@@Joe-hi1zw The mytological story behind this demigod is the britain myths of cavalliers and the round table, that has been interpreted and written about by many writers through history (even Shakespeare). The issue is that this myths and histories have been interpreted with the puritan christian vision because of the attitude that the kings and cavaliers adopted to face their problems, so basically he ain't wrong haha :P

Fate has many kinds of Arthur. Im talking about is Proto Arthur who is a dude and was part of the original concept (hence proto for prototype) before switching the story and characters. Artoria is the name of the female Arthur that is the face of the current fate franchise. Theres also Saber Lily who is the younger version of Artoria, Saber Alter who is a version of Artoria that is corrupted by the holy grail, there is also Lancer Artoria who is an older version of Artoria that is using the lance Rongomyniad and not Excalibur and also an Lancer Alter thats an altered version of Lancer Artoria similar to Saber Alter.

You're intentionally being obtuse trying to prove a point, given your bad comparison. Guan Yu is a god attested in the chinese folklore and the other 3, while not being gods, are deities which people have venerated at a certain point in time. Arthur is a "super star" at best for english literature, and under no circumstance has anything to do with any pantheon. Next thing you know, Chupacabra and Loch Ness' monster will be added to the game, since they are urban legends

I mostly wanna know how they gonna model him.Also his ult could be something like Fenrir's?.
They could also give him some passive that he still does some damage if he dies. I think it would be a good reference to his part in Ragnarok where he is slain by Thor who then succumbs to the serpents venom after taking 9 steps.

I love these kinds of mechanically unique characters in games.
Also, I’d advise ability based items for his majesty. Soul eater, crusher, and gladiator shield together seem good. His ability spam is great for soul eaters life steal, crusher gets activated very often, and the king here is rather manna hungry, especially with full cooldown, so use gladiator shield to see your mana paid back mid fight, plus the health gained helps too.

Giant Dad Do you even play the game lol? There is so many bugs it’s insane. Also Arthur is literally probably the most broken character released so far. Not because he’s super strong, he’s literally just unplayable almost. His abilities and basics are so clunky and Doesn’t show the animations. (Well not including the Morrigan)

when athur is in the present of teammates he should receive physical protection (can stack) when he is alone he receives magical protection

On an unrelated note, now that Merlin and Arthur are being added to the game, I’m kinda wanting to maybe someday see Beowulf and Grendel here...
Edit: Most of the comments are telling me that Fenrir is most definitely a god. Nah, he doesn’t really qualify, but I put him in “arguable” for a reason.
As for the replies saying something along the lines of “At least the ones you listed come from actual mythological pantheons”, Arthur, Merlin, and the stories of Camelot most definitely qualify as myths. They were believed by many to be truth, even if the figures in them were never widely worshipped.
(To be honest, I feel as though they could have been slid into the Celtic pantheon, as the story of Arthur has its roots in Celticism (is that a word?)). Regardless, are you really going to complain about more diversity being added to the game? Complain about things that actually need to be complained about, like imbalance, bugs, and the fact that Loki and Neith have 5k skins.
But do it on the forums and in tickets. I get pissed off when all I see on every Smite video is a wall of comments complaining about bugs that are most likely something wrong with your own set-up. It’s annoying and chases off any potential new players who read them because they (incorrectly) assume that the game is a bug-plagued unplayable mess.

Since his story has him mention Avalar, I hope there are other entities from that.
Also, it would be epic if either christian or lovecraftian legends or the like were added. ...though, I'm guessing it'll take a bit of effort to design a lovecraftian god in such a way that it's a unique individual, since many are beings with multiple body parts often in an amorphous body in most artworks. Would love to see different takes on them that aren't amoeba like.

Arthurs origin is believed to be from Celtic Mythology. Writer after writer doing their own interpretation has eventually christianized Arthur and added parts to his story. Technically the original Arthur would be a totally different person than the one we know. Though even the "modern" Arthur has elements that are not of Christian origin and would even be seen as sinful or heretical. For an example, The Morrigan or as it is known now, Morgan le Fay. The lady of the lake, you know the entity who keepsakes Excalibur.
This means that Arthur could not be part of the Celtic pantheon as this Arthur is based on the one we've grown up with. It could not be of a Christian pantheon as it has elements that are not Christian. Therefore the Arthurian Pantheon. What this means is that we could be seeing some really cool additions to the game. I mean, imagine playing MERLIN! Gooood damn. That would be awesome.
Thank you for pointing this out, he was originally a Welsh char akin to a god in fact, there were many references to him relating to the God KIng Arawn.
The thing is Arthur got hit by story nerf, when from god to the biggest baddass ever to being a king with a cool sword (damn you self insert OC Lancelot).
I think aurther works I mean the sword was supposedly created by the Christan good in some versions and he did go after the Holly grail so you could argue he is a holy warrior fighting on behalf of a good much like some of the other champions so I think it works.
So during the final follow-up the narrator refers to arthurs alt as excaliburs wrath, but the first display showed that it was called excaliburs fury?
So Arthur is basically Yasuo from League of Legends.

04:48 Excalibur's Fury - This how Arthur's ultimate is called, at least the strong version.
But then at 06:04 we can hear the narrator say "Excalibur's Wrath" while showing the combo. Then we can hear "Excalibur's Wrath" again at 06:10, in the same segment.

