The Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally, and Legion GO are some of the best PC handheld techs there are to date. Each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses. But I think the bigger aspect of which to choose comes down to which PC handheld fits your needs and what you're going to be playing on them. In this video, I break down each of them, their pros, their cons, and what makes them stand apart.

So which does PlayStation premium play on?
@@JamarHotep Technically all of them. Legion Go and ROG Ally is where you want to go for ease of use, but you can do the same thing with the Steam Deck with a workaround.
Cheers for in depth overview though any non-adsense beyond the first minute (or at very end or both are fine) really degrades rest of video, are skipped over, and makes less likely to watch future videos ^^;;
Lenovo hands down . I bought this because i was hogging the TV when playing PS5 . Now i can sit on the couch and play without the threat of divorce .
Understandable.
Will look into this, I also do not want a divorce 😂
Good little simp. Obey. Happy wife, happy life.
lol I’m sure many men can relate to you.
Since I have my Steam Deck OLED, waiting has never been so much fun. The convenience to just pull it out of my bag and jump straight into a paused game is just perfect.
I own the Legion go. Its very good , Display is fantastic . The benefit with the go is that you use it as Tab watch movies and more than gaming.
Legion go baby all the way
Ally much better bro
Legion go is big hevay & not all games run smooth like ally
@@GokuDUchiha🤷🏻♂️ too heavy😂 no problems here I like being able to see what's on my screen and not have to squint
@@GokuDUchiha it's not very heavy to me. also after driver updates they have identical performance on everything.

Wow. I'm too poor for this video. 😂

The most underrated feature on Legion Go is that it comes with 2 USB port! You can charge and plug in an xreal glasses anywhere without extra dock. That's priceless.
That's a great point. I can't use the Xreal personally but a lot of folks love it.
Xreal glasses?
love how you go over the color calibration of the screens, its important to me and most reviewers skip over it. I got a great color profile for the legion go, ill link it here on an edit if I remember how to share it
Link it up. I'd love to check it out.

What a comprehensive video about the handheld steam machines, Rudy!! :D Thank you so for much for your time and effort ^_^
I was randomly mulling over how these three stack up after all these months. Went on TH-cam to hunt for comparisons, and what do you know, you've just posted the exact video I was on the lookout for, by sheer coincidence.
It's like it was meant to be.
Lenovo must have done this guy dirty in the past because the battery life is the same as the ally but he rates it worse and he speculated that it’s more prone to breaking despite having a broken ally and a perfectly functioning go
So which one did you get?
so what did you end up buying?
I would appreciate your input on the matter. As it stands, I think given a bit more time to iron out the quirks, I think the Legion GO is best for me, especially considering Bazzite is available and will likely only get better. But there’s still something about the Deck that’s drawing me in for some reason…
Underrated SD feature: instant sleep suspension and wake. Makes it truly feel like a pick up and go device that can be played at any time. Windows simply isn’t built for that
I also have windows installed on a microsd for anti-cheat games (I’m amazed I can play modern warfare 3 on this). This thing does everything. The only thing it’s missing out on more performance but it still has been able to play everything great and if I want to have the highest end experience I’ll just play on my desktop. I personally couldn’t deal with having the windows jank be part of my core handheld experience
Sleep mode on windows will wake up the device quickly but will drain some battery overtime. With Hibernate mode my device takes about 10s to wake up and it doesn't drain the battery at all.
What kind of performance do you get on cod? And what settings?
It was close for me between ROG Z1 and Legion I went with the ROG and love it . All I can say is the next generation of these bad boys is going to be crazyyyy
Great comparison video!
