- I answer your questions about the Sony Xperia 1 III in this video. Questions like, "is the screen bright enough outdoors?", "are the speakers actually better than on the ! II?" and "can you reduce the resolution?" - a lots more questions! Thanks for giving me this challenge. I've enjoyed using the 1 III as my daily driver and I've enjoyed answering some of your questions. I will answer more in the next videos. crazy how a phone that basically lacks 0 features is considered an enthusiast by some reviewers. Apple and Samsung removed features from their phones and continued to increase the price. now that we have a manufacturer that is actually giving people features that should be found on a device so expensive, it's labeled and categorized as "not for everyone". shame to see marques take this approach to it as well instead of speaking out against the manufactures that continue to charge consumers more for less. this is what you should be getting from any flagship over $1000.
the only thing this phone is missing to make it more mainstream is a better computational auto mode and a better selfie camera. other than that, it's pretty normal in terms of flagship phones nowadays, it just does everything that the competition can do better. s21 ultra is $1250 and does not have a headphone jack, expandable storage, speakers as good as this phone or even phones like the rog 5 and mi 11 ultra. the 1 iii outperforms all of these phones too in real-life benchmark tests and in synthetic benchmarks all for an addition $50. not to mention the base model s21 only has 156gb compared to the base 256gb that the 1 iii comes with. sony has also spoke on giving 3 years of OS updates. the phone is not for enthusiasts, it's everything a flagship smartphone should me. had oneplus, Samsung, or Xiaomi released this phone, no one would call it an enthusiast phone, but rather the most complete phone

He is a fucking fan of Apple despite knowing the fact that iphone does not have these awesome features but still says “the best phone in the entire solar system” lol its obvious they pay him. Because 12 pro max does not have 120hz, cameras are average compared to Mark 3 plus not 4k, headphone jack, poor battery life and much more…..
Do you know what the shock is that this phone outperformed the iPhone 12 Pro Max at the speed of opening gaming applications, browsing and some downloading clips, and everyone knows that the Snapdragon processor cannot outperform the Bionic from Apple
The problem with most reviewers out there is the biasness on Sony devices. When you look at a Vaio line history same thing it was a price bashed product but it was okay to spend the same money on a MacBook with lower specs. Sony phones same thing "OH the battery is too small or the price is too high" They all have the same narrative.
I always say Sony deserves respect. Everyone talks about the price, and it comes with a 30-watt charger in the box and 3.5 Headphone port, external memory, without a hole in the screen, and front stereo speakers. What should Sony to do more than what it does now!? To sell and make profits ? and in some markets it has a wireless headset that costs more than $ 200. I will definitely buy this phone Buying a phone from Sony that costs 1300 dollars is better than buying a Chinese phone that costs 1100 dollars and there is a hole in the screen and it does not have the quality of Sony as a system and hardware
Yeah, everyone said 1300$ is too expensive for a phone with include charger and pre-order gift compare to ss21 1200$ and iphone 12 1100$ with almost nothing in the box
sony gave you battery saving feature with charging limiter, if it can survive 3-5 years down the road, that's a lot cheaper than recycling apple and samsung every year
also I think it's bundled with wf-1000xm3?

The phone is awesome, but after watching MkBD call it the "enthusiasts" phone, I realised how much hate Sony has got. In reality, Sony is well above the hypes out there. Keep it up mate.

He and sadly many other reviewers as well have always been that way when it comes to underdog brands like LG and Sony, only to say "what a shame, RIP" when the brand is gone just to get views, pretending that it's ALL the manufacturers' fault for the bad press they get. True unbiased reviewers like Tom, Juan Bagnell etc deserves more attention!

