I don't think it's so much a nostalgia thing, but I would personally get more cultural significance from the old style of videos using the pantheon's music throughout the gameplay and ancient looking art work for the lore. Even if it wasn't always the best edited, there felt like more heart put into introducing the new character to the game.

There is no folklore stories about this witch, she's always a creepy strange neutral witch, that helps the bravest heroes to find their way. Mostly she gives them a ball of thread, that rolls by itself, helping to find what the hero wants to.

Let's be honest CGI trailers are far more expensive and rare so when they finally do one of course they're gonna use it on videos lol. Besides characters added now are based in the smite story lore not just own lore so they're going all in on that angle I guess.
It takes away some of the mysticism of the "god". But then again, it's mostly because of how some of them are voiced. Baba's VO is really rough, sounding like it was done in one take.
Props to HiRez for having over 100 gods in the game and still making really interesting and creative characters. (Kinda sad that Overwatch only has 30 something and the new characters feel like rip offs of older heroes) Edit: Not saying that Smite and OW are the same type of game, just kinda disappointing to see OW dropping the ball on creativity compared to Smite for example.
Ye i understand what you're saying cus i play a decent amount of both games but you cant be too harsh on overwatch cus 1 hero can change an entire meta so needs more time to develop but other than that i agree
it's because Smite's model and stuff are much cheaper and less quality, where as OW models cost more money to make, OW is just a more quality game so harder to make lots of heroes
I picked up the game again after over a year not playing, so I didn't know any of the new gods. I remember I lost sight of Baba for a second and when I looked back she had transformed into a house. It was very startling when she started chasing me.
Very fun, new play-style! Good amount of utility which is always welcome and her stacking ability is very unique. Can't wait to play her, I love all the new ideas added to Smite this year. Keep em coming!

I remember thinking Terra was stage where gods were getting too needlessly complex but now we're at abilities acting like Tetris blocks in both directions and access lol. Great design and kit though, best we've had in a while.

It was an interesting coincidence that, a month or so ago, I was actually looking into the Baba Yaga lore for a short story I'm composing... who knew she was able to come here to Smite, and with her Chicken House nonetheless XD

I really wanna play Smite again... but I can't stop lagging in every game I enter. It's not my internet because all my other online games work perfectly.
The servers also just suck, and with quarantine going on there’s also a large number of players returning to smite or trying it for the first time so the servers are also stressed
I thought I was the only one... Recently lag has been waaay more common and had really made trying to level up the battle pass a real chore since most games stutter
I had this problem for about 2 weeks and come to find out that some how my servers changed from America to another country and that was the reason i was lagging maybe check what servers your on.
Szuna Loneheart Not as bad as a bug I encountered today, Sometimes cancelling your two with an already stored potion glitches your two and making you unable to throw either potion. Completely getting rid of the ability entirely I found no fix throughout the game and went the entire game with only 1 3 and ult

Smite abilities are like [A god] fires a projectile which under [condition 1] does [debuff 1] but if it meets the [requirement 1] it applies a [CC 1] and then when activated again after [ less than 0,7 second] it applies [CC 2] but when it's activated after [more than 1 second] it makes [a god] become untargetable and fly into the air to fire [x] projectiles that deal damage based on [condition 2] [...etc...]

It is the actual lore of baba yaga, slavs simply dodnt have such a concrete lore as some other cultures, her stories are varied and manny, there would be no point in telling any particular one, read it for urself on the internet, they did a good job summarizing it. I, as a slav and as someone who actualy knows the stories have to say, good job Smite! This is actualy a pretty great design. Havent been playing the game for years, but im realy glad they are adding stuff like this, maybe its time for a comeback. :)
Hercule Pyro Baba Yaga have a large and versatile pestle and mortar, since she can use it as a cauldron, a grinding tool, a mount, a staff, and a weapon.
I love Baba Yaga so much can't wait to buy her ! Also hirez pls fix the abysal scorcerer poseidon tidal wave hitbox bug it doesn't hit properly and i feel like i wasted 1000 gems on that skin because i never play that skin anymore! Anyways very cool god
2 Things I noticed. 1. When Baba's in the house, she uses two jutsus at once. Partial Expansion and Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu. 2. The house runs faster than any other God.

It is the actual lore of baba yaga, slavs simply dodnt have such a concrete lore as some other cultures, her stories are varied and manny, there would be no point in telling any particular one, read it for urself on the internet, they did a good job summarizing it. I, as a slav and as someone who actualy knows the stories have to say, good job Smite! This is actualy a pretty great design. Havent been playing the game for years, but im realy glad they are adding stuff like this, maybe its time for a comeback. :)

1. When Baba's in the house, she uses two jutsus at once. Partial Expansion and Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu.

I herd about baba yaga in my music class. We where going to the San Francisco orchestra. The teacher played a sample of one of the songs and the one she played happened to be about baba yaga
Most of my family lived in the Soviet Union and speak Russian, so "Baba Yaga" is a name I am all too familiar with. My grandma would say "they look like Baba Yaga" to call someone ugly. I feel oddly nostalgic for her.
