9 months in and I'm still loving stepping into my Model 3 every day. You're right, the white seats really make the interior pop in the sunshine! I get so many positive comments about the seats. And they truely are easy to keep clean. And yes, the auto-wipers are probably the most annoying feature for me; they're not very intelligent. The one extra good thing I'd add... roadside assistance. Got a flat a few months ago, within 90mins the wheel was changed and I was on my way. Not bad on a busy Friday night.

Did they change the tire on your wheel or exchanged for their wheel? (Do you get your old wheel back?)

Thanks Nick ! So glad to hear you're still loving the Model 3 (no surprise!) and the white seats as well. Great point about roadside assistance ... I haven't needed that yet thankfully, but good to know you had a positive experience.

Agree on all the points, especially Premium Connectivity, for roadtrips the satellite color maps are wonderful, especially finding unfamiliar superchargers in context of real world eg in parking lots... plus seeing the scenery around you.. plus, of course streaming music, so easy to just use voice control "play xyz" artist or song, so easy to get whatever suits your mood at the time.

Got the model y LR for 2 months now and I just can't get enough of it. It drives so pleasant that even my wife who preferred Volvo, says it's a very pleasant car. Even with family trips it's so amazing car. Starting the airco while waiting in the shop to enter a fresh cooled car via the app it's just so amazing. Also the amazing space in the trunk and backseats is just amazing.

You are sooo right about the auto wipers. Just got our black Mod Y RWD last saturday and it had rained quite a bit since then so plenty of time to get acquainted with the auto wipers. Exactly as you said, it seems to overly react to every raindrop and then the rain stops and it’s still merrily dry wiping. It’s very erratic and so hope that subsequent software updates will improve that. Autohighbeam…great! only little quibble reflector signs on the road often fool the car. It’s dimmed on every occasion for oncoming cars and following cars.
Best car I owned! I keep making excuses to the family to take it for a drive…anywhere😊. Indeed, the future of driving!

Hi, I have a model 3 and I love the car but just a couple of things that hopefully can be improved. First is that the air conditioning vent blows cold air on your legs even though the graphics on the screen show it blowing towards your face. I complained to Tesla and they worked on it for three hours then said it needed parts to repair. 6 weeks later a new modified dash vent assembly was fitted and it made no difference. Technician said that “it is was it is” That’s why the top of the steering column is flat and curved up to direct the air up. Maybe during winter I’ll enjoy the warm air on my legs. Secondly I wish the clock on screen could be made a little larger. Thirdly I would like the brake lights on the graphics on the screen to be a little brighter for when your using regen braking.
Great videos, keep up the good work

Good review Ryan. I, like you, opted to install the Otrifowd sliding shade. This was not so much for sun protection as I live on the south coast of British Columbia, but rather for sound deadening. Pulling the rear portion of the shade forward seems to dampen some of the echoes fro the glass roof. As for keeping Cooper cool and happy on hot summer days, have you considered dropping the centre armrest/pass through portion of the rear seat back and aiming the A/C duct louvres through the opening? That vent produces a pretty strong supply of chilled air that might just do the trick.

    • @RyanCowan

I have the same car, including the Induction wheels. I’m in the UK and our roads are terrible so I think the suspension is too stiff. I gather the newer cars, certainly those made in Germany, have improved softer suspension. I also agree about the wipers so I find myself using autopilot less and less. Other than that, it’s excellent as you outline.

I have a 2021 Model Y with 40,000 miles. One plus that you won't come across at only 6 months is the maintenance. My total maintenance has been filling the windshield washer tank, rotating the tires, changed the cabin air filter once but did have to change the 12Volt battery once due to living in a hot location. Still have the original tires. Also a minor thing but I never have to scrub off the brake dust because there isn't any.

Great video Ryan. We’ve owned our model 3 LR since March 2021. We love it. It’s such a great car to own and drive. And it gets better every time a significant update comes along. However, we too have noticed:
The paint is rubbish. We have the stupidly expensive Red option, which is no better than the white. You’ve only got to sneeze in front of it and there’s another chip. Disappointing and upsetting. We may end up getting the front resprayed and a protective film applied, next time we find a few thousand down the back of the couch.
The auto wiper function is also rubbish on our car. It does exactly the same things yours does. We’ve noticed if you give the washers a squirt when a bug hits the screen, all hell breaks loose for the next minute or so. It must be damaging the blades at least, if not the screen itself.
Still, no regrets. Great cars. Good to see so many 3s and Ys on the road now. We hardly saw a single other Tesla when we first bought ours.
    Cheers

I agree about the lack of standard items like rubber mats, the organizing thing that goes in the front center thingy. Also, I’ve had various things replaced (luckily for free, after being VERY firm in some cases), like a bubbling drivers side armrest, the center armrest (twice), and other things. I think the interior quality of my Model 3 is pretty horrible, especially coming from an Audi. I love the Tesla UI and app; I use Voice Control ALL THE TIME to do things like turn on Defogger, turning on/off Climate, operating steering wheel/seat heaters, etc. so this is awesome that I don’t think you can find in other cars.

Great and informative video. Glad you pointed out the benefits of a light interior. For too many manufacturers they seem stuck in the " black seats, black dashboard and black ceiling too". I'm flexible about the exterior colour of my car but inside, where I'll spend the most time I want it light and bright!

I have been driving my Y Performance for 2 months and I'm really happy about the car. The biggest issue with the car is that visual parking assist sucks and is a big step down from the 360 park assist I had in my Mazda. Then how the drive assist adjusts the speed limits needs an overhaul. Finally for some reason the car gets really dirty in the door openings I guess these are not sealed off good enough compared to other cars. But all in all I like the car.

Since this is a 6 month old Model Y, some of the complaints have been addressed in new units. The suspension is improved, the price is reduced, and it gets the full tax credit. I keep comparing it to other similarly specced EVs and the MY just seems like the best deal overall. I could be wrong though, I just can't find another EV that matches the MYLR spec sheet without being way more expensive.

thinking about getting one as our next car so I rented a MY for 5 days for a family trip. Personally, it felt a bit small and low compared to the camry and CRV we are use to. Loved how quiet it is and the surprising amount of cargo space. The biggest annoying point was that we had to pretty much google how to do every single thing in it and there are likely many features it has that we never knew existed.
The car is not ideal as a rental vehicle for those whos never driven one. 5 days was enough for the initial hype to die down a bit. I still think its an interesting car and would love to explore all of its featurea. Just not something I feel I urgently want anymore.

Ha I've wondered exactly what someone's first impression is to the Y from a rental. Sometimes my brain just blacks out trying to do something basic, like indicate or park it. I've owned a 3 for 2 years and it still catches me out sometimes. It's almost risky to have people jump in to a Tesla without some prior experience. I hope it didn't put you off them for life :)

I feel ya. I've test-driven Model 3/Y four times, and checking stuff online in between on how to do certain things. It was only on the 4th drive that I could actually enjoy just driving and was confident enough about knowing my way around all the settings and controls.

@@SkandiaAUS probably depends how much you're trying to do. There's a lot you can do to customize your experience, but you really don't need to worry about if you don't want to. Drove one (MY) for 24hours , the owners showed me in 2min how to setup my profile, charge the car and I drove off... and just enjoyed the drive. My only trouble was the first time I tried to open the frunk (and the first time I tried to charge, but that was on the awfull provider app, not tesla's fault).
