Great video. I’ve ridden them all except the BMW and the MV. The KTM was a clear winner for me, especially considering the $6k price difference, no cruise control or gas gauge on the Streetfighter. I bought a Super Duke 1290 GT for the added comfort. Best bike I’ve ever owned by far.

But it is precisely for this reason that I do not understand some of the comments that "disqualify" the ST for country roads. I only drive them on country roads and try not to stroll. I'm following this test from Germany. I have owned a 1200 RS myself for 3 months now. Wow. Obviously you have a completely different Triumph motorcycle overseas? Have some horsepower been sunk in the sea during the shipping? What other regulations do you have in addition to the indicators from Disneyland? I really don't want to put the ST on the throne, but so far behind and "not outstanding"? Funny: BMW is at the forefront of all testers in Europe because this bike obviously offers the best overall package for country roads. In this test there are 2 bikes ahead that cannot use their nominal performance advantages on country roads ... By the way, I also think that the Ducati and Aprilia are absolutely top bikes, but this test result is a bit weird .. .. Everyone stay healthy.
Remember these US reviewers are usually smitten by the allure of the red Ducati. Like someone thinking that a expensive wine is the best, it's not. I watch US reviews to see how subjective they are and go the opposite of their views.
It depends what you expect for power. They use dyno numbers which is power at the tire so it’s going to be lower than advertised. Also overseas you have nm for torque numbers which are almost double than the sae numbers we use here. The 1200 rs for the street what I’ve heard is the way the power is distributed it’s not road friendly because it’s more like a sport bike. It doesn’t like being lugged around at low rpm. It needs to be ridden hard to enjoy it. Me personally if I was to get one of these it would be the Triumph or KTM. But for where I live the 900 class is more enjoyable. All that’s here is congested highways with potholes everywhere and tight twisty roads where you’re stuck in 3rd gear. I’ve never been out west where they are so I’m not sure what the roads are like.
The only thing with the 1250 RS for me is that I'm 6'4 and too much strain on my wrists so a 1250R or the S1000XR would be my upgrade choice... but I love the boxer engine and that torque... it has no match on the low end of the rev range... keep safe
I’m with you. Seems like a lot of reviewers look for unrefined and raw feeling engines whereas the Triumph is more refined and user friendly. This results in a bike that’s easier to ride fast without having to rely on all the computer aides all the time. No one can deny the Triumph is a lot of bike and I personally would put it much higher on the list. I also think it’s the best looking of the lot. My thoughts at least 🇺🇸
I went for the 2022 Tuono V4 base. I think adjustable rearsets are a necessity for touring on it, but it really does hit the mark nearly everywhere else. Some better range would be nice, but if 40 miles per tank is the premium I have to pay for that soundtrack, it’s worth it.
I may end up on that beautiful S1000R when my MT07 stops being so fun snd i have the money for it😂 Always loved the inline 4 sound and all the electronics and power is plenty for me
I also had a Mt07 as a first bike in 2018 , then came the MT09SP in 2019 after this beast came the S1000R in 2020 which was way easier to ride fast than the Mt09sp but it didnt had the emotions in comparison to the Mt07 and Mt09sp thats why I bought a 1290 super Duke R in 2021 which is in its own class of fun/adrenaline tbh.
I bought the SFV4S right when it became available 1.5 year ago. After 15.000km in every type of riding i believe it's the best naked ever made. Probably the best Ducati also
ZH2 is really limited by the ECU but it’s an absolute riot to ride flashed. Shame I had to put mine away for the winter. I’d still ride any of the other bikes shown here just because I LOVE RIDING.
@Richard Killian the ZH2 makes somthing like 40-60hp more flashed because kawasaki shits the throttle off at about 170-190hp at the top end so it is super restricted from the factory. I think they usually pull 200+ hp super easy on pump gas JUST from keep the throttle bodies from closing off on the top end. So really it's hard to watch these reviews when a lot of these bikes can be very different with modifications that 90% of people do to any of these bikes. I feel like it could change a lot of opinions if people knew that information.
I do not uderstand how the Aprilia is i the same boat as the others. It does not look like a naked bike... come on guys.... it is not naked at all! Great video! please keep them comming!