Thanks! Much appreciated! 🙌
Loving my Legion Go!!! Planned on getting it and returning it and trying the Ally before making a final decision, with steam deck as a backup plan. But this gigantic beautiful screen, and removable controllers are a no brainer. The buttons and sticks feel so great! And it’s not heavy at all for me. The controllers are SO ergonomic unlike the Ally and Switch. Speakers are no problem. I didn’t even download audio software like people suggested. They sound fine. Fan noise is not even noticeable to me unless I have it plugged in to the TV and set the TDP to 30. And it has TWOOO USB C ports? This means I don’t NEED a dock to play on the TV. Just USB C to HDMI on the top, charger on the bottom and I play for hours. And did I mention THE KICKSTAND??? It’s amazing. Better than the switch. Not only is it great for standing the Legion Go upright, but it allows you to stand it up ON ITS SIDE. Perfect for laying in bed and resting on your side with controllers to your side relaxing. Can’t do that on other handhelds. I don’t even need to prop the Legion Go up on a pillow to play it on its side. The kickstand does it all. It’s so substantial. This also means when I plug it in to the TV I can just use the stand to have it on its side so there’s no issue with the cords. Battery life hasn’t been an issue either. With 2 charging ports, I can just plug in if needed. In whichever direction is convenient at the time. But even then, I haven’t had an issue considering game in short bursts.
Being windows, I get any game I want. Gamepass got me Starfield, Deathloop, Coral Island, FarCry 6 and more. Other games I downloaded from their site. And then I downloaded Steam for my first time ever. Then BOOM Steam sale. So now I have a handful of other games. Next comes emulation. Any game I want, I have access to!
This thing is great. There’s no way I could use one of these others where the controllers don’t even come off.
use geforce now on it for 4080 ultra gaming
& Here In India We Are Waiting For The Legion Go To Launch Like For Decades
Dont Know Whats Lenovo Upto
I Really Want to Buy The Legion Go Instead Of Asus Rog Ally
But This Temptation Of Playing AAA Games In A Freakin Handheld PC Is Killing My Patience For The Launch OF The Legion Go 😭
@radiobits3007 I do cause it's not a big deal and they doesn't sound so bad like everyone says, it's acceptable. Also when I play, most of the time I use headphones
@@radiobits3007 yeap im a lenovo go owner and daily user speakers aren't that bad just wish they were forward facing but i use headphones for most of my handheld gaming. wireless earbuds make it a much better audio experience
@@treywilson9212 there are a number of TH-cam videos and reddit posts that show how to get much better sound from the internal speakers. It makes a world of difference even though it doesn't completely fix the problem.
Being able to dual boot SteamOs via BazziteOs and use a gaming front to make Windows gives us a console like experience. Does require initial setup, but imo it's worth it. Works seamless and I haven't had any issues with my Ally once it was set up. I did make a custom Os with NTLite and removed a ton of stuff from Windows to make it very lightweight. With these things in mind for me the Ally is a nobrainer. With Skull & Co grips it feels solid to hold as well. And the placement of thumbsticks is exactly like on the Xbox controllers. Feels so good to hold imo.
Also where did you get that super cool Majora's Mask replica/stand??
I went with a legion go. use case for this hand held for me is not just for gaming so versatility is the key. in my opinion the legion go screen size is the minimal you need to have in able to work stuff effectively in a windows OS...or am just getting old and can see my work better on a larger screen lol. Its large enough to be used as a tablet pc with the added bonus that it can also game. the kickstand is just genius, I've used this thing on its kickstand more than holding it on my hand. there are 2 USBc ports too which is super useful. clicking things and touch typing on the on screen keyboard is also easier on a larger screen.....sausage fingers I know but it is what it is lol. played with a test unit of an dog ally in my local best buy and I instantly knew I'll be cursing on that thing working windows on that tiny ass screen.

Just got the OLED Steam Deck, playing Yakuza 0 at 45FPS / 90Hz and getting like 5 hours of playtime is really nice. 👍
I'm aware that it's an older title, but the image looks crisp at high settings, no blurry pixel mishmashing like FSR is required, it can play at rock solid 90FPS as well, I just prefer to have slightly more battery life.
Just commenting on this since saying 1.5 hours of battery life couldn't be farther from the truth, I'm not even talking about a 2D game here. I have an LCD deck as well, can check the expected battery life on it if you'd find it useful.
