Please please get it bro i have the zx14 2016 i will love you to do videos on twisties just did a 4 day mountain run on it amazing
What's your opinion of getting a 2023 zx1400 with LSL handlebar conversion kit and pingel speed shifter . My back is fucked up need to be more upright I love the bike l have a 2005 Hayabusa now can't ride it very long hurts too much back and wrist pain.
I have one exactly like this one (2021) and wouldn't trade it for anything else. It's very comfortable and quick. Been riding since 1963 and have had a lot of motorcycles. At age 74 i couldn't ask for anything more.
Really cool that at 74 you are riding this bike ! very cool. Respect.
Thank You !@@umakantgajjewar8898
I'm almost 76,riding a 08 sporty which is the successor to my '70 CB 759, a '73 RD 350, a '78 K750 and an '83 CB 900F-Think a ZX-14R would be a perfect addition.
Yes, I want to see videos of Motojitsu knee dragging, flying around in the twisties on a six hundred pound sports bike!❤
;) someone came in and bought it....but maybe Hayabusa?
Definitely, the Hayabusa.
Mayyyyyyybbbbeeee I will
Do it!!!
@@MotoJitsu curious as to what they were asking for it ??
Big fast bikes with quiet exhausts are the best.
Great watch- No joke, my 1st bike at 51 (after a windowmaker aka Heart attack ) was a GL1800 - then the H2 SE-SX, next up the ZX14R...da' best (Yes I rode from the age of 7 thru 22) when I married the bike scared wife- Soo good to be back
MJ… Ive watch u for years… I’ve seen hundreds of your videos. Today is the first time I’ve ever commented on one of your videos. I own a 2012 ZX14R, I think it’s the most underrated bike ever… until you ride it. It’s instant love. I instantly forgot all other bikes. I instantly forget how awesome all other bikes are….It is the best secret in the motorcycle world. Please share the word.
Keep up the great work brother. Stay safe always. 😎👍❤️
I have a '21...actually wanted a '20-just for the color. I use it for what I call "power touring". I am 58 years old, and August will be my 5th anniversary as a widower-my late wife wanted me to buy a plane (I am a retired Naval Aviator) but that is a big tail to carry. I live in rural Missouri and I have the choice of "back country" twisty roads or straight line highways (if I want to get somewhere in a hurry-Des Moines IA in under 2 hours is commonplace for me). 500+ mile rides are effortless. For reference I am 6'1"/195. I did fit the MRA "touring" screen which cuts the wind perfectly for my height. I always hear people poo-poo the -14R saying it is "old" and needs a "update". These are the same people that cannot go 30 seconds without checking their "smart" phone. I chose the -14R for it's simplicity. You have to ride as well as drive this machine. It is as unforgiving as the sea. My opinion is too many people are too reliant on the "trons" to keep them out of trouble. As the saying goes: "Stupid should hurt." I have over 25K miles on this machine to date. I worked with Dave Moss to tune the suspension-the few dollars spent was well worth the price of admission. I take, on average, 3 riding courses a year and have been to Champ School twice and use the online course as a refresher plus your Belt Drills. In aviation one of the best mantras is "A good pilot is always learning. 5 hours or 15,000 hours you always learn something!" If there is one thing I would say negative about this machine is that it eats tires. I am lucky to get 3-4K out of a rear, maybe 6K out of a front...I don't push it in the twisties...she is just a fat bottom girl that loves to dance. You asked if you should buy it? I would say you can do no better than the -14R. It is suitable for both getting your "knees in the breeze" as well as a sedate touring mile-munching machine! Good luck in your decision!
Long ago my grandpa taught me the definition of an Expert is something that has admitted is has no more need to know. Me, let alone retain and efficiently utilize
Why on earth would you NOT buy this bike? That thing deserves someone who appreciates it properly, and yeah - clearly you do. 👍
Owned a busa n currently driving a 2019 zx14r nothing compares, speed comfort just a nice smooth solid bike n iam 6 2 love this bike
CBR650R review please.
Buy one, theyre great bikes. Not new tho, buy a used one. They arent worth new price imho.
