Charon should have a secondary passive where each time an enemy dies, they lose 2 gold. It would be horribly insignificant, but just imagining someone being 20 gold away from an item and having to wait for it because they died 10 times is the chaotic energy I thrive off of
If each time he killed an enemy, 2 golds would be transferred from the enemy to him I wouldn’t even be mad and I don’t even play as him, it’d be insignificant but so cool at the same time
Exactly, such an unused potential from his lore. He doesnt feel like Charon except for his passive. He is just some boat dude that can summon waves for no reason
He feels so dull and only passive actually makes sense for his lore, other than that he is just some boat dude and thats it. With the same 4 abilities Hi-Rez have been putting out for years. Really dissapointing for such a potential.
Cool, but it would have been nice if he had an ability that gave an ally a ride. Like maybe a dash forward that picks them up, and grants invulnerability, as a rescue tool. Or maybe a passive that allows them to hitch a ride and throw out abilities
There will be so much outrage if they do😭😭already have the people who are like "if Jesus was added to this he would one shot everybody" now let him get added and people will start raging when he doesn't
...I feel like Charon's passive isn't going to survive in its current state for long. Firstly, it only works on friendly and neutral minions; enemies and gods are left totally out of the equation, and while that's fine for the idea that you're only ferrying the souls of friendlies back to base and you can't poach souls from an enemy Charon, it's still a shame that there is no interaction for friendly gods as a possible way for a supporting Charon to mitigate the losses caused by a bad laning partner. Second, while the extra gold is nice, the fact that the maximum number of souls caps at 20 and provides no extra benefits is underwhelming, especially in the end-game when you've probably already gone back to base the 9 or so times it'd take to max out the extra health; eventually that extra gold is just gonna be dead weight. These two factors heavily incentivize Charon to play solo lane or jungle to try and snowball on his farm quickly, but that goes against the design philosophy of a Guardian, which begs the question why he wasn't made a Warrior, Mage, or even an Assassin when his kit seems to be designed for those solitary roles. Presuming that he is still a Support Guardian at his core with a strong ability to solo or jungle, I see two routes to further develop this identity. If they're trying to encourage Charon players to regularly leave lane to return to base and turn in his souls, then he needs a way to return to lane more quickly, like a passive speed buff that decreases as he collects souls; let's say +20% base movement speed, -1% for every soul he is holding. This has benefits regardless of Charon's role in any given match, and even gives a tactical incentive for players to ignore picking up the gold and souls to maintain higher movement speeds, but in his primary role as a support it serves to maximize his lane presence while also giving teammates some time to solo farm during Charon's regular trips back to base. If that is not the case, then Charon needs a reason to stick around beyond a handful of gold each wave, meaning he either needs an added benefit such as being able to regain a small amount of HP or MP for gathering excess souls while at maximum stacks, or he has to offer some kind of benefit to a teammate in lane by collecting these souls in their presence. My proposal in this regard is this; Charon gets 2 gold for every soul he collects, but he will automatically split this bounty with the nearest friendly god within a given range if they are present. Once again, this affords Charon great versatility in any role, but it still incentivizes the core design philosophy of a support that benefits teammates simply by being in close proximity. And it also adds a fun bit of flavor consistent with Charon's lore, as the obol coins that were to be offered to Charon were typically either two coins placed over the eyes of the deceased, or a single coin placed in the mouth; the number, value, placement, and design of the coins varied based on region and time period, so having that be reflected by the conditions of each match would a cute nod to Greek history and culture. Well, those are _my_ personal thoughts anyways. You probably _could_ run these two proposed buffs together to make Charon essentially future-proof, but he would arguably be too strong and reliable. Then again, I subscribe to the 'Make everything equally broken and fun' philosophy of game design and balance, so take these notions how you will.
@@gaaratf2fanboy76 I do actually agree with that particular design decision since Charon's shields scale off his maximum health, so having a passive that slowly increases his health by an appreciable amount over the course of the game, independent of levels or items, is rather nice for a Guardian. My critique was that a permanent +350 HP and +1 GP5 in-lane, while still appreciable, only does so much in the face of late-game burst damage and DPS, and as I said previously, I subscribe to the notion that game balance is at its best and most fun when everything is equally broken and powerful. Having a Guardian like Charon be tanky, fast, getting paid to do it, AND sharing the wealth is just my idealized version of the design philosophy that has been presented to me.
To be honest his passive could be infinite stacks if they reduced it to like .5 or .25 hp per coin with a higher cap on how much he can collect before backing
THEY KILLED IT I can’t wait to play him only thing they will probably half to buff or change is his passive but other than this this one of their best releases by far as a carry and support player I am so stoked rn
This is why I love this game. We're getting gods and other beings that aren't as well recognized or known, such as this badass, and others like Danzaburou, Cliodhna, and Cuculainn.
Was expecting him to either ferry allies or enemies in some way. Kinda disappointed. That ult would be even cooler if it forced Charon to ride it while picking up any ally close to him. Would’ve added another potential troll guardian in the game which is always a huge plus
Just did some jungle testing today after his initial release, and with the right build he might just be one of if not THE fastest god in the game. Swift Focus and Summon Styx both have movement speed buffs that stack on each other (for a maximum of _140%_ built in movement speed steroids), which can be enhanced further with movement speed items. Charon’s Coin + Doom Orb + Relic Dagger + Gem of Focus + Chrono’s Pendant + Magi’s Revenge and any movement boosting relics would pile on the speed, cooldown and CC resistance to close the gap against most anyone. Couple that with his wealth of enemy hindering abilities and Charon could confidently run down almost anyone in the game. Charon can potentially boast consistent bursts speeds of 754 (the usual cap, barring EXTREME circumstances like an 80% CDR movement speed built Chronos) and unlike many gods, Charon can keep it up in normal modes, instead of CDR% upping MOTD’s, which would only make Charon even more consistent. Even in THOSE modes, he has abilities that counter some of the worst the game has to offer, like gods that can nigh-permanently stealth such as Loki, The Morrigan, Izanami, etc…
@@bgf3640I don’t understand why you guys don’t like the kit I love it. My new favorite god I also wish he could carry someone but it’s still really fun riding with the ult with the 3 and speed boosting teammates.

The fact that his ultimate can not *ferry* his teammates around when he is *the* **FERRYMAN** is extremely disappointing. I understand animation difficulties, but here's some ideas: A. Gods at a specific height limit can only ride Charon's boat. Put them in a seating position or something, idk. B. Instead of using each and every gods model, just turn them into glowing blue soul orbs or something who float along the center of the boat. Then when his ultimate duration is up, they return back to their regular model. C: Now this one isnt really being on the boat and is honestly goofy, but Charon turns his allies into his coin and stores them into his pouch. Allies are untargetable and are transported to wherever Charon takes them until the duration is up. Really, these are for the most part goofy since I just woke up... but come on Hi-Rez. Edit: Forget to include that when he activates his ultimate, the boat gets bigger to actually be able to fit teammates. And in all possible ideas^, allies are untargetable until the duration runs out, or Charon presses the button again himself to make teammates get off. Or something.
Honestly, those sound like neat ideas. However, it might be too similar to Horus' ult. If Charon was released prior to Horus, then that likely would have been his ult.
@@calebowens693But Horus is a global teleport. Too many balance issues will occur with ur idea. Untargetable foes that can sweep all ur backline & break defenses & win all fights is bad. And for the one being carried what if the ally has low health & retreating? U would be dooming ur teammates if u messup like ulting into enemy fountain lol.