Yeah I agree, I’m getting exceptional battery life with the deck OLED… playing DQ 11 at 45 FPS looking super crisp getting close to 5 hours… I played Tunic at 80fps and was getting like 3.5 hours…. I’m not sure how he could get 1.5 hours even pushing it to its limits
what about the fact that you have to play on 800p compared to 1200 or even 1600p with the other ones
@@AqroMedia Idk, never tried the others. But I'm quite satisfied with this resolution on a 7 inch screen. If this is what I have to pay for having 100% more battery life and not being forced to use Windows I take it anytime.
I also have a laptop that's equivalent to a ps5 (actually a fair bit stronger) and a pc with a 3090, I use each of them for different use cases. For a handheld I think battery life and the overall user experience is the most important, of course game compatibility as well, which is quite good on Linux.
If this was not the case why would the Switch be that popular compared to Windows handhelds.
At the end of the day it's nice having competition, it drives the market and it's up to the user to choose based on their own preferences.
Haven't touched my Steam Deck since I got the ROG Ally couple months ago, the extra power and higher res vrr display are such a huge upgrade.
I think the oled screen is WAY more noticeable than VRR
@@derekfurst6233 you have both?
Did you have the steam deck OLED or the original?
I have the original steam deck and rog ally and legion go
I’ve had a Rog Ally z1 extreme for over a year. My third one actually. First two didn’t last long and thankfully I still had warranty. I just got a OLED steam deck and now my Ally is for sale. One thing many of us forget is that the paper specs don’t tell us what it’s like to live with. The deck is an overall more polished and refined machine. In my opinion it’s much better to just grab and go like a handheld. The Ally is closer to a laptop with a controller attached. Very buggy and can be annoying when the system doesn’t cooperate. I just got tired of dealing with the issues instead of playing the game while I had the time. Good power but definitely rough around the edges. I hope their next system will fix the issues many of us have because that system has allot of potential as a handheld gaming device.
I couldn't agree more.
I think this is why I'm leaning towards steam deck. Gives the most console like experience, great battery life, and I can configure settings as needed
@MajorPickleSwag honestly, that's why I recommend it to most.
@@MajorPickleSwag the console like experience, meaning grab and go was a huge factor for me. The ally is great don’t get me wrong but I ended up spending more time getting it to work than actually playing it. Then there’s other factors like battery life, issues with windows not being fully compatible with the device, bugs and crashes etc. I have a high end gaming pc so a small cut in power wasn’t a big deal and overall I’m very, very happy I made the switch.
@@JRodSMX same. I used to have a high end gaming pc but realized I really do not like messing around with windows, drivers, or constantly updating just to play my games. So I started selling my PC for parts and went back to PS5 and realized that I also really want an easy to use portable gaming device with some configurability. After watching so many videos I am definitely going to get the Steam Deck OLED for the console like experience.
I travel quite a bit and own both ROG Ally and Legion Go (Legion go was not announced when I got the Ally). Since buying the Legion Go, I haven’t touched the Ally. I absolutely the versatility of the legion. When on a plane, being able to pull of the controllers and set up your screen on the back of the headrest is awesome and so much more comfortable than trying to hold either handheld in hand/on your lap. Highly recommend buying a controller joiner off eBay or Etsy. Legion screen is big enough that it’s still very usable at that distance too. Same goes for when docking on tv/other monitor. When I go home, i travel with a dock and works great when setting up on tv. 2nd usb c port is so invaluable. Overall i just love the flexibility of the Legion Go.
Can you download mods on it for games?
@ALFA-qb4ju I haven't personally but you can. It's a full blown pc, just not as powerful as a desktop obviously. So whatever you do on your desktop, you can do on this.
How was the battery life? This review says it’s terrible but I’ve seen other reviews saying its a lot better than the rog ally?
@neutraliz3246 at a low wattage, it can last longer than the Ally since it's larger. When I say it's not as good, I'm talking about everything running on max.