I have xz premium and 1II, no rotate problem. Just turn it slowly and it will rotate smoothly.

the 1iii gets as bright as the OP9 pro when in direct sunlight if you have adaptive brightness on. the max brightness that you can set stops at around 840 nits whereas if you put on adaptive brightness and are standing in sunlight, the screen will light up to over 1300 nits. so if anyone is worried about brightness in sunlight, you can look at reviews of people talking about the OP9 pro brightness which literally no one has any complaints about in the reviews i have watched and read and see how they feel about the brightness
Hi Etonique, i think this is innacurate, do you have one? Because, i see max brightness of 1300 nits only in hdr mode (which means watching movies not reading à screen in sunlight)

Question is how bright it can get in hdr? answer, probably about 600 nits which is not enough. Hdtvtest reviewed 1ii i think and it was dim phone, OnePlus would be over 1000 nits in hdr which will be way better experience for watching hdr movies

There's too much hate over the price as if people don't buy iPhones the moment someone says it's on sale. People complained about the processor and RAM (888 and 12GB) yet Samsung is planning for the fold3 to have similar specs. It sucks how much bias there is in the phone industry. But with Sony going full-throttle, it'll definitely show who's boss.
Yeah they don't hate on iPhone and Samsung prices when they can't even provide a charger in the box.

@@Sabundy yeap, for me, the cut out and notch Fullscreen is just ugly, and mono speaker, no headphone Jack, no external storage, no notification light, and camera is just much less fun the Sony Alpha tweaked camera, plus, a shutter button. Also, if apple or samsung goes for 4k screen, I think nobody will say we don't need a 4k screen.

Of course you are welcome to tell me how adding fugly notches and punch holes improves a screen.

Been loving this channel content and can’t wait for more videos on the 1iii. I currently own a s10 plus exynos as I live in the UK and this phone might be the one I chose to upgrade to next.
The one thing I would love a video on is one about gaming. I think that would show how the phone handles thermals and the gaming features that Sony offers with it.

You can turn auto rotate and make it manual
It's definitely 2 sec. It's the same rythm i got taught in the military to get in attention and out of it. The order came attention, we counted silently 1 and 2. It's exactly 2 sec

watched the mkbhd video, seems like he is trying so hard to say least thing about this phone and hate it while not making it obvious. when samsung note 9 came out, it was perfect phone at the time and his reaction was hyped. he is bias on this phone.

@@Lionspel He absolutely panned the Red Hydrogen One and he had EVERY reason to hype it. He lost a lot of friends in the Red community for speaking his truth about the phone. But he was right. I was a fan boy and bought two for some reason. But the tech was flawed and the phone had a lot of problems which Marques pointed out. So I suspect he is right about the camera on this one. Which is a crushing shame. I already pre ordered the 1 III and now I am going to cancel it as it looks like from a camera PoV its not as good as my Galaxy S20 ultra, which takes decent video and occasionally good photos in auto-mode. I think ill save the money for an Alpha 1.
I know, you really could see that, he wanted to hate it, but couldn't. But he gave the camera a meh comment. But never seen him that positive take on a Sony phone from him every. It was kinda like Xperia 1 II he couldn't really hate that one either so he bashed Sony as a company instead.
Michael Fisher I'm kinda disappointed in though. He says he likes Sony phones but always end so bagging them such he did again. At first it sounded like he was going positive but then he started taking about small things in software and how even photographers sometimes wanna be able to just point and shoot. Lol it was a bad review to be honest

I'm really happy that Sony is back with a fully featured phone its got everything we need...question for your next video- 12 Pro Max, S21 Ultra and Z Fold2 how is the camera comparing with them, also with our alpha cameras....I would love to buy this phone...selling out my these 3 phones.😉
I think the only problem is sony has a average selfi camera at best but their back cameras are better then apples but xiaomi mi 11 ultra is the camera king of all smartphones since that view finder allows u to use any of the 3 high end camera as a selfi camera then the primary front one

I love the improvements they did. Totally i am addicted to X1III. But, they need to improve in the selfie camera segment. I prefer a main selfie camera with a wide angle camera like in XA2 ultra. There is lot of space inside the bessel. Use it properly sony😄. Think of a 24mp+24mp selfie. I also suggests a better cooling system like in the XPERIA -PRO. Then this will be the most Perfect one..
Front and back victus? As i remember only front is victus. And the back goriila 6 :)

Great you finally have it!!! I've come across several Sony haters on my channel and on other Sony videos. Sony is the definition of quality and innovation. Haters exist when you're doing something right and it all boils down to jealousy. Personally, I don't like Samsung, but I don't troll Samsung videos.
It's a pity that this sort of thing happens online. I don't get it. But I'm happy that good people like yourself press on, regardless! I felt that Sony had something special and dramatically underappreciated with the 1 II when I'd had it for a week or so. I feel that even more strongly with the 1 III.... Good times!