Good bike for a girl
Just stare at a blank beige wall instead
It’s crap, newbies go for it though. Lol
Its my favorite bike. F the haters they jelly 😂
BUY it would love to see content on this. I had an 06 zx14, one of my favorite bikes ever! the torque is amazing and the sound with a better exhaust....👌your right about the stability even at around 200mph its crazy how comfortable and stable it is.
you tried 200mph dawg? damn, you win.
Your first review got me thinking: "he's not enjoying the bike is he?" And knowing a ZX-14R it's much more capable than a Hayabusa so it was kinda weird seeing you not liking it that much
This video proves that a ZX-14R will make you like it because it's capable!
I bought a 2017 zx14r last winter with the two brothers slipons and a PC5. Love it. Power for days. I added 2 inch bar risers and lowered the pegs 1". Super comfy. Also added LED headlights. It's just fast but tame at the same time.
Those are wonderful machines… torque for days, and a great wind protection bubble
Miramar, Cali... Fightertown USA!! At least, it used to be lol. Not sure if it still is?
I own a 2006 ZX 14 and its my first 4 cyl sports bike ... ( Harley owner ) and i have to say its an amazing easy to ride bike , and super fast but also quite managable , and the torque is fantastic :-) , i can go all day with highway , tight corners , big sweepers and not even rev it over 7 grand and im flying ! And rev it out and youre going way fast real quick..i love it ! wow, what a machine ...
By it mate , great bike that will do anything , and most things very well . I also think it is more comfortable than the Gen 2 Busa I also own . The full system exhaust replacement , go Akrapovic for twin muffler , or Brocks CT ti for 4 - 1
I have a 2022 ZX14R, simple BMC air filter and some slipons with a Moore Mafia tune... Amazing bike. Got the suspension set up by GMD Computrack, went to a 190/55 rear tire, and it's been amazing for comfort, stupid speeds and even done a couple track days at Road Atlanta on it... It can handle it all. My other bike is a flashed and piped 2023 MT-10 and between both bikes, I feel like I have all bases covered...
If you could only keep 1 bike which would it be between the MT10 and ZX14R? I've been debating going the ZX14R route from a MT10 because I prefer the sportier position and the bike felt pretty nimble for the weight and easy to ride. Really torn on trying to find the right bike for me because as much as I love nakeds sometimes they aren't practical for a lot of high speed riding. I love the sound and character of the CP4 but man it makes it really hard.
@@ganuvien You kinda can't go wrong with either. Both are excellent machines. But if I had to pick only one of them, the MT-10... Its fast AF, more agile, better for light touring, has a better sound and it has a much better electronics package...
Ive been working at airports for years, and been in the military for half a decade now and i never get over the awe of seeing planes overhead, especially the DoD fixed wings
Buy it. It will be your favorite once you spend some time on it. PS...I'm still on my first bike after 3 years...A 2013 ZX-14R...Don't hate me.. I was hooked the instant I got on it and rode for 10 miles. There's no other bike like it. And I've ridden easily over a hundred now.
Glad someone with a lot of street cred and one of the few moto-vloggers I respect got to experience this awesome bike. Had many bikes myself and still just love my ZX-14R...from the nimbleness to the instant power at any gear, any revs. Would like to see Jitsu purchase it and take it through his blackbelt exercises!
I love these 1000cc + bikes. No high revving or some nonsense, nice and lazy. In 6th gear, just open the throttle and off goes the rocket baby whale 😂
I have an 06 Fireblade and now I'm in the process of adding a Blackbird. Not as fast as this but still mighty.
Thanks for the test. Never paid much attention to kwakers but I'm sure as hell gonna now.
I have the 99 bird, it's outstanding to ride. It just potters at 80mph which feels like 40 and it oozes torque. Will get a zzr1400 for that extra power though.
Bruh nothing sounds better than a high revving 600cc supersport.
@@Adrenalean767 yes but not for a long ride and reving a bike all the time gets tyring . Thats the difference between a bike that is made for touring and a bike that is used for track day fun .
@@user-jk3dz2st7u That is true, plan to use the bird for commuting and the blade for the fun stuff :)
@@user-jk3dz2st7umaybe revving a 250cc would get tiring but not a 600cc supersport, those bikes are insanely quick.