I had a z1 rog ally amazing, especially using geforce now. But the screen was a bit too small using the mouse and keyboard. Thinking about the go
Legion go has been awesome. Nothing like playing smaller games at 1600P. Doubles as a good work PC that you can take with you as well.
just a question why dont you turn down the resolution on the legion go to 1920x1200 instead of running it at full rez since it wont bring any advantage on such a small screen anyway, i mean i get 2 hours of games with my settings if i absolutely have to use it on the go (which i never do) i carry my legion go in a backpack and when i arrive at my destination i use it plugged in most of the time (alternative to a gaming laptop which i have) since its much more easy to carry with me instead of packing a full 17" backpack with all the bricks (charger etc) when i shifted to legion go i went from 4.5+ kg to less than 1.5kg all in one.
I don't know if you know this but the rog ally you can improve the colors and saturation and make it pop more
Stellar video! Im now leaning towards the deck simply because i didn't realize how much better battery life is on it vs the ally. I do mostly games from like 2018 or before so nothing too demanding and it seems to have enough oomph for me to play anything id like essentially 😊
Thank you! If that's the case, then the SD OLED is the way to go. You'll get plenty of game time. Also, you won't be able to play games that year anti-cheat software. Most of that stuff is made to run on Windows. If you're okay with that, then you're good to go.

Legion Go for me. I got one about a week after release. It's been a rough first few months, but Lenovo is finally pulling it together on the software end especially with the most recent Legion Space and controller updates. The screen is gorgeous and great for all use cases. It's big enough that bars above and below 16:9 games aren't as big of a deal as they are on the Steam Deck. It's even better when running emulators with retro games. The 16:10 screen is perfect because it gives more vertical space for games that run in 4:3. It also a better PC replacement. The screen is big enough to use with a keyboard and mouse to do everyday computing tasks without the need to connect to an external monitor.
Rog ally for me. Performance, audio and screen is the 3 main things i would look for in a gaming handheld. I woildnt want anything over 1080p due to performance hits
Hi! Which one is the best for playing World of Warcraft? Please answer.
Technically, all three can run WoW, but I'd recommend a handheld that has a track pad. Go with the Legion Go or Stream Deck. The latter requires a workaround, but it'll run.
Which device would you recommend for someone who just wants a handheld to play/emulate older games, and mod those older games too? like PS1,PS2,PS3 and maybe a few PS4 games from before 2016. I don't have any interest in newer games and Im mostly going to play docked so battery life is not much of a concern. What do you think?
ROG ally lol
I've seen a lot of people argue that you should either just get the Steam Deck for the emulation capabilities, or just buy an older Android phone with snapdragon and run a controller on it. I'm thinking of buying a Steam Deck personally, or the Legion Go for the controller that it already has that can be taken off.
The Legion Go is perfect for me. I didn't mind the size, and the huge beautiful screen is awesome. I almost picked up the Deck OLED, but i knew I'd have fomo for the lower performance and the early onset burn in issues caused me to avoid
There's no "early onset burn in." The only "burn ins" were from testers, keeping the same screen at max brightness for 1-2 months straight
Weird how those burn in videos caused these rumors about OLED having burn in issues - there are no burn in issues. Nobody has had any issues through normal use.
Makes me think people just read the click bait titles and didn’t watch the actual video.
If the legion plays mcc without any lag like my Xbox I'll get it tomorrow! Anyone know how they compare?
27:38 difficult area to run on "ANY" piece of hardware? My 2022 Predator Helios laptop was getting 70-80 fps on Act 3
Nice.
Where's your review on the GPD? Especially on the GPD Win Mini?
I would actually have to buy one. None of these companies send me review units.
I now own The Ally and the steam deck but I find myself playing the ally more now because I can pretty much play any game. But Im going to get a legion go when best buy near me gets more. I originally wanted the legion go but the ally definitely didn’t disappoint. Also its kind of dumb the Rog ally doesn’t come with a case lol
Right? I feel the same way about the MSI Claw. Why the heck does it not come with a case?
yeah that's the thing that made me turn off from rog ally
I got the Ally on sale for $700CaD (msrp is 900) and got myself the jsaux modcase & screen protector alongside a 2TB ssd (1TB isn't enough for me)
Imo third party accessories are better than first party accessories most of the time.
