  • In this video I share how you can make a multi colored granny square with only ONE tail to weave in. Plus I confirm if it works. ✔️🙂
A big thank you to Anita for sharing her method. Be sure to visit her channel for a full tutorial on how to make a granny square step by step. Her work is beautiful:

Thanks! I have been checking different methods for not having to weave ends in granny squares. Some are way too complicated and seem to take more time than weaving the ends and some seem that could be unraveled easily. Your method is the best of both worlds! Simpler and safer! Thanks for the laundry test on top of it all!

Fancy meeting you here!! My philosophy is, it's only wrong, if it doesn't work! There's often more than one way of getting to the same place, and nothing wrong with that! I think sometimes people can get set on or stuck in only one way doing something, and that becomes the end-all and be-all. It's creative thinking outside the box that develops new solutions, techniques and advances, as with anything. After all, necessity is the mother of invention! And for those of us who dread sewing in ends, it's a win-win in my book! 💗😃💗

I learned how to crochet granny squares over fifty years ago. This was the exact technique my mother taught me to use. I'm not sure who taught my mom. But this is the method I've always used when making any granny squares. It never made sense to me that someone could crochet anything and have have so many tails to weave in at the end when it's so much easier to hide them as you go.

Of course, weaving ends isn't fabulous, I love this! I've been doing this for years and been told it's wrong, doesn't work and compromises my work. THANK YOU, both, so much for featuring this, it does work and more enjoyable for us that hate ends, and, create with multiple colors without 4 ends each round. 👍😁

Looked at many many tutorials for green squares. Yours is the best and easiest to follow! I love your technique and plan on making placemats out of multiple colored squares for my parents anniversary. I love the fact that you use all beautiful kinds of colors and an easy technique to change color per row! I don’t plan on turning my squares, they look beautiful on both sides. I think I can get finish by their 66th wedding anniversary in August 2024. Thank you for your detailed method. Look forward and excited to completing my project. I didn’t know you could do Granny Squares two ways. I always have done them in the round; with one right side/one wrong side. I look forward to trying the turn the square after each row to see how I like it. 👏🤗👍 Your tips were helpful. I generally leave the last row string hanging in order to arrange my squares when it’s time to join. This way, all the bottoms line up. Thank You Very Much! Therese 🧶

Great tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing this technique. Seems like it would hold better, with the reverse granny; since you're then crocheting around the tail, in the opposite direction with each color change. That to me, replicates sewing in ends, with exception of going back in the other direction again, for the 3rd time. Now I'm re-inspired to make grannies again, yay! I'd probably still sew in my beginning tail just a little, for that added security. Especially if using a more slippery fiber. 😅

Great instructions and explanations, great backdrop, colors (my new blanket colors - ty) and your voice, volume, and speed are perfect. Well done and thank you.

This is great. I put it to the test by making a large granny square using this color change method. I then proceeded to machine wash and dry at least 10 times. It never came undone. Thank you, I had stopped making granny square blankets because of the dreaded weaving in at end of the project.