Nice to see a recent vid. I’m looking into possibly getting one of these myself
Great review as always. Looking to grab a ZX14 soon. Steel braided brake lines per your point👍👍
Thanks agsin
Best 14R review I've seen by far. 👽👽👽 I went from loving the 900 RR to this. I love so many bikes. I miss the old double headlights.
🔥🔥🔥
Loved the video. Ridden a lot of bikes at this point but not the Busa or this one. Very much look forward to doing so someday. Seems like the bike I might chose if I needed a dedicated freeway smasher. Nice throttle lock and a top case - hyper-sport touring in style.
I laughed when took off the seat. Just 4 screws and you can take off cowl, it just covers the the passenger part of the seat. That bike will corner amazing well with good tires and a capable rider.
"A baby whale with a rocket attached to it" is the most accurate way to describe the bike. I have a zx14 and would 100% align!
I’ve owned two of these. One green, one black. I had a ninja 400 when owning my first one and found I rode that way more than the 14r. Then sold it, what regret that was. There is something special about this bike and a real treat to ride even if it was for me just once every two weeks. It isn’t the most fun on just twists and turns or especially on a hot summer day in traffic. My favourite run was back curvy roads and then head home via a motorway. It is so smooth and has that beautiful calm 4 cylinder sound. Not like a 1000 which has a more angry sound, aggressive seating position but more nimble. It’s just a nice cruising bike that is so much fun to throw the throttle back when coming out of a turn or rocketing you from stop light to stop light. I kept mine in traction control 3 in most circumstances purely to save the tires. You go through them quick. I’ve owned probably over 50 bikes in 10 years and this is one of the best.
Bought mine brand new. I installed Yoshimura slip ons. Sounds good without being too loud. Had mine up to 170 mph and still smooth.
YES! Buy it. I own a 2012, and it’s amazing. Worth the investment.
Excellent, I bought a used 2015 ZX14R in the spring if this year, I am very impressed with this motorcycle, and I've been on bikes for 20 years. When I ride, I'm at 7000 rpms a great deal, when you twist the throttle, you feel your whole being move into another dimension. Handling, if you have trouble turning, you need to give it up, it's like it's on rails, especially in the sweepers where you can drag a knee if you wish. Short turns, the wheelbase is a factor but they are manageable, not much of a problem. Riding for a few hours without a break is pretty easy yet it does eat fuel pretty fast, on the highway you will hit triple digits, you can't help it. I've never heard anyone say that they dislike riding this bike.
That bike needs a freakin' well deserved update. The Gen3 Busa is the last of the big super sport era bikes. No Blackbird, No ZZR1400. These are the real inline 4 beasts. The K1600 from Bmw could be a stunning looking bike with a bit of revamped S1000RR fairings. Make Big Bikes Sexy and Fresh Again! 🎉🎉🎉
P.s. Nice review, BUT thr Gen3 Busa-s dashboard is way nicer. This looks outdated, and like it was made for a Tractor. A bit of italian styling wouldn't hurt the Kawas, cause they look like they rolled out of a barn(true for my beloved ZH2 as well)
I bought the 2020 ZX14R about 5 months ago. Love this Machine. I have not had a motorcycle in 40 years and this is my training cycle LOL. It does demand discipline and respect. So much power yet so smooth and stable. Hope you bought that one!
😃, buy it,you owe it to yourself, you’re having too much fun on the test ride😃
Sure, buy it, and have you done a video on how to adjust the suspension? Love your videos. Great job, Greg!
Would also like to know more about adjusting the suspension, I just got my first bike with adjustable suspension but I'm afraid to mess with it haha.
I used to work on Miramar many years ago and I swear if I never have to hear another fighter jet ever again in my life I’ll be so happy!!
I bought my 2020 new and every ride STILL puts a smile on my face. It's just an incredible combination of comfort and sportiness. If there's any downside, it's how thirsty they are...but at 1441cc, you gotta expect that you're gonna have a drinking problem.
There is a nickname for ZX14R 'Six Eyes Demons'. I owned one before and was comfortable, powerful, hope I can get a black version' soon. Great bike.
