If you're looking to play Danganronpa, just a disclaimer: it's *WILD.*
Spoilers:
kill
If you’re looking to play ace attorney, just a disclaimer: it’s WILD.
If you're looking to play LA Noire, just a disclaimer: it's okay and has its moments but it's pretty much what you probably expect.
It's wacky, completely messed up, and explicit at times, but it's also the best gameplay and story the genre has to offer in my opinion
@@dazza2350Ace Attorney
Love how L.A Noire lives in a fantasy world where traffic in Los Angeles is clear. 😂
I mean it was the 1940s. From pictures that I have seen of LA in the 1940s there's a tiny bit more traffic than in the game but the streets for the most part were mostly clear with minimal traffic.
@@Gatorade69 Thanks for ruining the joke
@@Sly88Frye Doubt it was a joke.
@@Sly88Fryewhat joke?
@@Sly88Frye man, you got owned! haha
I'm so happy to see someone giving Danganronpa its flowers. Its a franchise I absolutely LOVE and it never gets celebrated as much as it should
Seems like more and more people are talking about it. Like I haven't played it but like three years ago or so I started seeing it being mentioned a lot more by various people on websites/forums and more TH-cam creators talk about it or mention it.
@@Gatorade69 It's definitely starting to gain a bit more steam than when it first came out, that's for sure. I played it for the first time about 9 years ago just before Danganronpa 2 came out and back then absolutely nobody knew what I was talking about 😂 It's great to see it finally gaining momentum and being recognised for the absolute banger of a franchise it is
The first one was amazing. Genuinely one of the top 10 best games I've ever played. Was wholeheartedly disappointed by the tedious nature of Dangan 2.
If you're that happy about Danganronpa maybe give Spike Chunsoft's new game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. May help give you itch that scratch in 2023
Recently, Danganronpa's spiritual successor launched and it's pretty great. It's even more wild than the Danganronpa trilogy, as much with its humor as it is with its story and murder cases. For anyone who may want to look for it, it's called Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE
I finally got around to wrapping that up and yeah, I enjoyed it (and think more people should play it). The cases are interesting and engaging and I like the characters
While I haven't bought the full game yet, juging by the demo, Ghost Trick is an amazing and quirky game. It's made by the creator of the Ace Attorney series and brings possession and time travel into a whodunnit story.
plz everyone buy this game, it's so good and supporting more shu takimi games is always a good thing!
It's seriously fantastic, even if some puzzles are a little too esoteric the a ha moments are crack
I played the nds version
If you liked these here are some other great detective games:
Return of the Obra Dinn
Umineko: When They Cry
The Case of the Golden Idol
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code
Disco Elysium and The Wolf Among Us are great too if you count those as detective games.
mda raincode is from danganronpa developers but good to talk about zero escape and TWEWY
Disco Elysium is a detective game but not a mystery game
Don't forget Judgment & Lost Judgment those are so good detective games.
Yeah the Wolf Among Us is a weird one. I have Disco Elysium so I'll check that one out as well. Rain Code is on my list to play at some point in the future. I've heard of Umineko but I'm not too familiar with the series. The Case of the Golden Idol is another one I've only heard bits and pieces about. Ghost Trick just got a remaster so that's an excuse to check that one out.
I would count Disco Elysium. I mean you do play as a cop and it starts out with you having to solve a murder (and also figure yourself out).
I think Judgement is a really nice detective game as it has the unique position of slotting into a already established universe (the yakuza or like a dragon series as its now called) while establishing itself as a unique entry. It has all the quirks of a yakuza game while managing to give its main character yagami a distinct personality and a distinct supporting cast. It also serves as a stark contrast to being a yakuza in games before it and serves to tie in nicely to the overarching plot of said games.
I'll definitely look into those games at some point. I do already like Yakuza.
Was really bummed Judgment wasn't mentioned. It and Lost Judgment are masterclasses in detective games.
Just got into Ace Attorney recently and the whole experience has been super charming. Ive always wanted to play them all but never got the chance to until recently. The characters, world, story and just...everything is super cool
Masafumi Takada going for rave music for Dangan makes sense, he did the same thing in killer 7 and No More Heroes.
Let me name some more for you-
1.Your turn to die
2.shinrai
3.exile election
4.tyrion cutthbert
5.master detective archives raincode
6.paranormasight
7.Hotel dusk
8.Ghost trick
9.zero escape
10.proffeser layton
YTTD!!!!! love that game
Ive only just started master detective rain code and its pretty good so far!!
AI The Somnium Files!!!
Honestly, the L.A. Noire facial animation engine is super impressive, and I wish more games used it.
Another cool detective/ mystery game will have to be 999. 999 is one of my favorite games I have played in the last decade.
As a fan of both LA Noire and Danganronpa series, I cant wait to try Ace Attorney as well. The trilogy of best detective games in my hands soon
Also, honorable mention to Batman Arkham games, for a little but of investigation gameplay here and there...
watching your first video i never expected you to become so big. keep up the great work!
