how is 'crocheting over your tail' asking for extra work@@sarahnoble74 ..?? l ALWAYS crochet over my tails so l don't have to stop to sew in/cut off all that extra yarn..so far none of MY work has come apart with that method..the way that this person does it is just calling for EXTRA work..if you want to sew in ends the work partially over tail leaving enough to then sew backwards..
You do an amazing job of teaching this simple yet lovely pattern. I was struggling to remember this pattern that my mother, who passed away, taught me when I was a very little girl. I tried reading directions and watching other videos but got discouraged fast. I was about to give up until I found this and another video of yours. They are the best by far! I'm now working on my first granny square in decades and happily reliving the memories of crocheting with my mother. I can now work on recreating the blanket she made over 30 years ago. Thank you!!

Hi Christa I always put a chain between my clusters, I love the result you get by not doing a chain.between,i will do my squares your way from now on, I think turning after each round keeps it perfectly square, thanks so much Christa, Love your channel, xx

So glad I found this video. I'm working a 1970s hat pattern and after first round it said to tie off and change colors. I'm guessing they didn't use the magic knot back then. I needed another way to change colors and I found it here! Thanks a lot. This method helped me figure out a lot of my crocheting problems.

After years of trying to learn to crochet, my mum was brilliant at knitting & crochet n did try & teach me ,,,I watched your video over & over a few times and now can crochet,,, yayyyy thankyou, iv now crochet a pink baby blanket a king size large granny squared blanket & on a project now, iv crochet 200 plus granny squares in multicolours , I'm storing in shoe boxes for now till ive done & then going to choose the ones I want to make a long multicoloured hooded cardigan,, thankyou so much xx

Love your color choice, love how you join and then slip st with both strands and great idea to sew in ends as you go. I made granny squares about 34 yrs. ago, had many many made, never got to put them together lost them all in a house fire. Picked up crocheting again about a year ago, have yet to make a granny square yet. After watching you I think I'm ready to try again.. want to make a circle blanket too, can't wait for your video. I made a kids skirt a couple of weeks ago by following my 1st pattern. I'm so pr out of it. It was so simply written anyone who knows the basics could follow it. Love videos who have the written pattern in the link so I have sight and the pattern. It has helped me with following that pattern. Someone puts a chart in corner of s green. So I've learned a few things that way too. My goal is to be able to make things by following patterns. Sorry so long😁

I had been searching and watching tons of granny square tutorials and none of them made any sense until now. Thanks to you and your amazing tutorial I was able to complete a 21 row granny square. I used six different neon colored yarns. This is the best video on TH-cam hands down. I’m going to turn it into a halter top and once I finish I plan on making a blanket made up of smaller granny squares. Could you please do a granny triangle tutorial, a half granny square tutorial and a granny pentagon tutorial. I tried a crochet class once and I learned nothing, I have been trying YT crochet videos for Three days and all still nothing just a mess and confusing, then I found you, I finally made the little center bit!!! I like your video because you explain it simply and clearly and you show how its supposed to look as you go along so I can see where I should be kinda pulling it into shape which really helped. Hi Christa, I'm following the Beginner Series and this popped up, needless to say I watched this in absolute Awe. I've just made a Granny Square Scrap Blanket and I was sort if following a Granny Square in a New Book in the UK, it showed that you joined your New Yarn in a Side Stitch and NOT the Corners. Because i was making a Scrap Blanket I just knotted my ends together so it didn't matter where the joins were, because of this i wasn't turning in a corner so i didn't know where to finish it. Fortunately its turned out quite well. I actually really love it. Next time I will definitely be following your instructions. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. Happy Crotcheting. Im personally 13 and have been crocheting for 5 years and i never knew how to do grannies before this. this helped me soooo much. You should do tutorials for other types of granny squares like hearts, flowers etc.. I think a LOT of ppl would use those. I know I would.

How dang cute!! I’m doing black/yellow squares. Did 13 rows of double crochet squares of each color (12 each) then didn’t like how they were joining together. So took 1 yellow apart did a granny square. Then saw a photo of a different multi color granny square. So I tried to do a black in middle and yellow around and then black around. Stopped and was like there’s gotta be a better way to change colors. So here I am!! Oh my goodness!! Thank you!!! I’m still new at granny squares and this helps a lot!!

Every other video I've come across has either no narrator, goes off screen, expects everyone to already know their next move 🤣 I taught myself to crochet (after knitting since I was a kid) a couple years ago and I only know how to single crochet and half double crochet 😅

Love your color choice, love how you join and then slip st with both strands and great idea to sew in ends as you go. I made granny squares about 34 yrs. ago, had many many made, never got to put them together lost them all in a house fire. Picked up crocheting again about a year ago, have yet to make a granny square yet. After watching you I think I'm ready to try again.. want to make a circle blanket too, can't wait for your video. I made a kids skirt a couple of weeks ago by following my 1st pattern. I'm so pr out of it. It was so simply written anyone who knows the basics could follow it. Love videos who have the written pattern in the link so I have sight and the pattern. It has helped me with following that pattern. Someone puts a chart in corner of s green. So I've learned a few things that way too. My goal is to be able to make things by following patterns. Sorry so long😁

I have been crocheting about four months now and learning how to make a granny square has been at the top of my list. I had been searching and watching tons of granny square tutorials and none of them made any sense until now. Thanks to you and your amazing tutorial I was able to complete a 21 row granny square. I used six different neon colored yarns. This is the best video on TH-cam hands down. I’m going to turn it into a halter top and once I finish I plan on making a blanket made up of smaller granny squares. Could you please do a granny triangle tutorial, a half granny square tutorial and a granny pentagon tutorial. Hi Christa, I'm following the Beginner Series and this popped up, needless to say I watched this in absolute Awe.
I've just made a Granny Square Scrap Blanket and I was sort if following a Granny Square in a New Book in the UK, it showed that you joined your New Yarn in a Side Stitch and NOT the Corners. Because i was making a Scrap Blanket I just knotted my ends together so it didn't matter where the joins were, because of this i wasn't turning in a corner so i didn't know where to finish it. Fortunately its turned out quite well.
I actually really love it.
Next time I will definitely be following your instructions.

Im personally 13 and have been crocheting for 5 years and i never knew how to do grannies before this. this helped me soooo much. You should do tutorials for other types of granny squares like hearts, flowers etc.. I think a LOT of ppl would use those. I know I would.

I have never seen a granny square where it is worked from both sides, but I guess that makes sense to make it ‘right’ side from both sides

I’m doing black/yellow squares.
Did 13 rows of double crochet squares of each color (12 each) then didn’t like how they were joining together. So took 1 yellow apart did a granny square.
Then saw a photo of a different multi color granny square. So I tried to do a black in middle and yellow around and then black around. Stopped and was like there’s gotta be a better way to change colors.
So here I am!!
