I don't care if the carpets don't fit, I don't care if you can see the foam when you fold the seats, I don't care if the screws aren't hidden. And hell, the aux port is a bonus if you ask me.

As a poor college student, I love my mirage. It’s gets me from point A to B with no issues and great gas mileage. They all come with a warranty and are great for maneuvering in cities. It may not be a Mercedes but it gets the job done on a budget👍. (Especially if you’re in college and just need a reliable car). The manual version is better as well in my opinion. Since the majority of the people use their car to commute to work and rush hour in Germany at least, is stop and go in traffic jams, all you are gonna care about is A/C and good mpg.
I had an old 60hp 206 (the one from NFS Underground 2) and that car was so much fun to drive, especially during traffic. I could redline that shitbox and yet I wouldn't be speeding. Throwing it around corners on b roads was also incredibly fun due to its light weight.

The stick shift version really does seem to be faster than the automatic, only because you can control what happens with the car. The shifter version has its own "quirks" that you can learn to work with and get some proper speed out of. Still, not incredibly quick but living in a country where you are mostly in dense traffic or even jams there is no point to driving so accelerated unless you're only on the road in the middle of the night. I think what it's missing is exactly what makes it a fun car; you just can't worry about it :D

Thank you for bringing those cosmetic issues but with all due respect I can’t care less about the issues you mentioned. However these issues don’t even exist in models 2019 and newer.
I am NOT a showman or a TH-camr but as a real engineer with a real degree and real mechanical experience, I would say if mirage is not the most reliable car in this price range, it sure is one of the best. So, the manufacturer doesn’t need to pay TH-camrs to advertise for their products.
The mpg of Mirage is better than many hybrid cars out there without short lasting batteries and hybrid issues, it has 10 year 100k miles warranty and it simply never dies. I think those things just do matter for a car in this price range. Mirage is proved to last more than 400k miles unlike many other cars. If you like cars with luxurious accessories please spend at least 60k to buy Mercedes or BMW and spend other thousands of dollars each year for the maintenance and good luck reaching to even 100k miles.

His attitude regarding the vehicle and it's utility is very pretentious in my opinion. I've never seen somebody so disconnected that they would think a brand new car that poor people can afford and reliably travel from point a to point b would be considered to be essentially garbage and useless.
Only someone who's driven nothing but Lexus and Mercedes would tell a poor demographic that they choice of vehicles suck and that they're not even much better than a go-kart. Hell in some counties go-karts are converted into road legal vehicles because they couldn't afford a car at all.
"This road legal go-kart is absolutely atrocious. It has no air conditioning, it has a rough ride, and it's very hard on the eyes."
All I hear is a pretentious attitude talking down to the peasants who can only afford vehicles like these and actually enjoy them.

The whole idea behind Turo seems to be to rent unusual/less common rental cars to people who either want to rent something different or just try out different cars for a while without the commitment of buying. I imagine that some people will rent this car from Turo just to see if it really is a total crap car even at $10,000 or whether it's actually a better then expected value at $10,000. Hell, I know people who would jump at the chance to drive an old Yugo or Trabant, both very crappy Eastern European/communist bloc cars from the 80's (or earlier in the case of the Trabant) just to experience for themselves how bad it really was (sort of like watching a so-bad-it's-good movie).

As someone who loves car history, it’s very interesting going back on a video I loved years ago- seeing how overtly harsh Doug was on this one.
This car has lineage that can be tracked all the way back to the 1960 Mitsubishi Colt 500. The very first car introduced post WW2 that they released. Introducing them BACK into the global market. It’s what kept Mitsubishi alive for us to see the 1970’s Galant GTO, the 90’s Gt3000 sleeper, the evo, the pajero…. It started with this.
I’m actively looking to sell my current car to purchase the new Mirage Ralliart for that very reason. So for what it’s worth, I don’t imagine many eyes on this. Just a fun… thing I guess about the Mirage we know here in the States.

So far I’ve driven the car thru 3 snow storms, I’ve gone thru a TERRIBLE rain storm where I couldn’t see , and I bought it in Texas and I drove it back home to NYC after 40,000 miles. I’m at 75,000 mi right now In 2021 and I’ve never had an issue with it, drives like a workhorse. Haven’t changed anything internally. No coil pack change only spark plugs. If you look on the Mirage forums, these cars are running to 300,000 mi. With no problems. This is a cheap made car but it is reliable if anything. And the sound system in the 2018 base model slaps. All around great first car , not fast but reliable . In the snow although it is better to have all wheel drive, the front wheel drive comes in handy . Everything in the video is accurate, just thought I’d give more insight.

I have the 5speed MT version of this car. really satisfying to drive and the seats are very comfortable. I also accidentally hit a curb in this thing and bent both my rims. I bent them back into place and everything was fine. the suspension is super soft and handles bumpy roads/potholes like a champ

it's 100% a car you buy just to get from point A to point B with no issues. it's not a car you impress your friends with.

For such a cheap car, I’ve gotten 146k trouble free miles from my 2015 Mirage ES with nothing but regular maintenance. It’s cheap and sounds like shit, but as long as it keeps going I’m happy.

Our 2015 Spacestar ( Mirage ) has 110000 km on the clock and the motor runs fine but there is a hole in the floor on the drivers side which come from wear. So for anybody driving a spacestar/mirage i suggest installing thick rubber matts. Our model has good functioning bluetooth and speakers and although its a bit loud on the highway theres some of the issues he points out we dont recognize. Anyway as long as you maintain the veichle the motor will run fine.

My mother got a Pontiac wave (similar is a mirage) in 2008 and besides a couple relatively small fixes (150k km I think) the car was awesome. Started on fire when we hit a deer though 🤔

This is a great starter car for someone who needs something affordable and new. I was driving a junker but couldnt afford much and with having a new baby i needed something new and reliable. Almost 3 yrs later and the only thing ive had to change was serpentine belt. The car is slow, and the interior is less fancy but it is GREAT on gas. Its only a 3 cylinder so what does that mean? Less engine stuff to break. Repairs are affordable. The 2019 looks much different. I have black alloy rims, camera, touch screen. The back seats fold back giving alot of cargo space. At a quarter of the price as other cars. It is a great starter car to finance and build credit.

Outer Styling I give the mirage a solid 8.5/10 it’s cute with a rally inspired body and spoiler, powertrain when speaking from the spectrum of what it is 8/10 you’re not losing grip and it gets going, Super easy to understand mechanically, i like it, very good first car or work car. interior styling is a 8/10, practical, with a mix of nostalgia and fun, super easy to dig into; the kind of car you’d see with +200k miles and ripped BARE at a junkyard, cus they’re just so easy to get what you need. I wanna see if there are aftermarket performance bits for this thing it’d be dope af

The Mitsubishi dealer near me is selling these for 7,999 before tax tag and title. For a brand new car, that gives many people the opportunity to get out of a beater or actually own a vehicle.

I drove a 2014 Mirage for about a year and a half. Got it for a great price from a family friend who’s dad it belonged to. After he passed away it was left sitting in her driveway and she just wanted it gone. It was the BASE model so no power locks, ac, or back-up camera. It even had ROLL DOWN windows for the back seats. Had numerous problems even though it had only about 32k miles. Only good thing about it was the fuel economy. I can’t believe they still make cars like this.
