I think we have the exactly same taste in terms of software experience. Smartphones these have become too long, pulling down notifications from the top edge through the super long screen is plain dumb, that's also the reason I will never use iphones, they dont even get the basics right.
The flagship that gives all features. Have the Xperia 1 II myself, and now my wife has upgraded to the Xperia 1 III from S10+. Natural choice as Samsung has removed headphone jack, memory expansion card and even the charger!

Have to agree with your comments on the battery as well but I'm carrying a spare charger with me. I think it's the best phone Sony have ever made .
I have purchased this in the UK and its really amazing. I have one issue it does get hot from time to time and hope the next software update can solve this. Other than that it's truly worth it.

I have had my Sony Xperia 1iii for 3 weeks now after coming from a Samsung S21 Ultra, and I must say I do not regret changing. The camera is really good, the pictures that you take with the Xperia 1iii are more true to life than the S21U. It's nice to watch a video clip in full screen without a notch or pin hole. The speakers sound very good, as they are both situated on the front of the phone. Having a headphone jack and expandable memory is a real joy. You also have a LED for notifications. You can access the SIM and memory card without having a SIM ejector tool. Followed by a 30 watt charging brick out of the box. You do not get all this with a Samsung S21U. The only criticism I have is the display is not very bright in direct sunlight, and the selfie camera could be better.
I am watching this on my 1iii. You really nailed this review. If you're into the unique selling points that it offers (4k hdr, headphone jack, expandable storage) it is a totally worthwhile purchase. It competes well with the ultra flagship models from Apple and Samsung, all while letting you add 1tb of storage and plug in headphones.
Have had mine nearly 3 weeks. I expected the camera to be excellent so I've not been surprised there (it is). What HAS surprised me, however, is just how good the audio is - truly superb. And if you select 360 for movies it is remarkable how wide the stereo gets, even with the speakers. It's not full surround sound but, honestly, it's not far off Combined with the screen, you'll not find a better phone for media consumption.

Compared to all the ultras out there sony's Mark iii 1 is what I truly called ultra. The camera on the phone is truly one of the better out there. Storage expansion, headphone jack and clean ui awesome speakers and 4k screen (overkill). Love your vids as always Adam. ❤️❤️❤️👍
You may say overkill but once you start using 4K display on phone as your daily driver, at first you may see no difference with the lower resolution displays but in time you'll notice the difference and you'll never want to switch back to a lower resolution displays

For people who have no work or anything to do all day can plug the charger when its low, I used my phone everyday for about 3 to 4 hours max except in weekends, but weekend I can easily charge the phone when power is low, in weekdays I've never seen my phone battery as low as 30% I really don't understand why people complaints about insufficient power

Thinking of getting one, but I am quite torn as my Xperia 1 is still really good. My previous phone Xperia Z, I was able to use it for over 5 years before having batt issue, and conveniently lost the phone at a wedding. I may not use all the feature, but my experience with Xperia lines so far has been pleasant, and majority of my phones can last over 4 years before starts having issues. But, the 21:9 ratio is freaking amazing. It feels awkward at first, but as you get used to it, all the other phones felt... short 😅 And the simple UI is wayyyyy better than heavily bloated system like the one on... *ehem*. Thanks for the review, I would seriously consider all options before upgrading. p/s: didn't realized you're in Selangor area until I saw Sri Pentas photo 😂

Perhaps stick with the 1 as long as you can. I think this is aimed at those coming into the Eco system, and need a decent amount features to complement their decisions in comparison to others (while begging the question of far on the edge is necessary). One could be so far out, that it spoils the enjoyment of the finer things. I've generally stuck with my phones, until there is a big leap to make a difference in my life, and this for me was one of such moments. The biggest surprise for me though is discovering my role, and perspective of the global market. So it's a balancing act, while basically remaining relative. Best wishes.

