SHUT UP TOAD
HELP ME😱😱😱
Blaze being acknowledged in a princess talk is nice, she's the only one who doesn't wear a crown yet still respected as a princess. But then again she has pyrokinesis and forehead gem which substitutes the crown as a symbol for princess
Sonic doesn’t wear a crown either, Sally is also a princess and seems to only wear a crown in the comics at times, same with sonic at times, well only in the comics, crazy to think his a prince
About Blaze being in 06: one of the game's writers Shiro Maekawa said that 06 was initially supposed to connect to Rush, meaning Blaze was originally from the future but was reborn in another dimension after sealing herself. Unfortunately, Sonic Team seems to have retconned this into "Blaze was originally from the Sol Dimension and everyone got amnesia in 06", which makes less sense than Maekawa's explanation.
Lucina is a princess, yet she's the one who's saving the protagonist instead
I really enjoyed Blaze in Rush. There's a fun contrast in the character with fire powers being a bit of an ice queen and even though the whole "power of friendship" motif happens a lot in media, it works well for this character who, due to her responsibility, closed herself off to not only others but also her emotions only to have those walls broken down by the people in the Chaos dimension.
Talking about princesses, makes me wish for a Princess Daisy game.
You know what puzzles me? It's always kings and princesses, but rarely, if ever, queens and princes. They might as well not exist in pop culture depictions of monarchy with how infrequent they are.
One notable game that has this dynamic would be Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, with Queen Bean and the Bean Prince, neighbors of the Mushroom Kingdom where Peach rules. Or the more recent Mario Wonder with Prince Florian.
Fire Emblem Engage also had queens and princes but they also went with different combinations for its four main kingdoms: a Queen+Prince and Princess… twice, King+Two Princes, King+Two Princessses, and lastly, Queen+whatever your avatar is. So I wouldn't be willing to count it among the rare games with queens and princes (even though it has some!) because it just tried a lot of combinations and notably forgot King+Prince and Princess
isn't it kinda weird that he immediately writes off Super Princess Peach as a spinoff so its not very important only to congratulate Peach on getting her own game with Princess Peach: Showtime like 30 seconds later, despite it being a spinoff?
I like Blaze the most out of everyone here, cause her being a princess contrasts Sonic's free spirit. They match and contrast each other in a few ways, its pretty well done
they should make a mainline sonic game where sonic, blaze and knuckles are playable
call it Sonic Earth, Wind and Fire
oh wait
Okay I'm goes to use your ideas for a fangames ^^
I feel like the concept of princesses who can't fight physically is deeply misunderstood. It's something storytellers either forgot to write or audiences just didn't pay attention.
Being a princess isn't a fighting tournament, it's a political position. They might not have physical strength, but they do have the power to change a country to their like. They're so important and they get kidnapped exactly because of their political position and power. Right now I can't think of examples, but I feel like their true concept has been highly neglected.
But think of Loki when he says: "I have an army"
Realistically, princesses don't need to fight, they have an army. Literally.
The game manual (I don't know how it's called exactly) for Super Mario Bros. says that Bowser turned every villager of the Mushroom Kingdom into a block and Peach is the only person who can make the spell from Bowser undo. And because of this Peach ged kidnapped all the time.
Even in the 80s we had princesses that struck out on their own, neglected their duties, and chose to be firebrands. It’s normal by now for them to not worry about their political powers. In fact, it creates an interesting conflict. Risk your life for your kingdom, the selfish option, or ignore your want for adventure. One option is more compelling depending on who you ask.
the problem is doing that is "sexist" now, even though people would be praised for writing a prince like this...
@@MittChPlayFair enough
Unless it is a hereditary position you mean, at which point they very possibly have no political strength either and instead act more as a figurehead. You see this FAR more with princes than you do with princesses, when you see the "spoilt brat prince who can't do anything himself and tries to fuck over the protaganist because he doesn't like them".
You always see sexist get thrown around with stuff like this but honestly, both princes and princesses tend to be written equally poorly, its just that princesses tend to get written as "can't do anything by themselves" and princes get written as "obnoxious arseholes". Big double standard really.
I really like what their doing with Peach, letting her go on more adventures rather than having her kidnapped. Especially when it leads to nothing but a "secondary goal".
At least Blaze was in Sonic Colors lol.
Specifically the version that matters. The DS one.
I’d like a Zelda game where Princess Zelda is the main playable character (made by Nintendo).
Will they call it Legend of Link?
In a Gender swap universe it would be the Legend of Zeldo.
Kind of shocked you didn't even mention Princess Daisy from Super Mario or Princess Sally from Sonic the Hedgehog. Also, would Rosalina count as a princess?
Sally is not technically a video game character tho, sure she is a sonic character but she has never officially appeared in a game
I believe Nintendo has referred to Rosalina as a princess in one of her profiles.
@@SkatingJellyfish If we of course discount Sonic Spinball and the Cancelled SATAM Sonic game.
Sally is from a show not a Sonic spin off game.
Nintendo has brainwashed people into thinking that peach is the only Mario princess anyone cares about.
This topic is great. Even if I'm not the biggest fan of Princess in general many of my favorite characters are princesses (especially Peach, Blaze and some others) but it has nothing to do with them only being a princess. Another type which could be interesting is a princess which was a princess at the beginning and became a queen later (in a game or later in other games). My favorite character of this type is Celica from Fire Emblem Gaiden/Echoes. Even if I never played this game I love her because of what I've heard so far. She's also one of my top 3 characters of all time and I can't wait to finally play Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
*shows Spirit tracks Zelda*
*Doesn't mention that she's playable when discussing playable Zeldas*
Respect the best Zelda 😤
A princess that I hold to a high standard when creating your usual Ditzy, Kind and Naive archetype is Princess Nina from the Breath of Fire series.
