Well, I just completed my first multicolored granny square with out ends and I loved it. So easy to weave them in this way and it looks neater. Thank you again for sharing this technique. 👏 👏
This method strengthens your whole piece: Also this method helps you to change your way of thinking: helps you "get out" of the rut, leaving the ends to last: believe me this is the better method: Once you change yr thinking, you will be grateful you persevered: It's all about changing bad habits, to easier habits: Thank you to this teacher :.
I've been crocheting for decades. I love Grannies & think this is a great shortcut technique I need to remember. Ty for sharing. I agree with you, this actually it's still weaving in the ends. But that's ok. I like this quicker shortcut. And thank goodness you did 3 chs in the corners & 1 in-between clusters. Somewhere along the years younger folks have not been doing this & now say they wonder why their Grannies are curling & need to be blocked.
Thank you, this is brilliant. I see some people can't try anything new, but at 73 and a lot of crocheting and knitting I'm all for a really clever and substantial way I will do this. I have just done 144 blocks and even sewing as I go, this is much quicker. Threading yarn every round, threading, cutting and not losing my needle. This will be my new way. Thank you
I know I’m a little late to the video but thank you so much for this!! I hate starting with a normal ch3 and this helps thicken it up a little and it looks great! I DETEST sewing in ends and this is so perfect!!! I’ve watched a lot of other videos with other no-sew techniques and this is by far the best one out there!! This is such a game changer, THANK YOU!!
It's always great to find a method you like and works for you. Watching this tutorial I still feel like if you sew as you go it takes almost the same amount of time. I'll keep sewing...
Love this, did start using this technique a few squares ago by sheer chance but glad to know it will survive a wash! Really like the clear instructions ❤
Been doing this for a while, but I still stitch in the ends but your technique will be better for the ends. Thank you, I taught myself to crochet using your tutorials. Your brilliant ❤
I've been crocheting for many years & developed my own way of sewing in ends (controversially using a hidden knot too) but I will defintely be giving your way a go. I'm just sewing in the ends of 98 squares (for 2 blankets) so anything that will make my life easier in future is a major plus. Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤
This looks so much more secure. My first granny square blanket is already coming apart so this method will be used from now on. Worth the small amount of extra time to save all the ends.
For starters, the way you started the magic circle blew my mind... I picked up crocheting as a hobby for the new year and was taught to chain 3 or 4 and work back into the first chain. This method wasn't the best for me because the center would always look bulky. I came to learn how to do one thing and got an extra tip. Great video!
What I have been doing since I started crocheting is while the yarn is on the hook, I slip stitch into the next few chains ending in a ch3 space (preferably a corner). Then I leave a long tail, cut the yarn, turn the square around n slip going backwards into the next chain 3 sp. This also leaves no tail to weave in and only takes an extra minute to do. It’s basically the same as your method only I cut after slip stitching. Hope this helps!
This is BRILLIANT!! Thank you so much! Could have definitely used this when making a granny square sweater recently, but I’m more likely to make another one now because of this shortcut. 😊
I have seen this done with a slightly different technique and it works , I will give this a try ! Thank you . I do prefer magic circle rather than a chain 4 but to avoid sewing in the tail from the magic ring , do the chain up 4 method to create magic ring and that tail is secure no need to sew in , at least that works well for me ..
Thanks loads for this. I’ve recently returned to crochet after a gap of several years and came upon your videos by chance. I’ve been sewing in my ends but will definitely try this technique. I love the clarity of your explanations and recently found your book so have bought it. Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks for the video… I stopped making granny squares because of all the endless ends. But I love this technique, so now I have something to do with my endless left over yarn 😂
Thank you so much!! I just made my first granny square pants and I had 76 squares I had to weave multiple ends!!! Such a pain! Next time I will definitely do this technique. I plan on doing easter colors.
Thank you I made some finger less gloves using granny squares and suddenly saw some of the rounds come apart was gutted. So I am going to from them and complete the squares with this technique thank you again!
Used to do this instinctively but didn't much like the first thickened stitch.. I see that you drop the tail of the yarn for the last pull through of the st. And you make more than one st carrying the tail yarn . Will definitely be trying this out whenever I grab my hook next.. Thanks for sharing
🎉😊❤ Thank you so much for your tutorial!!! I absolutely love your technique and suddenly I’m ready to make granny squares. Lol , I laugh bc I really don’t like to make granny squares 😂
Great instructions thanks. I try it out, sewing in ends takes forever and when i try to rush it they invarably come undone. Will give your technique a go.
I’m currently making my daughter a granny square dress and it’s kinda gathering dust in my wip pile because I hate sewing the ends in so I’m definitely going to try this!
I learnt to make granny squares from my aunt when I was 10 and I’ve been making them tor years. This is the se one time I’ve seen a video where a knit is tied when starting a new row. I don’t understand why. I’ve never found it necessary in all of the granny squares I’ve made. When burning the tail from the completes row, instead of forcing the yarn backwards along the row (it naturally lays to the right), I use the hook to pull the yarn through the tops of the stitches toward the corner to the right of where you end and then cover the tail with the stitches in the new row at the corner. I also cover the new tail at the same time.
While it takes a tad bit longer at the start of each row, it seems less daunting for the folks who leave sewing all those ends in to the final step, then don't have a completed project for who knows how long😂
Hi and thank you for this great way for securing yarn ends in granny squares. Do you have any tips for cotton yarn? I find the knots dont stay closed and ends manage to wriggle out even before I'm finished the square!
You’re welcome! 😊 You do need to pull quite tightly on the knot to make it secure, and remember to leave a really long tail so that you can give it a little tug as you need to as you work it in.
I usually love these videos but i woild have enjoyed this more if you'd mentioned much earlier in the video that you were not doing a step by step tutorial....i've had to unravel what i have started and find another of your tutorials 😅

