- In this video I share how you can make a multi colored granny square with only ONE tail to weave in. Plus I confirm if it works. ✔️🙂
A big thank you to Anita for sharing her method. Be sure to visit her channel for a full tutorial on how to make a granny square step by step. Her work is beautiful:

I hope you enjoy this trick, let me know what you think! xx
Good ideas. I do most of these, already with the exception of the center one.
I love it! Thank you ♥
Awesome! I can’t wait to try this technique
Thanks, all my questions are answered 😀
Thanks! I have been checking different methods for not having to weave ends in granny squares. Some are way too complicated and seem to take more time than weaving the ends and some seem that could be unraveled easily. Your method is the best of both worlds! Simpler and safer! Thanks for the laundry test on top of it all!
I’ve been doing this for quite a few years, with no issues, but I rarely share that info because I was told that it was wrong. I feel so much validation with this video. Thanks . I hope everyone sees this video
I’m excited to see that so many people are doing it. It confirms to me even more that it works and that’s what is most important to me. 💕🧶
I have been doing this for years as well! Share away!!! Lol!!
If it works then what crazy person told you it was wrong? 😂
I can’t wait to try this! And now that I know this is a method that holds up I feel so much better! I have three young children and we are all rough on things so now I feel optimistic!! ❤❤❤thank you
Fancy meeting you here!! My philosophy is, it's only wrong, if it doesn't work! There's often more than one way of getting to the same place, and nothing wrong with that! I think sometimes people can get set on or stuck in only one way doing something, and that becomes the end-all and be-all. It's creative thinking outside the box that develops new solutions, techniques and advances, as with anything. After all, necessity is the mother of invention! And for those of us who dread sewing in ends, it's a win-win in my book! 💗😃💗
That’s a silly theory that it’s wrong to share art.. humans create their own wild belly. I wish I could tell those who spread that idea to keep their ideas to themselves 😮
I just today finished weaving the ends on over 70 granny squares!!! Did I mention I just saw your tutorial AFTER I finished the weaving?
I’m still crying but now I will cry tears of joy
Oh, drat 🤣💕
I just love how you explain WHY are you doing of what you doing. Those little tips we all need. Novice or not, we always learn something new. Thank you for being a great teacher.
So glad you fine those helpful , thank you ! 😀👏🏻🧶💕
I also have been using this technique for years with some people expressing doubt about the technique. Thank you so much for the vindication.
I dread seeing a project with so many colors but after seeing this tutorial I feel I can take the challenge! Thank you so much 😊
Right?!? Everyone says no square knots.
I learned how to crochet granny squares over fifty years ago. This was the exact technique my mother taught me to use. I'm not sure who taught my mom. But this is the method I've always used when making any granny squares. It never made sense to me that someone could crochet anything and have have so many tails to weave in at the end when it's so much easier to hide them as you go.
😀👏🏻👏🏻💕
Me too since 1980 ! I've been told it was wrong but I didn't care. I wanted it secure because of washing it. Loose ends seemed like they would work their way out.
Game changer!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!
Of course, weaving ends isn't fabulous, I love this! I've been doing this for years and been told it's wrong, doesn't work and compromises my work. THANK YOU, both, so much for featuring this, it does work and more enjoyable for us that hate ends, and, create with multiple colors without 4 ends each round. 👍😁
Blehhh on whoever gave you a hard time on that. If it works , looks good , and makes it enjoyable to crochet, that’s all that matters imho 🙌🏻🧶💕
So now i find out others have been doing this too!!!❤
For many years weaving ends in a conventional way... now you kindly share your method... Thank youuuuu! I am soo happy!
That was fun. What an ideal way to handle those ends.
Life changing! I've been crocheting for years and I have this massive skill gap when it comes to weaving in...so many unfinished projects because of it. This method looks so doable for me. Thanks for sharing!
Oddly enough, I started doing this on my own while on my learning journey. I didn’t even find this video until months later. 😮
Whoa! I just said this morning that I’d do more color changes if I didn’t need to have to worry about end! Can’t wait to try this!
Neat, right? I’m blown away with how well it works 💕🧶
This is amazing! 🤯 I just started a granny square project, and am so happy I found this video. Thank you!
Thank you! Tying on the new yarn making sure the old yarn is under it is the key!
Exactly that’s where the success is, I’m sure 👏🏻🧶💕😀
Looked at many many tutorials for green squares. Yours is the best and easiest to follow! I love your technique and plan on making placemats out of multiple colored squares for my parents anniversary. I love the fact that you use all beautiful kinds of colors and an easy technique to change color per row! I don’t plan on turning my squares, they look beautiful on both sides. I think I can get finish by their 66th wedding anniversary in August 2024. Thank you for your detailed method. Look forward and excited to completing my project. I will definitely recommend you to my fellow crochet friends 🥰🤗 ✂️🧶🪡
Wonderful! I l’m sure you will finish on time, what a lovely gift!
