Melee calling the player a predator is too relevant for some pro players
In _Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door,_ you can technically beat Gus in a fight and ends with him ran away from Mario. That way, you don't need to get paid to enter the east side of Rogueport.
Plus, Gus is guarding for 365 days a year, so gotta respect his grind.
Hes goin for that pay check 😂
I beat Gus second try in prologue, it's not that hard.
Same I also but him in prologue even I play on emulator and that time I can't get good timing with super guard yet but beat it in first try no save states too
And, before fleeing, he reprimands you for choosing violence to solve problems.
It takes a minimum of 7 turns to take Gus down if you do not use items but counters (thats what the european version calls superguards: A "counter" which, tbh, sounds more fitting)
3, if you use Fireflowers and superguards (You defeat him end round 3 when he attacks by Sguarding; you only have money for 5 flowers, not 6)
And I am not spending 50 coins to shorten that fight...
I think Gus is a lesson to the player that sometimes, running may be the best solution, as a new player would most likely have trouble beating him.
after that or with skills (as in you being good at the game), the lesson is that illegal toll posts get taken down no matter what.
I was able to beat him on my first attempt during my first playthrough
And as someone who has beat Gus in my first try, running away is never an option.
It is actually possible to beat Gus in the Prologue of Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door, you just gotta make sure you stock up on mushrooms and lightning bolt items first and be careful on when you use them
Actually, you can beat him for free using super guard
That's if you do the superguards well. Otherwise. Just use mushrooms and Hammah all the way to his death
The only way to get lighting bolts that early in the game is through shop points you probably meant fire flowers
Okay gus is not that hard to beat in the prologue.
Put goombella in front of you and have her guard every turn.
Gus will be forced to charge goombella every turn or chuck his spear at Mario which does 1 damage even if he times his command.
If Mario has super smash equipped Gus can not possibly kill Mario in this set up before he loses all of his health to super smashes.
We don’t need lightning or mushrooms.
Just be good at Superguarding. He's free.
Not only is it possible to win against Gus early on, but with the way Paper Mario TTYD's exp system works, it benefits you to beat him early as you get more EXP from fights the lower your level is.
You missed Twilight Princess. If you put no rupees in the bird’s box it will try to attack you when you enter the shop. And if you pay too little, it’ll call you cheapskate
on my twitch stream of the game..every time i visit that bird i always pay extra (and i always donate to the guy in castle town uwu) ...makin link to some charity work X3
That’s another example I was thinking this video should have included. Great minds think alike!
You did the animal crossing turnups wrong, the turnups want bad from a long passage of time, the punishment is when you go back in time not foward. Also I think going forward 1 day will not make the turnups spoil
Yes, exactly! The turnip only spoil after 7 days, even if you don't time travel.
yeah, came to say that. turnips spoil by default, he just did the time travel wrong.
also what happens when you go 1 day back?
@@sackzcottgames The turnips will spoil as well, i think.
atuomatic spoil, i think even going1 miunte back will spoil them@@sackzcottgames

You just need 2 or 3 fire flowers so your partner can deal damage too, so you get a lot of exp for the beginning and have an advantage in the first chapter. Even if you dont buy fire flowers, use her to use mushrooms on you so you can still attack. Its not that hard, you just have to think a little
I wouldn’t call fighting Gus being greedy. From my pov he’s being an asshole blocking the way and charging a toll to pass. Like Its much more satisfying to whoop his ass like “Get out of my way Buddy BOI!” 😂
Yeah, he’s a crook (albeit in a city of crooks), so refusing to let him extort you is perfectly fine.
"If you refuse to pay Gus early in _Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door,_ you will have one hard battle ahead of you."
Not entirely true. When you first talk to Gus, you have three options;
1: "Fine, I'll pay."
2: "I'm not paying."
3: "I can take you!"
First option: You fork over 10 Coins and he'll let you through. Leave the area, and it'll reset.
Second option: Nothing happens.
Third option: The battle with Gus commences. If you beat him, you get Star Points and you won't have to pay him ever again, as he flees to Ishnail's hideout. Lose, and it's Game Over. Run away from the fight, you survive and won't lose money.
Another example is when you can either fight or pay the huge Koopa in the original Paper Mario. I managed to beat him but he was tough. Great video!
The initial pair of Mystery Dungeon games would have the Kecleon label you as a thief if you accidentally stepped off his rug, or were pushed off it by a wild enemy pokemon (that ignored the rug entirely) before you had a chance to pay, or if you inadvertently didn't have enough money. Call you a thief and attack you. Later pokemon dungeon games modified his behavior to ensure there was no accidental thieving. If you didn't have enough money, the item just went back to the rug (or if you were pushed off or accidentally stepped off trying to move around something). Kecleon was pretty frickin' unfair enough as it was.
Also, if you were beaten by Kecleon, ALL the items you have on hand will be changed to PLAIN SEEDS! No effect!
@@christopherchasteen4990 In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, you lose every item that you have in your bag instead of getting plain seeds for every item you had
@@IslandofPets88 ,
Oof... still just as bad.
If you land on an Item Space in Mario Party 3 and you choose the first answer to Toad's question, he may say you're too greedy and he won't give you anything.
LOL @ 2:47 , the Solar Being part is hilarious, actually that whole screen is so funny
One thing, I actually have beaten Gus that early in Thousand-Year Door. I actually did the first time I played the game without even realizing it was supposed to be too soon and I did managed to win too.
The last one is easily beatable if you just switch it so your partner is in front to tank the damage with defend. Action commands are a must as well but it is very much achievable.
Well, Wario really only cares about garlic and gold.
Man’s got his priorities set straight.
I think I always took on Gus - and early, at that - because he didn't come off as legitimate or something like that.
I also don't remember ever losing to him, although he's not exactly a cakewalk either. Just time your guards/superguards right.
2:38 sakurai should put the "predator" and "coward" thing in ultimate lol
Some of the characters in Ultimate were made for camping and preying, if the game punished the player because of that, then they would stop using the character, and a rule in fighting games is that EVERY character must be good in its own way, so every character could be used by at least one person. So Sakurai had to stop doing that for Smash

