NINTENDO Princesses: Good to Evil 👑
When you hear the word “princess”, most people immediately go to Disney and their plethora of princesses. However, princesses are just as much of a staple in video games as they are in animation, and Nintendo’s lineup of princesses are still popular enough to give Disney’s a run for their money. From classics such as Peach and Zelda to more niche characters such as Caeda and Melia, Nintendo has no shortage of princesses at their disposal. Which begs the question: how do all these regal ladies stack up in terms of morality? It’s time to rank these women of Nintendo royalty to see who is the most noble, and who is the most wicked.

And, there you have it. I've been asking 1UPBinge to these Request Videos for some time.
The main problem with a list of zelda's is that most barely have any differences in some iterations and some barely do anything important.
I'm surprised Rosalina's storybook wasn't mentioned, it literally shows how selfless she is by putting her own life aside in order to help a lost star child find his mother. She built an entire shelter for a countless number of Lumas, provides each of them with entertainment, emotional support and homemade baked goods. It actually makes sense why she's unable to help Mario more, being a mother of one child can already be a full-time job, imagine taking care of hundreds. and the dialogue from every Luma regarding Rosalina is always positive, which shows just how good she truly is.
That may be true, but Rosalina eventually got the powers if a goddess who could bend all time and space. She should have been able to beat Bowser on her own without Mario's help.
She can't be that powerful.
Her magic heavily relies on the use of power stars, which is why she needed Mario to help her gather them. If she did have the ability to "bend all time and space" the loss of her family wouldn't have left as great of an impact on her emotionally, because she'd simply be able to bring them back, same goes for defeating Bowser. We can't know exactly what she's capable of, but we can see that she has limitations.
@@awkweirdork She can't quite do it to her will, but she can reset the space-time continuum. She did it in the end if the 1st Mario galaxy where she is waving her wand as the screen fades out. Also, Power Stars are literally just matured Lumas, and some really old official websites that used to exist back in 2007 also said that she created the Grand Stars using a mere fraction of her power.
She also has a magic barrier that makes her immune to all of Mario or Bowser's attacks combined with also being more than capable of keeping up with the Mario Bros in platforming.
I just watched the ending of Super Mario Galaxy, to refresh my memory, and it can be interpreted in many different ways. I didn't see Rosalina waving her wand around to reset the space-time continuum, however, I did see Lumas sacrificing themselves, perhaps as a final attempt to save the Mario cast. but if it was Rosalina's doing, as you claim, then she actually did something to help, which makes her good. I know power stars are matured Lumas, which again goes to show how powerful Lumas are, but not necessarily Rosalina herself. The only time her magical barrier has appeared to protect her, has strictly been from Mario jumping on her, but Bowser is never seen coming in direct contact with Rosalina, so it's impossible to know if it'd be strong enough to handle him. I wish I could find that website from 2007, but even if she did create grand stars using a mere fraction of her power, it still doesn't tell us a whole lot, because all they've been shown to do is fuel her Comet Observatory.
Thank you! Rosalina may not do much in Mario Galaxy in terms of combat and helping Mario, but we have to remember that she's the mother of literally hundreds of Lumas. She definitely had her hands full with looking after them. While she's not the perfect space guardian, she is far from lazy.
At least Peach's driving doesn't count against her. She's pretty vicious in Kart
Regardless of her morality I will always love Midna. If I get a female cat, I will name her Midna.
Ok, so for Eirika, she doesn’t marry Ephraim. Her paired ending with him just says she works with him to help repair Rineas and gave hope to those ravaged by the war, and Heroes completely shuts down them being love interest. For Edelgard, she actually doesn’t force her father off the throne, and cares a lot about him, and pretty much ask him, and wants to take that stressful burden off him because she’s seen how much he struggles even though she was the one physically tormented. Lastly for Peach and Rosalina, I do think Peach needs to be higher up, and I think Rosalina because the way she treats her Luma’s and Mario really shows how kind she is, and even more so in her stories shows just how kind she is.
I would've put Rosalina, Daisy and Peach in the opposite order shown. Rosalina - out of all the Mario characters - has to be one of the ones with the best morals..
Rosalina is the love of my life. Just like Smash bros characters: good to evil, I'm surprised to see her in the gray area. She's way nicer than Peach. She protects the cosmos and she is a wonderful mother to the lumas. She is the purest and nicest princess I've ever met, and I love her. ❤
As for Princess Peach, on the other hand, she is, to put it the nicest way possible, she is a missed opportunity because even if she were still told to fight back to protect herself, she would still get kidnapped (not even my only problem

In my humble opinion, I would switch Peach and Rosa’s placing on the video. I’m starting to feel like Peach is holding the writers at gunpoint if they don’t say good things about her. She deserves all the hate she gets on the internet.
At least Rosalina isn’t a stereotypical representation of blond pink young women because she has a more mature and less annoying voice which is to be expected from most Mario characters.