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Loved your showing me what to do. It was very informative, Kathy
We hold our yarn, fingers, and hook exactly the same, I've not seen anyone do this before. Thank you for your tutorial.
That's great! I don't think there are many of us that do it this way. lol xx
Yes, me too!
I didn’t know you could do Granny Squares two ways. I always have done them in the round; with one right side/one wrong side. I look forward to trying the turn the square after each row to see how I like it. 👏🤗👍 Your tips were helpful. I generally leave the last row string hanging in order to arrange my squares when it’s time to join. This way, all the bottoms line up. Thank You Very Much! Therese 🧶
Great tip about lining up ! Thanks! 😀👏🏻🧶💕
Hello. Yes chain 3 and turn your work. Both sides are the "right side" and you can continue on to a king size blanket if you want. It's called continuous granny ❤
Okay....looks like I'm definitely going to be making granny squares for the lap blanket I want to make my Grammy after all and as well as for a regular blanket for me.
Oh my. I’m so glad I came across the tutorial. I just started a granny square hat. I’ve got 2 squares done and I’ve been weaving after every color. This is going to help so much! Thank you!
Love that idea
I agree with everyone else…it’s life changing! Thank You for posting this.❤
Game changer for me because I love making granny squares. This trick will reduce time making them.
This was life changing. Lol 🤯 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and concerns as you did, it validated my own fears lol. I was like yeah those tails won't hold. Will be trying! Beautiful kitty btw.💕
So glad you got something from the video 😀🧶💕
Thanks for showing this trick, it will make crochet life a lot easier.
Love the choice of colours, thankyou for sharing your video, handy tips are always useful ❤
Thanks, Diane 😀🧶💕
This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing this method. I've always done the center this way but I never felt secure enough to just leave it without weaving in. Now I am going to just leave it. Yay!!! And I will happily do the rest of the square as you demonstrated. I am in the middle of a project and just finished weaving in ends on 18 squares. I am so happy that I won't be doing any weaving on the rest of them. Thanks again.
Beautiful colors!!
Hello Roz and happy Sunday to you . I've been using this technique for years and have found it to be neat and tidy . Its the real deal . The boys are having fun and so must you . Have a great day .
I’m so glad you all are confirming that it does indeed work! I love this and will definitely start doing it 😀 Have a great week , Angela 😽🧶💕
This is awesome. I’m trying it out now with my granny squares. It saves a lot of time.
Thank you for a great technique. I can't wait to try it out!
Loved it. Thanks for sharing 🎉🎉❤
Thank you for sharing! I despise weaving in so many ends so I’ll be doing this from now on! I love learning new tricks! 🎉
Thank you so much. I often shy away from grannies simply bc of the dreaded task of weaving in tails. I generally carry my yarn if I'm going to use the same color again, but that's a whole thing with tangles. Anyway, thanks again. I'm soooo excited to use this technique AND, just bc of you, I just ordered my yarn for a large granny square cardigan with hood for the fall, my most favorite time of the year. I'm pumped! Oh, and I just love your sense of humor, haha. Your ad-in snippets are so funny. Have a fabulous day! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! Ooooh a cardigan with a good sounds amazing 🧶😍😍😍😍
Oh, yes, Anita. This could never be wrong because it saves so much meticulous headache! I loved this little technique. Thank you so much for sharing. I will live longer now because I won't be sewing in so many ends!!! I love the detailed granny squares but was afraid of doing them because of all the picky sewing at the end!💕💗💋
😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧶❤️
Thank You for this tutorial it's a good way to anchor joining threads and changing colors. I will give this a try next time i crochet.
This was enlightening! I hate crocheting granny squares, motifs and flowers because of THOSE ENDS to WEAVE IN after. However, your video has given me the go ahead to start some lovely squares! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️. Thank you. 🤗
I love this method. So glad I watched your video. I love learning new things, even at my age (76). I'm always Granny Square things and this will help immensely. Thank you for sharing this 🥰
Wonderful! 👏🏻❤️
This is awesome, I love learning new tips
I will be trying this! Thank you so much!
Love this idea.❤❤❤
Thanks so much for sharing this!
Oh my gosh Roz, I love this idea. I'm using it the next time I do granny squares. Thank you for sharing out this technique.