Grew up playing the series and I have always enjoyed every iteration and her adventures with Ryu. The 2nd and 4th one being my favorite
hell yeah princess remedy mention
This is an awesome subject for a video I have to say. Princesses in video games seem to have quite a lot of range
When you were talking about Blaize from the Sonic franchise - missed opportunity to talk about _The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog_ .
Sure, she wasn't that major of a character in that game, but - hey, it's a game worth talking about.
Super Princess Peach enjoyers, where you at? 🗣️🔥
Me! It's a guilty pleasure of mine
Man, it’s quite surreal to see Peach as a damsel in one game and a butt kicking heroine who can fight threats even greater than Bowser in the next. She sure has one hell of a resume. XD
Especially when her main line of defense is two plumbers who jump high and a few subjects with actual backbone.
@@Mymy_Gaming_channel_64They are not normal plumbers.
@@INFERNO95 And Bowser isn't a normal king. Still doesn't change the fact that he has an army and weapons of mass destruction at his disposal and a kingdom surrounded by lava and guarded. Peach could at the very least have some line of security besides 4 people like a forcefield or maybe a Wiggler as a guard dog.
I find that a series that does the whole "princess but a hero" thing the best is Fire Emblem. Characters like Lucina and Celica are huge parts to the story and fight along side the other units. They also have cool backstories and are well-made characters.
Celica end up making a big mistake and is oversharowed by Alm who unify the kingdom and is the one wielding the sword to kill the big bad while she fight some pirats
Captains in pop culture.
Captain:
America
Planet
Falcon
& more
Keep up the good work man, I was watching you at 1k subs and look how far you’ve come!
What about Princes from Video Games next? 1:20
Prince of Persia
love your channel bro, love to see you on the come up
Long Live the Queen is a really fun game, definitely a surprise gem
Blaze being in the thumbnail and video made me want to go back to playing the Rush games again. She was just AWESOME
Now Princess Zelda, shes the GOAT. to me
Oh man Kiro Talks bringing back my long lost memories of playing sonic rush on my ds back on Christmas
I don't know anything about Kingdom Hearts but did they really recast Alice as a 'princess' that needs saving? She is the protagonist of her own story.
So sad how little blaze has been used in all this time. What a waste.
5:55 I was really excited to see Link and Zelda work together in TOTK, and see them build a close bond, but then they just rehashed the plot from BOTW instead. BOTW ended with such a great setup for a sequel, but they wasted it. I thought we were going to get really good character development, but we didn’t.
I love your videos 😅
I would've loved to see this guy talk about kumatora from mother 3
Princesses are great to get saved in RPGs. So I love princesses by default by becoming a common plot device in my fav genre which are JRPGs
8:04 Hey! You can't say that, she participated in the Olympic Games!
Capcom's princess devilotte comes mind for me, she was just an assist in mvc, but she was playable as a pilot in the cyberbots game
"Easily one of the oldest, debuting nearly 40 years ago in 1985."
I come here for great videos on interesting topics, not these violent attacks on my reality. ;)
good video
A lot of people probably won't play Disgaea but princess Rosalin daughter of the games big bad overlord zenon from Disgaea 2
Princesses and even race queens went from objects to fully fledged characters, this shift helped the world not shit on games for well, just that!
Surprised Kitana From Mortal Kombat and Lucina from Fire Emblem didn't even get as much as a mention.
kairi: *im a princess though*
Um just wanted to say, everything before the N64 she was refer to as Princess Toadstool. It wasn’t until Super Mario 64 her name changed to Peach.
thank you for highlighting super paper mario, what an underrated masterpiece!
Hi Kiro! I have a video request: Guide characters in video games. I don't know if this is what they're officially called, but they're basically characters who help you and guide you through the game. An example of this would be Paimon from Genshin Impact
Love me a good princess
Please talk about video game glizzies
Princess Elise is a good character if she isn't Sonic's love interest.
Speaking of Princess...I like Princess Pride from Megaman battle network 2. She's so pretty 😍
And she's technically a princess because she has her own kingdom.
Um dos poucos cliches que nunca perdem a graça
Has everyone forgotten sonic underground 🎸🎹🥁🎤🎶🎵👩🏽🎤 the Royal family 💫👑 (I don't care if it's not canon, is canon too me 😤😤😤😤)
Wonder why Tikal was never mentioned 😅
I forgot blaze was a princess 🥲
0:44 1996 not 1995
peach is mine
Hey man I hope you see this but I feel like I've been getting shadow banned from your vids I couldn't even find your channel when I searched it up I had to go to my subscriptions it's just sad your a TH-camr I enjoy watching it's just I can't find you easily
I don't know if this might be a decline in your views but maybe that's why
This video didn’t have a thesis, I don’t know what you were trying to say. U just listed princesses. Would be nice to have some theme or point to the video in the future.
Dude what are you, his teacher?
Honestly princess Elise is not too bad as a character it's just the execution of her character that wasn't perfect
Where am I
They're alright. Kinda cute but nothing that crazy.
I oppose Princesses joining combat, if they die or seriously get injured, who will lead there country or land? When a Princess fights, i find it very irresponsible.
ya plus they r wemin and wemin cant fite this hole strong female thing is so woke its discusting im tired and remember when game good and not political females only exist to be saved clean house and have kids they need to stop thinking they girlboss
FR and they are always the only child in the royal family.
