The Legion Go and Rog ally have been dualbooted with Bazzite OS/SteamOS to replicate the Steamdeck OLED experience Here we run battery test, benchmarks and walkthrough/installation to give you an idea on if its worth it.
This video took me 14 hours and 54 Minutes to make.

@@CyberDopamine Where was the batterytest for Rog Ally? Not that good number or what happened?
Thanks! Though…a lot of talk but I see no real tests as same game, same settings, W11 vs BOS to understand the lows, average fps and battery consumption when doing it. Does TDP settings really works? Standby? Etc etc etc
No I said in the video, I don’t have all the time in the world to test every little thing
@@CyberDopamine No I know you said that, but when you say in every video that the rig ally is “the beat thing ever” that should have been your main focus hehe. Not the lousy boring LGO
Man looks like a giga Chad but sounds so gentle
because that's who a giga chad is.
Make a tutorial please! I would appreciate it
You’re my first vote. I’m thinking about it
@@CyberDopamine I second this!
@@CyberDopamineI'd love to see one too please, I know the pain of how long it took to install. I dual booted my steam deck with windows too. I've had to do it 3 times as firmware updates tend to break it since its not officially supported yet. It has got easier each time, the first time round it took me 2 days, 10 hours total since it was literally the first version of the install process with no audio drivers at first 🤣🤣
yes please ❤
Yes plssss
Thank you for making your videos on Bazzite, they're great! If you ever want to chat about Bazzite please reach out to us. I'm the lead dev and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
Oh heck yeah dude!!!!!! Thats freaking awesesome. Thanks for all the work you've put in
Great vivid and in depth detail love your videos Cyber ❤great content!!
Good vid going to give this a try on my legion go, for someone who is learning you did a great job man
You’ve got great energy man. Well spoken and chill, like the music you picked, thanks for the help here.
Man this is how you talk to your viewers! Subscribing for sure
Hello man, your channel is amazing, and these videos are NEEDED in the community, thank you so much for your support.
one small advice for the channel since Iwant it to be bigger :
if you could do time stamps of the video... and I think that would help all of your videos tremendously !
Dude. Love the vibe of the video. It eould be totally awesome if you could do a video of the setup, especially for the Ally and bazzite. Really appreciate all the effort you put into this video, man. I am so happy to have discovered your content a few months ago. Keep em coming👌👌👌👍🏾☺️
On it!
Thanks dude for this , been waiting for a bit of testing and this is perfect 👍 very temping to do but battery was not what I was hoping.
No problem 👍
Actually I take that back , is worth it lol , regardless , I’m pretty on point with the battery consumption so really it no biggy , might be worth the dive 😂
Do it!!!! Spice things up a bit. Handhelds are for fun!!!! @@zwiifty1237
Will look into this. Must say I've sold my Rog now after getting legion go I couldn't go back to the smaller screen. Not saying the Rog is no good I just preferred the larger screen especially emulation for ps2 and gamecube. I'm not too good at things like this so will keep an eye out if you do a tutorial .. as for battery I'd rather have the bigger display than 30 more minutes, but I'm 50 years old so need larger displays 😂😂 thanks for uploading buddy.
@@pbarratt73You want big screens? It’s not cheap, but the Xreal Air (they have a 2nd gen by now) should be compatible with your Legion Go. The refresh rate might be slightly lower (120hz vs 144hz), but the tradeoff is probably worth it for you. Screen goes way bigger
Thanks for the video, it was very informative and I'll definitely be setting up dual boot soon.
It's a shame there's no battery improvements but I can live with it.
If you don’t already have Clover installed I recommend it. Clover lets you pick which OS you want to boot into when you’re powering on your device
Does it work with the legion go for windows and bazzite?
@@kaluimoku2467 yes it does but you have to install it on bazzite or any Linux os. There’s TH-cam videos that show how and it’s very simple
No point, why would someone ever boot in to windows when you have bazzite?
@@bonkerbanker Destiny, Warzone, gamepass, etc.
@@bonkerbanker For all the games that aren't supported on Linux?
Bro, I can already tell you will blow up. Great video, thanks for all information.
This is so cool, thanks for taking the time to run those benchmarks and sharing!
Great analysis and thank you for your in depth findings.
