Do you agree with my 4 reasons? And what are YOUR reasons for choosing Xperia phones?

    • @SonyEnthusiast
      @SonyEnthusiast 3 ปีที่แล้ว +54

I agree. I chose Sony phones due to no ugly notch or punch hole, bypass charging, SD card slot, headphone jack, 4K OLED, tool less sim tray, Japanese quality and simple yet elegant design, and flat front, back, and sides 💪

I agree, but Sony do need to :
      1) Improve on their battery care. 35W fast charging up to 85% of battery shouldn't be too bad.
      2) Improve on screen brightness. 600+ nits is very usable indoors, but is quite hard to use out in the sun.
      3) Improve on their haptic motor. That tiny vibrating motor need to go and replace with the kind of haptics they use in Sony Dual Sense controller.
      4) Improve on their front-firing speaker. Some chamber to help with bass + a touch louder will be much appreciated.

    • @SonyEnthusiast
      @SonyEnthusiast 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

@@abdullahmubarak6840 I agree on the brightness. It was difficult for me to film in broad daylight and I had to shade my display with my hand. Other than that, I'm mostly indoors during the pandemic. Also, very fast charging is bad for any battery long-term. Turn on Dolby Atmos. Compared to previous Sony flagships that I have (Z5P, XZP, XZ3, etc.), the 1 II is much louder and better

I love Japanese products. Its not a symbol of status. Its a symbol of discipline.
I am so sure about it because we make a SIM card for Japaneese market and the quality requirements for that product is off the chart. They want highest quality and with highest precision. They visited our factory and they literally check the staff accommodation for checking living standards. They checked the air quality of our production environment. They even checked the light conditions of our machine area.
It shows how well quality they expect to deliver to there customers. Thats one major thing i love about them.

@@tech_edit We make SIM cards of Japanese network providers SoftBank and Y-mobile. They even raise a complaint for an impression mark on chip which is not even visible with human eye. They check with 28 times zoom optics on SIm cards. Its so hard for us to keep that production flow up. Even the best machines available on the market are running with 60% reduced output to meet that quality requirements.
But i am glad that we are doing that. Now we learned the next level of quality 😅 and they pay 10 times more money for it.
This is the same reason why Sony cost much. Because the phone manufacturer must meet certain quality standards regardless of where they make it.

@@Sabundy It's too subjective for the government or some agency to be the decider of what's 'ethical'. That's why consumers need to vote with their MONEY. It's a shame that too many people are easily swayed by stupid 'woke' slogans and platitudes, or cost-cutting disguised as 'environmental awareness' (Apple/Samsung). All these companies treat their employees and factory workers like trash, pushing several to commit suicide every year (like at Foxconn), all while reciting slogans from the woke mob and trying to put up a front of morality. Sony doesn't go around copying anyone. It's absolutely right!
They also put hardware and software that work balance and make the phone last longer.

      Similar boat,
After Sony erricson dissolved ( arc and walkman series) went Nokia, from there got reintroduced to z2, was amazing, then upped to zx2,
Minor issues bug fixing were horrible though. But the GUI was amazing no doubt.
Zx2 does sooner than z2 though.. super heating and battery dying. Moreover the speaker and mic issues was horrible. Gave multiple times to be fixed but the issue kept reoccurring, and after sales team just didn't care enough to replace device. Still ghost around Sony news, shall wait for them to up their after sales before reentering their domain.

Thanks for giving voice to the Sony contribution to the smartphone marketplace. So many of the youtube "influencer" community seem to be pushing, consciously or not, towards an Apple-Samsung hegemony. Sony deserves credit for pursuing their own path, and as a camera buff I definitely want them in the marketplace. As far as ethical concerns, sadly even Google has a labor scandal. I agree with you. It actually pisses me off that fewer media outlets, youtube channels etc...don't call out Apple and Samsung more for their behaviour in these areas. However, I guess it's not surprising given how obviously these same brands essentially buy reviewers and youtube channels with access and freebies.
Equally it's also ridiculous that the same people who see themselves as woke, progressive etc.....are the same people that will happily buy Apple products regardless of the controversies around how they are made. People can be such hypocrites in these areas.
I for one take pride in buying SONY products in part because I know that SONY at least does win a lot of awards for it's ethics even if they aren't perfect. And I admire that Akio Morita started SONY not to make money, but to make society better.