In defense of Rosalina's inaction... She has a job. Sure, she's one of the most powerful characters in the Mario universe, but she has a job she must keep her attention on: caring for the Lumas until they become what they were meant to be, be it stars, planets, or many other objects throughout the universe.
Melia having a tragic back story is an UNDERSTATEMENT
Rosalina should be number 1 most good. First she saved the Lumas from extinction. In Mario Galaxy she must have been nurturing the hurt Lumas back to full health and looking for Bowser’s hideout, which was who knows how many light years away, and Rosalina along with the Lumas she RAISED, fixed the universe after a super massive black hole nearly destroyed it. Also, in Mario Plus Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, she literally sacrificed herself for her thousands of children so Cursa couldn’t hurt them. Does this sound like to most mortal character ever to you? It does to me.

Here's my stance on Edelgard. As a disclaimer, Edelgard is my favorite character in Fire Emblem despite this view.
First of all, it is established that she did NOT force her father to get off the throne.
Secondly, I see Edelgard as a villain too. She's definitely not the most evil villain in the series (or Three Houses for that matter), but it's hard to deny she makes some bad choices. As mentioned in this video, she assumed the role of the Flame Emperor, manipulated and backstabbed her fellow students, and started a war that could've been avoided by simply talking it out with Rhea. Even if it didn't work, she could've at least tried first.
Lastly, I think people calling her goals absolutely good don't realize the implications. She wants to create a world where an individual's talents are recognized instead of titles or status. That's great and all, but it will ultimately amount to the strong dominating the weak yet again. By this logic, this plan has actually been attempted by another FE villain: Ashnard. Yet, I don't see anybody defending him.
It really goes to show how much perspective alters others' views on a character.
Edelgard still feels morally grey albeit close to evil. She has good motives, but low class methods. And actually, she was mostly brainwashed into thinking what she's been doing is right. Adrestrian Emperors have been fed propaganda by Those who Slither in the Dark for generations about Nemesis being a good ruler. While The Church of Seiros did indeed tell quite a few lies, even their lie about Nemesis is closer to the truth than the Adrestrian one. Had she known he was just a common thief in the first place and that the 10 Elites were actually allies of of Nemesis who opposed Seiros, Edelgard probably would have fought for the good.
And even Cindered Shadows allegedly paves the way for a Golden Route, since Jeralt and Edelgard essentially learn the full truth about Rhea from the beginning in that route. And Jeralt could be on the road of never getting killed by Kronya (An action Edelgard never supported in the first place) And also seems to have less of a reason to even start a war in the first place. Thales' plan could have been crushed before the timeskip following Cindered Shadows.
Being physically attractive tremendously helps for sure. Look at DIO (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) and Griffith's (Berserk) fanbases.
She's female so there's alot of Bias even though she's a horrible person. Edelgard fans are relentless if you say anything bad about her.

Ngl I feel like characters like Pauline or even Agitha should get an honorable mention, as even tho they may not be considered official princesses (even tho Agitha is theorized to be actual royalty that was secluded for her 'uniqueness') they should still be considered honorable princesses, like how Mulan or Moana are considered Disney Princesses even tho they dont have that specific title in their movies. Also Pauline is basically the equivalent of a princess, I mean she rules over her City like a princess would rule her Kingdom lol. Also the fact that Super Mario Run is the only other mainline appearance of Daisy makes me wish for more as she has great potential for her own fleshed out story lol

But in execution, Luigi has a much healthier relationship with women than Mario because the former is more into strong, competent women like Daisy and Rosalina than passive-aggressive damsels in distress like Peach and Classic Pauline)

Zelda villains: Hilda is the least evil.
She’s the only Zelda villain to be a princess. It was pretty predictable. So, is she the evilest Zelda princess? Yes. Is she a major antagonist? Yes. Is she the evilest Zelda villain? No.
And Zelda's the bronze good
This list is flawed since Rosalina has no bad qualities she is not a grey area character. And Hilda redeemed herself so she doesn't deserve to be in the bad category.

