Bob: Are you my evil clone?
boB: Yes, and my name is boB.
Bob: That's my name....spelled...backwards
Ok before I saw this when I was very young I had two minis in smash bros Wii U named Bob and his archenemy bob because it’s his name backwards what a coincidence
Then you have the autistic third one named bOb
LOL
@ranbowflashinator
boB: "Wanna have gay sex with each other?"
Bob: "Yes"
Who is liking this? Bunch of smooth brained iPad kids I bet.
Fake peppino is a very good example of how to make something unexpected until the very end, the moment you buy his bossgate you know it's gonna be a clone of peppino and the first titlecard is a mirrored peppino, then you see how wrong and weird he acts and moves, then you see the phase two changes that only reinforce his soft horror aspects and once you beat phase two the game changes from a bossfight to a escape from a abomination that looks like peppino charging towards you and once you get out of peppino's pizza 2 you find out that you was at bruno's pizza all along.
Agree
He’s so cool idk why I love him so much
You wrote an essay about fake peppino
Never played pizza tower past the 1st world, reading this made me have a brain fart
@@thatcheesy8613 sorry for the spoilers
How to make an evil counterpart:
1. Take your character
2. Make a clone out of them.
3. Give them a darker, if not all black color palette
4. Give them a deeper/sinister voice
5. Make sure to have them frowning or smirking
6. Profit 📈

My favorite "Evil Clone" is Dark Pit. Since he is an incomplete copy of Pit, he gets to be his own character. He is much more than "Pit but evil." He has his own motivations and reasons to fight. I think he is an interesting and well written character in a game full of interesting and well written characters, but that's probably just my love for Kid Icarus Uprising showing.
Also, the meta reason Dark Pit was made is because Pit had a really cool looking dark alt. in Super Smash Bro. Brawl.
another kid icarus enjoyer
Dark Pit is great, plus his theme song is awesome too
I like Dark Pit because his existence implies that Pit is too pure and kind to actually have a legitime dark side, since Dark Pit is more edgy but not actually evil in any capacity.
@@mythosinfinite6736And it does show that, while Dark Pit is the exact mirror opposite of Pit, there are still some features that carry over no matter what, like his love for cheesy lines.
Calling him evil at all is a stretch
If anything he’s a burnt out soldier who just wants to escape service
When I was a kid I didnt like Pittoo (Dark Pit) but as an adult I appreciate how he is both his own person and all the things Pit is too nice to say.
Pittoo was able to take pandoras powers for himself he is able to criticise gods and stand up for himself, desipe this he still fights against the underworld and he still risks his own life to save others.
It would have been really easy to make Dark Pit nothing more than 'Pit but he works for the underworld' but Sakurai and his team didn't do that.
Kid icarus would not be the same without Pittoo I'm glad he exists
(and mad that child me brushed off most 'edgy' characters cuz they are great)
The fandom comics are such a mood because of him hearing Pitoo crack up over Pits time in Captain N and when Pit cracked up over Pitoo saying woomy is just a vibe
@@senritsujumpsuit6021are you talking about Doodlestar’s comics? I LOVE those comics and it’s a shame that more people don’t talk about them more often
Is Pittoo and Dark Pit the same character? You confuse me.
@@PikaLink91they’re the same character, it just that in the game Palutiena ( I’m pretty sure I wrote her name wrong ) changed Dark pit’s name into Pittoo because she thought it was cute, also Dark pit doesn’t like being called Pittoo, But he later accepts the name because everybody calls him that
@@MiracleTimes07 I see. I mean in-universe I get it doesn't make a whole lotta sense to go around calling someone Dark-[insert name], but Pittoo is an even worse name. Was Sakurai perhaps inspired by Mewtwo but exchanged the w for and o? Either way it's a horrible name, and him accepting it just because everyone keeps calling him that is perhaps even worse.
"I don't like this name"
"Well we'll keep using it anyway"
I think the SA-X and Dark Samus are also solid “evil versions”. Great video!
I would definitely call Dark Samus an evil Counterpart, but the SAX is an interesting instance. Because at the end of the game it seemed to develop some sort of… empathy for Samus. It straight up sacrificed itself for her. Maybe through mimicry it learned to feel or something? I don’t know for sure, but I think that’s the point. We’ll probably never know.