I have done a similar thing using chimera os, which is the same as Steam OS(similar to BazziteOS). It has been great so far! Really enjoying it. I have installed simple Simple Decky TDP, as you did for the ability to change the power which was also missing on ChimeraOS. Much prefer it to windows 11. Glad you enjoyed your experience to on BazziteOS. Great video!
Just got an Ally, and I love it. I cpuldnt see myself instaong SteamOS to it simply cuz i love my RetroBat Support and all of my retro games but this was a really informative video! New Subscriber Unlocked!!!
You got yourself a new subscriber! Well-done!
G’day king - I asked on another video if you recommended the Steam Deck or Legion Go, you recommended the LeGo and I bought one. Best decision I’ve ever made (even better that the person who sold it to me gave me the legion glasses for free - although they aren’t too great tbh).
Will definitely be looking to get a 4tb SSD and do a dual boot with Bazzite. Loving the content dude, appreciate your thoroughness and vibes!!
Dude that is freaking awesome!!!! I love hearing that!!!! Have an absolute blast with it that makes me happy
Finally someone makes a video about this, and an incredible good one as well. Thanks a lot
Heck yeah thank!! Glad I was able to fill in the gap
@@CyberDopamine 🥰 did I got it right u dual booted, is there a tutorial u followed ? I'm not really familiar with dual booting Linux and windows
@@kewa_design yeah if you type on Bazzite on legion to there’s a dual boot guide. I might make one that can also teach you how it works so the next time around you’re not stuck inside the cave you know what I mean?
haha u are so kind thanks, i will figure it out, especially because im on the ally. thanks anyway@@CyberDopamine
Your English sucks. @@kewa_design
Brilliant. So much better, i should have done this with my ROG Ally, but i have since returned it. I wanted it for GamePass which i cant use on Steam OS. But you have once again proved that this is the the way for these devices.
There is one thing i want to say and it is that you are doing amazing job! even though i dont have any handhelds i just enjoy your videos. Also you dont need to be sorry for not having scientific tests for plus minus 3 frames, we are gamers and we just test games exactly as you do and it feels closer to reality and what we are used to than when i watch deep dive benchmark videos where i dont understand half of it.
Please make more videos comparing Windows and Bazzite performance on these two handhelds! I’m surprised to see that battery life did not improve and to get the conveniences of sleep/resume mode along with a console UI you have to give up game compatibility.
I would also be interested in seeing more performance benchmarks at 15W and lower between bazzite and Deck OLED. Thanks for making this video, I was looking for some comparisons like this the other day and I found nothing like this.
Bought a Legion Go last week, but waiting until I clearout some of my other computer stuff before I let myself use it properly… 😂
Really like the videos you put you on the channel.
You might not want to wait, Cloud Saves will allow you to play those PC titles and transfer the saves easily between PC and handheld. Steam also allows a "Streaming" option for the handhelds where the PC runs the game while screen-sharing to the handheld. This allows you to run the same PC game portably within your house so you can play in bed, or in the bathroom if you really wanted to. This way you can easily play large games you might not have the room to install on the Legion Go, stuff like Ark Survival Evolved that takes up nearly half a terabyte by itself.
I’ve already got an Ayaneo , but they really shit the bed on getting a replacement battery. I don’t really need my main desktop now, so will get rid and just use the Legion Go. I don’t play stuff that takes up comical disk space. @@thebluestig2654
The Bazzite devs seem to be doing a really good job, impressive how well everything works already considering how relatively new it is :)
Agree with the want for a tutorial. This is amazing…thanks for the effort. I would love to duel boot and have the advantage of steam os on the ally.
Glad that BazziteOS has worked well for ya 😁In my opinion, the LGO with Bazzite basically feels almost identical to a Steam Deck with SteamOS, with the added benefit of detachable controls and a very nice screen + awesome kickstand.
not vrr = shit
@@eddiexavier5087only one handheld has vrr as of now, (not counting msi claw) so everything is shit? That's your logic?
@@naavidmorshed5516idk how much clearer he can be

VRR is kind of a must have i agree but just flat out stating everything is shit just because it lacks this one feature is a bit of an exaggeration @@vu1cana
Love the content dude, keep it up!
Thanks homie!
Damn, this is interesting. I recently picked up an Ally and admittedly, I'm not crazy about the idea of Windows running it, since it's not optimized for handhelds. The idea of dual-booting it makes it more appealing now. I was thinking of returning it, but I may keep it now and try this.