In 19, I preordered and purchased a 20 ZH2 to add to the stable. I did not realize the SE was coming out, or I would have waited. My 20 is now flashed, it has a lot carbon fiber bits, slip on, sprint AF, alarm, heated grips, a heated seat, taller screen, etc. I just added a 23 fat bob last month. I’m now in Phoenix and will probably be picking up a new 22 1100 Tuono Factory tomorrow, unless I talk myself out of it. (I took my 02 RSV2 Mille out the other day and realized how much I like that bike.)
The headline Dyno figures only say so much. If you look at the power curves, the Kawi and the KTM are the most powerful in the real world, and the Ducati is only the most powerful due to its higher redline.
Loved this "fireside chat" style of review and comparison video. Great perspectives, having ridden most of these bikes and owning the SF I can agree with most of what is said about each bike! Can't wait for the track, just had a track day with my SF so will be cool to see what you guys think!
Ryan says it all. "I feel spoiled" 🤣 Awesome, awesome collection of bikes. Great video, like they said there is no wrong choice here since you will have fun on any of those bikes. (except the MV I gurss 🤣) I have the 2021 Streetfighter V4S, and I have to say it's surprisingly not as hot as other ducati bikes, but I have to say: THE V4 IS THIRSTYYYYYY 🤣 Bike's amazing though 👌 Great job guys! Looking forward to the track video 👏
Traded my gen 3 sdr for a new tuono, you can’t beat the noise it makes, I liked my sdr but only 2 years warranty in the uk so it had to go. All are good bikes and it’s down to personal preference
@@Cabergui hi the engine in the tuono is much more entertaining, the sdr was better for a pillion and a bit more comfy around town but I use mine for Sunday funday and luv it but when your on the pipe the tuono wins for me and I’m planning on a few track days next summer.
The zh2 probably has the most power potential out of the line up for those willing to modify. Its incredibly restricted from the factory. As are all of these. But because its boosted it has the most to gain from destrestriction. Bricks performance got a stock zh2 to make 220 wheel horsepower. Moore mafia got one with a full exhaust to make 230 wheel hp. As far as I've seen none of the other bikes gain anywhere near as much power from dyno tuning and light modification.
Went from a 2006 Brutale 910 to the 2018 Tuono Factory… absolutely loved the Brute, only traded it because it started having issues that couldn’t be figured out…. As much as I love the MV Brand and the look of those bikes; the news ones that I road where crap compared to my old brute, sounds like they still haven’t figured it out…. Can’t imagine a better bike than the Tuono but that old Brute was also very special….
All BMW needed to do was have the shift cam, and put a cool asymmetric headlight on it, and it would have been a contender. No excuse for leaving shift cam off. And the styling of the bike is cool, then they put last years generic GSXS headlight on it and total neuter the looks. The BMW is just like the Triumph, great bikes, but when you are trying to compete in this class, you have to swing for the fences.
Gobbled up the whole video and the web article - I feel spoiled! Thanks chaps! I would have liked to see the dyno charts start from a lower number though... 2,000 would be great! I found the 2020 Z-H2 a little bit "conventional inline-four" between 2-4000rpm before the boost spools up and you have me wondering if Kawaski has done something to address that. P.S. It would be awesome if you could navigate the review photos on your website with the keyboard cursor keys (or swipes for the young 'uns)
I doubt it got any better low down. Its got stricter emissions to meet and we all know how that goes for throttle response and fun. Its also difficult to get much more low down without gearing the supercharger to spin up faster and that would hold it back up top. I found adding two teeth to the rear sprocket livened it up no end. Even in the dead zone (relatively) it made it pick up much more urgently and got it to boost rpm much faster. It didn't make a massive difference to cruising rpm (~600ish more at 70mph) and you can hardly ever use the top speed anyway so for me that was a good trade off.
Such a frickin' cool review of big boy 'nakeds' guys....u'r all so laid back-having a gud time, but to the point! I'm a 'Streetfighter man' myself (just the standard version -2019 from Preston / Manchester Ducati dealership here in the UK (where in north-west we've got crap bumpy 'B'roads- full of pot holes we all pay road tax for in Lancashire. England). So naturally i'm going to be voting Ducati in this shoot-out, as rain or shine i get me thrills & a big ole grin on my freezin face- summer/ winter, rain or shine- S/F kicks arse & is a real crowd pleaser too. Occasionally I get a scowl, (as V4 so noisy as standard) in town, but mostly joy & admiration from 'joe public'.