@@cosmicspacething3474 I think it's instinct to kill Metroid's was greater than the ones to kill Samus. You see a copy of the SA-X attacking Metroids in Sector 0 and it ignores her there. Samus only had some Metroid DNA.
I love the "accept your evil counterpart" idea in fiction. I love how in doing so, Scott Pilgrim and Samus (Metroid Fusion) become stronger. Good symbolic stuff.
There's the movie Brave Story where the child MC legit holds his dark selves face close to his an absorbs him an says "Welcome Back" that moment was so oddly raw in its design for a some what silly kids film
said kids film then tells you a father murder his little girl so yeah Asia
Can't forget about Piccolo and Kami from Dragon Ball Z...upon fusing with Kami, Piccolo gains a crazy power boost while also pretty much symbolically accepting that he's not the evil being that King Piccolo wanted him to be.
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 Sounds like an interesting film. Where can i watch ?
I watched on a piracy site but its posted to youtube too but the baller main song is swapped out due to DMCA @@mersunarytigre
As much as Nega Scott felt shoehorned into the movie, seeing Scott and Nega Scott casually walts out of Gideon's hideout like best friends and Scott saying "he ain't bad when you get to know him" was so wholesome and priceless.
Nega Scott is one of my favorite "Dark alts" because at first he just seems like another problem to deal with, immediately attacking Scott in his first few panels, but when it finally hits Scott that Nega Scott is the visualization of Scott preferring to fight or keep running from accepting his own mistakes is touching really. It makes every scene of him trying to fix his relationships and be on good terms with everyone he's caused harm so much more satisfying
i find it a bit funny how Metal Sonic wasn't in this video but Shadow was. Metal Sonic fits more as Sonic's evil twin than Shadow and i get that most of his examples are characters who look like the main character but with dark-themed clothes however shadow looks nothing like Sonic, moreover, why i think Metal works more is the fact that metal is supposed to be evil sonic. sonic likes to make jokes and can get cocky and has a more friendly look to him while metal stays slight and looks deadly. metal also fits the " evil clone" stereotype that was mentioned in the video
Scourge the Hedgehog (from Archie) fits the evil archetype more than Shadow does, who's only dark.
Also Metal Sonic fits with the general theme of Sonic being Mechanical vs Nature with Metal Sonic being a full robot and his speed being a result of high powered jets
I agree with you. One notorious villain, Mephiles the Dark from Sonic 06, is actual "an evil version" example but of Shadow, instead of Sonic. He even straightforward copied Shadow's appearance in one of his forms, but more gray and dull. Mephiles just basically the personification of what could be if Shadow didn't develop his character and decided to go to evil route and finally destroy the world.
From all the dark clones ever, Nega Scott seems to be the most inspired from Unjammer Rammy
How'd ya know?
@@thesteven2army both characters have their themes be distorted rock music. Plus almost identical color palettes.
13 year old me was only SLIGHTLY in love with Dark Pit. SLIGHTLY.
Not an evil clone but Paper Mario gave us an Evil Peach, Luigi and bowser
I wish we had more shadow queen peach and Mr.L
Mario is a funny franchise because there’s constantly new incarnations of a Shadow or Cosmic Mario and then there’s also Wario, who quickly got sick of being related to Mario and spawning multiple series of his own
you always manage to take a small concept or mechanic and find a way to flesh out the meaning and consequences of the design choice in a very interesting and digestible way. love the content 🎉
T.K.O from OK K.O Lets Be Heroes takes bits and pieces from almost every sub category. He just starts out as a tool for a villain to achieve his goal, but ends up becoming his own independent identity with his own struggles. He mainly exists in the main characters mind (K.O), only being let out if K.O is with him. He is basically teen K.O, in the sense that he is just edgier and dresses like he’s going to a rock concert.