Great video my man
Good video. Seems like a lot of effort but glad you got good results.
Hahah effort like crazy but so worth it. Thanks!
Great vid man!
im so glad you made this video, i started hating my legion go bc windows on a handheld just aint it. i ended up going the same route as you and wow, its like a stead deck on steroids‼️‼️
That’s awesome!!!
i've seen one of your videos before, no im subbed, i would've liked to see a bit more of the whole ui, the sleep and wake mode, maybe some docking testing but i still liked it, you're pretty chill too
Amazing video as always mate
Thanks a lot Skyrim!
This is crazy! you have my sub!
Subscribed!! Great video. A dual boot install video would be awesome!!
Coming soon!
Awesome content. Subbed!
Your videos are relaxing and easy to follow. So pointless points and loud music
Came for the content, stayed for the incredible cheekbones. 👌
Hahahahaha
Thanks for making the video and taking the time to run these experiments!
Is sounds like the main benefits are a more console like experience, per-game power profiles, and a smoother standby/wake up sequence. But compatability and performance vs windows depends on the proton layer, and battery life is basically the same. Is that all correct?
That jawline is insane!
Thank you for this video. It's awesome to know that this is possible. I just wish the newer EA games would work with something like this. I play Madden way too much to switch to something like this. My solution now for the console experience is to use Bigbox as the Windows shell.
Did you confirm to set the cpu power draw to battery saving then in the new settings underneath set it to balanced then the tdp to 15 in decky loader before the test or did you just do the tdp to 15?
It's the same as setting the power mode on windows to balanced instead of efficiency and performance, in fact the bazzite version should have two more settings which are inbetween they are power saving-balance and performance-balance.
Was hoping to see the battery life improve when swapping over to SteamOS... looks like steamdeck oled truly is the best option in that regard. Still really cool to see TDP/Performance balancing of Steam OS on the other handhelds! Great work!
The deck does perform better at lower TDPs, when matched like for for like the battery life is basically the same
The Steam Deck's efficiency is due to its custom APU, not SteamOS.
@@conchobarwell yes, but surely a more efficient OS could help aid longevity.. if only by a little. But yeah, I’m aware it’s primarily the APU.
Man this really makes me wanna give it a try on my GPD Win Max 2 (2023).
Great Vid. Love the disclaimer rather than someone who talks and pretend to know everything 💚💚
Thanks and salute 🙌
Nice review, man!
you should do benchmark too, compare some games in Windows and this OS
You got a new follower. Nice vibes talking.
What was your resolution on the legion when u ran the battery test?
Hi. I just came here in your channel and video. Out of topic, which do you prefer? The Ally or Go?
I love your videos!
Did it drain battery more faster because of dual boot? Did you ever try with single OS (Bazzite) only?
I know this isn't relevant to the video but i haven't found a video or a post explaining it. Is the steam deck and legion go performance on decked mode similar or is the legion go better. I have to know if i connected it to my 4k pc monitor whether it will look good, have fps drops etc because it it does its not that big of a difference to the steam deck
No it doesn’t matter. It can totally be 4k and work like a normal computer. But when you play games, you’re gonna have to take down the resolution
I liked and subscribed. Dual boot tutorial soon please lol
Tomorrow morning!
I suppose the vrr is only allowed to enabled on the rog ally correct? Or can you enable it on legion go and does it work if you can.
What about Chimera OS in comparison to Bazzite OS whish would you recomend. I ask because Chimerais based on Arch just like Steam OS and Bazzite is base on Feudora.
Question about updates for legion go software/bios - How do we do those firmware updates on the seam os? Do we need to flash back to our windows to do those updates and then they will work with SteamOS?
Same with drivers like AMD etc, how do those updates work when on SteamOS or BazziteOS?
hi, can I check with you, do u have tdp problem? I have problem while installed bazzite os, and my bios is v29.1, the tdp always running up and down, while I switched 15w and 20w, it never stable at 15w, it always up down from 10 to 15w. And sometimes it will drop below 5w when turned off custom tdp and custom fan curve.
@cyberdopamine : How's the scenario with MicroSD cards on both OS? Since both OS uses different file formats for their external removable storage
Hi ! i loved your videos.Im looking to buy sometime soon one of those ones. Are you planing to buy the MSI CLAW? I would love to see it comapred to the ALLY and GO. Have a great day, cheers from Chile
Great video!
quick question, the system on your Steam Deck looks different then what i have on mine. is that what the OLED version comes with or did you download it?