I never understood why most TH-cam reviewers spend most of their time criticizing the camera of the Mark 3, because from what I understand the Mark 3 isn't even a smartphone that has specialized camera system for content creators... it's clearly NOT the Xperia Pro. For me personally, the camera system doesn't really interest me that much, I'm actually more interested on the phone's internals and the screen panel of the Mark 3.
No, Camera is the same on Xperia 1 mark Ii and 1 Xperia Pro.
If you dont care about camera good for you
The camera is great. The only downside is lower light social situations but tbh just use the flash for that. Otherwise you get a more realistic colour set and the image looks much more natural. I'd say it's definitely for content creators.

My Xperia 1 iii is arriving tomorrow, I've upgraded from the Xperia 1, the reason is that I love the 21:9 aspect ratio and 4k especially now at 120hz, remote play works well with my ps5 and I can stream pc games in ultrawide, wireless and reverse charging is a bonus too, basically the phone I already own but on steroids

Got a question though : Does the phone vibrate when playing music at loud volumes like my Xperia 5, for example?
I'm asking because I was amazed by how my brother's iPhone 11 was able to handle the vibrations, and therefore reproduce bass through it's speakers.
Thanks so much for your comment - and regarding your question, I just played one of my favourite songs by Quantic and full volume. The vibrations are almost non-existent. There's just the tiniest sensation of vibration, which is impressive compared with my 1 II as well! Great question, hope that answer helps. Bloody loving the new Android 12 update on the MK2. From when you put the charger in, it now has animation on the screen, to a little green dot showing you if an app is using your microphone or camera, so if you feel it shouldn't be, you can change the permissions. Plenty of other features also. Great work Sony 🙏🤗

Do not change like the other big tech youtube channels have after they grew in numbers and start hating on Sony phones because they dont fill the pockets like maybe apple and samsung do as per the rumors. I have a Z5 Premium, almost 7 years old as well. Not a single technical problem. Thin and pleasing to hold, still capable to do all the daily tasks, and... 4K display !! The competition only now are talking about 4K, 7 years later. 😂

Great video & explanations of the 1M3👍 I have yet to find a (not online) store in London that sells Xperia phones. Sound on the video is good, what microphone do you usually use for recording your voice on the TH-cam videos?
John Lewis should be able to sort you out soon and I recommend buying from them where possible. I can't remember which mic we used back in the Panama studio, but this one is just a Rode thingy. Cheap and cheerful. Really wanted the Sony hot shoe one, but they're so hard to get hold of! Thanks so much for your comment. I still have Xperia XZ premium. Already 4 years old, battery still good. I will upgrade to 1III later when is available in Malaysia. Now my daily driver is Xperia 1II.

I'm still rocking the expira xz and it's been a gem of a phone. I'm not one to just upgrade because a new phone is released however I'm hugely considering it for the mark 3. Even more so now with your review so thank you. The problem is I feel bad because this one hasn't faulted...
Honestly it ticks all the boxes so far and as someone who use the 1ii it would be a welcomed upgrade
I wouldn't call it an upgrade it's got a better battery and 120hz that's about it. Not worth paying another £1199 for basically the same phone.
@@paulgal it's not only screen and battery upgrade sounds also is upgraded as well as the processor, ram and camera sensor is upgraded from Samsung sensor for the ultra wide and telephoto to Sony sensors also software upgrades all in all its a big improvement from the 1ii
It is more expensive because they spent quite a heft on the R&D for the variable periscope camera system.
Also, 4K 120Hz is probably at least more than 10% more expensive than the 4K 60Hz on the 1 II that's also dimmer in comparison.
The new box design of the speakers also costed some money for Sony to develop, so it certainly is going to be more expensive overall, but at least you get a free $300 WF-1000XM3 wireless earbuds that is one of the best in the market today, and is only bested by its successor WF-1000XM4.
The video thumbnail is something I couldn't do. It's very frustrating, seeing how Sony is going above and beyond to give us the good stuff without eliminating anything else, and then some "tech tubers" are just out there to support the lack of jack and lack of micro SD like that's an evolution, saying it's an enthusiast phone and nothing else.
I'm pretty disappointed in those guys