The best “evil clone”: Copy Robot from MMPU. I love how he’s such a diabolical sh*thead that is able to charge and slide before the original Mega Man would ever be able to do.
with dark pit, it's not so much that he's supposed to be pit's evil copy, but what pit truly is (to an exaggerated degree). He was made from the Mirror of Truth, and the whole idea of it being "Shattered before the transformation was complete" was supposed to be wrong cause the characters made an assumption on who D.Pit is supposed to be before meeting him. This is why D. Pit is not evil, cause Pit isn't evil. Dark pit only has an attitude with all of the characters cause he blames the gods for all the destruction caused by their "stupid wars." He's Pit's desire to be independent, he's pit's desire to fly on his own, He's pit's desire to stop the wars between gods, and he's pit's desire to be taken seriously, and his arrogance are Pit's inner feelings of frustration. That's why D.Pit is such a popular character, not cause he's evil, but because he's another aspect of Pit cranked up to 11
Sonic has way too many evil versions to just pick one
but only one of them toke his GF an verbally pissed on all his friends
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 good point, though i guess metal sonic also did the first one
@PossibluCoolAnimations I choose Sonichu

I know its a game this video talks about but in terms of general evil clone/counterpart, Kamen Rider Ryuga from Kamen Rider Ryuki. The idea is that Ryuga is the mirror world counterpart of Ryuki, motives would be having the mirror world be the dominant world or some crap but what I love about Ryuga is the aesthetic. Sure he’s a black muted color version if Ryuki but it just makes him so much cooler. Not to mention how much of a menace he is to all the characters of Kamen Rider Ryuki. He stopped and I think killed Kamen Rider Ouja, a villainous rider of the show, and his fused monster named Genocider, which many had a hard time with. Such a awesome character. I’ll reply to this comment when the thought of a game character comes or another one I’d like to share
People know about Wario, but people dont know about Wawario (Wario's goth cousin)
scary
@Whurlpuul except Wawario is the nicest and kindest person unlike Wario
Everybody knows about Wario, but nobody knows about his cousin Gregario. He promised to fix Diddy Kong's car but the back wheels got f'd up.
And nobody know his cousin washazeraschesio
Evil Ryu isn't really an alternate universe, he has elements of "what if" but the Satsui no Hadou is a part of Ryu in the main timeline and Evil Ryu is just a characterized version of Ryu becoming engulfed in it, which is the core of his main character arc. When Ryu's story progressed and he overcame the Satsui no Hadou, instead of making Evil Ryu, Capcom thought it was more fitting to do the "off brand character" thing and make Kage, because Evil Ryu wouldn't make sense in the lore in SFV.
Evil Ryu is less "Goku Black" or "Injustice Superman" and is more akin to something like if you were to make a Marvel game and include Spider-Man and Black Suit Spider-Man as separate characters with distinct move sets.
went the whole video without mentioning metal sonic once
I think I like Dark Pit most out of all out these examples, due to being a subversion of the usual trope. Normally, these guys are just manifestations of their ego or fear, a corruption within the main character, or just there for the sake of adding a little edginess to the game. While Pitoo is an example of the latter, it is interesting to see a dark sider in such a unique way. He takes being the antithesis to Pit quite literally; Pandora thought that would mean he was loyal to the bad guys, but rather than flipping his loyalties, the mirror just made him the opposite of loyal, as well as cold as steel. Not only does it indicate just how bonded to Palutena the original Pit is, but his unexpected turn was really funny. He's neutral instead of evil.
Nah wario is the best in my opinion hes so different from mario and honestly just hilarious
Shadow was only an antagonist once in his debut game and him being portrayed as antagonistic afterwards is 90% a result of tryhard "edgy crowd" marketing and generally poor writing. (And yes, that includes the 2005 game of his own name)
Where's that DAMN fouth chaos emerald?
Shadow should have been just like Dark pit
And then we have Dark Meta Knight who is an evil, much edgier (somehow) version of a character who is already an Anti-hero
Also have mephiless
@ceeemgee0381 but what about Galacta Knight in which who is a more evil version of Meta Knight
I'm such a sucker for these istg. I know it's all clichéd to death and cheesy and all that stuff but I just love these sort of edgy characters for some reason.