Came from a Note 20 Ultra 5G. I'm liking this 1 lll better. The flat screen alone is enough for me lol. This thing is pretty fast and smooth. I'm starting to learn how to use the camera and loving it😁
☆☆☆☆ Never owned Xperia phones before , going by positive reviews I would like to give it a try by ordering Xperia 1 IV which is currently on the pipelines. Inclusion of following had persuaded me to switch from Samsung to SONY, ☆ integration/incorporation of SD slot expandable memory, ☆Headphone Jack, ☆Sony Apps and 70-105mm telephoto. 🔥 I hope SONY incorporates Variable apature & a Bigger sensor ( closer to 1 inch) Or set of faster lenses Which would blow all other competitions out of water and hopefully Sony would takes the Crown in smart phones.
I pre-ordered the Frosted Purple model from Sony a couple months ago, but they cancelled my order without warning. I talked to the support escalations team who said they couldn't help now that the phone was out of stock. I desperately needed a new phone because my Xperia 1 was dying, so I went with a Pixel 5a and I like it so far. Surprisingly nice for being almost a third the price of the Xperia 1 III.
I've been a Samsung guy for years following the Note from the first model and now using the 10+. Too many things are missing now however so this will be my second Xperia after the Z Ultra in 2013... Can't wait.
I like your detailed review. It is equal for the price vs other brands given the fact that Sony has everything in the box while other brands removing features such as Headphone jack and Charger and you'll buy it separately. In total other brands will cost you more than Xperia
Yes definitely I'm interested to buy Xperia phones over point of shoot camera No squabble... Addition of Picture profile so important, hopefully SONY adds this on either in Xperia 1 iv or Xperia i2. One inch sensor, SD card, Mic Jack, Variable apature & 70-105mm lens will win it for SONY surely. I also wish Sony would implement one button recording which super important in emergency situations.

The T Shirt looks cool especially after Watched Part 1 of Season 5 of Money Heist. Sony Makes some decent Phones but they don’t market of their Smartphones like other companies. Sony is The only Flagship makers that uses Headphone Jack. Overall mark iii is a decent offering by Sony .
I have had this phone for 3 weeks now. It's amazing! If I can nitpick, I don't know why Sony thought it would be a good idea to have a game that takes up 2.5 GBs of space pre-installed. And I unfortunately had the charging bug, but it seems that Sony fixed it with the latest update.

I initally wanted this phone but after months of waiting for stock with the headphone to make it worth it, i dont feel its worth it. I'll wait for the new note. A pen will do me much better. I only wanted this for the 4k 120fps slow mo but now the new gopro can do it.. sony shouldve made more ofnthese phones. I would've bought one MONTHS ago. Cant justify the 1.3k price tag other companies offer all types of incentives and trade in.. Sony needs to bring these phones into the phone stores.
Sony are definitely ticking all the right boxes with their new smarphones. I would personally go for the Xperia 5iii rather than the 1iii, simply because I prefer a more compact phone. But they both look great.
Great video, Adam. Just bought Xperia XZ3 refurbished from Japan. Reminiscing my time back then with Sony. Used to have Sony phones since SE k750, then SE Vivaz, SE c905, and lastly Xperia Z1. The biggest problem for me is the exorbitant price.

I still remember when Sony Xperia is my choice of phones, but now, it seems like Sony Mobile doesn't interest me anymore with phones from the likes of Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi offering the same kind of experience, some better with a price tag that I could wrap my head around. I still use the Xperia XZ2 Premium as a backup phone for emails and stuff but that's about it.

@@AdamLoboTV 4k with 120 Hz doesn't matter if it doesn't get bright enough, the form factor doesn't matter if it doesn't last long enough and in the era of USBC high end dac, I don't think this has the charm to pull me in. Now, here me out, I want a headphone jack with SD card support, but combined with other the phone other flaws, it doesn't worth it for me .
@@audiogo6573 The phones doesn't bright enough because if the phones is too bright, it will lose the detail. If you use the phone in a direct sunlight, ya, it's pretty hard to see what's on the screen, but why do you even use your phone in a hot day with sunlight directly on your face anyway
I've always liked more Hz (I don't like the battery life impact, lol). Speaking of the screen, the 4k screen is the real impact on battery life. 2k was fine on my last phone (which had worse battery life, sigh). I'd love a phone that gave most people 16 hours screen-on-time (then I'd get 8, lol). In all seriousness I get 5.5-8 (I could do better, I choose not to). The battery should have been at least 5000 Mah, imo. I like that my 512 GB purple import cost less than US MSRP and the price in your vid, that's for sure. I didn't get any wireless or points, though. It's a great phone (the mic is great for calls). The cloud nor a wire can make up for swapping SDs. I'd go back to swapping batteries over a bank, in a heart beat. The speakers were better than I was expecting for sure. Whether you're cheap or an audiophile wired can't be beat for price, sound, latency, more environmentally friendly. I'm definitely enjoying for the content I consume. I don't even like haptics, but I haven't turned the X1 III's off. This phone is bad, in that it makes me want a tripod, 1 TB SD cards, blackshark cooling fan (That's Qualcomm's SD 888's bad), gamesir (I'd prefer Kishi, but I think it is too long), solar panel, noreve case, Devil cases, and more accessories. Carriers are such bullies, I wish they'd stop restricting phones from things they can do. I had to buy a new wireless charger & I'm hoping it works, as my old 10W RavPower didn't. I'm not that thrilled about the new wires I had to buy (I didn't have anything usb C yet), they're good, but still an expense. I am glad it has USB C and not micro usb.

