One of the best explanations of why it charges slower at the top was that it's like filling a barrel of water, but... just spilling one drop would blow up the bucket. So when you start, you can pump in water as fast as it can take it, but as you get to the top, you will have to slowly fill up the barrel so not to splash or spill even one little bit.
Not a tesla owner here, but it makes a big difference to own a garage that has an AC cooler flowing in it. 8 years trouble free with my 4runner. It does wonders to not let the heat age your vehicle.
Great video. Where I live it's been about 105 for the past week. I've noticed that the back of the monitor gets super hot even when I have a sunshade in the windshield blocking it. It's amazing how much heat it can take without any issues (I hope).
It does! I was told that it can withstand heat really well, but if it’s crazy hot AND the sun is hitting it, that’s when issues may arise. Windshield shade is a must
I live in a desert city also near the Yuma, AZ border and it's been around 115 to 125 degrees outside in the last few weeks. My battery range has gone down big time during this Summer in both my 2023 Model 3 LR and 2022 Model Y LR. The range on the Model 3 went from 330 miles on a 100% full charge down to 318 miles. And on the Model Y, 303 miles on a 100% full charge to 287 miles. Could you do a video on your decrease in battery range since you own the same two Model Teslas. I'm interested in your findings. Thanks for the great videos!
How is Tesla's AC in this blistering July Vegas heat? If parked outside for an extended period (at least a couple hours) does the AC system get the car cold? I've heard it doesn't. Please share your experiences.
Good video and informative. Not sure why you are playing annoying background music during the narration of the data. Listen on headphones and you will get the idea.
What range do you get with this heat? my mate was saying he gets less than 105miles of range with 80% with standard rwd 2023, Ac around 72 on low.....he lives in arizona...I assume its similar conditions? Makes me question the reliability.
@@StevenRebello that’s pretty extreme! I have no idea, it depends. Definitely less, but maybe not that less. Reliability is amazing though. Ability to pre-cool the cabin from the app works every time
Do you turn on the Cabin Overheat Protection during the day? I'm a Tesla newbie, also in Vegas, and have trouble with the COP, it just doesn't turn on sometimes. I've read varying opinions on the use of COP, but would be interested in your thoughts as a fellow Vegas resident.
I’ve heard of a recent bug that makes it glitchy and not work sometimes. We don’t use it - it takes up too much battery in the summer. Without it the cabin gets up to 150 sometimes which is crazy but that’s a ton of work on the AC to keep that below 100!
Its been so hot these days in LV had to do supercharge today from 19% to 80% took 39mins 52kwh were added @ 50 cents/kwh. We were at the charging station 215 and Trop. Im guessing you guys were at the one near Rainbow?
Great video! I wonder whether using Out of Spec Kyle's trick of wrapping the handle and pouring water on it to cool it would have made a significant difference, or if the car's battery just couldn't keep cool enough in the heat and it wouldn't have mattered.
How you go from 0%-100% and only pay $18.75. Me going from from like 10%-80% usually pay like $22 going to 100% im usually paying like $25. Other day in North Las Vegas I went from 9%-75% and was charging super slow at 43kW and paid $16.20 freaking sucked big time.
This is the charger at arroyo crossing in the SW part of town. It’s one of the cheaper ones at 26 cents per kWh. We ain’t making that kind of money on TH-cam to go to a 51 cent kWh charger for this video 😂
I love stats and Tesla's so great idea and video. Your 71.7 kwh charge is below the 75 kwh capacity (I assume that is your's) so I guess that is from battery degradation. Also if your your super charger rate is $0.26 during day time charging that is pretty low. In San Diego where I'm at it's $0.52 per kw.
Thank you! We have some 0.51 cent kWh chargers here, this is one of the cheaper ones around town. I’m not making that much money off TH-cam yet, we’re going to the cheaper charger for this 😂
Heat has been crazy charge at home which usually 48A guessing because of heat lately has been only going at 24A so what normally took 4-5 hours for full charge now taking 12-14 hours :-( Other day was at a Supercharger in North Vegas and didn’t get over 45 kW freaking sucked.
Yeah! I’ve heard of that happening. I guess people recommend industrial grade installation, whatever that means, for home charging to get peak rates during ridiculous heat

Elon had a good analogy awhile ago. It’s like a giant parking lot. Easy to find spots at first, but once it fills up, it takes awhile to find a spot.

I might be wrong, but it takes about the same time to get from 0 to 80% = 80% to 100%. This is kinda true for us consuming food too!
That sounds about right! Always hard to answer when someone asks “how long does it take to full charge” knowing that
@@vegasteslafamily Depending on conditions (obviously you’ve proved that), you can add 80% in about 25 minutes

18 dollars… I’m sold!!!!!
Haha! You should see the at-home rates 😭
Last month, supercharger in Virginia Beach costs 41¢ per kwh and home electricity 18¢ . This month home electricity in Maryland went to 20¢ per kwh.
Dang! Those are some of the more expensive at home rates I’ve seen. Any sort of off peak hours?

@@steelersbxl yeah, we kinda touched on it in this video, but depending on how many miles you have on each, that seems like normal degradation.