And hey, heroes can become evil. Usually it's temporarily via corruption, and they come back to their senses because the power of friendship and whatnot
I want more of what the fandom does with Undertale where it goes more in line with Luna an Sena in Blazblue where its two people in one body just screwing everything up but they care in the end
It would be cool to play or make a game where you start as clearly the hero, but slowly throughout the course of the game see yourself become a villain, possibly unintentionally.
well we do have Spec ops the line where you become a rouge soldier that fuks ever Dubai killing so many people oops @@Robospy1
I wish Dark Link was given more backstory.
fancomics an manga
why can't games be closer to them
four swords manga dark Link was rad his ending was depressing
Well in zelda 2 dark link is just the darkness within link that link must be to become pure to hold the triforce
I always wondered why Dark Link in Ocarina only appears after you pass the lone tree and turn around. Secondly, why does he appear BY the lone tree? And thirdly, why IS there a lone tree? What's the symbolism with it?
Bro, I’ve been watching you for a good while now. You definitely deserve more subscribers. These bite size videos are always fun to watch. Keep it up. I look forward to more to come.
Dark Samus my beloved
i really appreciate the fact that you kept playing the scott pilgrim footage during the "hero has to look within to defeat evil version of hero's manifestation of ___"
I like how Nega Scott isn't actually evil, but is just the personification of Scott's misery and hidden past, trying to convince him to embrace his mistakes
Now his video game counterpart on the other hand...
The video literally adressed that though
I actually made a Fakemon based off of this trope. There's this monster catcher called Cassette Beasts and one of the Mons is Arkidd, a video game character robot made of game consoles. So I made an evil counterpart called Darkidd (great name, I know), who, unlike Arkidd, evolves. Its evolutions are Arshade, an arcade machine with teeth and wire tentacles, and Polyboss, a giant arcade machine with a tentacled bottom half and puppet strings made of wires.
Roxas also works as a combination of a few of these. He's a personality stripped from Sora (and Ventus) and is meant to return back to Sora so he can be whole again, but because of this circumstance after being made he has an entire personality and development path from that and how he hates being stuck in that position, as a means to an end determined by people around him and beyond his control, instead of being able to live his own life. It's a very fascinating twist on the trope, and it's hard to consider him an "evil version" of Sora esp with the roller coaster he goes through, but it's clear why he's a fan favorite.
I'm VERY surprised Vergil from DMC didn't make an appearance in this video. The evil twin brother trope is weirdly underrepresented in video games I feel but no game series does it better than the DMC franchise. You want the dark and edgy version of the main character, you literally don't get any better than Vergil in my humble opinion
It's probably unrepresented because twins are rare to begin with and evil twin sounds both chiche and kinda distasteful to apply to twins in real life.
I was waiting for Vergil lol
Awesome video once again! I was also thinking about Solid Snake and Liquid Snake but then again both of them are clones of Big Boss. Then of course there's also Dark Samus.
" Hey, I've got a great idea! Let's dip the main character in a vat of ink and have you fight him before you get to the end boss!" -- Homestar Runner
Kiro, how about an video about minigames in games, I think this is an very fun topic that isnt talked about quite often
To counter this trope, here is something original I came up with for my next book: What if... all along... it turns out the evil version of the main character is the original, and the good version that we've been following up till this point is a 'reboot' that was created after the original evil version's universe was destroyed and restarted, but where that guy cheated death and survived the restart, meaning two versions of him now exist at the same time?
A good evil character can let you understand the original character better, either having them represent a complex inner turmoil, like how Dark Pit is the manifestation of Pit's desires for true freedom he represses because of his greater and geniune sense of duty and honor, or exaggerating the exact opposite of their morals and serving as a devil's advocate, like how Evil Ryu is the demonstation of how much pure power Ryu could have if he were to forego his humility and calmness.
While Dark Link is cool, I don't think he's a good character in the sense that Link isn't personally affected or reflected by Dark Link; at least in the games.

The fact that Dark Pit wasn't called Tip and his nickname coulda been Tippy-Tap will always be my flashpoint. Pittoo is pretty goated I will give them that, BUT i like originality and think it'd've been funnier.
This is just a cool little analysis. Good stuff dude.
Remember guys! Next time when you have an annoying guy that constantly ruins your plan, just make the same exact guy guy color him with black and now all of a sudden he is the same but also different at the same time!
I always liked Dark Pit because of how he was handled. I have played the Chapters he was in way too many times. Still hoping for it to come to Switch.