Not to mention they are hawt (but then again, so are all Nintendo princesses with the exception of Styla and especially Shroob (mainly from the inside. Sure, unlike Peach, she’s not a sloth like Sid. How is Peach more good than Rosalina? And how is Rosalina in the grey area?
Rosalina is one of the purest characters in the Mario series. She’s a lot smarter than her, calmer than her and does a lot more than her. Peach doesn’t know how to protect herself after all this time, sometimes a crybaby and rejected Mario in Odyssey. Rosalina is actually able to do something, she helps Mario and guides him, gives him powers and she looks after her lumas. Not to mention she just generally seems to be a lot nicer than Peach or Daisy too. I would’ve put Rosalina somewhere in the top

Eirika (pronounced like “Erika”) doesn’t marry Ephraim. This was addressed in Heroes by a conversation you can have with Ephraim. Their paired ending does not imply marriage.

@@darkdragonmedeus705 I get it wouldn't have been the first incest thing in the series (Arvis and Deidre in FE4 obvs, plus some glitches and the Oosawa manga's take on Eldigan and Lachesis, i suppose Roy and Lilina technically count as well depending on who you interpret their mothers to be) but it's still messed up that people would come to conclusions like that so easilly.
@@robmacher3253 Ninian is implied to be Roy's canon mother based on Marcus' support conversations with Lilina. She was described as a fragile but kind women was had no chance of lasting very long, which fits Ninian's description quite easily.
But I agree, Sacred Stones was released during the E-rated era of Fire Emblem. Besides, their pair up is clearly more brotherly/sisterly and Asexual.

Personally I would switch Peach and Rosalina’s spots in the ranking video. At least Rosalina doesn’t constantly get captured a lot of times and helps out with Mario.
I would have moved Melia up 2 spots and give her the Silver medal. Likewise, I would have put Edelgard higher than Hilda, she actually would have had a less body count compared to Hilda. Also, she is oblivious to the fact that Adredtian Emperors have been lied to for generations about Nemesis is another motivator. Pretty sure she would have sided with the Church had she known the full truth from the beginning.
Lower body count? Just because the enemy soldiers are nameless NPCs doesn’t mean they don’t count among her kill count.

With Daisy joining the roster of Super Mario Wonder and being one of 6 character themed Wristbands at Super Nintendo World, I have a feeling that this chipper princess has a bright future.

I'd also love to see a Starfox Good to Evil list. I don't know everything about the characters, but I think this is how some of them might line up.
Upper Good: James McCloud, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad, ROB 64, Fox McCloud, Krystal
Lower Good: General Pepper, Falco Lombardi
Grey Area: Dash Bowman
Bad: Wolf O Donnell, Leon, Andrew, Panther, Venomian Army
Evil: Pigma Dengar, Aparoids, Andross
What about the Star Fox, adventures characters? I'd say Tricky would be in the upper good & of course General Scales would be in the evil area, not sure if any of the other characters should be in the list
I would swap Andrew with Panther and Andross with the Aparoids (the Queen had less resources than Andross, yet stood out to be arguably more heinous. She’s even considered to be a hate sink).
You should have mentioned Princesses Zethia and Zena from Dragalia Lost.
Maybe they didn't included them because they are not as iconic as the ones we already know.

I think Wendy O. Koopa (as Kootie Pie Koopa in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3) should not only be in the red area, but she should also apologize to Sonic the Hedgehog for hitting her with a Piko-Piko Hammer for insulting her femininity even though she set negative stereotypes for women.
I think Wendy is just a high ranked General for Bowser's Troops along with the other Koopalings.

Yes some of these lists can be a little inconsistent, like the Good to Evil list for Paper Mario characters/villains & Super Mario villains (which includes Paper Mario villains)
Daisy and Rosalina should’ve been on the good tier Rosalina protects a whole galaxy and stars and daisy actually loves Luigi and hardly ever gets kidnapped peach on the other hand is beyond awful to Mario and gets kidnapped a million times and what kind of princess would just leave Mario and bowser stranged in the middle of nowhere Mario deserves so much better I understand that peach was uncomfortable with Mario and bowser bribing her to marry her but seriously she should had told them why she rejected them I ship Mario with Rosalina peach belongs in the lowest spot on the gray list

In my humble opinion, Rosalina and Peach should switch places on the ranking list. At least Rosa cares about Mario’s safety. Peach can go burn in hell alongside the loyal subjects who died for her. She deserves all the hate she gets on the internet.
Would Mario, even with his (possibly) good hearing be able to hear her tell him to go with her (while keeping her on the moon) or buy that she really means it when she can’t not know she was leaving him on the same moon as Bowser (heck, despite being known by Super Mario Wiki, 1upBinge! and other people for “never holding a grudge against Bowser despite the times he kidnapped her”), this is not an example at all.
These are indeed reasons why Rosalina and Daisy are more underappreciated than Peach besides making a lot less appearances reduced to spin-offs (heck, they didn’t appear in even Super Mario Odyssey 1, and yes, SMO is getting a sequel).

