Great video. Spot on with your points. I happen to own both of these cars and I have a love/hate thing with the Sienna. Lots to love - the room, the good gas mileage, the utility and the ability to have a much easier way to travel long distances. That being said, it's not fully electric and I hate having to keep a gas car. My wife drives the Sienna and doesn't have the patience that I have for charging and increased time for road trips.

I can relate a lot to what is said in this video. I owned 2019 Toyota Sienna AWD for 4 years and because of gas prices and mostly local commutes i was in market for Hybrid Sienna. Went to Toyota Dealer locally to test drive Toyota Sienna 2023 XLE (Hybrid).
Here is my experience. I was told
    1. Firstly that there is no Toyota Sienna 2023 on the lot that i can test drive!
    2. I was told there is a waiting list and 6 to 9 months wait time before delivery.
    3. That there are 35 people ahead of me on the wait list.
    4. That i have to deposit $1000 to be on the wait list.
    5. That i have to pay $2500 as dealer markup over the MSRP because of demand/supply.
    Horrible experience!
Went to Tesla shop on June 2nd, test drove model Y right there and loved it. Ordered online on June 4th.
Took the delivery of Model Y LR 2023 after 21 days and absolutely no regrets. Best decision i have made!

I am in the same place as you right now. horrible gas prices so looking at a Sienna for the Hybrid. but the Dealership experiences, markups, and the wait times are really pushing me away from it now. the only thing still making me think between the Model Y and the Sienna is the space would be nice and if we have a 2nd baby or even 3rd later (who knows) having the Sienna for that future proofing would be nice. if not for the space There's no competition the Teslas are the best buying experience you can ever have with a vehicle.
Hopefully other manufacturers follow and delete this stupid dealership gang from the picture or atleast set them to follow some rules.

Love my sienna! 18 gallons of 87 octane for 600 miles. She rides nice and it is super easy to mirror your phone to infotainment. I have 5 kids so the sienna is for me big time. Platinum! Nothing beats the heated recliners with ottoman after a rainy soccer game!

    Please read- honest review:
I have been a Toyota Fan for about 9 years and i never drove any other brand.
2023- Bought Tesla Model Y LR by trading in my beautiful Highlander. I was excited for the Tesla. Sold Tesla in just 2 months. I’ll tell you why?
    Pros: Fast and frunk space.
    Cons:
    - I never got more than 150miles (mostly ~110-120 miles with 100% charge)over full charge( thought my car may have an issue but it was perfectly Good upon service ).330 miles may be in dreams of Elon. Service said i have to drive slow in order to achieve upto 250+ miles lol.
    - So uncomfortable, seats are tiny shit.
    - Panaromic Roof will cause you sunstroke during summer no matter how high u run the AC.
    - AC is a joke in Tesla ( My 2006 corolla used to blow better chill air)
    - This car battery drains like hell if u park in hot temperature(even when u park and car is off) to protect the cabin seats.
    - Full charge( DC) will take upto 50 mins.
    - People living in Apts please don’t even think of buying.Stay away.
    - Under heavy water flow on the road, you trunk storage(underneath) will suck the water and can spoil your belongings- it works as a sponge.
    - Autopilot (cruise control) will give u hard time running the wipers always if your windshield has stains or water marks or fallen glue parked under the tree.
-if u have a baby and a car seat is attached behind passenger or driver, don’t even think of stretching your legs, u wont get enough space with car seat.
I sold this shit and bought my Toyota back. A sienna hybrid 2023 with 1 child and we are 3 elder at home. Can’t explain you how much relaxed i am. Getting 596 miles for just 1 fill up($60),
    - automatic sliding doors in the narrow parking, good for kids and elderly and long drives are cool and fill up takes 5 mins.Oh my god the most important comfort and rooooommmmmyyyyy. I love my Sienna. But paid extra 7k over sticker price but no issues, hearty happy. Thank god got rid of this electric toy.Huh! TH-camrs stop promoting this toys and don’t misguide ppl.
If u r still thinking to buy Tesla with a mindset( no oil change, cheap to charge, money saver, no emission, silent car, fast, secure etc etc)as i had before buying, then u will regret as well.

100% agreed. Buying the tesla was probably one of my biggest regrets. I have to charge every other day and it drains battery even when not using (although maybe because of Sentry mode).

I own a 2024 Y LR. I have none of these issues. I get 250 miles from 5-80% and don't lose any range. That's on the AWD and 20in wheels.
Not sure what you two are doing but dang... the y is absolutely fantastic.

    • @Nazz-b7p
      @Nazz-b7p 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Um you charge from home while sleeping. The at home cost is .025 cents per mile vs the superchargers .086. Hybrids are.. about 9 cents.
We went from two gas cars (08 sienna, 24 hybrid corolla and their gas 1k month between all) to under $450 (minus expenses for ice vehicles etc, this includes the tesla monthly). For us, best choice we could have made.

