    Sony is really going after the real pro market with these phones and their photo and video capabilities. I know they're going to be expensive, but for a true pro, it's probably a worthy investment.

      @George Azzopardi it's a 1.0 type so like others it's not using the full size of the sensor. Most are complaining that it reduces it to 12 megapixels instead of the full 24 megapixels however increasing the pixels doesn't always mean better quality. With the 1.0 inch type sensor these pixels are retaining more data/light providing a better image than most especially for those who do post editing with their content.

      @George Azzopardi I do believe so based on the information provided by other hands on reviews. Even though the iPhone 13 pro max can shoot in RAW, I think due to hardware in Sony it is capturing more detail especially with 4k video with 120fps. This definitely gives Sony an edge for us who edit their content vs standard users who just want a vibrant quick shot and not edit.
      iPhone still appears to have cooler colors, you will see more blues in their shots vs Sony showing more true colors and iPhone focuses more on software for camera performance where as Sony focuses on more of a manual performance. Granted these are all my impressions and understanding by watching others. I plan on buying the xperia pro-i for myself and look forward to seeing how it performs in person and comparing it to the iPhone and Samsung lineup

      @TKBay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very nice

    • @ChristopherWoods
      @ChristopherWoods 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ridges are also a key part of the Cyrill (Spigen) case for the 1iii, which I thought was hilarious as I use that case. I was envious at first, having only just picked up the 1iii, but I'm already delighted with the quality of photos and videos from the Mk3's sensor. The screens are identical as are most of the non-camera features. It's nice that Sony is giving nods to sensible designs of yesteryear while bringing new innovations. On both phones the biggest downsides are screen peak brightness (not a dealbreaker, because it's so accurate in Creator mode!), the comparatively short battery life relative to other market leader flagships, and the 888 SOC getting so hot with nothing but some graphite strips to try and dissipate heat. And in the Pro photo and video apps, it gets WARM.
      But again, none of those things are deal-breakers! The tech, design and experience is so sublime and high end, and it's a pure delight to use a phone where the OS isn't nerfed or filled with advertisements and proprietary vendor app stores (looking at you, Samsung). It feels like a grown up phone for grown up users. I stumped up my £1200 and got the WH-XM1000 Mk3 headphones with it (in the UK) which while not worth £300 are absolutely my new favourite headphones for daily use, when I'm not at home using my HD650s. The package all together feels more quality than the equivalent I got from Samsung last time.
      The repairability of this phone also looks acceptable, for the inevitable future time I smash the screen or need a new battery, which is reassuring.

    The added lens in the 1 III is much more desirable to me than the 1 inch sensor in the Pro. This is still a phone where the software I think will always be more important where the sensor in concerned. Optical imaging on the other hand will never be replaced by digital manipulation. Add to that it cost $500 more and it's not even a question as to which I prefer. Now, if they had kept the same lens arrangement in the Pro, well, I'd be truly torn and probably out $1800. Fortunate for me I guess. Haha

    One inch sensor, SD card, Mic Jack, Variable apature & 70-105mm lens will win it for SONY surely. I also wish Sony would implement one button recording which is super important in emergency situations, photo journalist etc...

    Nice comparison! I am glad I got the Xperia 1 III as the 105mm lens is what I use the most after the 24mm. And looking at your shots, it seems the quality from the 24mm is roughly the same on both. 120fps native is not something I'd want either. It's great being able to shoot 120fps and immediately see it play back in slow motion.

    Thanks for the great video, here's my opinion on the Pro-I: I just got my unit in the mail today - but unfortunately I'll probably send it back disappointed.
    I already own the Xperia XZ2 compact and the RX100-II, so I can compare them well. My expectation would have been that the Xperia Pro-I would produce similarly good pictures as the RX100 because of the similar sensor (apart from the lower resolution, of course). Compared to the XZ2 compact, I expected much better pictures from the Pro-I.
    My most common shooting situations here are lowlight and artificial light.
    Compared to the RX100-II, the Pro-I doesn't do worlds better in low light and normal ISO, but it does do noticeably worse. The difference is even more noticeable at ISO 12800, where the Pro-I's image is totally noisy.
    I can't really explain this, because the sensor of the Pro-I is supposedly from the RX100-VII, so even 5 generations newer than the one in the RX100-II.
    Ok, it's still a smartphone, and that such a camera can't keep up with a compact camera is something you have to accept.
    But I was really disappointed by the comparison with my XZ2 compact. Okay, the Pro-I takes the more natural photos, and in good light I like the pictures from the Pro-I a bit more than from the XZ2 compact - the latter unfortunately sharpens too much. In artificial light or low light, on the other hand, things look different: At comparable exposure settings, the Pro-I lacks details and the colors look washed out.
    Once again: the Pro-I takes good photos. But not good enough in comparison for being so big and expensive.
    I will follow your recommendation and try the Xperia 1/5 III.

    • @RennieAsh
      @RennieAsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Pro-I has smaller apertures of 2.0 and 4.0.
      The 1mkiii has a 1.7 aperture I think?
      Combined with the non-use of the Pro-I full sensor area, they've kind of undone a lot of the advantages you'd normally get from the larger sensor.
      I don't know why they didn't put a larger camera bump on the Pro-I to fit larger lenses

    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But there's also no need to belabour that point. There are various technical reasons that have already been laid out by much smarter people than me as to why that's the case. They literally took a camera sensor (the RX100 mark 7) and adapted it to a smartphone. That means certain technical alterations had to be made. Not using the entire surface of the sensor being one of them. Also, it does not change the cameras overall performance in terms of what it is delivering on a smartphone. So harping on about that as some hack TH-camrs like to do is pointless. And it's to his credit that he doesn't engage in that nonsense. Part of why I watch his channel.

    Really like the review differences between the devices . Iam still in confusion which one to buy. Definitely camera needs to be at the top level so Xperia pro I. But does sacrificing wireless charging feature make any impact in 2022 daily usage. Is wireless charging that of any useful? Like is it good to charge a wireless smartwatch or wireless smartband ? Is charging performance good in wireless charging? If it's not that of important I can buy Xperia pro I straight on.