What makes Danganronpa interested as a Detective Game is that the Player Character is actually Watson not Sherlock. That tradition of the POV character and the Detective being separate is very bakes into the genre as a whole, but it is something you expect to be gone in a Game. But Danganronpa is an Otaku Game so the Holmes leading you to the right answer being a Beautiful Kuudere Waifu makes it work.
There are also plot reason why Kirigiri needs to use you and not just lay out everything herself.
I was only 12 when LA Noire came out, but man was I enthralled with the game and it’s aesthetic. Teleported me to a completely different time. I’d love driving from location to location rather than fast traveling just to enjoy the cars, radio, and scenery. Engaging gameplay from a truly brilliant video game
I found your channel just a few days ago and I cant believe you have only 50k subscribers. The games you discuss in this video are my favorite mystery games along with disco elysium. You should try it too if you haven't played it yet.
Hi Kiro, I just wanted to tell you that I've recently watched literally all of your videos and checked your posts. I just want to say... That I seriously have faith in you to hit even 1M subscribers and more. I'll keep supporting you forever because your talking is great and also your content obviously as I enjoyed every video and never got bored. Never Give Up, love what you do. One last thing, can you make a video about Fighting Games pls 😅
I greatly appreciate your kind words. That'd be amazing if I did hit 1M one day! I've actually been planning a fighting game video for a while now, so hopefully I can get it finished.
@@kirotalksyt awesome!!! Btw, I wanted to add that I'm from Iraq 🇮🇶 just so you know how your channel has been spread all over the world just imagine it! I also share your channel to my friends! And I believe it'll hit 1M subscribers hopefully. So be proud and happy 😊.
another detective duology i recommend is ai the somnium files from spike chunsoft :)
(it’s not by mister danganronpa though it’s by kotaro uchikoshi who also created the zero escape trilogy. which isn’t quite a detective game but i guess it does have mystery elements)
YEDSSS ANOTHER AITSF FAN OH MT GOD
I loved AITSF and loved Nirvana Initiative until the twist was revealed, though I have heard that's pretty par-for the course for uchikoshi games apparently.
@@TableClothPersona yeah, i loved ai and was actually thinking that AiNI could surpass it when in first started playing (the hype they built at the beginning of the game with ryuki was immaculate), at least until the uchikoshi hijinks ensued anyway. still a great series of games, even if the sequel left me disappointed or mad about a few aspects
@@dgcfgvvgb6555 right? heres for an AI 3 though! I think the story could continue in some interesting ways =)
Danganronpa is my favorite dark game..
Imagine if there was a saw game but the danganronpa characters.
I forgot how transformative LA Noire was graphically at the time. I adore Danganronpa.
Box 15 from Danganronpa 1 is such an iconic song
Glad someone is talking about thos genre of game its my favorite :)
I'm only at 6:30 or so and I thought you'd mention Déjà vu? Because I view it as the first detective game and it was first on Mac OG, but was popular on the NES! One of those point and click games including "Maniac Mansion", "Uninvited" or similar!
This channel is a breath of fresh air
Detective games arent top popular but when they are done they are useally done well. I haven't played any of these games discussed but i did buy the Ace Attorney on Wii U and 3ds before the Eshops closed. I'll check them out eventually on a rainy day, they look fun
Just discovered your channel today and I've really been enjoying your style! You've got a new sub! 😁
Going off of this video, I think you would enjoy the Professor Layton series! It's been my favorite franchise for half my life. I'd love to see a video about it from you in the future one day!
if you like the phoenix wright games you should check out ghost trick: phantom detective. it's made by the same creator with a similar writing style and it recently got rereleased on steam
i should also note that unlike the ace attorney remasters, the ghost trick remaster scales up into hd quite nicely
@@phantomclo Since the art is all vectors
have always been told to olay Danganronpa over the years but looking at those mini games makes me never want to touch it ever lmao
play hotel dusk and its sequel last window
the music, the story and the artstyle are really great
Kind of sad that he didn’t mention grim fandango I absolutely love that game. It’s not really a deceive game but it has similar elements such as the story and puzzles.
In 20+ years of gaming, the best detective game I ever played is Discworld Noir. LA Noire came close to being as good, but I'm still trying to scratch the itch DWN left.
Looking forward to the Apollo Justice trilogy tho having done the other two Ace Attorney collections, they are indeed excellent :)
I'm glad I'm not alone about the HD versions of Phoenix Wright. Like I always want to replay the series and the HD graphics is just...well unnatural if that makes sense. Plus, I very much prefer the DS touchscreen controls especially with the stuff like the Court Record being on the bottom screen and the characters on the top where in the HD version has to map everything to one screen and that's distracting.
wake up babe new kiro talks video
You forgot to include the zero escape trilogy, it's not per say a detective game but it's got murder mystery, interesting characters, a branching story path and a cool sci-fi setting and lots and lots of plot twists that will keep you up at night.
Also, by the same story writer and same team, there's the AI The Somnium Files games, in which you're literally a detective solving murders with a machine you use to travel into the suspects and the witnesses's consciousness to gather clues, and just like the zero escape trilogy, it's got a sci-fi setting and lots of plot twists, lovable characters and branching story paths.