Arthur needs a better title. "Wielder of Excalibur?" Too generic. I prefer the title given to him in the book: "The once and future king."
Think what you want of Arthur and merlin being added. But I think smite should put a little more time in the pantheons they already have. Both baron and pele are allone in their pantheon. And I wonder what characters could be added to the Arthurian pantheon once Merlin has been added. Just more knights? That seems a bit boring.

I think the point is to add characters who'd be fun or interesting to the game. It's silly for them not to do what they want just for some perceived idea that the Pantheons need to be filled out.
on a side note in case they don't mention it in the reveal all of king arthurs abilities are on quick cast at all times

1) not being a god is not a valid argument, simply because there's non gods in the game already (Da Ji, Arachne, Rat, etc)
2) He has many connections to the Celtic mythology, heck in some versions Morgana is basically the same person of The Morrigan (a celtic goddess)
3) Guan Yu may be a deity, but his lore is more history and literature than actual mythology.
Da Ji, same...she was not even deified, but her story is actually an old legend/tale. It's more folklore/tales than.actual mythology.
She's also an historical figure as well.
Kuzenbo also is a yokai, not a kami. The king of kappa, creatures from Japanese folklore.
So you can't argue that Arthur can't be in the game because he's from literature/legends, because Guan Yu, Da Ji, Kuzenbo are too. And they're in the game.
He has not only support in Celtic Mythology, but in the Matter of Britain too, cause of this he has his own pantheon
Still, those were part of a real pantheon. People believed in them, feared them, were in the lore of gods they worshipped, killed by the gods, cursed by the gods, etc... what is ‘arthurian’ and where can i find their followers in history? This is what they all meant when they say KING ARTHUR IS NOT A GOD.
And im sure many wouldnt mind if he were to be in celtic instead of a new made up religion while there are 3 unfilled pantheons

If you think about the fact that Morgana, which is Arthur's sister, is either strictly connected to The Morrigan or is basically her in some versions, then it's not much different.
The choice of having them into a separate pantheon was explained.
It's specifically a design choice, they didn't want to be limited to a certain design on the Arthurian characters. And if they were in the Celtic pantheon they would've been too stricted, due to having to adapt them to a certain design.
With dedicating a whole pantheon to them they are free to explore more unique designs for the characters.
It's purely an artistic choice.
Except they completely and openly ignore the connection to mythology. He does not make sense for SMITE. Do we get bloody Mary and slenderman next now?
Change the sentence to "Arthurian pantheon is not a real pantheon", that's the real deal.
What's the point of adding a pantheon that has literally no gods? No, lady of the lake is not a deity, neither Morgan le Fey, Merlin, green knight etc. Nobody worshiped them, like every single charachter in the book. The fact that Morgan Le Fey is based on the Moriggan, doesn't make the things better.
So since Hi-Rez start being desperate for characters and that they slowly run out of gods, here‘s my wish for mortal characters in the game:
- *Musashi Miyamoto: the grand master of Swords*
He was the greatest Swordsman who has ever lived, who created the legendary 2 sword style and who never lost a battle. He was the first Warrior who ditched his Armor going into a battlefield, because he prefered speed and agility over Protection.
You could have him be a physical Assassin. His Abilities could revolve around him having a lot of area control. He could have slashes and jumps that makes him quickly go from one place to the other, so that the enemy is going to have a hard time hitting or skillshooting him. His his auto attacks should be his main focus and his abilities just help him to easier dodge attacks. His Ult could be that he creates a Circle that he stands in (kinda like Odin‘s ult, just without the barrier) and for every enemy god in that circle will lose a lot of Movement speed and Musashi would gain extra damage, attack and movement speed for every god in the circle, but Musashi must also stay in the circle.

I seriousley have no idea who really Lancelot is. I know he is in the same time as Arthur, so i guess if you include one, you could include the other.
You could have him be a Knight on a Horse (like Chiron) and with a Shield and a Lance. I guess he could be a Physical Warrior.
- *Robin Hood, the King of Thieves*
Robin Hood was a master Thief that stole from the rich and gave it to the poor while also being an unrivaled Archer. He represented hope for the common folk and his speeches gave his people strengh.
Now, i‘m gonna be bold with him here and say he should be a Bow Wielding Support. His Abilities should revolve around him stealing from the enemy and giving it to his Team mates. For instance, one of his Abilities can steal Health from the enemy, and than can give that Health to his fellow Gods. And you could choose to either steal Health or Mana. Now Robin Hood would have a time spam of 5 seconds (more secs if he upgrades it) after he hit his ability, to than aim to his partner and skillshot him, so that he would recieve the Mana or Health. If he doesn‘t shoot in those 5 seconds, the Health and Mana would go to himself. Also, his passive could be that every time he hits a champion with that, he steals up to 5% of gold the enemy has on them. His other 2 abilities could be that one is a „Hope speech“ where it randomized hives some special effect to fellow gods in the Areas such as increased speed, low health or mama recovery, attack boost or etc. and Key word being *Random.* His third ability could be that he shoots a rope that slows Gods. And if he hits 2 gods with the ability within a 3 sec timespan (he can shoot it twice) than the 2 gods would be pulled together. His Ult could be that shoots arrows in the Sky and than they fall to the ground. There would be around 7 Arrows that gods can pick up. If an ally picks up an Arrow, they would gain massie boots like Defense, Strengh or Speed. If Enemies would accidently pick up or step on an Arrow, they would massively get a decrase in like either Strengh, Defense or speed.
Those are the mortals i would really wish to be in SMITE.
Meh Gawain would be better or especially Mordered. Lancelot is meh in legends.
