Loved the video, paired with the thumbnail I didn’t realize until well into the video that you have only have 8k subs. You deserve way more!
Dude thanks!! I’m working on it! Hopefully I get to 10k next week and then companies can send me more handhelds and then we can go all in on the reviews
@@CyberDopamine You should review the MSI Claw when it starts to ship in US
how is lenovo held 3 hours vs asus 50 min and now you tell that asus still 50 and lenovo 1h.20
@@CyberDopamine u got 10k, congrats my dude! loved video. very helpful :)
Thanks man!@@turin1100
This is the best video about these handheld I’ve seen. Well done. Informative and well presented.
First just wanna say, thank you for the informative videos. You give great context and relatable scenarios/preferences, which makes it easy for a buyer to put themselves in that situation.
As it pertains to your video advice? Don’t change a thing with your format, it’s very concise. Don’t change the way you insert your opinions/experience, it’s helpful. THE ONE THING I can recommend, is to rewatch your videos again while editing before you post them. I’ve listened to a couple videos audio-only while I’m at work and I noticed a good handful of cuts that weren’t placed properly, some devices misnamed a few times which confused me while listening for a few seconds, until you elaborated. Really just editing/polish is the only advice I have.
TLDR: Just keep doing your thing your own way, and just polish up your edits, you’ll do great here man. 🤘🤘
Super nice of you. I fully respect this input it’s exactly what I wanted to hear. Part of it is impatience. Sometimes I just wanna get the video done so bad and I can’t help it so I skip through the fine details haha it’s a problem. Thanks for bringing it up
Anytime man! And hey, I don’t know jack about video editing or posting, so I’m sure it’s easy to miss things like this after hours of work. But getting these worked out now while you’re still growing will only benefit you later I’m sure. Keep up the good work dude 👍
Great review bro. I’ve seen multiple reviews on all 3 of these in comparison and yours was quick and to the point with the basics/pros and cons. Keep it up. 👍🏻
I get about 3-4 hours on my ROG Ally on a plane. It matters what type of games you’re playing and what resolution you’re playing at. Always bring a power bank if you intend on playing above 900p and 60fps.
Awesome video as always 🔥
If you are playing God of War @720p on Low settings using 15watts on the Steam Deck, but playing at 900p, medium settings, @25watts on the Ally, of course you are going to see a massive discrepancy in battery life, but you got a better gaming experience in return.
Can the ROG Ally last up to 6-9 hours playing emulators up to PS2? Assume 720 or 900p resolution.
@@Itsmemario24 Thanks. This is honestly the deciding factor for me between ROG Ally vs Steam Deck, since I already have a gaming PC. I hope to see these devices extend battery life in the future. It would change the world of gaming.
You hit most of my questions and have a relaxing voice. Looking forward to content. Subscribed. 💯
I have put so many hours in my original steam deck and then upgraded to the OLED, got my hands on the legion go and I’m blown away, performance with how good the screen looks it’s fantastic. While the solo performance is great, where this thing shines for me is using moonlight to stream my pc to it and running all my games maxed out at 1600p 144hz max settings is truly an amazing experience
Me also have the deck and the legion and is awesome
That's not really the performance of the device. That's nice to have. To use the GO as a portable gaming device that's doing the work vs. Steam Deck, the steam deck nails it.
Bro, thanks for this awesome review. I watched a bunch of reviews for all three and still couldn't decide. But, after your review I finally made up my mind and chose the ROG. I love how you used actual gameplay experiences you had and talked about them like you did with the gameplay audio experience for the ROG.
A lot of reviewers just talk more on the technical side and not so much on the gaming side.
You're doing great. I like the quick, honest review and time stamps. Keep posting! Earned a sub today. Cheers

Interesting that you uploaded this right when I was looking around to buy one of them this week lol
What did you get
@robifleming Got the legion go! I made the decision because 1. I got it for a steal but 2. The ROG Ally 2 is in the works and schedule to come out later in the year. Also, since it's windows it's great to take my work on the go.
great vid! love your calm voice!
there was a slip of the tongue on 8:29(Legion GO instead of Rog Ally :D)
To me i hope one day i'll get SD OLED cz of it's support and console like expirience. May be one day we'll see windows handheld OS but until then only SD

I have Legion Go and it awesome, but you're right about it's quality. I take it to any place I go in it's case and try not to drop it. But still there appeared a problem with M3 button (second Btn on right controller). It just stuck inside after press :c
I'm glad that no bind is on it
Very awesome video man. Went with the Ally for myself. Thanks for making this.