My fav in game moment of him is when after healing PIt he flees from being confronted by it an proceeds to jump off a cliff an nearly die
@@senritsujumpsuit6021I love that scene so much!, and his scream was the funniest thing ever 😂
Cool video I love these game and character analyzation videos my favorite evil version s are dark pit and wario
You Forget To Mention Dark Rayman (AKA Raymesis) From The Rayman Franchise
Clone Andy is the best dark clone. He knows what an airport is!
My personal favorite example of an evil clone is Omega Zero from Mega Man Zero 3, who actually flips the “evil clone” trope on its head by having Omega, the “clone” in this case using Zero’s original body
He has all of the same techniques, most of which are more powerful than Zero, and he has new ones too
From a story perspective, Omega is meant to represent what Zero was intended to be by his creator: a merciless killing machine, and Zero defeating Omega represents him moving on from his past, which is just _chef’s kiss_
Interesting video! I’m curious what category robotic doubles of characters would fall under. Metal Sonic and MechaGodzilla come to mind.
Good video! Would’ve been intrigued to see your take on Clone Cop from Entropy Zero Two.
Marx and Shadow Kirby from the Kirby series are very interesting takes on an evil version of a character.
Marx is just evil for the sake of being evil. He doesn’t care about anything but himself, which at a time where Kirby characters didn’t betray each other, Marx’s plan throughout Milkyway Wishes was very nice to see.
Shadow Kirby is more peculiar though, since he isn’t ‘evil’. Sure, he has the darker colours, but he isn’t a negative reflection of Kirby’s kindness like Marx is: he’s a reflection of Kirby’s bravery. Shadow Kirby is a coward, only providing items for Kirby during the story in Amazing Mirror. Then, he grows much braver and stronger in the Kirby Fighters games. My headcanon is that modern Shadow Kirby could potentially be a showcase of how powerful Kirby’s standard copy abilities could be in the future.
Just wanted to throw in my opinions as a Kirby fan.
Personally I believe that owl man especially on justice league crisis on two earth is the best evil counterpart of a hero to this day
Shadow is a good example because he was technically supposed to die in Sa2 but the fandom liked him so much they brought him back for Sonic heroes and he got his own game
6:22
SA2 yeah. But past that, I wouldn’t call Shadow evil unless he’s out of character.
I think Ophelia in My Friend Pedro does well at subverting this trope. She has all the same Deadpool style acrobatics as the main character, but she also looks like a separate person. It's like meeting another rare dancer in the lethal ballet that is the plot of the game.
Spoiler Alert
But they're also related so it feels sort of like a family affair sort of confrontation.
Well said 👌🏾
Wapeach would’ve been cool to have as the “Wario” counterpart to Peach and yes I’m aware of Shadow Queen Peach in the Thousand Year Door.
Dark Link/Shadow Link can also fit into the first category as well since in both Zelda 2 and OoT its suppose to be a challenge for Link and that he must conquer himself, and in Hyrule Warriors Cia made the Dark Link in that game from Link himself and shows what he could become if he was evil and used his new powers unwisely. Only Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity has a true Evil version of Link and that's just in the form of those malice shadows that is used by Astor
Capcom makes evil version of the protag is always their thing
I love Dark Megaman exe, facing him with exact same folder holder not as challenging but still a neat idea, also the color is really good while also being edgy
How coincidencental that this video comes out near the reveal of Wapeach
Dark pit from kid icarus is a solid take
Looking at animated shows, we also have evil Darkwing Duck, evil Goliath (and the other gargoyles), and even an evil Aladdin! ...I'm dated, but The Disney Afternoon was a good time!
Interesting video.
I like how Crash technically has 3 evil counterparts of himself and 2 of them are basically background characters and the other one joins his family
Fake Crash was Created as a Parody of Japanese Crash with the Thicc Eyebrows.
For me, Fake Peppino could be interpreted more as a clone, not really an evil version/archnemesis. It's like a really, really bad copy of Peppino, but because he isn't a 1:1, he has all that "horror" stuff with him.
Fake Peppino is a thing of nightmares but that's what makes him so cool.
@@kirotalksyt I like his resemblance to the other Peppino clones that are present in WAR, like they're both just melting 'stuff', it's such a cool take on this trope tbh!
