    • @PeterChomanic
      @PeterChomanic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm surprised over his reaction on ECON on the climate control. It's fairly usual thing, that basically means the A/C compressor is turned off, but all the rest is on = blowing air to the spots you have set and the fan speed remains the same, etc. the AC just is not belt-drien then, means you actually save fuel. Thus, ECON.

      It's actually the same size. Four door configurations now are almost the exact same as 80s-90s two door configurations. Add 1 foot to each front foot of this RAV4, and then suddenly it looks like an explorer sport. It's smaller than you think, and for you to actually refer to this suv as 'huge' is laughable. We're you alive during the 2000s? When the first excursion was considered "mid-sized"? This IS a compact suv and you'd be shocked to see it's barley bigger than the old ones. The ride hight doesn't count, as almost all new cars sit insanely high

    The moment I test drove the Rav4 I was sold, the amount of safety kit you get in even the base model just can't be beat and with a little 1 year old that was at the top of my must-have's. It also ticket the great boot space box which anyone who has a big pram will know is important if you don't want to be playing Tetris every time you go shopping.
    P.S. That rubber flooring in the boot actually flips and it is carpeted on the other side so you can choose rubber or carpet.

      Yeah they’re pretty fugly. That and the plastic trim look awful, IMO the outside of a vehicle, everything should be either paint matched, 2-toned, or chrome. No bare plastic it looks like shit. I currently drive an 07 RAV4 Limited V6. My friends have told me I get more "utility" out of an SUV than anyone else they know. Huge bike rack on the back, two kayak racks on top, which also double as lumber carriers for home projects. I took out the 3rd row seats and put containers in the floor wells that hold a ton of stuff. Then I cut a piece of plywood and covered it in rubber flooring as a rear deck, which allows me to carry even more stuff. And the V6 RAV is insanely powerful for a mid-size crossover. It's fun to pull up next to Porsche Cayennes and blow their doors off.
      I have no interest in the current RAV4. At 200hp, it's bringing nothing special to the table. And it looks exactly like every other mid-size crossover on the market today. I can't believe Doug said it looks "less generic" than the previous generations. With it's high rear roofline and the rear-mounted space, you could identify a 3rd gen RAV from a mile away. Every mid-size crossover today looks the same. The only thing they did for the 5th gen RAV was square every curve off, trying to make it look more masculine.

It's just filled in with body filter to hide the spot welded joints. I remember one time restoring a old 73 Monte Carlo and the owner wanted to delete the vinyl top and underneath was a sloppy body filler job which you wouldn't know with the vinyl top on. But this obvious bisected roof is a good and cost effective way to hide the roof and quarter panel joint. It could even save money on body repairs.

    The roof rail and body side are still all one piece. Now with and indentation for the small black out panel in the c-pillar. They do this to add the option of a differnet colour roof. This is a good upgrade to charge for and an easy way to highlight spec upgrades.

      Look into sedans, crossovers are more expensive, cannot go offroad, and are mostly still front wheel drive, just like sedans. However, sedans are cheaper, better built, faster, better handling, more fuel efficient, and stand out more than the crossovers every suburban mom buys. Sedans are better in nearly every way, don't waste your money.

      Crossovers are alright family vehicles, but if you want something with good cargo space and decent handling a hatchback or wagon are good choices, too. They also usually get better mileage and are cheaper to own in the long run. AWD crossovers are handy if you don't have many paved roads where you live, though.
