When you did the second round, you told us to do 3 double stitches into that same chain as the chain four. From there, you lost me. I saw that you chained one and then did 3 doubles again, but where? I guess I’m stupid. If you would have told us where you went from the first three doubles, it would have helped. Thanks 😒
Deborah, from watching the video, I believe the way Brittany makes her granny is like this. After initial chain 4 and 3 double crochet, there's no chain 1, she just goes straight into the next chain 1 corner space and does 3 double crochet, 1 chain, 3 double crochet. Hope that helps.
She did the chain 4 to make up for the chain one space when she comes back around to complete that corner. She doesn’t have to do a chain one for the corner since she ALREADY chained 4. One she’s completed the second round hope that made sense 😊
Everytime I made a granny square it would become weird last time I made one it turned into a hexagon this one is perfectly square thank you for the video Sarah this helped a lot
This tutorial was very useful! I've been crocheting for about 2 years now and never learned how to make a granny square. I made my first 2 granny squares. Is it possible you have a pattern for this?
LOVE LOVE LOVE the simply explained and speed of your video! I'm making a continuous (infinity) granny square baby afghan for my donation box. Thank you!!! :)
So after the 3 double crochet, you skip 3 stitches and do 3 double crochet into the corner stitch (going into the spaces made from the chains you made between dcs in the first round). So chain 4, 3 dc, skip 3, 3dc, chain 1, 3 dc. Then repeat in the other “corners”
Hello, I have been crocheting for a number of years and watched a good few tutorials on you tube. I have to say your one is one of the best I have seen, clear, well demonstrated a big help to anybody trying to learn how to crochet. I personally like the magic circle but have found they do sometimes come undone. Have you got any particular way that you secure the tag end of the circle. I personally use a triple darn on the reverse side of the square but there is always that doubt it might come undone. What do you do? Bob Smith UK. Thanks.
Hi Bob! Thank you so much for the kind words, and I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful! When using magic circle, I weave in the tail end a few times around the circle and make sure to pull tight. As long as you go around at least 3 times (like you said above) you should be fine. I haven't had any issues yet.
Does anyone know what kind of yarn this is? All the yarns I see and buy are really fuzzy which is fine but sometimes I see people using yarns like this that are so SMOOTH and soft looking
This is Caron Simply Soft Yarn! That line is 100% acrylic and categorized as a #4-medium weight yarn (but I would say it’s on the lighter end of that weight category). It’s a shiny, smooth yarn, and very pretty! If you’re in the States you can usually always find it at Walmart, JOANNs, or Michael’s
@@JustBeCrafty thank you so much I will keep an eye out for similar textures!! Not in the US but your info should still help out (and maybe someone in the states will get more info from it too!!) 💕 thanks!
I find it fascinating, all the different ways people have of making a granny. I love the colours you picked for this square but I confess I'm not a fan of Caron Simply Soft, I find it very splitty.
A little bit frustrating not going to lie. How are you going to just explain to put three chains in the same stitch and go completely rouge from there. I wish you explained more
The second round is all over the place, just music and no instruction and the instructions given do not match what was done. If you are going to create a tutorial you have to TEACH
For all the newbies out there reading the above comment: there’s no ‘wrong’ way to crochet. Don’t let negative voices like this stop you from finding your own style and having fun. Keep creating, and enjoy the journey 🫶
Did you forget to give us instructions at 5:17
THIS VIDEO IS HOW I FIRST LEARNED HOW TO MAKE A GRANNY SQUARE TYSSSS
I dont get it. You start with 3 dc but then switch to 6 without telling us what is up with that.
Real i gotta remove my previous stitches

What do you do with the tails? I feel like if you weave them in, it will be visible. Thanks!