You can use the right analog on the ROG Ally as a mouse tho its not that difficult to use left and right click would be your RB and RT I use mouse and sometimes trackpad on my laptop and all I can say is that its just the same as using my laptop so I don't think having no trackpad is a big deal.
Got my sub bro thank you. You helped me make my decision

Great video I have subscribed!! Your doing great
Video was great, clean up audio, and lighting.
I just got a legion go last week, I play alot of Anime games on the go and since they're not super resource heavy I get like 3-5 hours of power out of it and I absolutely love it! Once I get somewhere that has an outlet I switch to heavier games, But otherwise were all good! Edit: As far as what you can do? You're doing great. the way you talk is clear and not fake or overbearing! Maybe do some follow up videos on these experience wise, Or how games run on all three etc.
Bigger screen also is good for subtitles
@@acutelilmint8035 Absolutely true! I also use it alot to watch shows when I'm in my office which often times is also subbed anime lol
Buy a powerbank, it's worth it. It could last you 2+hour if you're playing 3A game on balance mode, and 1.5 hour on perfomance
Great video. I've been very happy with my Steam deck + Playstation 5 combo. Feels like I'm pretty much set when it comes to gaming.
Love your vibe. Insta subscribe. Stay consistant and im sure youre going to grow!
The Legion Go does sound bad out of the box. But I was quite surprised by how much installing FXSound on it and just running the default profile helped on the sound. It basically just boosted the loudness without distorting or losing clarity. So I'll definitely recommend that. Especially since it's free. It won't get close to the other two because the speakers are still topfiring. But I will say that I think the sound on my Legion Go after installing FXSound is better than the sound on my Switch OLED even though that one has frontfacing speakers.
I wish more phones would have front facing speakers. No matter what you do, top/bottom firing speakers just don't have the clarity and quality without jacking up the volume.
When I saw the placement of the Steamdeck speakers I was thrilled, I can hear it so well even at lower volumes.
L
Excellent comparison, thanks!
great channel here. id say keep doing what you're doing. just stay consistent... as far as handhelds go, i don't see them running future AAA's very well. especially gta 6. its probably gonna be 200gbs or more too. but with wifi 7 here, you should be able to perfectly stream future AAAs to your handhelds at home. Which kinda future-proofs you. Keep up the good work. Subbed
Love the videos man❤❤
Thank you!!!
Great points. I wanted a retro emulation handheld. I did have an odin 2 but screen only 6 inches. I went for Legion Go as I wanted best experience for ps2 and gamecube emulation and the steam deck although can play them its not as good as legion Go as I've tried them side by side. The battery isnt anything to worry about as its not like I'm expecting demanding AAA games. And for my 50 year old eyes the large screen is outstanding especially older systems like snes, ps1 and gameboy advance. Thanks for uploading
You’ve got a satisfying voice bro 😂 like an asmr voice, nice to listen to
Love the flow of the review. It's informative and you're well articulated, your voice really convinced me with the steam deck!!
Do your thing mate, you're good at this
Thanks for this review. It convinced me to wait for the steamdeck 2.
Steam Deck 1 is pretty damn impressive as is.
Very good video. I've been playing on the Rog Ally for a few weeks now and I'm so interested in trying out the Legion Go though. That big display seems pretty nice.
Go for it! You can always return it if you dont like it
@@CyberDopamine does the Legion Go still have issues with the sticks? I heard there were huge issues with the deadzones and/or input lag
Good video man, im impressed
The Steam Deck is good enough for me. I already have a powerful gaming PC if I want to play something that is very intensive, so the Steam Deck is perfect for streaming my games from my PC or just playing a lot of emulation & indie titles.