Which one do you think is best for watchinf movies playing Steam games, Epic Games and Xbox GP?
My PC broke so i wanna get something till i build a new one
For all that, I'd recommend the Legion Go. Possibly the ROG Ally. But the Legion Go is really good.
@@baldlyrudy Thanks for the quick response! I was considering the Ally for a while, but I'm just so hesitant to pull the trigger. I'm planning on hooking it up to my TV btw
You don't need a keyboard for the initial setup of the Legion Go. Bought mine in March and had no issue setting it up. The on-screen keyboard came up and all went smooth.
Must've been post launch. I had a day one unit and that was not the case.
This is all well and good but how does one get games into these devices and whereof you purchase them from?
You download them from the Internet. Usually using a launcher of some kind. Steam is the most popular, but there are others (Epic, Xbox/Microsoft Store, GOG Galaxy, etc.)
You purchase the game using the launcher, and then you can play it there.
Thanks finally someone answered my question relating to this!
@@baldlyrudy yeah it what I was wondering too. Also not answered, once you download say in a wifi zone, then when you get on a plane that has no wifi ( or charges too much for it) is your game resident on the device? Can you choose where to store it meaning internal vs SD card?
I just wanna know… which one can I download mods to for cyberpunk 2077 and others 😅😅
With the legion go there are 2 bad drivers causing large battery drain about 5 watts I do have a fix for it on the legion go community forums I plan on sharing it on reddit.
Why don't you share it here haha
Had the 512 steam deck and the z1 extreme Rog Ally. I gave the steam deck to my son because I couldn’t play cod, and other titles that I wanted to play. But both are great!
It's weird you get like 3 hours battery life on LCD Steam deck on "lighter 2d games" like in undertale I could almost hit 8, currently I'm on 4 on Arkham city, do you use the TDP limit and 40hz ?
(22:15)
Edit : 31:30 wait, you do! That's weird
8 is only possible in very simple and well optimized games like undertale AND you need to turn off the Wi-Fi. With Wi-Fi on the longest I've ever got is 5.5 hours
Depends on the game. The longest I ever got was around 4.5 hours in my LCD. But I was playing really simple things like The Messenger or Celeste, TDP was like 5-7. It was forever ago.
Most of the time I don't even think about it unless I'm travelling and need to squeeze as much juice as possible.
@@baldlyrudyyeah still 22:23 saying 1-1.5 hours really underselling it, I'd say 1-5 hours, I got 3-4 hours playing Blazblue entropy effect, and downclocking steamdeck get me at least 3hrs out of Armored core 6 stable 40fps.
@chariothe9013 yup. Seems realistic for 2D. ACVI I played almost exclusively on the SD LCD. I was targeting 60fps and was getting around 1.5-2 hours on average, IIRC. But like I said, it all depends on the games you play.
I have both steam deck and recently just got the Legion Go, legion Go hands down is the best.
Legion Go is also an excellent tablet which can also be used in portrait mode. None of the others can do that.
Got all 3 and the legion is easily the best to play games on.
Larger screen feels uncompromising.
The kickstand is fantastic.
The software has come in leaps and bounds.
The only negative imo is the speakers but personally I don’t play on any of them while using sound via speakers.
If you are someone who actually wants a smaller screen then the ally is the way to go
Hi there I have ally and the go and right now afmf is only working with ally. I’m hitting 180 frames 1080p low on mw3 with the ally with afmf
I haven’t had speaker issues. I think if you do a comparison review you can complain about em but just as an every day person picking it up and playing, speakers have been good for me.
i mean the speaker can be fixed with an equalizer
I’ve had my Steam oled for 3 months now and I love it especially since I work offshore on oil and gas platforms so I need something portable. I play on the steam deck so much I haven’t touched my Nintendo Switch oled since
Sold my steam deck and bought a asus rog ally z1 extreme from a guy for a cheap price and i am blown away by the performance it can handle most modern AAA games and the speakers and vrr make it a better experience.. battery backup is not an issue for me as i play it mostly plugged
i bought ally z1 extreme too, and when i go to my friends house he cant even hear the audio from his switch lite! The speakers are so freaking loud!