Despite L.A. Noire had some flaws, and it has some developmental issues over the years. It still holds up to be a good detective film noire style game. The gameplay mechanic and it’s way of facial animation is still looks amazing back when it came out in 2011.
You should 100% play ”an elmwood trail”. Whilst it’s not THE best detective game out there, the sheer concept of working with your phone is really good, the story is amazing and it’s an indie game too, worth checking it out
I don’t think they redrew the characters in the HD Ace Attorney games… I have the art books and that’s how they’re exactly drawn in the books.
Yeah, the original AA HD Trilogies on mobile and 3DS used the original assets, while AAT 2019 actually features immensely faithful sprites redrawn and hewing very close to the original assets, but done for HD resolutions.
Now you need to talk about The Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol
DANGANRONPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when someone knows this game exists: my reaction
These games is what got me into studying law
you should DEF play the other danganronpa games too. theyre pretty WILD.
great video tho, love ur chanel
The lack of the Judgment games is surprising! Good video though
9:25
This is a feature that was in the DS version.
Yeah, it was cool there too. I mentioned the 3DS version since I had that one on hand.
I’ve been playing the ace attorney lately and was actually about to buy the original trilogy on my switch lol
I would love to try danganropa one day
Thanks a lot for using Danganronpa clips and managing to not show a single spoiler. That''s something that's really hard to do. I remember IGN's DRV3 review literally showed a dead character's trial portrait in one of the clips.
Try Shadows of Doubt, it's early access but still loads of fun, and almost entirely unscripted, being procedurally generated.
Ghost Trick
Where Judgement and Lost Judgement
man should play hypnospace outlaw
Persona 4 to me is not only one of the best games of all time, but a stellar detective game trying to figure out who the murderer is
i was mad when I didnt see persona 4 here
@@demerald125it's a jrpg
@@dazza2350 but still
If they ever remake persona 4 completely like they did to p3 they NEED to axtually have a mystery solving segment where you have to peice up all of the clues instead of naoto talking for 15 minutes straight. Great game though
@maushii8804 p3 needed a remake because of dated mechanics. P4 is basically perfect as is. I do like the idea of finding clues, that's a great idea, p4 could use better character models and maybe flesh out the queer stuff with Kanji and Naoto. Maybe reduce the Yosuke borderline homophobic stuff or add in his cut romance?
Detective Pikachu not being here is a lost opportunity
I think he's blind for starting with the game he started with and not saying anything about Déjà vu! Imo the FIRST detective game!
I hope you get around to talking about and playing rain code
dangit Now i'm going to buy L.A Noire. YOU'RE KILLING MY WALLET KIRO!
I have no idea what systems you yave but it's on sale a lot on Steam for 5.99.
@@Gatorade69 switch and xbox 360, preferably switch because its rated M
Danganronpa gets too much shit on the internet I love to see it get praised for once
PLEASE , TO ANYONE READING THIS: PLEASE PLAY AI : THE SOMNIUM FILES ITS GENUINLY THE BEST GAME IVE EVER PLAYED. PLEASE JUST PLAY IT , EVEN IF YOU CANT JUST WATCH A LETS PLAY JUST PLEASE GIVE THIS GAME MORE ATTENTION. IM BEGGING FOR MORE PEOPLE TO NOTICE IT SO WE COULD POSSIBLY GET A THIRD ONE PLEASE.
While I agree I also think everyone should play zero escape too Atsf is basically it’s spiritual successor
There’s three zero escape games so having a third Somnium game feels possible
You should have mentioned tales of the obra din
this guys unfathomable level of knowledge on video games scares me
Everybody play Trails from Zero!!!!
W
La noire characters look so damn creepy
🥇
I thought rockstar made this game not a team Bonnie?
Check 999
Ace Attorney is ehhh mazing
Gotta finish the chronicles games sometime, I just don't like the guy as much as I like Nick
Recommend playing Ghost Trick since it is made by the same man who created Ace Attorney, and it is arguably his magnum opus. Play for Missile the greatest dog in fiction.
HELLO!
LA Noire doesn't really shine in the interrogation. You have no room to wiggle it's a highly simple and cheap system. If you don't ask what the Designers intended you to ask, you loose.
I always thought "Doubt" was to push a bit and maybe get more infos, nah somtimes Cole just lies or yells at a victim and that ruins the investigation.
It's really really REALLY BAD
AI the Somnium files.
Real
Hi!
Heyo!
play Hotel Dusk
have you played the sequel
@@leonprohaska2505 I did! It was a challenge since it didn't come out here in the US but I found a way
@@voyan38 i'm glad you did
kind of sad that this series is over
Game name
Why do USians seem tonhave auch a gard time with the word "noir"?
I always hear them say "noo-are"
i thought you were gonna talk about the detective aspects of games to be honest i don't care about the soundtrack :(
La noir seems unfair to me, my autistic ass could never read the characters facial expressions
I really hate the la noire change of the good cop bad cop and accuse
It just ruined the game imo
I wish I could get into the danganronpa games but the character designs are too unappealing and the story was a bit too wacky to have any sense of believability or stakes for me. I'm hoping i can get into master detective archive as the character designs while still wacky seem a bit toned down