Can you imagine the Hayabusa Chris Moore built with the turbo, capable of 600 horsepower with E85? For a drag racer who's run a turbo GSX-R1000 to the high 5-second quarter mile, he said that turbo Hayabusa scares him. Flies past 200 mph with ease.
Ive got a 2005 Zx12r and absolutely love it ,had it several years but are of switching to the 14 because it’s more economical and don’t have to fill up every 100 miles.
You can cruise no problems. Last weekend was out with a Victory group going over the Highwood pass (highest pass in Canada). The mighty ZX14 can just sit and cruise with no issues. So you can cruise... or you can cruise missile. And yes getting those cans off give that bike an amazing sound. She is a long distance hyperbike.
I got my 2022 back in April and I think I'm in the minority when it comes to the exhaust cans....I love the way they look and sound and the smaller aftermarket pipes take away from the aesthetic look of the motorcycle....just my opinion of course. It's an absolutely awesome machine and I love riding the beast.
When I got my zx14 2009 it already had Yosh pipes on her. But I toned them down alot... they were way way to loud. I did like the original ones but alas the owner didn't have them anymore. I have been able to "tune" the yosh so they have just the right amount of sound. Deeper but not annoying.
What a beast!
Send it!
That'll be great content !
I had a 2009 zx-14 SE (the orange and black one with 27000km (16000mi) on it) - everything you said is correct. Mine had no rider aids, no abs, nothing, just all about the rider. Over here in New Zealand our roads are narrow and windy which is generally fun, but the 14 being so long made it quite a lot of work. Some times you just want to enjoy the ride and not have to work so hard. I have a triumph Tiger now and its much better suited to the roads here.
Anyway, it was one of the most fun bikes I have ever owned, I probably would have kept it but my old arthritic hips + the amount of work to ride it made the pain worse than the enjoyment. Not many people regret owning a ZX-14.
I test rode the latest Ohlins edition ZX14 in NZ and i personally felt it was the worst bike ive ever ridden. I preferred the Versys 1000
I have the 2009 special edition (burnt candy orange). Have the wheel at a 55 instead of the 50. She turns in so beautifully. It is a pleasure no matter what gear what rpm ... you have the power. But it can cruise beautifully as well.
@@kellygrant4964 yes they handle really well, but over here in New Zealand our roads are not like yours. Some of the best roads are tight, you meet a truck coming the other way, or even a car or a van, and you are too close the center line.. boomfa. These roads are SLOW on a zx-14, very slow, but on a liter bike its 20-30mph faster.
@@GeoffGummer Living in the foothills of the Rockies is great. Perfect for the ZX14. Even when coming across hairpins the roads are still decently wide. But having all those beautiful sweepers is a dream on this bike.
Great content. I’m a fan of the zx-14. Thnx for a detailed ride/ walk around.
I had the lineage, KZ1000, ZX11, ZZR1200❤, 06 ZX14. Greatest bikes ever, really.
Jets + Kawasaki = Top Gun which makes you Moto Cruse ......I'm here all week
Love this review! Lots of info and funny! 😆 Amazing bike.
35 years sportsbike-experience biker here. It's the best bike ever and just like my '99 CBR1100 Blackbird I'll keep it. I'd have done the same to my '92 GSXR1100, but some xxxx overlooked me and wrecked the bike and myself. So, lesson #1 to beginners, always assume you're invisible.
Hope you actually bought it.
I watch many of your excellent videos, I never saw you so excited....
MY 2022 ZX-14R was my first bike purchase, put a few thousand on others bikes of various sizes and types. Rode a 06 ZX-14 a bit, I'm a big guy and have put 6600 miles on mine without issue. Most of the 6600 being twisty stuff, I live in the Appalachian mountains and nearly every road in any direction from my house looks like Tail of the Dragon. It had 80 miles on the odometer before it got full exhaust, derestricted and tuned. I easily passed the motorcycle licensing test here in WV and the test admin was surprised I had zero issues, not a single penalty, so despite being large and fairly heavy they do handle well and are quite responsive.