What’s a cheap price?
@@kesun32145 costing very little
@kesun32145 $399 is what the low end Ally is going. And Steam Deck LCD models are going for around $350.
Newest updates for my tests show legion go having best performance and battery life. Not by much maybe half an hour in battery and about 10fps on certain games like cyberpunk or other heavy hitters the older games it’s about the same.
getting all 3, had the steam deck for nearly two years
Love when you rubbed your head when you started talking about the Legion Go!
The ally and go both have hardware and software problems so i would go for the steam deck i do wish it was more powerful and had thunder bolt 4 for egpus though
got my rog ally for 550 openbox works awesome and rubs epic. I also like the rog ally can take a 2280m.2
I love my Legion Go. Steam Deck is still my go to.
All i want to know is which one can i play more steam and more window games and, most importantly, which one can play on my T V with ease
All 3.
Steam deck and Rog Ally kind of need a dock and to get the 4k 120hz from the ally you have to spend like $100 though on a good dock only 2 exist with multi ports and support pass-through charging 100-240watts.
The go does have 2 USB c ports meaning you can just have a USB c to HDMI cable and charge and stream at the same time and with the removable controllers your good to go.
For me it's to big gaming isn't as seamless as people say. The Rog ally z1 is great
Had them all and the Legion Go is best hands down! No comparison at all.
I went with Steam Deck and recently upgraded to the OLED model. I feel that I have everything I need and it has decent performance and battery life for my use.
I only play single player games, so the headache of not being able to run those competitive online shooters and the like easily is not a factor for me. I’m pretty sure I’ve clocked less than 40 hours of competitive online gaming through my entire life lol….and I’ve been gaming since the NES.
Competitive shooter games on pc using console controlls.. Lol no. No matter if it could run games like that because it would be terrible.. Mouse and keyboard is unbeatable for shooters.
@@hornantuutti5157 on Modern Warfare 3 specifically a majority of players in the lobby use controller due to cross play. With aim assist, it’s said that controllers have the advantage in that game. Regardless being able to play is better than not being able to play at all
I think I’ll get a SD oled too.
I have a desktop PC that can handle any game I throw at it.
I would mostly play all the unplayed single player games that I have on Steam and Epic games + emulation with Batocera in a microSD
My personal favorites are the ROG Ally and the Steam Deck. Both devices suit my tastes perfectly
I'm right there with you.
@@baldlyrudy I had tried the Legion Go for a week but it was too large for me. Felt so big in my hands and it's software is less polished than on the Ally. Great device but not for me
I bought the ROG ally and ended up returning it and getting a Steam Deck OLED. I am very happy with it, specially with the steamOS experience.
Got an ally z1 extreme in new condition (in box an everything) for 549 so yeah…. Sadly my steam deck died because I changed the undervolt settings and ram timings in the bios.
Can you play ps4 xbox games like GTA or also pc games
I am also poor too. I wish I had lenovo legion go. Me dreaming having it😊
I initially wanted the steam deck oled because of the form factor, I just love how it looks especially the black color but the downside was I can’t get Xbox game pass 😢, so I got the Rog Ally, swapped the 512 ssd with 2tb Samsung 980 pro with heat sink and been loving it since😊
I have heard ROG has had heat issues melting memory cards?
@@davidgrice9270 yeah but I don’t have that issue cos I don’t plan on using SD cards since I swooped out my 512 with 2TB 🙂
@@TheSoledee I do apologize, I mosread your comment, do you think that this SSD will work in steamdeck oled
Any idea on how these handhelds run Halo Infinite multiplayer?
The Go runs it pretty well. I would assume the Ally does as well. Only issue is that you will need to be plugged in and running at a 30w TDP to get it to run at an acceptable performance level.
Legio go even it was not oled, that looks better
You should check Legion Go battery after Bios update. TDP bug is fixed now !
I'm planning on doing a deeper dive with all this.
