★ 4K 🇨🇭Cab ride Pfäffikon SZ - Wetzikon - Zürch HB - Affoltern am Albis - Zug, Switzerland [06.2021]

- In this video, we accompany the S5, an S-Bahn (commuter train) in the region around Zürich in sunny weather. We start in Pfäffikon in the Kanton of Schwyz, where we travel along a short section of the Südostbahn railway, crossing the lake of Zürich to Rapperswil. From there we take the Glatthalbahn to Zürich main station.
From Zürich there are two direct ways to get to Zug (not including the Sihltalbahn). One is via Thalwil, where InterCity services to Luzern and Lugano travel. The other is via Affoltern am Albis, which is a mostly single tracked line that branches off the mainline in Zürich Altstetten. That is the way we will be travelling today (see the map at 0:57). There's actually quite a nice vista of the alps around Luzern on our way to Zug that the camera doesn't really do justice to.

Is anybody else experiencing reoccuring pixelation? If so, please complain to youtube about this on your browser, so they re-encode the video properly. It was uploaded in the youtube recommended format, I really don't know why this has started happening again. It was a problem a few years ago too. If you're watching with the vp9 codec, you won't be experiencing it as much.
It mostly happens at speed. There is too much information for the bitrate to handle, so it loses quality. But why it's pumping like that, I don't know.
I'm experiencing it on the Android app with quality set to high... It had been a while since I've seen this kind of artifacts

That's interesting. Was the line across the causeway from Pfäffikon to Rapperswil constructed in 1942/43 then, perhaps as an alternative link under wartime conditions? That walkway across the lake looks great fun.
Actually it's from 1878. The bridges have however been renewed.
Whem you are in Zurich a visit of Rapperswil is advisable. From the "Holzsteg" youve got some great views

@@lorirocks777 not a problem, I tend to watch these cab ride videos for enjoyment but also for details on the line. Over time I have learned a great deal on the Swiss signaling system and love calling them as the train passes.
@@rninrvr That's exactly how drivers in training start out. It's nice that it's not only men who are interested in these videos. I'm thinking of doing a video where I talk through the signals a bit.
@@lorirocks777 that is a great idea. There is a Norwegian driver who posts under TrainThor who is doing that with his system and I find it informative and fascinating. Also have you given any thought to using TH-cam's Join to get assistance for doing your videos?
I think the join is mainly for those who livestream, but I'll look into it. I don't want to make it too commercial.

I could be wrong but these swiss trains seem to accelerate and brake faster than trains in other countries. They just whooooosh into the station and then zoom off again. Or maybe it's the editing?