How about engine heating on the bikes especially if you are in real city road conditions and not on canyons? I mean compared to each other how liveable are they in summers and not really irritating heat levels?
Love your reviews. These Halo bikes check all the right boxes. Halo bike tech eventually filters down their whole line. Truthfully, for the street, middle weight bikes are perfect, 110-150 horsepower. 200 horsepower plus bikes are like a 250 mph car. Why? Love my Super Duke snd MV AGusta 800 rr. No way can you use 80% of the potential of these bikes on the street especially on the twisted. Great job guys
MV-AGUSTA should really put an effort as far as engine mapping goes. It is really a pity to have such a good engine and such a beautiful motorcycle and yet you can not do right the one thing that matters the most.
While I haven't ridden all of these bikes, I've ridden a couple. They all seem to be solid bikes so it's all personal preference and what one can afford in the end. That being said, I'd like to add 2 more of these to my garage if I could.
C'mon guys.... I need to see the Indian FTR 1200 added to these tests. It's such a fun bike. Way more torque than most and 120ish hp. Easily bumped up with tune and pipe but still, this is a bike that belongs in the naked tests. It is one of the nicest looking bikes out there, has all the electronics, super torque engine. It doesn't need 13000 rpm to go fast. The Indian while being the new kid on the block somewhat deserves to be represented in these shootouts. I've ridden a lot of these and the Indian is right there... Naturally, it won't kill a H2 in a drag race but it is just such a nice bike, looks great, tons of torque and handles every bit as well as any bike in this test... If I could check off the number of bullet bikes I've spanked in both straight line and canyon carving, you'd be impressed. It has the tech, the feel, the look, the power.... The Indian FTR 1200 deserves some love!!!!!
Hi guys, great review thank you very much for the work. I'm a bit surprises though with the dyno output. I know it's rear wheel and vendors often feel a bit optimistic, but for the MV for instance a 50 hp loss is too huge.
Tuono is #1. Best sound amongst competitors. Has cruise control, gas gauge and 5K less vs Streetfighter. KTM look and sound are very subjective. Rode Tuono Factory from Phoenix to LA, after 6 hours ride I felt fresh which quite questionable if it'd be Streetfighter.
@@veteq101 I owned Tuono and rode Streetfighter for a long distance. It is a matter of fact, cruise control does work for your body when you rode 400 mile one way. But Streetfighter is smoother, no doubt.
Shame you used the 2020 version of the Ducati Streetfighter S. The 2021 has the peak torque 2000rpm lower making for an even better engine. I've the 2021 Streetfighter and it's noticeably swifter than the 2020
Ducati vs the KTM for the street: Duc doesn’t have cruise control, fuel gauge, gets horrible gas mileage, gets hotter than KTM, have to rev it higher than KTM to get in the fun power band. The looks are subjective, I don’t like the headlight to instrument cluster gap and the beak looking headlight. Looking at the engine, I see a lot of wires, hoses and braces, not clean looking engine like KTM (which was designed to be a naked from ground up, not just take the fairings off). Of the two, for day to day street riding and living with it…for me KTM wins easily.
Does Streetfighter have Cruise control.? Heated grips.? Fuel guage..? 25 grand..😢😢 and still missing these features...thats just nuts. And the fuel economy is absolutely garbage...🤕🤕🤕
Heated grips are a $300 options from factory. I have them on mine and when it comes to fuel gauge, very difficult to be accurate when most of the gas tank is under the seat, I set the odometer to 0 at fill up and I am good to go. PS: Cruise control was a miss.
Agree with cruise control and fuel gauge. Heated grip prolly not, since it's not a touring bike so it's normal not included. Fuel economy, which is all pretty low in these bikes. They are made for fun not for long range touring. It's just like you want a C63 AMG to be like Prius's MPG?
@@xcg1234 , naaah...i have ridden most of these bikes, the streetfighter is exceptionally bad on fuel management,just100 miles on a full tank...1290 SDR has an amazing fuel economy of 150+ miles.
