Must be nostalgia, but there's something very special about those old models. This video was like a mid 90s White Dwarf come to life. Excellent work all round.
GW was already getting started in their tradition of loading up with special rules on top of special rules. At least this battle has no special characters.
@@InquisitorTyrus I think early GW had an expectation that players would have gentlemen's agreements and make up the game they liked. One of my favourite passages in 1e WFRP is a rules section in Apocrypha Now about converting your RPG characters to battlefield models and back. And they outright state that the system taken literally can add rounding errors on rounding errors and should not be used as written.
I always struggle to concentrate on battle reports. They have a tendency of being kinda boring but yours are easy to follow and lots of fun to see. Great work!
Same here. These are the best battle reports out there! They’re the right length, they’re exciting, and they skip all the banter and get right to the action.
Being like, 3 v 5 units helps with clarity a lot I feel. Modern 40k is huge, and while I enjoy playing a big army, I get lost trying to follow 2 massive armies and what they are trying to do. Simpler is better!
If you are after enthusiastic battle reports bristling with narrative I’d suggest taking a look at Rogue Element Gaming, which focuses on 6th ed Fantasy but also dips into Necromunda. It too has an almost white dwarf golden era feel.
I am so glad you're covering Warhammer 40K 2nd edition. I personally feel that it was the best Edition, yes it maybe clunky compared to the newer additions, but I love the smaller scale and more personal level to the combat. I have never gotten rid of my second edition along with all of my supplements. Not only because they were the best games that I and my light Brother played, but they were the most enjoyable games I've ever played. Thank you so much for the Memories and keep up the good work. Cheers
This is so fantastic, well done. The filming, editing, voice work, models, terrain... Just increadble. I'm going to enjoy this while it's pure and before you blow up.
Love the story narration, and the bright 90s style Blood Angels. Especially as I played them in 2nd. (Yeah, I had 4 armies and 3 of them were Space Marines. These guys were some of my favorite, though. Especially veteran assault squads. I had half the veteran company plus support.)
Lovely looking armies, nice rich red Blood Angels armour and vintage Orks showing off how well they look with some TLC. Enjoyed this timewarp batrep and the sneaky peek at the end .. mmm more shiny toys, great!
Ok, first thing, I am an old timer, I started playing WK40K just before the release of the 2nd ED box set and I still prefer the 2nd ED to any of the following editions. Second, my sons got into playing WH40K in the middle of Covid as the world was all getting cabin fever. My youngest saw and asked about my boxes on the top shelf of the closet that absolutely no one was allowed to even look at let alone touch. Now as we play a game at least once a month and they are able to play games without me, my oldest came across your channel and told me about it. I as the old wise man, said yes, an excellent channel fulled with the grandeur that is WH40K! I rewatched this particular battle report with them and one of my sons in a joking matter that is so much a part of the game, as far as it was back in my day, he said and I quote..... "He should repaint those Blood Angels to make them Lamenters with their luck and all!" I could not stop myself from laughing. Thank you for going back in time to show the world how amazing 2nd edition was and still is, you have 4 fans in us, so long as you continue to do the Emperor's work.🤣👍
I must say these Battlereports are the best I've seen this far on TH-cam. The editing, painting and landscape are marvellous! Keep it up guys, you're doing a great job. :)
My intro to 40k was the Second Edition starter set, and I never knew there was a fourth mission to the Armageddon Campaign! Ed, everything about these videos is inspirational. I love your painting and modelling. The bunkers look terrific!
I watch a lot of 40K 2nd ed content on TH-cam. Whilst I understand this is a small scale game, I must say I am very impressed with the way it is presented. Thank you very much for sharing and I hope to be able to watch more of your videos as a result :-)
More 2nd Edition cinematic batreps? Amazing stuff! Seeing "the classics" alive and kicking again is such a buzz, especially when it's this well presented. 😊 This said, I'm afraid it does make my eye twitch to see the ruins at a diagonal angle to - and often intersecting - the roads on the gaming board. 😅 I appreciate this is probably for the sake of adhering to mission rules and ensuring fair play, but seeing a future batrep where the ruins "fit" the road layout would add to the immersion, and take this from a 9/10 to an easy 10/10!
An amazing battle report, quick and punchy with a real back and forth. The marines put such a good fight up and really seemed to be blunting the Ork offence at the start, it could’ve gone either way and that’s great, nothing worse than a 1 sided battle report
What an amazing conclusion to the Armageddon series! Love the battle bunkers too they are brilliant. Looking forward to all the new models joining the armies too!
Another amazing batrep for 2nd ed! Seriously loving these, they are my favorite 40k bat reps right now. This ed is such a slog to play especially with no experience in it just judging by the rules but in a video its super fun to see. Each model and unit doing so much with so little. Really makes everything feel more intense.
Great game! Awesome looking forces! I'm hoping to see the Orks field a shokk attack gun or a Bubble-Chucka in the future. Also looking forward to seeing the custom Land Speeder screaming into battle.
Love these battle reports. Great balance between rules details, narrative elements, and not getting bogged down in every step-by-step action. Plus great production value!
I've watched a number of groups playing 40k, from many editions, but yours are by far the most fun, entertaining, and surprisingly educational. Keep it up! Cant wait for the next one.
Another great battle report! So much fun to watch before I head off to work. Thank you! I can't wait to see the bigger clashes with all the add-ons to both armies. I saw that Ork in Mega-armor! Keep up the great work. :)
Fantastic battle report. Loved the desperate defense of the Space Marines in their bunkers, and the desperate push of the Orks amid the ruins. I scratch built my own bunker a while back in the traditional style. But I was dissatisfied with the paint job, and so primed over it. It's sitting in my terrain box, incomplete, even now. I should give it another go at some point. My battlefields could use a bunker.
I hadnt heard of you until you showed up on tabletop tactics, but here i am having watched every one of your videos, you do great work and I've enjoyed every last one of them, keep it up ^^
Excited for the next one. As someone who started playing in third edition I appreciate the more narrative style battle report. 2nd edition rules are slightly confusing to me
I started playing the 10th edition and it is my first time playing warhammer 40k, but dude those older models look so awesome and clean and having that kinda classic feeling to them.... I am so frustrated I did not discover this universe and the hobby earlier.
Must be nostalgia, but there's something very special about those old models. This video was like a mid 90s White Dwarf come to life. Excellent work all round.
This is way more fun to watch than the bloated stratagem battles of today.
I spend 2 CP to undo your comment and use my Staff Sergeants left shoes ability to insult your mum!!!!
I can say with 100% certainty that 2e was more fun to play as well.
GW was already getting started in their tradition of loading up with special rules on top of special rules. At least this battle has no special characters.