Isn’t it neat! 😀 Thanks for watching 🧶💕
Fantastic tutorial, thank you very much,
So I started a granny blanket and I have to say .. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER! I am thrilled with this "trick " it work's amazing! Thank you so much !
So glad ! 😀👏🏻💕
I absolutely love your channel. I have crocheted since I was 13 and I'm 64. You are always teaching me new techniques. My philosophy is "if it works and more importantly if it helps, it can't be wrong" As long as it's legal and moral!!! 😁
I so appreciate you and your channel.
😊❤ Have a blessed evening.
“If you can’t be good, be careful !”
😂 Seriously, though, thank you for taking the time to tell me this. Your message has made my day most sincerely. ❤️
So nice and neat , good technique.
Definitely going to try this technique. Thanks
Yes- this is what I do with all my work whenever possible & it saves much weaving in of ends!
My variation is that I do a standing double crochet in a corner to start a new color with a new round.
AND we hold our work & hook exactly the same!!
I’m really glad you mentioned this because I was wondering if it would work well even when starting with a standing double. Excellent! And yay , now we can start a club for pencil holders! 👌🏻🤣🙌🏻💕🧶
Same here, pencil holder & magic ring lover 🤩
Oh my goodness, this is wonderful. Thank you very much for sharing it. I had just started a granny square blanket last week. It will go much faster and easier now. Thank you again.
Awesome, I love it , I hope you will too! 😀🧶💕
Thanks so much. I will definitely do this way. Super easy. 👌
Nice addition of the beautiful kitty at the end. 😉♥️
😻❤️
Definitely will give this a try
This is awesome! Thank you
this is the best tutorial for hiding the ends in each round. Love it! thank you so much!
Thank you ! 😀👏🏻💕
Thank you. I’ve been struggling while crocheting this after spending hours on youtube until I saw your tutorial.
So glad it helped , that makes me very happy 👏🏻❤️
Thank you! Love the office reference too! ❤
😀🤭🧶❤️
This technique looks great! Am definitely going to try this. Thank you 😊😊
So glad you liked it 😀🧶💕
Great tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing this technique. Seems like it would hold better, with the reverse granny; since you're then crocheting around the tail, in the opposite direction with each color change. That to me, replicates sewing in ends, with exception of going back in the other direction again, for the 3rd time. Now I'm re-inspired to make grannies again, yay! I'd probably still sew in my beginning tail just a little, for that added security. Especially if using a more slippery fiber. 😅
Good points! I agree with you on the center … I prefer doing a magic ring to start so I will probably stick with that and continue weaving that end in. 🧶💕
@@PlayHookywithMe I'm all about the magic circle too! 😃
I just love your videos. So helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much 😀🧶💕
This sounds amazing.
Thank you! I am definitely going to start doing this.
Great 😀💕🧶
Very cool! Thanks!

Beautiful ❤️😍
Thank you. Excellent tutorial ❤
I like your instructions! Thanks.
Thank you ! 🧶❤️
Love this! Going to try it!
Yay 😀🙌🏻🧶💕
Thank you!
Roz, this is fabulous, i take tails along as you do in this tutorial but then i used to still weave in again 😜stupid me never thought that ‘s enough and sometimes the centre gets ruined too 🙌🤗thanks for sharing, appreciate a lot 👍❤️🙏🏻
It’s not stupid at all, this is what we’ve all been taught to believe but I can’t deny how well it actually worked. Plus , with so many comments that others are already doing it helps! 😀💕
I love it.❤❤❤
Yay 😀🙌🏻💕
My granddaughter wanted me to make a granny square sweater for her and I eagerly said, "Sure!". However, thinking about all those color changes caused me real concern. SO HAPPY to find your solution and instructions here, and now I am eager to get started!!!
Oh good! What a lucky granddaughter, she’s going to love her sweater! 😍👏🏻🧶❤️
You are just like me…I would crochet a mountain if my granddaughter asked me! Oh, to do anything to make them happy💕
Great instructions and explanations, great backdrop, colors (my new blanket colors - ty) and your voice, volume, and speed are perfect. Well done and thank you.
Appreciate your feedback so much, thank you! 🧶💕
I love this idea.
Thank you ! 🧶💕
This is great. I put it to the test by making a large granny square using this color change method. I then proceeded to machine wash and dry at least 10 times. It never came undone. Thank you, I had stopped making granny square blankets because of the dreaded weaving in at end of the project.
That’s fantastic 😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thanks so much for sharing ! 🤩
Well explained,thank you 😊🧶
That is great. Thank you.😊
Pretty pretty cool indeed
I will be using this, thank you!
Brilliant❤