Great review. Only gripe is that I wish they would have compared overall price and ranked them more with that in mind. There is almost a 14k difference between some of these bikes which is a whole second bike.
Seems like anything that sounds like a twin wins these tests all the time. Ought to do another test with blindfolds and earplugs that only lets you hear your own heart beating.
I had the same question about the track episode How would the new v2 street fighter be compared? Maybe a silly idea to compare until price becomes a factor?
A question for Mr John Burns: what do you do with your long hair so that after the ride it is possible to comb it? Especially after your highway part? Long hair are a pain.
They flash a dyno chart at 17:39 so if you look at that and the bikes' weights you can get a decent idea of whats going to happen. I would say the KTM will clear off until about 9,000rpm then a gap down to the Z (heaviest but decent grunt), Triumph, Aprillia, Ducati then another gap to the BMW and MV. If it carried on the Z would come back past the KTM as speeds rise then the Ducati would come back past both but they would probably be on their speed limiters before the MV caught the KTM back up. Thats just thumb in the air but it won't be a million miles off.
This shootout doesn't really feel polished. Sucks about the rain. The results are a little too all over the place. Also can you release the best laptimes of each rider? Even with such little time, it gives a sense of performance or at least ease of use
People should stop whining about wind when riding a naked motorcycle. Stay in a car if the wind bothers you. lol

The 1290 SDR has my vote!
They are all great bikes, it boils down to personal choice. For me it's the Aprilia every day.
Riding back to back with other top naked bike Excellent review👍🏼
1) Tuono v4 🔥2) Speed triple 165hp wheel🤙3) ZH2 182 hp wheel( slip on)🤘🤘4) Superduke1290. (S1000r blend. 😫)
These US guys are getting a castrated Speed Triple compared to the rest of the world..
I bought the SFV4S right when it became available 1.5 year ago. After 15.000km in every type of riding i believe it's the best naked ever made. Probably the best Ducati also
The first time i rode an Aprilia Tuono life changed for me.
ZH2 is really limited by the ECU but it’s an absolute riot to ride flashed. Shame I had to put mine away for the winter. I’d still ride any of the other bikes shown here just because I LOVE RIDING.
What kind of difference do you feel when riding it flashed?
It's classified as naked
You guys have the best job ever!
Great comparison and review! Definitely Super Duke for me!
I love this series reviews from middle size to Liter naked bikes. Wow. A lot of knowledge and feelings to share with audience. Fantastic!
The headline Dyno figures only say so much. If you look at the power curves, the Kawi and the KTM are the most powerful in the real world, and the Ducati is only the most powerful due to its higher redline.
I've been waiting for this shootout all year. You guys rock.
Great timing, im actually in the market to get one next year. So thank you
Next year ! Dude should should have seen it 5 years ago ! Great timing please 🤣
Brutale 1000 RS is way better, addresses everything you mentioned appart from the power delivery. I did 700 miles on one in a day!
It sure looks like MV is being VERY optimistic about those numbers, though... Ford Mustang Cobra lawsuit all over again?
Chopsy why is the Triumph coming last in these test??? You have ridden them all, maybe it will claw back places on the track test.
I really want a GSX-S 1000, would love to see a shootout with similar naked bikes to see how it stacks up.
Loved this "fireside chat" style of review and comparison video. Great perspectives, having ridden most of these bikes and owning the SF I can agree with most of what is said about each bike! Can't wait for the track, just had a track day with my SF so will be cool to see what you guys think!
Ryan says it all.
"I feel spoiled" 🤣
Awesome, awesome collection of bikes. Great video, like they said there is no wrong choice here since you will have fun on any of those bikes.
(except the MV I gurss 🤣)
I have the 2021 Streetfighter V4S, and I have to say it's surprisingly not as hot as other ducati bikes, but I have to say:
THE V4 IS THIRSTYYYYYY 🤣
Bike's amazing though 👌
Great job guys! Looking forward to the track video 👏
A pretty good day at the "office", I'd say!
Great video! So next year will see a Japanese shoot out when all the newest bikes are released. Dude next year 10 bike in the ultimate naked shootout.