I don’t argue that Edelgard is on the bad category but I would argue that she is 1 step over the line of grey. I argue that Hilda is actually a grey character because her actions are born of a desire to prevent the imminent destruction of her kingdom and the death of her people, and while stealing the triforce would eventually doom Hyrule to a similar fate as lorule the fact is that Hyrule would decay over centuries much like what happened to lorule buying a lot of time before either kingdom is destroyed
As for Edelgard her three houses counterpart I would put in the bad category while her three hopes version I would put in the morally grey area. Yes she did start a war that engulfed the continent but well…..the church is a really bad organization, through the events of three houses and it’s dlc cindered shadows we see the church is just as manipulative and controlling as those who slither in darkness.

Obscurify the fact that faith magic (healing magic) is not actually tied to the study of their religion ( effectively making the church the only functional way for people to get any medical treatment on the continent)

Also did I forget to mention that the church is willing to perform experiments on infants in the hopes of turning one of them into the vessel to revive their dead god…….that last one in videogame is typically associated with the motivations of the VILLIANS of a story
Now why three hopes edelgard is grey and not evil is because well, first chance she gets she completely drops those who slither in darkness and tries to arrest/kill them, she shifts from having the war be about eliminating the church to eliminating the church leadership preserving the church through a new archbishop (granted I know a lot of people will say that it’s just a mouth piece for edelgard to control people through faith, my counter is……..that is literally what Rhea was doing for generations)
In regards to "performing experiments on infants to revive their dead god", that's abhorrently wrong. Rhea created Sitri in the hopes that she could do the job, but when Sitri was dying in childbirth as well as Baby Byleth, it was *SITRI* who begged and pleaded with Rhea to put the Crest Stone in Byleth's heart to save them. Rhea didn't want it. *SITRI* did.
Edelgards fans can't accept that she's in the wrong lol. Even in 3H they made her a route even though she clearly was the villain. That's why her route is so short and unfinished.

@@SyLuX636 I wouldn’t call her route in 3 hopes the villian route, in 3 houses yes but 3 hopes not so much, she is without a doubt morally grey in 3 hopes but every faction (including dimitri) has problems with the church and how it runs things. Dimitri knows the church has many flaws but doesn’t think his people would be able to accept abandoning its teachings. Even as the direct son of the king he requires the church to recognize him as king otherwise his people won’t
Claude agrees with pretty much everything edelgard says he just doesn’t trust her (he even fights the church at the end of 3 hopes in both his and edelgards route)
I would argue in terms of morality of the 3 lords it is Claude then dimitri, then edelgard

I have a bit to say about Anthea and Concordia's ranking. First off, just because they're affiliated with Team Plasma. Doesn't automatically mean they're bad. Second, there was nothing bad that they did. At least in my opinion. Keep the opinion part in mind for anyone reading this. Finally, they've done mostly good. So in my opinion, I think they more than deserve a decently high spot in the good tier.
Zelda having bronze could easily be explained with one thing, OoT's zelda sending link back in time with the Ocarina of Time (lol), causing the split. If he would've just done it himself with the master sword, he could've wiped the future completely.

midna and hilda should be higher on the list. And yes I get that everybody's going to start trolling me, but they both risk their life to save a kingdom outside their own. For example near the end of A Link Between Worlds Hilda changes her motives and saves links life as he attempts to defeat Yuga. On the other hand midna even goes as far as to Warp link and Zelda to Hyrule Field so that they don't have to watch her attempt to defeat Ganon in his Godly form. In the end she sacrifices her life and only when you defeat Ganon in one-on-one combat in Hyrule Field do the light spirits resurrect her most likely because they saw her good deeds towards the hero. And yes these two characters originally had evil intent, but in the end they had attempted to save Both Worlds outside of their own. For example Hilda had plans to steal the Triforce from Hyrule to save her own kingdom. And midna forces servitude from Link in order to go through own agenda. But in the end they both sacrifice something to help a kingdom outside their own. And Bandit games has an excellent Theory called," is midna dead?" if you will please watch this Theory it will prove that at least midna didn't deserve to be put lower on this list.

That's because she was folded and controlled by Olly. Also, she barely appeared in the game.
She was also possessed as Shadow Queen in The Thousand Year Door, which, in my humble opinion, is as strong as any other Paper Mario game except for the ones in the 2010s.