Regarding the charger, that's an interesting question.. i bought a fast charger from Anker and I hardly ever use wireless charging (I know the 5 II doesn't have that, and it's not a big deal to not have worked charging for me, anyway). I love having the fastest charging possible, but if I'm honest with myself I almost never need it! Because all i do is pop the phone on charge before I go to bed. I totally agree with you
And let me add one reason
    Retaining / Appreciating the customer
From a personal experience that happened to me with Sony
    My history
In 2007 I was in the market for a new phone, at this time phone were not smart yet, so made lots of comparisons to choose between several brands in the market
On paper and after reading several reviews I chose Sony Ericsson K800i cyber shot
This was my first introduction to Sony world
The phone was simply amazing in every aspect and the camera (3.2 M cyber shot) was a breakthrough at this time
Also they provided tons of unprecedented accessories to facilitate the use of the phone in any occasion
    I bought several accessories
    Dual power travel charger
    Cover with portable tripod
Bluetooth Wrist ⌚ watch (which lead the way to smart watch later)
    Bluetooth earpiece
One year later I got a business phone line and I went to the market once again for a new phone while keeping my beloved K800i
So I got my self a G900 (came with a bundled offer a stereo Bluetooth headset which I still use till today) with touch screen / wifi / built-in card reader
Although it had a 5 M camera but the pics from my K800i the 3.2 M cyber shot remain the best
In 2013 smart phones was invading the market so I got my self Xperia SL
Smart watch 1 and still using the Bluetooth headset
And for the other phone line I got the waterproof Xperia Z1 one year later
Then the next generation of the waterproof smart watch followed
In 2016 I had a batter problem, so I replaced it in the agent
Unfortunately the agent didn't make it clear that the waterproof seal was compromised when changing the battery and YES I got my phone underwater "as usual"
There was definitely a problem but after leaving the phone turned off for 48 hours, I was surprised when I turn it on to find out it works normally once again
This is I call excellent build quality
An example of how to retain a customer
When I got my smart watch 2, I found that it doesn't read Arabic at all while smart watch 1 didn't have such problem
So I contacted Sony Egypt (via their official Facebook account) whom reply was so disappointing and unprofessional
So I made a screen shot of the reply and sent it to Sony international
I received an immediate message that they are well aware of this language problem and they are preparing a fix whick will be available on Google play store within a week time (which actually happened within a week as they said)
And as an apology for the unpleasant reply of Sony Egypt they sent me a stereo ear phones as a compliment
I really valued the gesture and respected their ethics and professional conduct
To my surprise they sent me another present (this time on my birthday) and it was a smart band
I even became more loyal to the brand and the staff who think very well about their customers
Unfortunately when I needed to change my phone in 2020 I found out that they decided to get out of the middle east region
I was so disappointed that I have to buy another brand
    But I had to
After reviewing lots of options, I found that Huawei is the closest to Sony quality
I got now the Y9s and it has the side mounted finger print reader as you mentioned in the video
Sorry for long comment but I wanted to share few years of history & quality with you

I had an XZ Premium. A decent enough phone, had some good features. Beat my older z1c, but after being spoiled by a Nokia Pureview phone, I've felt that phone cameras are still lacking that naturalness despite other upgrades. Some of the latest phones are beginning to get a proper high end feel again with the cameras, though most still seem to fall in one area - it's good for photos, but then video is not so good. Or has a tack on telephoto lens. Is natural but fails in challenging situations. Great video but is using lesser hardware, etc.

The first smartphone I had was a Samsung s2 and I loved the feeling of what that device gave compared to what I had previous. Replaced with a s4 (screen decided to crack while in my front trouser pocket). Replaced with a s7 edge (nand died after 6 months) for that reason I will never go back to Samsung.
I really hope the 1iii is a good phone compared to the competition especially with the devices coming from oppo & xiaomi.
Best device I've had so far is this huawei mate 20 pro and I've had zero issues after two years. My battery lasts a day of heavy use because of the battery health software. I really look forward to seeing if sony's can give this a run for its money.

