The Sony Xperia 1 III Comes with a 6.5" 21:9 CinemaWide™ 4K OLED display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC with 12 gigs of RAM and 512GB storage.
Sony is also allowing storage expansion through a hybrid sim tray which can be easily removed without any tools.
For optics we have a quad rear camera module - The Xperia 1 III has a 12MP primary with an F1.7 lens, a 12MP ultrawide with a F2.2, a 0.3MP TOF sensor and finally another 12MP sensor - this time with a variable focal length. To the front we have an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
When it comes to charging, there is 30W USB Power Delivery (USB PD) fast charging support that charges the 4500mAh battery to 50% in 30 minutes. The Xperia 1 III also has Qi Wireless charging support and the Battery Share Function let’s us reverse wireless charge our accessories!

7:38 correction Samsung has promised 3 major android updates and 4 years of security patches not just 2 android updates
Every flagship android phone I tried has heating issue when gamin, even iphone and Samsung heat up, especially s21, the s888 chip is a oven. Aleast Sony has HS control and phone won't heat while plugged in, similar too gaming phones... something missing in s21 that gets hot and loses performance. Idk why reviewers only mention the heating only on Xperia 1 iii, every android flagship with s888 heats up.
Yup .. That's correct. I Wanted to get the Asus ROG Phone 5S .. But that snapdragon 888 runs too hot .. It's a snapdragon problem ..
SONY has been killing it with their Xperia line up the last two years imho. I've had my Xperia 1 mark ii for over 1 year now and it has been a fantastic phone!.

@@C4ETech it's held up in the sense that it still gives me the same amount of time. I get around a day out of it. I think the battery 🔋 care software will keep the battery in good health.
While everyone is covering the same brands smartphones iot devices etc
Some brands like Sony do need attention and I am happy that Ash is covering up these things

120hz 4k can make into other phones.. Only thing missing in this phone is IR blaster.. Remaining all basics covered.. Notification led , headphone jack, sd card

Kinda disappointed Ash didn't talk about the state of the art burst mode on this phone, easily a selling point for this phone
Looking at whole package and issues with the phone, burst mode isn't a game changer here for $1300, sorry.
Or the HS control that solves the battery heat plus he forgot that galaxy s21 and iphone heat up too, especially the s21 and almost every phone with s888. Every phone has issues.

Welp I do agree the overheating is kind of a buzz kill, but it cools down rather fast if you turn off 120hz and turning down gaming performance mode, I upgraded from a note 10 plus I honestly don't miss anything from it. And the brightness ain't so bad in my opinion

Regarding night mode, I noticed (with my Xperia 1 II which I had before) that "feature" hardware shutter button actually messes up with it. Basically taking handheld night shots on the latest Xperia flagships is mission impossible. I tried to use Bluetooth shutter button with a tripod and saw the real difference in photo quality.
Who knew a 3.5mm jack would become a $500 feature. Smart.

for night mode hmm in manual mode you need in this phone do a overexpose to have good image, not like other phones underexposure.

Google Pixel can do perfect night shot in auto mode. Just 1 click, perfect night picture done...whole process just 5 second.
Xperia 1, 1II, 1III can do perfect night shot but only in manual mode, alot adjustment had to tune, Whole process need 3 - 5 minute. Please take a look on Michael Fisher Xperia review, Night shot on New York City with Xperia Vs Pixel. Xperia took him 15 minute of adjustment only same result as Pixel 5 which took him 5 second.
@@LimChingLiang if people are that obsessed with camera phones then just get a real camera. What's wrong with a product being different? Pixel is a low budget phone with a good camera phone...I have both Xperia 1 and pixel...I don't see anything special with the pixel...

Same camera since Xperia 1 (2018) Sony IMX 363. The only differences is adding 105mm telephoto lens only
Even Xperia 1 iii still don't have night shot in auto mode.
@@LimChingLiang yes, all of the xperia 1 series share the same *ultra-wide* camera sensor which is imx 363 (fun fact: every pixel phone uses the imx 363 as the main camera sensor, except for the first pixel). But only the mark ii and iii share the same *main* camera sensor
Also all three xperia 1 phones use different telephoto camera sensors

It's 4k 120hz refresh rate not software make refresh rate. When open motion blur reduction it's can boost 240 hz.
Is the heating due to sd888? Because all sd888 phones heat up weirdly compared to their last years phone with sd865
Hi, I was also a Sony Fan. My first Sony Phone was Sony Ericsson K750i. I also owned Walkman series phoneslike W810i .They were great phones. I have used Xperia ZR and the last one was Xperia Z3 compact. After seeing this review I feel that that Sony isn't improved. The heating issue was the main problem.Sad to see these issues still exist.
it does heat up, but that's mainly cos of the 4k display and the 888 underneath , but fair point

damn, its actually a really nice device, specs are good, build is exceptional, but there are a few niggling issues that makes this less than ideal

sony flagships sit in a weird spot. Everyone loves to have one but they price them ridiculously high that no one ends up getting it. I still remember rocking xperia Z, probably the coolest looking phone at the time.

My only concern with this phone is daily battery life.
Xperia 1 is 4k all the time, take a screenshot you will get to know. And ye it is sharper than any other brand

@@C4ETech competition is not about buying a brand and praising it above other, i have seen sony being generous towards user privacy, all the multimedia apps are still have impression over my mind till date, I've used so many devices since sony left India, i say they are more value for money compared to Xperia but in my priorities of owning a phone XPERIA was and will be the best

We all know all glass scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, but the price... I don't recommend anything above 500USD unless the person knows what he wants, but then he probably won't need recommendations anyway.

Sony should have ditched the snapdragon 888 and gone with mediatek dimensity 1200. Atleast that wouldnt overheat and would support 4k hrd at all times.
Dimensity does not support 4k 120hz. Only SD 888 support 4k 120Hz. Previous SD865 support 4k but not 120hz, That why Xperia 1 II only got 60hz 4k display.
I'm surprised why reviewers don't mention the s888 being the problem, it heats up on every flagship phone but they only mention it on Sony phones 😂😂😂

Sony Xperia 1 iii is in its class of its own....
Sony sucks because on the front it shows you these beautiful features like premium design camera exclusive sony apps water resistance bla bla but fail to master the basics. There phones tend to heat up more eventually leading to motherboard failure, it’s like a weird scam i mean for a year it keeps up but after a year the phone starts to show signs sudden turning off black screen and by that time your phone is out of warranty boom and then they make you pay 80% of the phones amount. There batteries degrade over every single os updates, like literally visible drops after every single updates. And speaking of updates sony phones are always late on the schedule, and even if they get they are so not optimised leaving the phone sluggish over time. So if you want a novelty yeah get a sony phone show off its nice premium body screen or camera or whatever but if you want a productive long lasting device i bet you can find pretty good deal even for a lesser price.

I do agree it is overpriced and I've already returned mine because of issues with the headphone jack. The phone has so much potential but it misses the mark on so many little things, it's the hottest phone I've ever had it has a lackluster night mode the battery dies so quickly almost forgot that pathetic 8 megapixel front-facing camera
