XSR900 is kind of a "niche" bike as well, it has no place in standard bike tests like these, you see it sometimes in retro tests where it should be, I also thought about the MT-09 missing from this test but to the honest it has not got that much new like these other bikes the last year. But for my money I would put the MT-09 right up there on split second place with the Street Triple and put the Ducati on third place.

Same with the new Speed 1200 RS, it needs wheelie control and traction control seperate, at the moment you need to disable TC if you want to wheelie. Also the suspension is not electronic, these days its normal to have that on halo bikes (tuono factory, super duke 1390, mt10 sp etc all have it)

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Yeah I was thinking of that too, a used 890 R is much more bike for the money right now, later on when there is a 990R and you can find them on the used market maybe then the 990R will be the bike to have but that is at least 2-3 years away before you will be able to find a 990R used for better price since that bike has not even been released yet for all I know ?
It is weird the 890R actually has like only 1hp and 2-3 nm torque less but it also weighs a couple of kg's less which is more important in this small case I think. So at least on the spec sheet they are about the same powerwise. We need to wait for a 990R to see if they will add more power to that bike and what other parts like better brakes and such, but anyways the prices for these new bikes are already bonkers so a 990R with better parts and stuff would probably be around 20 000$ which is insane.
I remember when you could go out and buy a duke 790 or MT-09 for closer to 10 000$ After c0vid prices has just skyrocketed on almost everything, much more than it probably needs to which really hurts our economy in the long run, not only customers but also manufacturers that increases prices more than they have to are shooting themselfs in the foot.

Nice test guys, BUT "This sector of these bikes is all about value for money" should have been "This sector of these bikes WAS all about value for money" It feels like Triumph is one of those brands that leaves a lot of stuff out of their bikes just to be able to "refine" it and in later models add more stuff like sep wheelie control and stuff.
Has not the Aprilia Tuono v4 1100 factory has "Adjustable Antiwheelie" ? Where you can adjust how much antiwheelie you want ? I might be wrong but I have some kind of memory of that.
I tip my hat to KTM for making a big "roomy" bike without it being heavy, that is two separate tings people have a hard time separating.
The bike does not need to be heavy just because it looks bigger, the same thing goes the other way. I am 6'7 and 25 stones and I hate that bikes are getting smaller and smaller and that they make them look much more compact. I look ridic on bikes like the Street Triple or MV Agusta Brutale, I look more normal riding on the 990 Duke because it looks bigger as a bike, and still it is the lightest bike out of all of these, thank you KTM!

I test rode the 990 yesterday and have to agree that it is a super light, flexible bike with loads of grunt, a great riding position for me (reasonably upright, easy to get feet down, pegs not too high etc). The only two issues I had were I found the throttle too sensitive, even in rain mode, and the rear shock a bit harsh (no easy preload adjustment).

The weight of the KTM is 179 kg without fuel. As a suggestion, I would say that to make respectable comparisons, the first step is to test the motorcycles on a dyno to know their real power and weigh them on a scale with a full tank to avoid the mistake of confusing whether the manufacturer gives the dry weight or the wet weight.

I've owned the 765rs, first gen. This ones a lot different, but after you own it you run into the limits of the bike fairly soon. The potential of the bike always gets you, but they somehow don't seem to deliver and you end up moving on, eventually. Really looking forward to riding the 990. The 790 was a winner in so many ways.

Couldn't disagree more. The more I put into the bike, the more it gives back. The new one does "slow" a lot better ironically, due to the shorter gearing, but man when you open her up... 😬😬😬

Comparing a 765 to a 990 or a 950 seems a bit unfair. Also, I would not trust the KTM to be reliable. Puts the Triumph in first place for me.

Best under 1000cc has to be my 998cc 2018 cb1000r - reliable, gorgeous, fast enough 1/4 mile of 10.8sec and good fun on track. Oh and it cost only £7500 with a remap for 144hp on the wheel and full system exhaust.

How’s the Triumph a little over 11 grand?!
    It’s 11 and a half grand!
    Just over 11 grand is 11,099 maybe up to 11,250 it’s 11,499 !

My M1000R is a 999cc so under the 1000cc mark, as is the MT 10, R1, FIREBLADE, S1000RR, ZX10...to name but a few, why is that Ducati in this test, its the fastest and most powerful because it is practically a 1000cc motorcycle, makes no sense to include this bike here...

KTM wins, however I would not be looking back at it or look forward to cleaning it. I like to support the last business left in the UK, before it gets sold off by the Tory boys club. Gonna test ride a Street. Thanks.

KTM? Dynamic bikes. But maybe check out the reliability?
Just a casual trawl through TH-cam or Google will suffice.

Neevsey recently said as it’s subjective looks tend to be ignored on reviews!
The KTM’s looks sure we’re here!
Pig ugly front end only its mother could love!
No one (with eyes that work and who haven’t bought one) is ever going to call it beautiful!!
Despite the fact that it’s the most restrained LTM in terms of use of Dayglo Orange 🍊
I could not own a bike that ugly!
    The end!
(Ducati Panigale V2 if you want to know).
BTW test rode the Panigale V2 and thenSF V2 and the Streetfighter didn’t do it for me but rhe Panigale V2 was love at first ride!
    On a different level!

Why still include MV in these shoot-outs…? In all the shoot-out I watched in the last decade they always finished last. Also they are awful to look at! MT-09 should have been in this test.

The KTM 990 Duke is as much a "Sub-liter" bike as a S1000R, MT-10, or ZH2 wich Destroy the KTM... This is just stupid if you're going to put a 999cc KTM in, but not include the best "Sub-liter" bikes....🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