I got into an arguement with a OnePlus fanboy in MKBHD's video. Apparently when OnePlus and Samsung removed the SD Card Slot and Headphone Jack, we don't need those features anymore. But when Apple removed it, those fanboys egged on Apple for removing it.
Hypocrisy at its finest.
MKBHD made too much of noise about screen rotation. Am sure he knowns its just a software update fix and am surprised he mentioned again in his pod cast. I hope he watches your video. Thx for talking about it.
To be honest it is kinda slow, wich makes a problem with slower phones like Xperia 10 II. Sometimes it fools you two tilt it back, but then it turns the wrong way. This wasn't the case with Android 10, it became for me a issue with 11. So i give him that, because it is annoying.

As a Xperia 1 II owner, yes this xperia has the best display I ever had it just so beautiful.. I compared with Amoled from Xiaomi phones and still Xperia 1 II is far superior but i wish i can compare it with iphone and samsung too.. and do not add option to drop the resolution from 4k into 2k display for what? We already has the best display in the world

I pre-ordered the 1 mark 3... I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake... I'm seeing videos showing the camera isn't that good compared to galaxy and I phones........ but I'm not that into cameras
I would be very surprised indeed if you ever regretted your decision. The camera tech representa a different approach that is often misunderstood. And everything apart from the camera tech is just superb anyway. A fantastic phone to live with, for me so far. I'm seriously impressed. Cheers, Tom 🙏
This is my worry as well. I'm no expert photographer so I will rely on the auto/basic mode. I'm used to gettign great point and shoot pics from my Pixel phones and I've seen not so good reviews about the basic mode on the 1 lll
When i buy Xperia Mark 2 At first, I felt that the camera was normal and did not offer creativity, but when I gave the phone enough time to delve into the camera settings, I saw that it was interesting and presents very beautiful pictures. You just need to delve into the details
@@s89kw I think basic mode may be a little week, but there is another auto mode in the pro part of the app that allows for quick point and shoot pics with better results.

Just ordered my Xperia 1 III on upgrade. Upgrading from Xperia 1 Mark 1, First Flagship model of the Xperia 1 series.
Great phone but, my finger print started acting up about 2 months ago. Anyways, I was due an upgrade so decided on another Sony in a 15 year or more running streak. From Sony Ericsson to Sony today, never wavered. I've had my share of some poorly designed models but overall Sony knows best.
I love the HS mode on the Mark 3, I'm a hardcore Gamer on CODM and occasionally MCOC. This will be a great upgrade. Unfortunately my current Mark 1 struggles with screen freezes lately when I'm screen recording my gameplay. Hope this model is fluid.

Sony Xperia is Call of Duty Mobile's recommended and sponsored model. I play my Mark 1 in Very High mode. It's superb.
If they make that assistant programmable then I'll consider getting the 1 IIII sooner rather than later.
I also wish the one handed mode was even easier (less steps) to activate.
Do you use gesture controls? I do, so it's a two-step process. But if I remember correctly it's a one step process (double tap home button) if using the traditional nav set up...

@@tech_edit I use full screen navigation along side FNG. So if I swipe up I can bring up Meteor Swipe for rows of apps. Then if the one handed mode was available as a shortcut (like Multi-Window Switch, Side Sense (which I use), and Multi Window) then I could have one handed mode in 1 steps instead of 3. Right now how I have it it's 2 steps.

Yes it will be enabled. The last Xperia that had the side mounted fingerprint sensor disabled in NA was the XZ1.

My question for SONY really is: if youre selling a balls to the wall, top of the range, highest price bracket phone, why isnt the selfie cam on par with the others? Why do we have to compromise at £1000?! Thats just not ok. There should be no compromise at this price point.

I disagree when someone say that s21 ultra is way cheaper but it's just cheaper by 50$ because the xperia 1 iii comes with 250 GB at least while s21 ultra it comes with 125 GB and the s21 ultra 250 GB version it cost 1250$ so its not really cheap
In Sweden s21 ultra 256gb with enoxy is 1600$ and Sony 1515$