I have a 2013 ZX14R I bought used it came with some 1in risers under the clip ons they make a huge difference in comfort,
I just purchased a 2023 ZX14R I LOVE HER!!!
This bike is a must to have in your stable. I have a Kawasaki concours 1400 with that same motor and cherish it so much.
Concours is not the same engine. Both totally different.
Miramar… and jumping on a raging Kawasaki….
Mav would be proud.
Nice to see you give the 14 some love. A lot of 14 haters out there. Mines a 2013 so she's feeling her age. Thanks for the vid.
I knew you'd like it! Buy it and give it a try. I'm on my second ZX14R and I even the new Hayabusa is not enough to entice me.
5:40 - "Will I make the green light?..."
My brother took my 1981 GPz1100 to work late one night. He was at a similar overpass signal setup, except he was going straight. Either my brother was early and ran a red, or it was the '72 Chevy Nova that was blowing his yellow coming off the highway from the right, but my brother hit the side of the Nova just behind its front wheel at over 60 mph.
His clutch hand came off the grip. He bent the bar forward with his throttle hand, shattering his arm and wrist. The bike yawed right and crushed his right leg against the car, breaking his shin in three places. As he was launched, the car's windshield struck him. He flew over 80 feet through the air and landed in the street on his forehead, then slid down the road on his face, destroying the Snell approved full face helmet. The motorcycle and car were both totaled.
Fortunately. a rescue squad happened to be at the bottom of the overpass. They arrived at the scene in less than two minutes. They resuscitated my brother, who was wearing a heavy leather jacket, and he survived, thank God. Two years later, he had mostly recovered.
lol! I too was an idiot in The Marines, first bike was ZX-6R, then got a ZX-10R, then started getting naked bikes… FZ-8… FZ-09… but the ZX-14 has been my unicorn bike since 2008. It’s still on the list, but right now I have a Grom and a Versys X 300, which I dropped the other day in a parking lot while practicing slow speed stuff, it’s my first ADV bike, a little taller than what I’m used to, still getting used to it. But yeah… the 14 or the Busa… my end of the line bike will be one of those.
..absolutely buy it , you never know when Kawasaki will stop making it! I thought about getting one last yr and still may.
Im a big boy so i need a big boy bike. Zx14 def my next bike. Love it. Thanks bro
What a bike! I would like to see more fun videos with this bike!
1441cc inline 4. 17-42 Sprocket gearing. Remove the top speed limiter and tune the bike with an aftermarket exhaust, and it will put down above 210 HP and 130 lb-ft of torque. And the removal of the stock system lightens the bike by almost 40 pounds. So you can have a sub-600 pound bike capable of 200+ MPH.
Greetings,
As always another fantastic detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸
Got 1 and absolutely love it 💯, nice review...
Life is short ... buy the bike !! I did ... it's one of the best bikes I have owned. I put the Yoshimura slip ons on mine, and it's not super loud but drops some weight and looks much better in my opinion :) When it comes to explaining the power to people .. I generally say it is smooth and feels like riding on a turbine :)
Glad you did a new zx14r video, the previous one was an insult to this Legend.
Yes buy it
This video was good organic content. More like this please!
BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!!!❤
Yes, buy it! I own a 2020, and put Yoshimura r77 carbon fiber slip ons, and handle bar risers. It’s comfortable, and not too loud. FYI, the zx14r runs really warm, and is not fan of city light to light riding.
Sooo want this . I’m obsessed with the fact it’s a comfortable cruiser when I want it and a beast when u need it . Other sport bikes are so uncomfortable for long days .
Can’t wait to see Kawasaki update this epic motorcycle!
Love the review! Owned 2 Hayabusas in my past now own a leftover 2023 ZX14 and it is more comfortable than the busa. They are different for sure. The exhaust, including factory manifolds, is 40lbs. Ditching mine.
I think this is more comfortable too
Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking at a ZX14r because it’s cheaper than the liter bikes.
Go grab that bike.... You only live once and you'll absolutely love it.
Buy it. This would really put in perspective how far skill can take you regardless of the size bike.
Buy it! Comfort, power all in one.
Yes buy it! I currently own a ZZR1200 the ZX14's older brother with carb's
Yessss! ZX14R for life!!!