It's not a bad comparison. Even though the video favors the Tesla Y, I prefer the Sienna Hybrid AWD. I was in a Tesla Model Y. I wouldn't pay 54k for it. Sienna offers more. Yep, tell me, someone who wants to transport something large or more luggage, goes on a road trip and doesn't want to worry about charging... let them choose the Sienna. How do you compare used car prices... The Sienna holds its value better.

This. My model x was $120k, just sold it recently for only $30k. Its one of the worst investments as everything started to break after warranty expired. The electricity cost in California is very high now (.40-.46cent) which makes the hybrid Sienna a better cost saving move. Love love love my new 2024 Sienna.

@@John-en2oq I live here in San Diego, and I was looking at the Tesla versus Toyota, and it makes more sense just to go gas compared to EV car. Plus the Tesla supercharger infrastructure is not there yet going on long road trips. Toyota sienna will go 600 miles on one tank of gas, compared to charging up multiple times with a Tesla. The charging efficiency is just not there.

Plus i love the stow and go factor of minivans for picking up large objects. If you're the driver, the Model Y is definitely better: acceleration, steering, user interface are better.
If you're the passenger, the Sienna is definitely better: much more room to spread out on long road trips, ride comfort is second to none, ingress/egress is the best
If you have children that ride in booster seats the safety of both are about the same. Model Y wins in lower rollover risk, the Sienna has a lot more space for body intrusion
If you have older children or adults riding in the back the Model Y has much better safety restraint systems as the middle/back seatbelts in all current minivans are outdated
If you use the vehicle for any kind of utility (moving stuff) the minivan is superior to everything. It can haul sod, move 4x8 plywood sheets and a king size mattress on the roof.
Even with Toyota's famed reliability the Model Y will be cheaper to operate and be more reliable in the long run.
I have a Model X and a Honda Odyssey. I was looking for another minivan but Toyota's and Honda's refusal to do electrification led me to buy my Model X and it has been my most reliable vehicle ever purchased in 3+ decades - even with the annoying Falcon doors.
If you have babies or road trip a lot just get a minivan, otherwise the Model Y is all around better.

I've been a Toyota fan for life and owned a 21 Hybrid RAV4 (with the same powertrain) as well. (And a 22 Tundra, and 3 other V6 Siennas). The Rav4 has the same powertrain as the Sienna and was decent on acceleration somewhat fun to drive, would run in EV mode regularly and I could get the EPA 40 mpg without too much effort. But the Rav was too small for the family so we went for the Hybrid Sienna..... unacceptable performance! Unsafe as you say. It could barely get out of its own way, would rarely accelerate on electric only, gas motor kicked in almost every time we accelerated. I averaged only 26 mpg over the 6 months we owned it. (10 less than EPA). Well Tesla offers me 49k for a van I paid 44k for. And Elon drops the MY price 9k in a year and Uncle Joe brings back the $7500 = MY LR for 5K LESS than the Sienna trade in! Best car ever. Now we are looking to get a M3, because my wife has decided she likes the Y and it's hers now :)
If you want to do a comparison with an Powerboost F150 Hybrid let me know! I can charge the Tesla with the trucks built-in generator.

You pay over the sticker on the Sienna bc of the greedy dealers. If you lucky to buy one from a Toyota superstore they can sell at MSRP.

The one thing with Tesla, and with a lot of ev cars, is the infrastructure is still just not there, especially when you want to go on long trips. It’s hit and miss, especially if a lot of the chargers stations, that are not Tesla.

    Hilarious the yelling test!
Whoever makes the first EV minivan is going to clean up - big market! The minivan shape is already pretty aerodynamic, and nobody expects a minivan to handle well, so the weight of a big battery won’t be much of a problem. And the EV powertrain will solve the most annoying things about the minivan - the lackluster power and droning noise.

For people who worried about the Tesla battery, My 2018 Model 3, with 140k miles has no issues and about 10% battery degradation. Even if I were to replace the battery, the savings from these past 5 years will offset the cost of the new battery. I now have a Model Y as well and not going back to ICE cars. Tesla's charging infrastructure makes roadtrips pleasant.
I truly hope Tesla will come up with a Minivan, but for now, our Model Y will suffice.

That's not the latest infotainment from Toyota, What you find in the latest Prius, Crown, or new Lexus RX is a lot better. The ride quality is much better in the Toyota, no matter the year. The performance is better in the Y, the tech. These are quite different types of vehicles. Toyotas needs to end the big waits for their cars and fix their dealership experience.

storage room is debatable somewhat between both cars. I heard you can't remove the seats in the Sienna. The Model Y has seats that flip down flat, right?

The Toyota has definitely better space/usability from storing the seats down to also laying them flat.... they are fixed for more safety since they are on a rail.