Love the blood Angels btw

I'm really loving all these oldhammer battle reports. Keep em coming!
The battle for Armageddon rages on, but the Imperial guard should also make an appearance at some point :)
That would be awesome!
Do you think you'll ever have a battle report where a Lascannon actually kills something?
Lascannons are the ultimTe trap. Both me and my brother never use lascannons because, over all these years, they NEVER worked.
@@ThatWildcard Guard player here. Can confirm
Don't think I ever had one do anything!
Assault Cannon solves all problems

The key second was that warcraft and star craft hadn't been invented yet.. we still had standards.😂
What a fantastic battle report! The miniatures are super painted and the narration puts in the atmosphere of war... on the table! ❤
Best battle report channel on youtube no contest
I recognise that music! I've missed your last couple of uploads. But loving that Blood Angels force. Blue head BA vets were my first love 💙❤
2e truly is the best of 40k. Nothing beats the vibrant Warhammer 40,000 logo, and the deep 90s design of the minis.
The best way to present battle report on utube !
This might be my new favorite TH-cam channel/series. Bravo, tremendous work.
I am very exited for more battle reports with these old miniatures
Lets get another video out, bud!! You're videos are so quality, I demand more!!! please....
Merci pour ce rapport de bataille! Je me souviens , il y a presque trente ans déjà, de ma défaite face aux Goffs sur ce scénario! Nostalgie... Encore!
This is so fantastic, well done. The filming, editing, voice work, models, terrain... Just increadble. I'm going to enjoy this while it's pure and before you blow up.
Yeeeeessssss more!! 😄 Such joy to see another video!
Love the little briefing bits at the start and the great editing from beginning to end.
I love the voice over, it’s like Garth Marengi is doing a battle report from my childhood :)
I knew reading Terrordome would bleed into my subconscious.
The orcs look over the parapet and saw blood angels....blood angels...red shining blood angels...and bits of guardsmen.
Love the story narration, and the bright 90s style Blood Angels. Especially as I played them in 2nd. (Yeah, I had 4 armies and 3 of them were Space Marines. These guys were some of my favorite, though. Especially veteran assault squads. I had half the veteran company plus support.)
I love the old 2e cardboard ruins glued on to foam.
Great video! The editing is fantastic! Thanks

A comment and like for the WAAAAHGorithim.
The nostalgia from the Final Liberation soundtrack in the background hit hard
These are so good! Those old models are glorious. Makes me relive my childhood with my best mate. We started with the 2nd ed box too! Keep em coming!
Another great battle report! Hope the next one has more footage of the cute cat at the end!
Possibly the best battle reports in the business.
Great music, great visuals, excellent editing - such a treat these battle reports - very well done! More, more! :D
Absolutely insane quality! I've been binging your videos all weekend, this channel is such a great find!

Just lovely! This is pure gold! I love the presentation and the models. Thank you, all the best.

Absolutely awesome, excited for the next videos
Excellent bat rep, great story telling and no over hyping nonsense
I really hope you keep up all this great 2ed content. It’s immediately become my favorite channel.
I'm just in the process of filming the next video! Thanks so much for your support and kind words. 🙂
I do love these reports, takes me right back to when I started myself. I didn't think squads could split fire back then though.
Thanks so much! I'm pretty sure targeting vehicles is the exception to the splitting fire rule. I'll have a check before I film the next batrep.
Best battle reports on TH-cam. Begging you to make more! Perhaps some imperial guard?
Brilliant Battle Report! Had me totally enthralled
Love this - particularly that it has been so well edited down to the 15/20min mark
This is so well made, instant sub. Well done guys
Cheers! Welcome to the party pal!
Fantastic battle report. Looking forward t seeing the armies grow and the battle reports to come. Nice little teaser in the background too.
Absolutley loved it. Everything looked amazing and the presentation was just awesome. Hope Eldar feature as an army at some point!
Absolutely wonderful battle reports. Keep them up!

Cracking good report as always and a long-awaited victory for da green boyz.

amazing video can't wait for more battle reports especially if you ever get the chance to field Arbites.
I would love to. One day.
Oh hell yes! More 2nd edition!
Perfect timing! My pizza just arrived!
Excited for the next one. As someone who started playing in third edition I appreciate the more narrative style battle report. 2nd edition rules are slightly confusing to me
rest assured, they were confusing to everyone
I really enjoyed this!

Great vidéo, thanks
Awesome video cheers chaps. Cant wait to see more.

I'd like to see Orks vs 'Nids too. 🙂
Love this stuff, keep it coming!
So much nostalgia, 2nd edition was the first box set I ever got.
These battle reports are so good.
I've never seen those old plastic monopose models painted so well, they don't even look that bad when they're painted up like that!
Awesome battle report. Keep it up.