Seems like the best choice for a pc owner. Makes alot of sense.
100% I wish i mentioned that
Same for me, for the hand-held, battery life is more important, if I want the best graphics possible, I'd use my PC.
A bit of a different take, while battery game is important for me I already have consoles on which I can play new games, I also have an older laptop with gtx970m. I started as a PC gamer back in ‘92, I never fully ditched PC which means I have backlog of games (sales, bundles, giveaways [quite a lot of games, to be frank]) so Steam Deck (in my case OLED) is a great device to explore my backlog. I like the fact I can start a game in which single levels are short and just play a bit (not worrying much about battery life as for such games it is 5-8h examples LEGO builder’s journey - finished it good game, cloud gardens, baba is you). From older bigger titles I now play Batman Origins (around 5h with settings I have on a single battery charge). I also have newer games like The Ascent or GameDec. How I use the device is either during longer travels when I can pick a game I know battery will last me for a few hours, or for shorter sessions in the evening when I’m fine with 2h game time.
while Desktop mode is usable with steam Deck controller it is still not optimized for it, but the experience is better than on windows. The gaming mode works for sure better than any windows handheld. What is more with dock and external display I also made deck my main PC (not for gaming but anything else) and it works for me just fine.
Sure there are some limitations and I will need to dig deeper to go around them (for example system language change which requires removing RO from system, and the fact scripts needs to be prepared to change the language each time after SD OS update as it simply flashes the whole OS image and overrides used made changes to OS files).
I subscribed to you because you are really good and yeah you haveca future on your keep it up
Hey mate, Timestamps would be perfect other than that, solid review first time here. Your video is on a great level thought u have around 200k subs tbh
Love your content, its informative and conclusive. Would love to see you update more about hand-held gaming. You just earned a sub🤙, I bought steamdeck OLED cause it remind me of my good ol PSP. Just switch it on and play, it's that simple.
Great video. Was actually dwelling on this for a while. Ended up purchasing a Legion Go two weeks ago then returned it after owning it for a week. It was a great piece of hardware but still felt underpowered based on my usage and the grip of the controllers and back buttons simply was not comfortable. I’ve held all 3 of these devices before and I’d say the ASUS ROG Ally is the most comfortable to hold and use.
I ended up just getting a Lenovo Legion gaming laptop with an RTX 4070
Hey bro nice video. In terms of track pad, which is better legion go or steam deck oled? For fps gaming
This is my first encounter with your channel and I really enjoyed this video, i was really more curious about the legion and the steam deck but learning about the ROG was actually pretty cool I’m not super into pcs and I’m not into the hand helds at all but I’ve been seeing a lot of steam deck ones and I saw a short in the legion and your video is number one on searches which makes sense as you literally compared the best ones available. Would you recommend just getting a laptop if I was to get the legion let’s say? I believe it was 699.99 before tax where I found it, and I could get a decent little travel laptop and home use for what 1000? I may be wrong..
channel improvements: ad transition screens maybe (maybe listing the specs on a screen w the device with footage of the device or whatever you’re talking about, price, title ect)
As many others mentioned down below figuring out chapters for these longer videos so people can skip to where they need information as not everyone will be like me and be completely clueless as to what all of these are.
Lastly just be consistent if you can’t push out multiple videos a week for whatever reason just pick one day a week, same time, same day every week and if you can do multiple do that. You will gain traction this video was spectacular
I pick the go.. i really haven’t picked up my steam since i got the go.. the extra power and the bigger screen really isn’t he deal breaker for me
You did a great job. All i can suggeest is more high quality B-Roll, and great lighting. MKBHD has great stuff to go off of. Keep grinding
Yes thank you. Could you tell the b roll was filmed from a phone?
I could listen to you read terms and conditions, sir. Amazing video and personally, I love my legion go but that’s mainly because I haven’t had my hands on the other two devices. The battery life is def a bummer though but thankfully I always carry a power bank.
Question, what rog are you running the extreme or other? I want to something to play deep rock and helldiver's on and I'm sick of dragging my laptop around with me.
