That is not clear to me how his basic attacks are, are they melee like the rest of the guardians or are they basic at a distance that go through subjects like Silvano's?
I'm just happy we finally have another Polynesian god. Poor Pele has been holding up the pantheon by herself for so long lol.
Ugh, but I struggle playing her, I feel like she deserves so much more than that….
these gods are beyond evil and corrupt the souls of mankind. case in point pele warring with her sister (im hawaiian) and trying to destroy reality of hawaii in her image. there are hawaiian gods that are so powerful (papa and wakea) that hera is enthralled but ignores life. The worse one however is aunty Hina. Careful Bra, the rock or cartman wont save you from this Tita.
Those God's crazy stories look so cool when animated. Ymir for example or Hou Yi or Ganesha or any of the three sons of Izanagi and Izanami. An animation for their origin gotta be super cool to watch.

ITS MAUI TIME!
I've been watching the recent god reveals and/or trailers, and I have to say it reignites my will to play Smite again! Unfortunately, I don't have enough currency to get *all* the new ones, but I'll be sure to keep on the lookout for the chance to get some of them- Maui, Charon, Bake-Kujira, and Atlas are my top priorities, for now.
As far as I remember, the last "new" god I've seen released was... Morgan le Fay.

Would’ve been sick if his ult was interactable with the rest of his kit. Like pick up and slam down the island again while using his 3 or something. Sick design tho I love his kit

Pretty much the same kit bar a couple changes
@ArcticDrake A League of Legends support champ that has a hook that lets him drag or dash to enemies, and a lantern that allies can click to be brought to Thresh's current location. He also has a an ult that creates terrain that slows enemies. Not exactly the same but most "hook" champions in games get similar kits.

to be fair the only things that change from tresh to this god is the fact that the going in part isnt tied to his hook and that he doesnt need to go in to use tresh's e and he cant push ppl away just towards him. Other than that, the same exact champ, the playstyle and all.

I like that they are adding some gods from the other pantheons rather than those from the more common ones, namely Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and Norse. I would like to see them add some more Voodoo and Slavic deities. However, there is one Egyptian deity that I hope gets added and that is Hathor. Considering she, Aphrodite, Freya, and Ishtar have somewhat overlapping areas of dominion, there could be a kind of four-way rivalry between them over who is the "true" goddess of beauty and love.

It is basically Thresh from League of Legends. Similar idea of a hook character that can pull enemies or allies.
@@StefanLopuszanski Well it was inevitable that it would happen because in Maui's mythology there are many stories of him using his magic hook to catch and attract various things like the sun or the islands.
@@No-soy-un-bizcocho : I mean maybe. But there are many different ways to do hooks. In LoL there is Thresh, Pyke, Blitzcrank, Nautilus, and more if you consider any short range pull a "hook." They could have approached this in a huge number of ways. But it is VERY Thresh-like with the wind up hook that slowly pulls and an ally escape tool.
Not that it is bad ... Thresh works very well and is one of the most popular Champions in LoL.

i think he was the first or at least one of the first playmaking style of support.
his introduction changed the design philosophy of all future support champions.
@@baonkang5990 : I dunno about the first since Blitzcrank and other snare / pick Champs like Morgana came long before him. But he still is one of the only Champions to give mobility to teammates. They've tried to add other things in playtesting many times but so far it hasn't worked out as well as Thresh's lantern.

Maui's gameplay just seems like pure fun tbh -- the only thing I'm missing is his transformations.
In fact, this inspires me to homebrew the Manaikalani for D&D.

MANAIAKALANI - The Chief's Fishline
Weapon (Hook & Line), Legendary (Requires Attunement)
Type: Simple Melee.
Damage: 1d8+3 Bludgeoning or Piercing.
Properties: Special, Finesse, Reach (30 ft), Thrown (30/120).
Special:
If the Manaiakalani is gripped with its hook pointing backwards, it does Bludgeoning damage and gains the Versatile (2d8+3) property. Only usable when 5 feet from your target.
If the Manaiakalani is gripped with its hook pointing forwards, it does Piercing damage and the target becomes Grappled on hit. Once you've grappled a target, you may roll an Athletics check (DC 15), on success the grappled target can be pulled 5 x your Strength ability modifier feet closer to you.
Pull up the Land:
Throw the Manaiakalani into a lake or sea and roll an Athletics check (DC 15). On a success, a landmass is pulled up from the body of water. The landmass covers 500 x your Strength modifier square feet of surface and lasts for 24 hours after which it sinks back into the water. If the Manaiakalani is left hooked into the landmass for 24 hours, the landmass becomes permanent.
Mahuika's Fire:
Throw the Manaiakalani into the ground and roll an Arcana check (DC 15). On a success, an eruption of fire and lava is pulled up from the underground. The lava covers a 5 foot area where you threw the Manaiakalani into the ground and the fire covers an area of 5 + your Intelligence modifier feet radius from where you threw the Manaiakalani into the ground.
When the fire and lava appears, each creature within its area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 8d10 fire damage if it is in contact with the lava or 6d8 fire damage if it is in contact with the fire, or half as much damage on a successful save.
Mahuika's Fire sheds bright light in a 50-foot radius and dim light for an additional 100 feet. It has a duration of 8 hours after which the fire promptly vanishes.
If this feature is successfully used a second time within 24 hours, it pulls up 1d20 Fire Giants. The Fire Giants are hostile to you.
Reel in The Sun:
Throw the Manaiakalani towards the Sun and roll an Athletics or an Arcana check (DC 15). On a success, you can pull the Sun along its set path in the sky and, in so doing, change the time of the day.
When the Manaiakalani is pulled free from the Sun, a golden beam of bright light shines down in a 10-foot radius, 1-mile-high cylinder centred on a point within range. Until the Sun sets, light fills the cylinder. When a creature enters the cylinder's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it is engulfed in golden flames that cause searing pain, and it must make a Constitution saving throw. It takes 5d10 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
This feature can be used at any point during the day, 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset. This feature cannot be used during the night. Once you've used this feature once you cannot do so again until the next dawn.