Get the handlebar risers which raise the bars about 3/4 inch higher than stock. It will be really comfortable then. I own a 'busa and a 14 and the Kawi is a much more comfortable bike to ride. Mine is a 2013 and it has been super-reliable and super fast too!
Love my 2017 zx14r
Now, thats a BIG BIG boy with a lot of power, have you checked ninja 1000 SX for long ride and decent commuter ?
I believe 2020 and upwards come with quickshifter up and down, cruise control, traction control, IMU and a bunch of other stuff
My buddy bought one last year and he loves it. Kawasaki killed it with that bike....you get an awesome engine with all kinds of technology for an extremely competitive price.
Yes buy it that's my dream bike
I have 2021 zx14r with Yoshimura slip on and Healthec quick shifter. The exhaust is not loud, but it sounds deep and low. Love my bike.
LOVE the ZX14....wish I had just kept mine after trying other things...want another one❤
And 110 in shade yesterday here in dfw Tx
whether you buy it or not, ill still watch your videos. that bike is pretty dang sweet tho. if you like it enough, go for it bro!
Between this and the cfmoto ibex 800 which would you choose for mile crunching and why
I have 2017 it is in Europe ZX14 and love it!
Paying homage to Top Gun
Greg, you should definetly buy it! I had the chance to buy a clean used one like it pre 2019 for under 13K. The only thing that stopped me, is the insurance company I had everything covered under, would not insure these or Busa's (or anything Sport over 999cc). It really pisses me off that I let that one go, as they never come down under 20K now. Such a unique and amazing sport bike you can ride all day. Also thank you for driving the point home on suspension, it really is the most important part of getting a bike setup.
Damn where do you live, I paid 13k out the door for mine. I have progressive and my insurance is $52 month.
ive got the 2018 se model and I really like it a lot. Great bike but changing the plugs is a real pain. Too bad you cant get Brocks stuff in California. really makes a difference. I came from a gen 1 busa and loved it. rode that for about 12 years. The zx14r is a bit more comfy to ride but the bus turns a little easier in the corners I think. still love it though.
Hi Greg. I have a 2012 and I take it to the track 2 days per season just to shave rubber off rhe sides of the tires.
Buy it ,you've the right roads, had a 2012 second gen with 13k miles last year .Previous owner spent thousands ,full akra, think was chipped 207 rwp and 126 Ft/lb .Ohlins rear etc, etc.
Monster but where I live the roads are shit man.
Was like wrestling a blue whale and I'm getting on .
Highway destroyer for sure .
Such an engine ...
Can't go wrong..
Kawasaki really needs to update this motorcycle.
Here some suggestions:
The front design is fine as is I think (perhaps some modification to loose weight, LED lights, mirror revise)
The rear/tail needs some work for sure (slim down the tail, make it more pointy, loose weight, gain some trunk space perhaps?)
The factory exhaust is heavy/hideous (what if they used 2 zx10r exhausts instead?)
Dash re-design needed (perhaps the H2 SX SE dash would be best suited)
Add quick shifter, cruise control, 6-axis imu, launch control
Add Electronically Controlled Suspension (unless the price will be inflated too much, cause you want it to sell as well)
Seen a more of the 14s with panniers then without, great touring, and gear is go gear, and fuel economy isn’t bad also
I have the 2021. I ended up throwing some all carbon Yoshi slip on's, a race air filter, HealTech QS, and Moore Mafia ECU flash. Thank goodness for the Brembos!
You’re lucky you can still buy them, in the uk the last zzr 1400 was in 2018 due to emissions crap🤨 I’m currently on a gs1200 adventure and looking at the zzr 1400 used of course, as long as it isn’t as extreme riding position as my k5 Gsxr 1000 which is just used occasionally in summer.
Hey Motojistu! Been following for a while, first time commenting. Love your vids when you ride the 94, I ride it with a 250cc tho - kinda sketchy. But I wondering if this bike would be "too much" for that hwy, what bike would you say is best suited for the twistys? Stay safe out there!
I hope you do get it. That's an extremely fun bike
Get it brother amazing motorcycle