Hi, can you make a video of the steam desk and the legion go being turned on and actually being able to go onto the internet and stuff if that all makes sense
Do you mean like using them as actual PC's instead of gaming handhelds?
Yes if it’s possible if you can do both
@@baldlyrudy just want to know because I already have a pc but looking for a hand held for something different, so I can take it on the go but I have no idea which one to pick. I do like the steam deck and that was my first choice but then I seen the legion go and now I’m conflicted lol
I came into this wondering whether I should get a steam deck or a rog ally, and I ended up getting sold on the legion go
The lower battery life will kind of suck though
TBH, you can play at a lower wattage and you should be fine.
Hi how about Van noise?!!
Everyone is complaining about vans speed and noise
In legion Go I get around 4 hours in Hollow Knight with 60hz /quite mode(80fps1920.1200p) 50 brightness.
Should I get the regular SD OLED or etched glass OLED model if I mainly play indoors with anywhere from lights off dark room, to dim room no overhead lights on, to moderately lit up room? I'm leaning towards the regular since I could also save $100, but part of me still wonders about the 1tb etched glass version
Sounds like you don't need the etched glass to me, I would save the money and spend it on some upgrades or accessories
Of you want to use a screen protector, than the etched version has also no benefit, because the protector now reflects light. Also you can later buy a screen protector that is etched itself.
Also colors are better on non-etched versions. It just pops more. Seen this myself with friends.
Glossy glass all the way. I don’t care what anyone says, OLED will always look better unobscured by any amount of matte coating. You can always upgrade the SSD in the future if you want. I swapped mine to 1TB on my glossy version and I have zero regrets
Author expresses doubts about the durability of the joycons on the Legion Go. But the biggest and most common problem is stick drifting, which is not the case with this device, because it is the only one that uses Hall sensors.
I'm pretty hesitant between buying Steam Deck and Legion Go, but this fact favors Lenovo for now...
I have the rog ally and it is amazing to bring on trips. I HIGHLY recommend it
It's either that or the Steam Deck when I travel. The Ally obviously has a smaller footprint, so it's great for travel.
Fellow Limited Edition owner. Love to see it.
I got me the SD OLED in january and my only complaints are i cant play modded xenoverse 2 (to my knoweldge) and it did kinda break after a month...
Valve did repair it at no extra cost to me and i think they just messed up when manufacturing it but still kinda funny
Oooof. Yeah. That sounds like bad luck more than anything else.
Bought the ROG Ally on day one and love it!
Legion Go. all the way. I've played for 7 hours and I just switch from my lap to in the air. i like the fact to ve able to read what's on the screen. I've been playing Hogwarts and in my particular case, the bigger screen helps me going through the game. I'm happy with my choice and at the end of the day, I think that is what everybody needs. something that works and that you are happy with it.
Agreed. Everyone is looking for different things with these handhelds.
How much does a top PC with newest graphics card cost? Idk if I should build a PC or buy the King of next gen handheld PCs coming soon? Opinions please 🙏🏼
Thousands of dollars.
3k minimum. You can get one for around 1000 that would blow the pants off any of these handheld PCs though. It's obvious, but if you do most your gaming at home then go for PC. These handhelds look way worse when blown up on a large tv considering most AAA games will be run on 720p.
Top of the line, almost 7-8k. I am a pc gamer and been building my PCs for about 12 years now.
You don't need the newest PC parts for a comparable experience. Get some second hand parts and you're good to play any game at decent settings for 600-750.
@@calculator91 what about if i get a pc but play remote on a galaxt tab ultra?
Valve support, Linux, remappable trackpads, and battery life are why the Deck is still king. Once the other handhelds catch up with the last two then it'll be a different conversation
Love the video but I will say the asus has terrible battery life in comparison to legion go thats why i took my rog back
I have had LCD Deck and for the last 3 months the OLED. Yesterday i bought a ROG Ally, after 5 hours setting up, installing all updates, installed some Gamepass games, did a firmware update and it broke windows. Microsoft would no longer licence my games. Had to reset the OS. Try two spent all day installing stuff. Tried to play Forza again, driver issue with display, tried fallout NV, crashed, tried asphalt 9, game pad does not work. Managed to get Streets of Rage 4 running and after 15 mins thr battery had dropped over 10%.
