed the video!
description answers both of those questions :)
Well welcome to the family, hope you've caught up on some of the previous Running Ranked episodes :)
thank you, glad you enjoyed it
no problem thanks for watching!
Wow. even that slow mo breakdown was a good. I now know to take that much more into consideration when I'm playin gears lol
Thank you and welcome to the family! Hope you find all my vids helpful on your return to the game :)
Btw I like your videos Arctic. Keep it up
Thanks so much for the help.
good to hear my man
I don't have a release schedule for dates on this series. I don't plan on doing it next, but it's definitely on my to-do list.
right on, keep it moving!
No problem, welcome to the family
thanks, appreciate the feedback!
Man i didn't know the rock made videos haha! just kidding man, you've got a new sub!
having a good understanding of both is where it's it :)
no problem thanks for watching :)
Arctic in the hall of fame for gnashers!! :-)
Cheers. Seems obvious now. Keep up the amazing videos. Btw I would love to see tutorials on the physics of GOW 3
Thanks for the tips, lookin forward to that movement video! Also, could you include a tip for how to wallbounce really quickly? I've seen a lot of videos where people start wallbouncing like crazy in a narrow hallway and I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Am I not pressing A quickly enough, is it because I use alternate control scheme that I can't wallbounce that far or am I not moving the left stick quickly enough from left to right? Seeing your hands while doing this would be the best :]
thanks! welcome to the family :)
good luck my man! Hopefully you'll return and catch up on them =)
Good video. I don't care that it's been done before. The camera and shooting angles are tricky in Gears and repetition helps. Raam's Shadow DLC with infinite ammo is good for practice because it throws a lot of regular Locust (no Lambent) at you.
Great tutorial
thanks glad you enjoyed the video
Great video. What are your audio settings? I use Astro A30's and was curious if changing the sound effects setting from the stock (level 8) would help with footstep clarity.
I checked in the description before I read this, you totally said "Like Butters" in the video.
nice video man
getting closer!
A1 Guide. Thanks.
no problem! welcome to the family :)
I recommend playing with whatever feels the most comfortable. I switched to Alternate because I wanted to stop rolling when I wanted to wall bounce. If that's not a problem for you, it's really not something you should consider. It takes awhile to get used to the scheme.
Finally, thank you!
Cheers man, nice vid and thanks for the quick response to the comment :D Subbed :3
thanks, glad you like it
This was pretty clean ngl
thanks you really improved my gameplay thank you
thanks glad you like it!
Subscribed Thanks Bro!
right on. I did state however that I wasn't going to dwell on strafing :)
that's great to hear!
wow very good and pointed out things like butters didn't thanks i'll work on these
@itZodiac It's where your character can dodge in any direction, rather than just the cardinal/primary directions (left, right, forward, backward). It's optional.
not a huge fan of the roadie strafe, but it's something i'll cover in my movement video which is going to further elaborate on strafing and wallbouncing
You make this look so easy.