One of the points you mentioned was also one that I though I wasn't gonna enjoy... The Dynamic Vibration system is a feature that most people turn off and complain about in forums, Reddit, etc... However after getting my 5II, I actually enjoy using it for movies, it truly makes them more immersive for me.
And the one game that I've tried and it's able to have it enabled is Duet, the electronic soundtrack goes hand in hand with the gameplay, so the DV is awesome here.

I am currently using Sony Xperia Z5, and I have atually shot all of my videos on my channel with it, or at least for the past few years. This is my second phone of this model, and the only major issue that I have encountered is the fact that when I am shooting a video the phone overheats quickly and it turns the camera off to cool itself. This happens when I am shooting in 1080p and not 4K. And I can record max 6-7 min of video before it overheats. This happens to both of my Xperia Z5 phones, so I guess it's a common problem. I hope the new models have fixed this issue. I can even accept the phone not being waterproofed but having a stable cooling system, because it's way more important and practical.

    • @tech_edit
      @tech_edit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for your comment. It definitely was an issue for a while, but now Sony is on top of it. Graphene cooling system in the 5 II could indicate the way forward... I hope you're still able to sit the videos you need with the Z5, albeit with more breaks than you'd like!

The problem with the Xperia Z5 series (and the Z3+) was the processor: Snapdragon 810. Sony also set a relatively low temperature limit to prevent damage to the phone (unlike other companies where they let it burn, reducing the lifespan). This was fixed when they switched away from the SD810. So far on my XZ Premium, I haven't gotten any temperature warnings the past 3½ years

Really cool to see that Sony is one of the more ethical companies. I absolutely adore their phone design as well, it just looks classy and serious. I love that it looks serious but is also one of the better gaming phones with all the 240 hz and the h/s power control, simply ideal for gaming. Not to mention that it has a fairly modest camera hump while being one of the best camera phones.
I feel like other companies like Samsung just want the big numbers that really don't mean that much, like the whole 108 mp camera thing or saying in their commercials that their 8k video is better than cinema quality. Smartphone sensors are barely large enough for 12 mp, just stop lmao. Now they're working on 600mp sensors, just why? So we can have large files that look like oil paintings? Sony tends to have more funcional innovations.

Here, Sony doesn't even talk about their phones enough for people to talk about them. Great phones, but I've personally seen zero marketing by them where I live. Their phones even become available months after their release, with no carrier support or 5G. I know 5G is in its infancy, but if I'm going to be carrying an expensive phone that tauts longevity in support and durability, then I would want that feature available at launch to use for the next 2 or 3 years.
These are the same issues I had with HTC. Loved their phones, but they never quite pushed them into users hands. They only survive off of loyalist.

Sony doesn't have a strong presence in many places, even in major cities like the US. This is because the competition is already packed with Apple and Samsung products, plus Huawei Oppo ZTE and many other cheaper options. But Sony does have a strong presence in places where they do get attention, mainly Japan and that's one of their largest market, and next would be Taiwan and UK. Even in countries which telcos previously promote Sony, like Singapore eg, have to now depend on their own marketing and stores as the telcos don't want to promote Sony since the consumers are sadly occupied with Apple, Samsung and the other common name brands.

    • @DonnKnee
      @DonnKnee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@CatalystOfIntifadha Yeah, I already knew why. I was only explaining why people aren't talking about Sony phones as much. It's not because they aren't great phones, it's because Sony just doesn't care to market their phones in a lot of markets around the world.
If Sony fails in the mobile world, it will be because of them, not the consumers recognition.