Overall one of the worst experiences with tech i have ever had. Steam Dexk LCD was pretty OK at launch. Thr OLED is another level, and Steam OS just works and is super intuitive. ROG Ally is let down by Windows. Avoid avoid avoid.
What about the msi claw???
Trash!!!
It just bad
Should I get a refurbished rog ally z1 extreme from Best Buy for $450?
Heck yeah! That's a heck of a deal.
@@baldlyrudy Sayless tysm
@@baldlyrudy ended up snagging it for $400 off fb marketplace with a dock and carrying briefcase! I’m so excited
Even the z1 is great now with AMD fluid frames
I am interested in high-end emulator gaming.... ps3 and xbox 360. Are any of these good for that purpose?
The Steam Deck kinda struggles with these, especially for more intensive 3D games. The Legion and Ally fare better. You should check out the channel “Retro Game Corps,” it’s all about emulation and is extremely high quality.
I'd recommend the ROG Ally or Legion Go, if those are your main focus are PS3 and Xbox 360.
@@baldlyrudy The Steam Deck is better for emulation.
@@YeeLeeHaw for PS3 and Xbox 360?
Is it worth buying the cheaper model instead the OLED version?
If you're okay with less battery life, then sure. Performance is more or less the same on both.
I just bought the Ally without looking at any reviews which is out of character for me; now I feel like I need to return it and get the Steam Oled😢
Which one do you use the most?
Right now, the Steam Deck OLED. I'm playing Final Fantasy VII, and it isn't too taxing on the system.
I've always loved handhelds for emulation, happy to see it go mainstream. I remember begging my mom in middle school for an android handheld from a chinese company called JXD, and how mindblowing it was to play ocarina of time on the go. Now I can run skyward sword on my phone lol
Freaking amazing! My mind is blown that we can play games that were meant for stationary consoles on the go with today's tech. It's absolutely mind-blowing.
Awesome video. I decided to go with the Asus rog ally. Its easier to play Xbox game pass, epic game store. Awesome emulator and the VRR screen is just nice
Thanks! And I agree. The VRR is so dang good. Love the black frame insertion with emulation. It's definitely good times.
And the AOG Ally looks amazing but the higher model is around $700???
Yes, but at this point it's constantly on sale.
I was thinking of buying Legion Go for the big screen and it's unique features... But i also heard that it has even louder vents than Steam Deck and i already hate them. Is there anything else i should be worried about? (Already saying, i can deal with the weight and speakers)
Yeah it’s mad heavy compared to the ally . Right now afmf driver does not work on legion go and for me that is very important.
Use a headset man.
You won’t hear any fans.
I've got one. The fan, while noticeable, is really not all that bad. If you use a headset you won't even hear it
Don’t have any particular issue with the fans myself, only issue I’ve seen people have is a whistling sound on some models, but that’s very easy to fix
I have all 3 devices, and I prefer the Legion Go. This guys reviews seem awfully biased. The Ally is by far the worst on battery.
I just got the asus rog ally z1 at Best Buy for $320. I think that is as far as my money will go for a gaming device. I was thinking about exchanging it for the Z1 Extreme, but I am not really a complex gamer. I was using it last night to play Angry Bird and a racing game. 😂 I think upgrading it would be a waste of money for me. 😂
That's fine.
We want Onexplayer 2 pro vs lenovo legion go 😅
The regular Z1 can be bought open-box for around $350. Now with AMD Fluid Frames, it puts out more FPS than the Steam Deck OLED so for the money, it's the better choice.
I'm only stuck between Steam Deck OLED 1TB and Legion Go. I like the idea of the controllers that pop out and there's controller holders that I've seen, but I still feel like the Steam deck might be the best option of the 3.
The Steam Deck is the only true handheld of the two. The Legion Go is a glorified laptop.