@@Travistouchdown34 💀💀💀
In Smash you had -500 for Coward too, but didn't show its definition.
Iirc, Coward is for if you spend so much time not attacking (possibly not taking damage either)
4:34 this actually happens when you do not sell your turnips within a week - basically if you skip to the sunday after you bought your tunips, (you can only buy turnips on sundays) or forget to sell them by that sunday, they will become spoiled. if you change the system clock 1-6 days after you bought the turnips
Gus is relatively easy to beat in the prologue. I just buy fire flowers and have Goombella use em on her turn whilst I hammer.
I honestly believe it's just a skill issue if you can't beat gus in the prologue, hell you can probably beat him without items by putting goombella in the front and after using tattle just keep having her use defend because she can't attack in this fight with put getting hurt so what point is it to her defending in the back
I wasn't expecting the Smash Melee one lol
I remember forgetting to take my warp scarf off in Kecleon's shop and when I went to pay I got warped and considered a thief. I was far from the stairs so it became a survival horror.
Not only does the Shopkeeper in Links Awakening straight up kill you no matter how many hearts you have, but you are called "THIEF" instead of the name you put in when creating the savefile throughout the entire game the moment you _leave shop with an item by sneaking past Shopkeepers vision_
Also, in the DX version you will be *_photographed_* when you leave this way; the Mouse in charge for taking pictures of you will for once *_NOT_* show up in this instance though...
Hard battle with Gus, said almost no one ever, i probably always beat him before i even start the game
Concerning Melee, if you have an Unknown swarm or other attacking Pokémon active, and the high damage opponents keep getting launched into them, you'll still be called a Predator even though it was of no action of yours.
You beat Gus and he reprimands you players for always choosing "violence solve problems."
Playing Mystery Dungeon as a kid, I would steal from Kecleon all the time as long as I had a pure seed on me. Steal, eat seed, and be warped right to the stairs. Recently replayed Explorers of Sky, and I still did this. 😂
The Mabe Village shopkeeper in Link's Awakening would hate that.
This is the only way to recruit Kecleon and the full process is goldy absurd.
Gus can be a beginner's trap, but if you're an experienced gamer, he's easy as pie
In ACNH the turnips only spoil after 7 days, even if you don't time travel.
"Smash bros calls you a predator"
They knew.
In terms of Super Smash Bros. Melee, to avoid getting smacked by the Predator bonus, you pretty much have to always go after the fighter who has the least amount of damage. Unfortunately, if that very fighter is your own teammate, that could be a problem if friendly fire is not turned ON.
And yes, even in team battles, the game will punish you by smacking the Predator, Stalker, and Bully (if you make 3 KOs on a single opponent, but didn't KO anybody else) bonuses onto you, regardless of whether or not you only have one opponent.
I honestly didn’t find Gus that challenging. Just put Goombella in front and let her take hits and hammer away and badabing badaboom
Well Ganondorf being king of a thieves tribe... XD
Greed is one of the 7 Deadly Sins by the way.
Cool
No s**t. THE deadliest.
That's true