@@kirotalksyt cool and totally not trauma fuel
Dark pit is just awesome
kiro videos keep it classy
*Evil Jazz* from Jazz Jackrabbit DOS is a evil version of Jazz Jackrabbit himself
Vegeta is the best example of the evil off brand of a character
Metal Sanic is more of the Evil Duplicate than Shadow.
and then theres some series like kof or doa who dont just have an evil clone they have evil cloneS, with some games even having them playable, like kyo1, 2, kusanagi and k9999
DOA has Alpha-152 as an Evil Jelly Clone of Kasumi.
You forgot the fourth type: the evil alternate universe self/evil future self. Like Dark Danny from Danny Phantom
I see Metal Sonic as Sonic's Evil Clone type.
my name is reggin and this is my evil clone...
I think my favorite "dark" version of a character is Omori. I'm not sure how to say this without spoiling the game, or if this even counts due to the context, but... yeah.
Absolutely.
X and Copy-X. Heck, even Sonic and Scourge.
"You are as they say, Mega Man..."
I think you should do a video on robotic clones
Kiro, how about a video about fishing in video games?
0:08 interesting you used goku black here since tullece from the tree of might dbz movie probably would have probably fit better for what you were talking about
Some Evil Counterparts are the same character with as a Heel.
I am a sucker for evil versions of characters. I hate the motivation of Goku Black because I'm not a big fan of villains who think they're the good guys, but damn it if he's not a cool character.
Not an evil character in a video game, but my favorite dark version is probably from Danny phantom the ultimate enemy
Shadow's not really what I consider an "evil version of Sonic"
if anything Metal Sonic fits that better, as he's literally a creation made to be better than Sonic in every way
(or the actual evil Sonic from the Archie comics)
now speaking of evil characters: how about the Dark Rayman (or Raymesis)
who copies everything you do, like if you run, he runs, you punch, he punch and etc... literally also created by Mr. Dark
he's also been referenced as a skin in games like Legends
I guess you can count Mr. L for Luigi as well even tho it's just Luigi brainwashed by Dimentio
speaking of other Nintendo characters we also have Dark Samus, Dark Meta Knight, Dark Bowser from Bowser's Inside Story and so much more, in fact there's a lot of Evil "Dark" version of our beloved Nintendo characters
I think shadow doesn't quiiiiiteee fit the " if the main character was evil offbrand" because he doesn't really have a twisted version of sonic's ideals or personalities. he's a an evil version in design and abilities alone
Cool..............................................but you forgot Honker the Skunk and Dark Samus
Robot versions of other characters like mecha godzilla or metal sonic
kiro talks villain clone would probably be kiro is silent
Nice
Why didn't you talk about Goku Black? Btw love you're content

This comment is late, but it's interesting how the only character that is basically another character but with the word "nega" in the name that isn't directly am evil version of another character is eggman nega
Characters like the nega chin and NegaScott are very obviously rvio counterparts to their respective characters but eggman nega is just weird
My favorite evil clone is from kirby... I'm not talking about shadow kirby, that lame copy, I'm talking about the real evil kirby, void termina the destroyer of worlds
Is very intetesting to see how kirby could turn out if he was born of hated and obsesion instead of love and frienship

@@noahalcantar2431 ok shadow Kirby Is not lame, Is interesting to se a not heroic Kirby but I'm just saying void is the real deal
@dms023 I just want more of the Light is Not Good cliche on evil doppelgangers of good hearted heroes
@@noahalcantar2431 I'm not sure what are you talking about, but shadow Kirby Is a reflect of Kirby from the mirror world, the mirror world was a parallel dimention with the power of making your dreams come true but was corrupted by a villan named dark mind and now only reflects bad things creating a lot of evil versions but also a copy of Kirby named shadow Kirby but shadow Kirby Is not evil just lazy and coward and that's because Kirby can't be evil

I take offence to Dark Pit being called evil when he’s at least an anti-hero!
Spikey 7 year old in a older body
I don't think that the "hero but evil" trope is an inheriently bad trope.
or at least not on paper.
theoretically speaking it can work from a writting standpoint if you are writting some alegory/metaphor and you want to show that there are 2 sides to the argument.
too bad that most of the time it is just lazy writting.