You talking about the theme for steamOS?
Good job 👍
Good afternoon. My rog ally has the defect if the arsenal and command center buttons, in addition to m1 and m2, and the lights do not work. many rog ally had already happened. this problem. Is there any way to open decky other than through the command center?
Did all the driver going well??? I mean, no problem with the sound? Or the wifi? Or the bluetooth? I watch a video with chimeraOS and it have this problem...
Does it support icc color profile? The screen of Legion go uses incorrect color space making srgb content oversaturated
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel. I would like your opinion on whether to go for the Ally $399 z1 or a steam deck oled $549? I have PS5, Xbox one X and Switch and PC.
Steamdeck
A tutorial would be very much appreciated, great video!
Working on it
Silly question, do you need to install games twice, so on both OS-s or once is enough and both OS-s can handle it?
There is a way to do this in Ubuntu if the game is installed in Windows first. It's sort of buggy, tho. It is a fully manual process, and I would not recommend it. I dont believe this is something bazzite has tools to automate.
hows the battery drain in sleep mode? and does the fans work while in sleep mode?
Thank you!!!! 😁
Would love the ROG Ally tutorial!
Cant get Decky to work on my Ally. None of the button get it pulled up while in gaming / desktop mode. It is confirmed installed based off of the terminal response. Any tips?
This dudes energy is peaceful af lol
banger video bro
Appreciate it
waited for the performance charts and never saw them
Wrong channel.
If you dual boot and have a game installed on the steam side can you play it on the windows side? Or is it only playable on the os it was downloaded on.
You can play it on both partitions, as long as you are logged in with your account in both
Bazzite on the Legion go is incredible. Literally turns it into a giant, much more powerful Steam Deck. That's all I really wanted when I bought it originally anyway.
I've been running bazzite on my desktop PC for several months now,
Rx7900XT
R7 5800X3D
16gb ddr4
Its been a good time, it saddens me that Bazzite doesn't get much coverage in the Deck and Linux space on TH-cam. All i ever see is ChimeraOS and Holoiso
This is the reason for me to upgrade to a 2TB drive - please do a tutorial on the dual boot install
OMG not done with your video yet BUT I WANT THIS ON MY LEGION GOOOOO
Thanks for delving into it apart from aru who shows you how to install this, there's no one covering this I've silently hoping for a one shot install image with everything preloaded for the go 🤞if that ever happens plus I hear bios and over bazite updates have kind of broken the system before. Can you play games from your windows partition, steam & non steam games and switch between playing them on windows and bazite without tweaking anything?
Aru is an absolute G! I wish we could play games from windows partition but that is a tough one since its a whole diff operating system and the partition blocks off that part unless for boot
Damn I was hoping for a yes plays games from where ever I have 4 tb 2280 ssd on an angle M.2 addapter enclosed in my Le go mostly filled with games, the only way I could take advantage of this was dual boot and playing from a Seperate partition
Can you use integer or lossless scalling on bazzite?
bro, this is #clutch
hey, that looks very promising, but does it work for game pass games ?
Which is closer between this and chimeraos?
Good Vid
The msi claw is out bro!!
How well does VRR work on the Ally?
As usual, AMAZING content, have you done a tutorial on this yet?
Yes I have!
@@CyberDopamine cool will find it, thanks as usual bro!
What keyboard have you connected to the Legion Go?
Razer huntsman mini. Love this thing so much
more videos on this please
Does sleep mode work well with the Go & Bazzite?
oh yeah
thank you! i'll dual boot it with bazziteOS right now. downloading the source.. the sleep/wake function is killing me in windows, i've enough!
I changed it to hibernate and it fixed my sleep issues
@@danhle1032 when it works, it works. but sometimes hibernate fail the game and it closes when i came back. i've already rocked the bazziteOS, what i notice is the idle RAM usage in bazzite is 3GB, while in windows, it idles at 6GB. sleep and wake is also amazing, now, i don't care if i need to reach save progress first before going to do anything else, just press power button then do anything else, after i cameback the game will continue whereever i leave in a second or two.
great video 😉 can you write the titles of the songs you used?
does it work with the XG mobile on the rog ally?
After spending so much time with it, might as well make a guide video on it.
alright alright