I personally own a legion go and have been using it every so often for about 4 months.
A couple things either grazed over or not mentioned. The legion go has come a LONG way since launch with amazing software updates. Most notably, for me, was deadzone adjustments and configuring the stupid top buttons to start and select, which come naturally as the tdp screen and legion space hotkeys respectively, this update was huge, because i did not want to make a habit of pressing those bottom 2 buttons on the left stick for start and select, feels very unnatural. One thing you grazed over was the fact that you can detach both the left and right controller. This is the only handheld to do so. Yes there will be some wobble over time, but a couple pieces of electrical tape above and below the connector ports for the controllers on the device body fixes this issue, especially with the right one. It comes with VERY WELL MADE kickstand, which I personally use to flip over on my stomach on my bed, pillow under my arms, prop the legion up on the kickstand on the edge of my bed at a perfect angle, take the controllers off, and give myself the freedom of range of motion with wherever i want to rest my arms/hands to play. It took only about a day or 2 of consistent playing to get used to playing with the controllers off. Each controller has a separate individual battery. which lasts a LOOONGGG time. I played for about 2 hours yesterday and my controllers were only at around 95% from 100%. Another thing to think about is windows themselves are working on a new version of windows that is optimized and catered to windows handhelds, so if not being tech savvy is an issue, look out for when the new OS for the handhelds drop. If I think of anything else, I will come back to this comment and make an edit.
Great video cyber. Hope my personal feedback with the legion go is useful for somebody.
Cheers
I also own a legion go and agree it’s been really good. Though I’m only one month in
How often do u plan to upload in the future? I really enjoy your content 👍

Is a mouse necessary if is just only gaming you want to use it for?
@@user-yv5gv7be5j for windows and gaming and you can use steam OS.
@@user-yv5gv7be5jdepends on what you plan on gaming. Emulating and games not on steam or any game launcher you will be doing a quite bit of navigating. If you want to debloat and optimize windows for the ally it would be way easier. You don't need it but it makes life easier is all. You can still use your right analog and RB as a mouse in desktop mode so it can def be done without one. That being said I bought one for my Ally
I love my Legion Go ❤. You had help me purchase it last night

Hey, do you want to buy me one too?
Awesome vid, if u had a choice of one of these which would it be?
Love my oled steam deck. It is perfect for the type of games I want to play on the go. The oled screen is beautiful too.
Hey on gamers Nexus he had terrible 1% lows what's your experience with that?
Great video
Depends, with the Steam Deck you might run into problems with game compatibility especially those which are multiplayer & anti cheat enable. But it’s a solid gaming device from the moment you boot it up and just get straight into gaming. And with Linux as its operating system, it is a lot more optimal with battery depending on the game you play, you get about 2-3 hours with AAA games or 5-6 hours with indie games.
On the other hand, with the the ally and legion go, you will get full game compatibility due to it’s using window as its operating system. The problem is window sucked in power consumption & optimisation because window was not met to be build to be as optimal for handheld. Another part you need to know is that you need it to treat it more of a computer, not everything is going to work with the controllers so be prepare to touch the screen a lot which something I would find annoying.
Lastly competitive pricing with the cheapest model of the deck is at least 300$ brand new at some places while the ally and its window brothers are selling at 600$ and above.
At the end of the day, you are the gamer, you choose what make it comfortable for you and what you truly want. Don’t get mix up into the Steam Deck Vs Ally stuffs blindly. That will be all from me, thanks you for reading.
Mate, I’ll give you my sub 👍🏼
Another fantastic video, my advice would just be stay consistent and explore new content. I know it's easier said than done but maybe create a schedule like 2 uploads a week and maybe explore products like ayaneo or razer Edge wifi or even scuffed handheld pcs from aliexpress etc, I would suggest you do eventually explore new areas of content other than handheld gaming devices to increase your fan base and maximise your content so you never run out of ideas. Best of luck.