Traded my gen 3 sdr for a new tuono, you can’t beat the noise it makes, I liked my sdr but only 2 years warranty in the uk so it had to go. All are good bikes and it’s down to personal preference
i´m thinking in do the same, do you think is worth it the trade, i am very interested in that tuono against my sdr 3.0
@@Cabergui hi the engine in the tuono is much more entertaining, the sdr was better for a pillion and a bit more comfy around town but I use mine for Sunday funday and luv it but when your on the pipe the tuono wins for me and I’m planning on a few track days next summer.
I'm and SDR guy through and through... at 6'4", it's the only option and the most fun bike on the list.
I’m 6’4” and the zh2 & mt-10 are just as comfy. My mt-10 with comfort seat and extended pegs most comfy.
@@kellycorrigan307 I love you, homie, but I can't ride a bike as ugly as the MT10, and I've owned 3 super dukes! I know ugly. lol
Think brocks eventually got even higher than 220 I think it was just over 230 with the zh2 and 240 with the h2sx
@@makjak111 exactly. When it comes to tuning potential the zh2 is just well ahead of the pack.
Zh2 178 hp at the wheel stock ive seen🔥🤙
Went from a 2006 Brutale 910 to the 2018 Tuono Factory… absolutely loved the Brute, only traded it because it started having issues that couldn’t be figured out…. As much as I love the MV Brand and the look of those bikes; the news ones that I road where crap compared to my old brute, sounds like they still haven’t figured it out…. Can’t imagine a better bike than the Tuono but that old Brute was also very special….
Riding Naked is always fun..😄😄
Was waiting for this video for month !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you heaps as I have a 2018 370z nizmo in black and I love it you just made my day ❤🕊
As predicted the big Speed is a track weapon! I know Ive got one.
Great video as always.
Why not include the new Suzuki? Or the Honda?
Options for us poor people.
Just watch some Super Hooligan races and you'll know what I'm talking about!!! Free the Indian FTR 1200!!!
+1 on the lack of ShiftCam.
The more they spread it's use thru their products, the more they can amortize it's R&D costs.
Well done, gents. 👏 Appreciate your thoughts and the video. 👍👍
Feel sorry for the speed triple, no idea why but the American ones are 20bhp down on the uk version.
@Casey R. I noticed a big difference between Road and sport settings - I think they must have used the Road map instead of the sport map
Something is definitely off and I think the channel should investigate..
Such a frickin' cool review of big boy 'nakeds' guys....u'r all so laid back-having a gud time, but to the point! I'm a 'Streetfighter man' myself (just the standard version -2019 from Preston / Manchester Ducati dealership here in the UK (where in north-west we've got crap bumpy 'B'roads-
full of pot holes we all pay road tax for in Lancashire.
Interesting about the dyno figures for speed when 165 on bikelife norge. Perhaps dyno calibration off which begs question if all tests off
How about engine heating on the bikes especially if you are in real city road conditions and not on canyons? I mean compared to each other how liveable are they in summers and not really irritating heat levels?
Love your reviews. These Halo bikes check all the right boxes. Halo bike tech eventually filters down their whole line. Truthfully, for the street, middle weight bikes are perfect, 110-150 horsepower. 200 horsepower plus bikes are like a 250 mph car. Why? Love my Super Duke snd MV AGusta 800 rr. No way can you use 80% of the potential of these bikes on the street especially on the twisted. Great job guys
I've been waiting months for this review
The Indian FTR 1200 deserves some love!!!!!
it's a hundred pounds heavier and 50 horsepower under the closest bike here...
I'd want the zh2 just for the fact it can make a ton of power with just a tune and exhaust
No need just a simple ecu derestrict and it will make 220rwhp
Power isn't everything on naked bike lol. Handling is more important imo
@@tuyenhoang5546 I've had a zx14r a mt09 and a gsxr1000 and go the same pace regardless of bike. So power is fun and that's what cash buys
This video is going to do some serious damage to my savings.
SOUL SHMOL!! The Indian has more SOUL than all of these combined!!!
Hi guys, great review thank you very much for the work.
I'm a bit surprises though with the dyno output. I know it's rear wheel and vendors often feel a bit optimistic, but for the MV for instance a 50 hp loss is too huge.
Emissions and exhaust. Manufacturers often quote numbers before emissions.
Zh2's comfortably hit 200 to the wheel with just a tune and exhaust.
John's the man!