I’ve been using this technique the last few months and it works so well. Thank you!
You're welcome :)
I REALLY needed this video 68 granny squares ago. Oh well! I know for next time now. Lol
Oh my god! Right!! 😅
Same! 😂

I’m going to give this a try. I actually don’t mind seeing in ends but I am also up for learning new things. Xx
This technique is FABULOUS! SO secure! Thank you!!!
You are very welcome :)
Great tips that I will definitely incorporate into my next granny square project!
I will honestly do anything to avoid weaving in ends at the end, so this is perfect for me 👍🏾
GAME CHANGER!! I hate weaving in my ends. I found a way to manage the new rows tail but this does both the last row and the current. Thank you!!
You are very welcome :)
Hi Bella coco , you've been my favorite person to learn crochet from I made alot of crochet tysm❤
You are very welcome :)

I'm so happy I've found this video ! I'm about to start a pretty big project and there's no way I'm weaving in the ends of 200+ granny squares 😂
Wow… I’m going to try this… added to the continuous join method, this looks like a game changer for granny squares!
8:36 I am downloading this so I can learn/practise for a long flight to USA, will pass the time happily😊
I've been trying to do something similar because I HATE sewing lol. This teaches me some more helpful techniques. Thank you!
You are very welcome :)
February 15 2024 Maryland USA: How brilliant is this! Plus I believe it gives a beginner like myself a better chance of a very clean granny squares.
Thanks loads for this. I’ve recently returned to crochet after a gap of several years and came upon your videos by chance. I’ve been sewing in my ends but will definitely try this technique. Ahh thank you so much that really does mean a lot to me :)
Very cool I love it!! I have avoided multi color granny's because of the sewing in the ends 😂 now i don't have to!
Omg I’ve been crocheting 30 years and never tried multi squares bc of ends this literally blows my mind 🤯👍😀😊
Ohhhhh I plan to use granny squares for my next temperature blanket, so this will come in very handy! Thanks! 😊
You are welcome :)
I really like it. So easy to do and it goes really quick. Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome :)
Wow, this is great! I'm about to start a granny blanket and I think this will save my sanity because I HATE weaving in the ends!
Glad it can help :)
That is awesome! I’m just now going to start a granny square blanket and I’m going to try this. I DO NOT like sewing in the ends. At all….ever 🌸🌸🌸
Wonderful technique. I’m currently crocheting a multi colored granny square blanket, so I will be able to include this into my work. Thank you.
Thank you :)
Thanks for the video… I stopped making granny squares because of all the endless ends. But I love this technique, so now I have something to do with my endless left over yarn 😂

What a fabulous way of sorting out those ends. Love it, thanks so much for sharing this little gem, definitely going to have a bash at that ❤
You are very welcome :)
Thanks so much for watching! What did you think to this technique? x
Does this mean you no longer gave right side and a wrong side (with the turning over)?
@@melaniebailey2774yes you won’t have a right and wrong side with this x
AMAZING! We were always told no knots! But I love this method and will be using it. Thank you
Thank you so much!! I just made my first granny square pants and I had 76 squares I had to weave multiple ends!!! Such a pain! Next time I will definitely do this technique. I plan on doing easter colors.

Great video. Easy to follow. Love the finished result. I always hated the regular method because it looked so sloppy and kept fraying.

Hard to see what you are doing using such a dark colour.
I’m currently making my daughter a granny square dress and it’s kinda gathering dust in my wip pile because I hate sewing the ends in so I’m definitely going to try this!
Thanks very much Bella for your great joining of colours, but would it not be easier to slip stitch to corner before you fasten off
Love this way,thanks
You're welcome 😊
Great idea! Video saved!
Thank you :)
Ty
You're welcome :)
Great idea thank you.
You're welcome :)
I’ll have to try this with some scraps of yarn. Looks fairly easy to follow but I never know until I try.
Good luck, let me know how you get on :)
thank you!
You're welcome :)
Great, thank you
You are welcome :)
Very good , I’m going to try this 😊😊
did you just save my life or whaaaat
That’s how I’ll be it doing from now on.
Using a smaller hook makes using this technique easier. Once the tails are in, go back to the other hook.
I learnt to make granny squares from my aunt when I was 10 and I’ve been making them tor years. This is the se one time I’ve seen a video where a knit is tied when starting a new row. I also cover the new tail at the same time.
IVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO A MAGIC RING BUT THIS IS SO EASY!!
I'm glad it helped :)
While it takes a tad bit longer at the start of each row, it seems less daunting for the folks who leave sewing all those ends in to the final step, then don't have a completed project for who knows how long😂
Interesting concept to avoid all those weaving in once finished crocheting.
Are the stitches on this corner much thicker than the other 3 making it look lopsided
I also could have used this 70 granny square ago.
Hi and thank you for this great way for securing yarn ends in granny squares. Do you have any tips for cotton yarn? I find the knots dont stay closed and ends manage to wriggle out even before I'm finished the square!