Still rocking a 3+ year old Xperia XA2, battery health at 83% (with 1 year of heavy gaming on it). Just recently with the whole work from home scenario I got a record 4+ days of standby time on it with 4.5h of SOT included. Meanwhile on a Shitsung I got for free on contract the battery plummeted to 92% within a few months of use. I'm eyeing the Xperia 10 III when it appears in my country which will be plenty enough for my needs. That 4500 mAh battery paired with that efficient SoC and Oled screen, I think that might just be the battery king of 2021. And it will probably last me a good 4 years. The only nitpick I have to Xperia phones is that there is no more compact lineup. I had the Z3C in the past (unfortunately I managed to smash the screen glass to pieces) and my dad had the Z1C. Great little powerplants for people like us who don't care about watching movies on a phone.

It's hard to find your identity but harder still to commit to once you know. I highly admire that the elegant approach here on sony365.
One thing I would suggest: make videos with 21:9 support. Makes the Xperia sony365 experience that extra bit nicer. Whether that means shoving subtitles slightly higher or using a slightly wider lens or going all out to export videos in 21:9, a super wide screen experience is quite the experience. I'd love to watch this content in super wide screen without disrupting the content.

I love Sony, I did not get to use Xperia a whole lot to be honest. I have been thinking to get a refurbished one but let's see. Having Telephoto lens in Mark IIIs excited me more than anything else to be honest since Camera is something very important for me, and for video. I know I will not be able to buy one anytime soon but seeing Sony giving these important features is making me happy.

I've always thought that Sony isn't definetely the best on the market, but surely it's a very honest company, and it always gives you what they do ensure to the customer, never more, but also never less.
I used to spend my money exclusively on Sony videogame consoles, smartphones or headphones for about 10 years by now, never been unsatisfied.
I also have to say something more: They're Japanese.

I was a Nokia Windows phone loyalist for many years who didn't make the switch till the very end. I decided on the xperia xz2 premium (2018) and am so in love with this phone. The 16:9 screen ratio and 4K screen, ensures comfortable reading. The audio/sound is so much better than on other phones. Sony is the only way to go for me and I wish Australia still had the company here. I am a little afraid of letting go of the wider phone size of my current xperia ( still working without missing a beat). This pending xperia 1 iii looks enticing though so am avidly awaiting it's release. I hope I won't miss the 16:9 format

The side finger print sensor is great under most circumstances but when using and Xperia phone on a gimbal it becomes an issue because the phone holder obstructs it. I've found this a constant issue when using my Xperia phones for filming.

cheers Dejan! When I changed the name of the channel I did lose a lot, but within the next 26 days, we were back to the previous numbers - and now we are growing again, albeit not wildly quickly. I'd definitely rather have a YT channel where I'm talking about products, brands and values I love than just constantly unboxing smartphones from different manufacturers with dubious environmental and human rights credentials... This is actually good fun! Thanks for your support. Tom

It's funny because so many folks will say that Xperias can't compete with the latest offerings from powerhouses like Google, Samsung etc - but there's something about owning an Xperia that makes it hard to be happy with other devices after that! Only Xperia owners know this of course. Anyway, i think you'll feel great about coming back to an Xperia device. Thanks so much for commenting! Cheers, Tom

Great video, agree with all points. Very much underrated phones - the only thing I would point out is that Sony seem to release a piece of software only to lose it a few years later, which is sad. Xperia Video, Album, Lifelong, TrackID to name a few. Still, love using an Xperia. Sadly they are no longer sold in Australia where I live, so I have to import but looking forward to the day when they return for good. Keep up the good work Sony365!

This phone was already on my radar for my next daily driver. The information on sony's ethical values just solidified my decision. So glad to know that if I'm paying that much for a piece of hardware, a child in some factory wasn't slaving away putting it together.

I remember seeing the first water resistant smart phone: the Xperia Z. I bought it instantly, and I bought it directly from the Sony website so it wouldn't have those horrid and tacky phone carrier logos on it. It was a thing of beauty. You should have seen the many startled and confused faces when I would suddenly drop it in the water pitcher in a restaurant or wash it under a tab. I bathed with it, went in jacuzzies with it. Once on the beach I threw it in the ocean just because a friend heard that my phone was water resistant. So I showed him. I loved that thing. Gorgeous industrial design, too, that I dared not put a cover on it.