Anyone who says this phone is not good, this person is very far from understanding the technology .. A phone without curved edges and no hole in the screen, front speakers, SD card port, 3.5 port, a wonderful screen, 120 Hz, and a free charger 30 watts , gaming future , free wireless headphones in some market , 12 ram 256gb and 512 gb + 1terabyte sd card , There is also a very important thing for me, which is the weight of the phone 186 grams!? And the battery size is 4500!? with 6.5 screen size !? There are other companies that weigh her phones 230 grams and have a battery and screen size similar to the Sony phone

Good review, but you miss to mention one core featured that this phone have. It's the HS power control that can plug the charger without charging the battery. It's the same featured like ROG 5

@@fkingnobody Yes the phone seems to run cooler after the software upgrade, especially noticed and appreciated when taking photos and video outdoors during warm days.
games play cooler if you have your charger plugged in as it has the option to switch the battery off which makes the phone cooler and the battery % stays the same as it was before you start playing

I also have xz2p. It is beast like you mention, but somehow it'll outdated for the next 1-2 years.. So 1 iii is best phone to update (except lowlights camera) .. Unless they make another 4k screen With 16:9 aspect ratio

Is the price worth it? I paid a premium for the XZ Premium when it came out and I'm still using it. It's starting to show its age, but I've never gotten over 4 years out of a smartphone before like I have with this. The battery care definitely helped, so I'm more than happy to spend the money on the Mark III
I had mine for 2 days.. And I returned: the screen format is way too narrow and the worst... That sd888 cooking 🍳 processor! Can't live with it! That is ruining the phone.. Every phone with sd888 is to be avoided! I'm a big sony Ericsson and Xperia fan, and I own many of them, but with those 2 problems I can't live with! Waiting for 1 mark lv! I ordered an xz premium red brand new for watching videos, perfect screen format and resolution and non cooking 🍳 processor! And no notch, front camera hole etc.
Waiting for mine to come in now. Finally upgrading from the xz3. Interested to see how the battery works, as I hear it's all over the board when I look into a lot of reviews. I suspect I might get better life as I typically turn brightness relatively low most of the time as I find over 50% most of the time to be a bit overkill. I do find it odd they just don't go that final push and pop like a 5500 or 60000 battery in it with that 4k, though.

Inclusion of following had persuaded me to switch from Samsung to SONY,
☆ integration/incorporation of SD slot expandable memory, ☆Headphone Jack,
☆Sony Apps and 70-105mm telephoto.
🔥 I hope SONY incorporates Variable apature & a Bigger sensor ( closer to 1 inch) Or set of faster lenses Which would blow all other competitions out of water and hopefully Sony would takes the Crown in smart phones.
I pre-ordered the Frosted Purple model from Sony a couple months ago, but they cancelled my order without warning. I talked to the support escalations team who said they couldn't help now that the phone was out of stock. I desperately needed a new phone because my Xperia 1 was dying, so I went with a Pixel 5a and I like it so far. Surprisingly nice for being almost a third the price of the Xperia 1 III.

I like your detailed review. It is equal for the price vs other brands given the fact that Sony has everything in the box while other brands removing features such as Headphone jack and Charger and you'll buy it separately. In total other brands will cost you more than Xperia

Addition of Picture profile so important, hopefully SONY adds this on either in Xperia 1 iv or Xperia i2.
One inch sensor, SD card, Mic Jack, Variable apature & 70-105mm lens will win it for SONY surely. I also wish Sony would implement one button recording which super important in emergency situations.

Sony Makes some decent Phones but they don’t market of their Smartphones like other companies. Sony is The only Flagship makers that uses Headphone Jack. Overall mark iii is a decent offering by Sony .

If I can nitpick, I don't know why Sony thought it would be a good idea to have a game that takes up 2.5 GBs of space pre-installed. And I unfortunately had the charging bug, but it seems that Sony fixed it with the latest update.

I initally wanted this phone but after months of waiting for stock with the headphone to make it worth it, i dont feel its worth it. I'll wait for the new note. A pen will do me much better. I only wanted this for the 4k 120fps slow mo but now the new gopro can do it.. sony shouldve made more ofnthese phones. I would've bought one MONTHS ago. Cant justify the 1.3k price tag other companies offer all types of incentives and trade in..
Sony needs to bring these phones into the phone stores.

Sony are definitely ticking all the right boxes with their new smarphones. I would personally go for the Xperia 5iii rather than the 1iii, simply because I prefer a more compact phone. But they both look great.