Dude yeah you’re right about expanding on different handhelds. I want to except companies won’t send me their devices haha. Once I hit that 10k mark I bet they might consider. But yeah that’s a huge plan! Thanks for taking the time to mention this it means a lot
Very straight to the point video. The Deck OLED is the only option for gaming on the go. Pause resume is a killer feature. But buddy you need to get the Decky CCS extension that makes your custom suspend video fullscreen.
Love this review. Most of the reviews about these handheld gaming devices are that they only talk about how good they are on papers and not how good they actually are in real life situations. I need to know how realistically these devices perform so this review is really for me
Love my ROG Ally, got it at launch. Upgraded to a 2TB ssd, and have put well over 1500 hours on it.
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiz bruh. What games do you play?
@@CyberDopamine may have exaggerated a little I’m actually around 1000 hours. But mostly Elder Scrolls online. Here lately it’s been helldivers 2.
I have a Legion Go. Total in love
The part where you said your friend James threw it off a roof had me like, "excuse me what?"
yeah he did
Totally agree with you about the performance of Rog Ally and Legion Go. I wanted to buy absolutely a Legion for the big screen but I made my research and I could smell that Rog Ally was having a higher performance despite the Legion Go has a better Ram, this happens especially for the emulation. Anyway this was confirmed when i tested it personally, I can't say why exactly but the Rog Ally push it really to the limit, maybe is just better optimized.
Great video. Very casual and nicely organized. Speaking objectively, my suggestion would be to tighten up your closing. Since it's so difficult to definitively answer the inevitable "which one is best" question, instead maybe call out which you'd keep if you could only keep one. By the end of the video I felt you'd established enough viewer credibility to conclude the presentation with your choice, rather than re-hash the "it depends" answer. It'll probably be easier to write too, since you can work backwards from your conclusion.
Great job! Subbed. :)
i made a handheld focused Discord! Also thanks for the love. And remember, youre freaking awesome

One upgrade that be nice is when your showing the devices off on the table get a bright light over you or maybe a bright head light. I like to check out your goodies. Cheers
Does the the Rog ally play iracing pretty good? can’t find any videos of anyone playing it
I went with the Legion Go, because I can easily play both Steam and Gamepass games. My main grip with the Legion Go's uncomfortable sharp corners on the controllers.
You can’t play steam and game pass games on Rog ally?
I just wanted to say I appreciate your speaking voice and volume, tech videos with over the top, loud TH-camr voices are so annoying. Very well done! Thanks for the video.
I do play shooter games however just now getting into rpg and arpg and will only be using it on short trips or at night near bed with long charging cable lol so which should I get? lol or should I wait for rog 2 or claw or just get go? I also work in IT so not worred about the windows environment at all.
If you ask my opinion, if you can wait then I'd wait for ROG Ally 2.
Claw is nothing special. Meanwhile ASUS had a dip on the market already an will surely revise the new Ally to the market's demands.
Otherwise, just get the Legion Go at this point for performance or SD OLED for battery life.
I got my steam deck for emudeck. I get 4 hours playing ps2 and GameCube games. Perfect for what i need. Until there's more powerful handhelds with better batteries I'm not thinking about AAA titles on the go
I love screen size so the go is good. Im hard of hearing so headphones for me is crucial
The fact that you have extensive experience with these devices, and you own all three makes you super qualified to compare them. Love this video. I hope you make more. I'm strongly considering an Asus ROG Ally as a complete replacement to my old gaming pc, and will plan to use it docked 90% of the time and handheld 10% of the time (when travelling).
Question on the ROG Ally: Can the battery life be extended to say.... 6-9 hours in a low powered mode for playing emulators (up to PS2 era)? This is a big deciding factor for me, since I really want a handheld device to run all my emulators and be able to play them on longer flights. I essentially want a device that can be used as a permanent replacement to my old gaming pc, but then when I travel, I can just undock it and play emulators for 6-9 hours while travelling.
will need to stick with the steamdeck as its the only handheld with two good trackpads. I use custom configs for all my games and I like them more than the joysticks 80% of the time
keep in mind with the battery life that if run at the same resolution and power as the steamdeck (so 800p and 15w) the rog ally and ESPECIALLY the lenovo legion go are about on par (or better for the lenovo), its not fair to compare them at their max when ally and lenovo are twice as powerful and have higher resolutions, gotta put them on the same wattage, resolution and brightness for a fair test. And in that case they're pretty similar. Also, rog ally and lenovo charge twice as fast as the steamdeck.
