    In the end, the key is to find a bike that makes you smile. Then ride it and smile. If you were smiling when you were riding, then that's the biz. Since for you it's an epic move - 1000's of videos on one bike - perhaps test ride everything you *might* also consider and that gets you a) more content; and b) takes all the speculation and guesswork out. I rode half a dozen bikes when I was moving up to my current bike - within 500 yards leaving the dealership I *knew* beyond a doubt that my current bike (8,800 miles into it now) was *THE* bike for me.

    • @ducatinyc
      @ducatinyc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that makes sense. Thats the feeling. Like you said, this bike is a huge part of this channel so the switch has to be done right. I know its a silly thing to concern myself with but I dont want to dissapoing ANYONE. :) I must testride a few other bikes first. Buying this 821 would be too easy.

    getting stuck behind that car reminded me of my commute this morning. slew of traffic stuck behind a wide load taking up both lanes. i split when i could and eventually found an opening to blast past the double wide. love being on a motorcycle!! also, if you want to look into something slightly older than this bike, look for a monster 796, slightly different look but the same power. im in love with the 796 and 1100 evo.

    @FunWithAJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You're absolutely right there is no need for more power than this bike. The Horsepower is well over 100. . The only thing this bike would need is better front adjustable forks. Otherwise it's sufficient for 95% of the riders. The only reasons youd want bigger engine is if you're a track rider or if you a
    have a small willy and want to over compensate.

    • @hemicuda75

    • @FunWithAJ

      @@hemicuda75 good points. My only issue with that one is that while it's called stealth, it's anything but stealthy lol. Not a fan of the grey and red pin stripping mixed into the bike. Wish they would have kept it matte or gloss black.

    • @ducatinyc
      @ducatinyc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, adjustable front would be a must, mirrors and a headlight and pipes too, and 109hp is MORE than enough. Stealth is nice but the graphics are not for me. Not at all. Id get sick of them. Quickshifter can be added for 300 to the other ones.

  • @HangarFour
    @HangarFour 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have ridden both the 821 and 1200R. Both on some nice and twisty roads so I could gauge them well for how I would normally use them. Both are really badass and the power is like nothing that you could ever hope for out of a stock air cooled Ducati. I completely agree about the need for so much power. There is only so much you need before to “easy to get in trouble” comes in. Haha That said, either one will easily check that box! The 821 is a good choice and the 1200 is also good, but I would go with a used 1200 for sure. You could probably pick up a lightly used one with a few aftermarket parts(exhaust(Termis are expensive!)) for about the same as a new stock 821. The other thing to factor is maintenance. The belts and valves are at 18,000 miles!! Dude... That is more than double on the air cooled stuff(valves)!! Modern bikes are not so bad!! Cheers buddy!
    cristobal_rtmoto

    • @ducatinyc
      @ducatinyc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yea the maintenance intervals are no joke. mine now are 6k which is criminal! I rode a 1200S and it was a handful. I couldn't keep it together on that one. Plus I love the new color TFT screen. I feel so so silly for wanting a new 821 for the tft but its part of it. Clearly my decision making is not rational.

    I have this exact model and year, the biggest thing I didn’t like is the throttle slop that is 1-3mm before actually engaging the throttle. Turns out there is a quick fix to this and it’s a Ducati spacer that someone made via third party. It’s $30 I believe and it completely takes up that slop and made the throttle much more responsive.

    • @ducatinyc
      @ducatinyc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any other issues with the bike? Any repairs? How many miles u got on that thing

    • @ns3v3n
      @ns3v3n 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve only had 3000 miles on this bike but other than the rear brake being mushy ( which Ducati issued a recall on recently and fixed under the recall) and the fuel sensor going out, bikes been good for the last three years. I did put some Roxie risers on mine to make it less sporty due to my wrists but that’s a personal preference. I also got my suspension tuned to my weight and that transformed how the bike turns. That was probably the best mod I’ve done beside the throttle spacer.

    @siammonkey9253 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I test rode it too. And dropped it right in the front of the shop. You'll see it in my video. hahaha
    It was a pretty fun bike and super easy to ride. But there are some things i did not liked. For sample the lame throttle response or the frame mounting points are where my knees always touched it. Also the look of the radiator and all these pipes i did not liked.
    So i went with a Monster 1100 EVO and i'm super happy with my choice. It has less BHP but more torque and it's air cooled too. I still keep my M900 and really enjoy to ride it sometimes. Yeah, it's nice to have 2 Monsters in the garage haha...
    Enjoy the ride and stay safe. Cheers from Thailand

    • @ducatinyc
      @ducatinyc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh damn! I'm sure they loved that! :P
      Hmmm, you thought throttle response was not there? I didn't find that. And perhaps at my height of 5'9" i found it comfy. Radiator sticking out I agree with, that cap too, it could have been tucked away more.
      I looked at the figures between 1100 evo and 821 and 821 has like 9 extra hp and 10 more torque.
      So at this point you have a 1100 and a 900, not bad at all.
      How has 1100 been reliability wise? Any issues? What year u got with how many miles?

    • @siammonkey9253
      @siammonkey9253 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ducatinyc Maybe it was just on my test bike. If i went off the throttle at the beginning of a curve and wanted to open it again there was a short time where the throttle did not respond or just slightly late. To be smooth in hairpins i kept the throttle open and adjusted more with the clutch same as i need to do with the M900 and the dry clutch. This problem i don't have with my M1100 EVO. Maybe it's just some settings to play with or because i got the performance ECU on my M1100 EVO with K&N filters and so on.
      The M821 is 180kg dry, 110 HP and 86 Nm of torque. The M1100 Evo has only 100 HP but 103 Nm of torque standard and it's only 166kg dry ;) Super light and super fun with a lot of torque.
      I rode the M900 all over Thailand. The bike itself is pretty reliable as long as you treat it well. Maintenance is key on Ducatis. If you skip it it will pay you back.
      The M1100EVO i own just about one year now. No issues yet. Just the normal wears on the belts, bearings and rubbers.
      I'm doing around 30'000km per year with commuting and some travelings.
      I got the 2013 model with 10'000 km. That was in December last year. I'm on 40'000 km now.
      I think the M821 sounds great, it has nice power and awesome brakes. I like that is has less plastic than the M1100EVO. But it's liquid cooled, and frame mounts really bothered me.
      What are you going with?

    The 1200 Monster puts out 147hp. The FTR1200 = 122hp. They are the same price. That makes the Indian overpriced until they can match the Duc pony for pony. That makes the Duc the better deal. More economical per pony. Who would have ever thought a Duc would turn out to be a good deal?

      I suppose they have the added value of being a product of Polaris Engineering / Swissauto Racing. These engines are going to last until we get old and die. Polaris now owns Swissauto. I was disappointed in the horsepower because they have had a little V4 engine for about a decade...it puts out 150-300hp depending on configuration. Their is a reason that Indian absolutely dominates dirt track racing with the 750FTR. thekneeslider.com/polaris-industries-and-swissauto-engines/

      Really? You had the 18? Damn. I'm kind of concerned with all the added modes and electronics - will make it a finiky bike.

      @@ducatinyc had it for less than a year I actually did not wanted to get rid of it but there was a point that the bike would just turn off all of sudden while driving.. freeway street doesn't matter dangerous stuff the lights would go crazy on the dash and completely loose power.