I like his NO SHITS GIVEN attitude. No pussy footing, leave it to the others.
Loved all the reviews. You guys killed it. I was hoping my Super duke 1290r would make the top three and it did.
Tuono is #1. Best sound amongst competitors. Has cruise control, gas gauge and 5K less vs Streetfighter. KTM look and sound are very subjective. Rode Tuono Factory from Phoenix to LA, after 6 hours ride I felt fresh which quite questionable if it'd be Streetfighter.
you would be even more fresh, the Streetfighter is more comfortable than the Tuono but a long shot. I own both.
@@veteq101 I owned Tuono and rode Streetfighter for a long distance. It is a matter of fact, cruise control does work for your body when you rode 400 mile one way. But Streetfighter is smoother, no doubt.
Yep I'm still there with you, though the KTM would be great on a really tight track, I think.
Thank you for the awesome reviews.
. ill take the Triumph thank you.lol
Very nice and cool reviews, I'm looking forward to riding one of those bikes someday.
Shame you used the 2020 version of the Ducati Streetfighter S. The 2021 has the peak torque 2000rpm lower making for an even better engine.
I've the 2021 Streetfighter and it's noticeably swifter than the 2020
Does it have lower hp? now that the peak torque come sooner
@@DontKnow-lz1vh the euro 5 2021 has the same peak torque at 9400 as opposed to the euro 4 at 11400. Its makes for an even faster bike. 😎
Man Ducati are just going next level now days motogp tech is all over there bikes.
Ducati vs the KTM for the street:
Duc doesn’t have cruise control, fuel gauge, gets horrible gas mileage, gets hotter than KTM, have to rev it higher than KTM to get in the fun power band.
Does Streetfighter have
Cruise control.?
Heated grips.?
Fuel guage..?
25 grand..😢😢 and still missing these features...thats just nuts.
And the fuel economy is absolutely garbage...🤕🤕🤕
lol...yea lets buy a 10 tenths naked and worry about fuel mileage
Heated grips are a $300 options from factory. I have them on mine and when it comes to fuel gauge, very difficult to be accurate when most of the gas tank is under the seat, I set the odometer to 0 at fill up and I am good to go. PS: Cruise control was a miss.
Agree with cruise control and fuel gauge. Heated grip prolly not, since it's not a touring bike so it's normal not included. Fuel economy, which is all pretty low in these bikes. They are made for fun not for long range touring. It's just like you want a C63 AMG to be like Prius's MPG?
@@veteq101 , yeahhh 300$ option on a 25k motorcycle..🤕
@@xcg1234 , naaah...i have ridden most of these bikes, the streetfighter is exceptionally bad on fuel management,just100 miles on a full tank...1290 SDR has an amazing fuel economy of 150+ miles.
Reaally! you swine! thts priceless John is legend hahah 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ridden top 3, personal preference, but for street and sound, Tuono💃
Great review. Only gripe is that I wish they would have compared overall price and ranked them more with that in mind. There is almost a 14k difference between some of these bikes which is a whole second bike.
Hell that's two extra bikes if you're willing to enjoy small engines!
I’ll gladly take your stepchild MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR.
Was so looking forward to this video. As always great job guys! Now waiting for part 2 :-)
Seems like anything that sounds like a twin wins these tests all the time. Ought to do another test with blindfolds and earplugs that only lets you hear your own heart beating.
Aprilia will take it back in the track test.
I had the same question about the track episode How would the new v2 street fighter be compared? Maybe a silly idea to compare until price becomes a factor?
Another great video/comparison. But what about the Yamaha MT10?
"I'm goin with the Vega......it has cruise control"
Burnsie
A question for Mr John Burns: what do you do with your long hair so that after the ride it is possible to comb it? Especially after your highway part? Long hair are a pain.
Can we see more roll-on power test that has seem to have been lost through the years.
@@siraff4461 I just really enjoyed seeing roll on test because numbers can lie
This shootout doesn't really feel polished. Sucks about the rain. The results are a little too all over the place. Also can you release the best laptimes of each rider? Even with such little time, it gives a sense of performance or at least ease of use
With the new Superduke R EVO anounced with the semi active suspension.. Will the SDR move up to 1st place?
My thoughts exactly
Loved that intro music 👍👍👍