Keep up the good work.
This is My recommendation list.
Buy the Steam Deck oled if you want a comfortable(Very good battery life(3hours+ on average) and much better controls in my opinion as a Playstation and Xbox gamer)and okay portability as well as better support(software and community) in addition it is the best bang for the buck.
Buy The Rog Ally if you want okayish battery life and the most optimized windows handheld(for now) and maximum portability.
Buy the Legion Go if you have no qualms or worries and just wants the best performance and hardware without worrying about portability(it is not portable at all)
VRR is a must-have for many gamers, including me. So the rog ally is the only option
@@mitbedacht1285many users have reported than no vrr on the legion isnt very noticeable
@@nathanchevalier5036 I had the Legion, ofc it's noticible
@@mitbedacht1285 VRR is not A must for Handheld gaming yet as they are still making games for the PS4 and guess what the steam deck is as fast a PS4, also VRR is not needed in 800P Low medium.
That said Ally still is better than all windows handheld and a very close second to the steam deck
What would you say for rpg games like Diablo 4, path of exile, last epoch, enshrouded etc?
The main job of VRR is to eliminate screen tearing when playing games. Tearing is a kind of visual glitch, where the image on your TV shudders mid-frame before carrying on as before. So i am thinking 40 50 60 fps would have 2 to 3 hz for everyone frame. So seems like vrr would be less needed. Seems more of a selling feature then a need. From what i seen you have to look at the corners to even see a bit of something. Feels like when people say deck not runing windows so you dont have to deal with updates and some fooling atound as they say. But just windows like your computer, no real big deal. Games are all made to run on windows in the first place.
Any thoughts? or am i just a lost boy lol cheers
Subbed great hearing different train of thinking. Not agree fully but I think that's a good thing. Love the information thanks
I love the rog ally the only thing it really lacks is the battery I get about 1 hr of it for ratchet and clank rift… I always carry a portable charger with me tho so it’s not really a problem
the steam deck was the perfect purchase for me because i play all the big games like AAA on my playstation and the smaller ones on the deck. its truly a blast that im able to play something like modded minecraft or fallout 4 in my hands, on the bed.
Cant wait for my legion go!
I found a power bank that magnetizes to the back of the ROG ally and it makes it last 3 or 4 hours in turbo mode. Really nice if you ask me. On top of that i have a 65 watt car charger so if i ever take a long trip, ill still get tubo mode with the 64w charger. So, problem solved. Ill take incredible resolution and fps everday if it means car chargers and power banks. It looks way better then the steam deck. Just gotta optimize it. Set the gpu to 6g, the battery to 20w, and turn cpu boost off and it runs amazing. Mw3 does 1920x1080 100 to 110 fls and looks incredible.
Had all of them and oled deck still best because of battery and screen.on a single charge I can play last epoch overv4 hours
I still have my OG deck from July 2022, and I've put in thousands of hours on it, not a bad device.
Little series maybe testing certain games on these? I see you’re mostly covering these platforms so far
I plan to buy one of this handhelds just to play and practice tekken 8 while travelling... which is the best one for this game? looking forward for comments and suggestions thank you.
Tbh bro u can’t go wrong with the rog ally I jsut got mine and I love it but I would recommend to carry a charger pack with you cause depending on the game it drains battery
@@ImOziy I agree with you. The Legion Go is just too big to be transported all the time and it's heavy for a handheld too.
Steam Deck is a good choice too, you install and play, not much tinkering involved. But Rog Ally isn't a bad choice
I've got a steam deck lcd and rog ally z1 extreme.
I haven't touched the sream deck since i got it
How is battery life?
when I was in the market for a pc handheld. the sd card slot problem at the time with the ally turned me away.im sure that's gotten better but its to late for me I already purchased the legion.to be honest I'm not disappointed at all. I always had the steamdeck but I haven't used it much since I got the legion.