@@JoJoZaka Greed. Because it can get someone to throw ALL morality out the window for even a SLICE of it.
You forgot Star Fox Adventures when you try to bargin with the shopkeeper for a low price 3 times he’ll say “I don’t have time to deal with cheapskates, get out!”
What’s the music for the Gus battle?
You bought tirnips on my birthday! 😂
The Predator thing in Super Smash Bros Melee did NOT age well considering what the hell just happened to the Super Smash Bros community.
Is it that snake main stuff again?
@@airam1721 I was referencing on how in the past, a lot of players had serious allegations towards them.
And you often wonder why Brawl and beyond did away with bonuses completely.
Also to note. In links awaking. The AB start select trick doesn't work if you're offed by the shopkeeper, so if you want a zero de*th run, don't return afterward cause you can't savequit out of that de*th
Remember in Mario Strikers Charged how, if you turn the console off while playing a tournament match and turn it back on again, you'd get accused of cheating and be granted a loss?
You can actually bury the turnips and they won't spoil if you change the clock.
Interesting how one of the greediest companies in modern history punishes YOU for being greedy.
oh my gosh dang that feels a bit annoying but really cool how the game developers did that!
Fun fact: Shoplifting is (usually) the only way to befriend a Kecleon in most Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. However, it has the lowest recruitment rate of any Pokemon.
i fight gus early on anyway as its easy star points for me!!! i like that early boost in star points
TTYD music 👌
First one I think of is A Link Between Worlds. The cyclops keep giving you $ to keep his place a secret then gets mad and tries to kill you. 😅😅
in the tingle game, what does say 800 from mean?
what happens if you actually beat the keckleon merchant in that 2d pokemon game 3:52 (you didn't say the name of the game) i also wanted to see you jump on gus from paper mario because the description said "that pointy spear of his hurts of you stomp on it."
It's from the Explorer games on DS.
Also if you beat or run from Kecleon, more Kecleon will spawn. It's very hard to beat them, like you'd have to be at lv 100 at least to deal any serious damage from my experience. But even then, you'll eventually get overwhelmed since all Kecleon have a speed boost to them. And I think they disable your orbs so you can't even escape like that unless you take the stairs into the next floor.
And finally, they're also the hardest to recruit in game.
Also it's possible to have a Kecleon fight the enemy Pokemon. It actually happened to me once when a random Pokemon took all the item from Kecleon's shop with a thrawl orb, and when Kecleons were all over the place, they didn't even bothered me.
How could you forget about stealing from the bird shop in twilight princess!?!?
I link how in the Zelda game they literally give you a seizure for thieving !
Greed (actually) is one of the 7 deadly sins.
Idea: these Nintendo games punish you for cheating
Flareon could have gotten away with it if he was strong enough
That's gonna be hard... The Shopkeeper Kecleon is LV. 90. Level 90.... out of 100...
Agora sim, jogos que te punem ao fazer algo ruim.
In Link's Awakening, there's a similar scenario to that in Mystery Dungeon. When you pick up an item in the shop and leave , you can keep it without paying. However, the next time you enter the shop, the Shopkeeper one shots you and changes your name to THIEF permanently. EDIT : Oops didn't finish the video and just saw it mentioned
My issue with kecleon attacking you is no matter what level you are you hardly do any damage to him but he always does a boat load to you....50 with a base attack and you can hardly damage him with your moves
2:44 I didn’t know Nintendo referenced discord
the one with the turnips is because you skipped time for more than a week. you get an apt explanation about that on the furst imtroduction.

Stealing Items In The Legend Of Zelda Links Awakening Causes Insta Death
I’m not one of those people!
In pokemon mystery dungeon, if you try to escape, the Kecleon call the others Kecleons and will be so many that will be impossible to escape (and they are immortal)
What did you just say? Please repeat it with a whole rewording
In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, if you try to steal, multiple other Kecleons will appear to fight. They are NOT immortal, just obscenely strong.
The Gus fight isn't that hard. I beat it first try while still in the prologue
u know one time that Nintendo Bullys Kids And Teenagers In the 2001? 2:40
I can take down Gus pretty easily at the start of Thousand-Year Door :P

I don't know Gus isn't that difficult, he's easy with Koops and with blocking or a slightly stronger hammer he's easy. Or you could just parry everything but most beginners wouldn't do that.
Wait why was gus so hard to everyone i beat him with relative ease lol

It's mostly a skill issue, since newer players may end up struggling against an opponent that really isn't too difficult to overcome.

**cringe pfp and name of a character who's known to be greedy and selfish**
Seemingly, yeah. Now, can you get off internet, so this site is a better place, we don't want people like you here (I mean people who use names and pfp of a single fictional character and greedy people. Those kinds of people should never be welcome in the internet)
Chingatumae no se ingles
You explained the turnips in a really bad way here.
They will spoil anyway after 7 days, and you time traveled FORWARD past 7 days. They will however ONLY spoil if you turn BACK the time, even just a minute. You can go forward however much you like without them spoiling as long as it's under 7 days. So....that was kinda lame and gave a horribly wrong explanation
The smash one is pretty corny tho that’s just another way of playing the game it’s funny that they try to insult you for it
Setting the clocks backward also spoils turnips, even just a few minutes. Seeing so many people’s turnips get spoiled because of Daylight Saving ending while they were cheating by time traveling was absolutely glorious, and was well-deserved karma.

That predator thing is not in the game. The announcer was about to say “Computer player defeated” but was cut off.
It is in the game. It literally is shown on the results screen.
I thinks is a bad idea, because it's just a game. I think when games are punishing you for "greed", I think the developers are just taking the game too seriously.
I don't care if I get punished for being too greedy.