I think the resolution of the screen is killing the battery (aside of the high refresh rate of course)

For example: my mother's galaxy note 8 has a 1440p resolution option and it will consume the battery life 20% more than the standard 1080p
I still remember when Sony Xperia is my choice of phones, but now, it seems like Sony Mobile doesn't interest me anymore with phones from the likes of Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi offering the same kind of experience, some better with a price tag that I could wrap my head around. I still use the Xperia XZ2 Premium as a backup phone for emails and stuff but that's about it.

@@AdamLoboTV 4k with 120 Hz doesn't matter if it doesn't get bright enough, the form factor doesn't matter if it doesn't last long enough and in the era of USBC high end dac, I don't think this has the charm to pull me in. Now, here me out, I want a headphone jack with SD card support, but combined with other the phone other flaws, it doesn't worth it for me .

@@audiogo6573 The phones doesn't bright enough because if the phones is too bright, it will lose the detail. If you use the phone in a direct sunlight, ya, it's pretty hard to see what's on the screen, but why do you even use your phone in a hot day with sunlight directly on your face anyway
I've always liked more Hz (I don't like the battery life impact, lol). Speaking of the screen, the 4k screen is the real impact on battery life. 2k was fine on my last phone (which had worse battery life, sigh). I'd love a phone that gave most people 16 hours screen-on-time (then I'd get 8, lol). In all seriousness I get 5.5-8 (I could do better, I choose not to). The battery should have been at least 5000 Mah, imo.
I like that my 512 GB purple import cost less than US MSRP and the price in your vid, that's for sure. I didn't get any wireless or points, though. It's a great phone (the mic is great for calls). The cloud nor a wire can make up for swapping SDs. I'd go back to swapping batteries over a bank, in a heart beat. The speakers were better than I was expecting for sure. Whether you're cheap or an audiophile wired can't be beat for price, sound, latency, more environmentally friendly. I'm definitely enjoying for the content I consume. I don't even like haptics, but I haven't turned the X1 III's off.
This phone is bad, in that it makes me want a tripod, 1 TB SD cards, blackshark cooling fan (That's Qualcomm's SD 888's bad), gamesir (I'd prefer Kishi, but I think it is too long), solar panel, noreve case, Devil cases, and more accessories.
Carriers are such bullies, I wish they'd stop restricting phones from things they can do.
I had to buy a new wireless charger & I'm hoping it works, as my old 10W RavPower didn't. I'm not that thrilled about the new wires I had to buy (I didn't have anything usb C yet), they're good, but still an expense. I am glad it has USB C and not micro usb.
Its really nice, but too expensive for me. I always had Sony (even on TVs) but this time I went to Asus Zenfone 8 Flip. Half the price and also very good (saw your clip as well).

Anyone who says this phone is not good, this person is very far from understanding the technology .. A phone without curved edges and no hole in the screen, front speakers, SD card port, 3.5 port, a wonderful screen, 120 Hz, and a free charger 30 watts , gaming future , free wireless headphones in some market , 12 ram 256gb and 512 gb + 1terabyte sd card , There is also a very important thing for me, which is the weight of the phone 186 grams!? And the battery size is 4500!? with 6.5 screen size !? There are other companies that weigh her phones 230 grams and have a battery and screen size similar to the Sony phone

Good review, but you miss to mention one core featured that this phone have. It's the HS power control that can plug the charger without charging the battery. It's the same featured like ROG 5

I also have xz2p. It is beast like you mention, but somehow it'll outdated for the next 1-2 years.. So 1 iii is best phone to update (except lowlights camera) .. Unless they make another 4k screen With 16:9 aspect ratio

Some said cannot use mobile data or make calls or support certain sim card.As a Xz2p user, are you not experience any issues regarding the communication problem?
Is the price worth it? I paid a premium for the XZ Premium when it came out and I'm still using it. It's starting to show its age, but I've never gotten over 4 years out of a smartphone before like I have with this.
The battery care definitely helped, so I'm more than happy to spend the money on the Mark III

I had mine for 2 days.. And I returned: the screen format is way too narrow and the worst... That sd888 cooking 🍳 processor! Can't live with it! That is ruining the phone.. Every phone with sd888 is to be avoided! I'm a big sony Ericsson and Xperia fan, and I own many of them, but with those 2 problems I can't live with! Waiting for 1 mark lv! I ordered an xz premium red brand new for watching videos, perfect screen format and resolution and non cooking 🍳 processor! And no notch, front camera hole etc.

Waiting for mine to come in now. Finally upgrading from the xz3. Interested to see how the battery works, as I hear it's all over the board when I look into a lot of reviews. I suspect I might get better life as I typically turn brightness relatively low most of the time as I find over 50% most of the time to be a bit overkill. I do find it odd they just don't go that final push and pop like a 5500 or 60000 battery in it with that 4k, though.
