This week on the dyno we had the pleasure of taking in this beautiful Brand New Kawasaki ZX14r! This motorcycle came in completely stock and looking for a power upgrade! Before we get started, we did a base line dyno run to see what the stock hp numbers are on the new zx14r. Once we got that, we installed a full titanium Brocks CT 4-1 exhaust system, Sprint PO8 air filter, HealTech quick shifter, Brocks Clutch mod, Oiling mods, fender eliminator and stuck it on the dyno. As always, we did another base line run with the upgrades. The new Dyno numbers looked good, but improved massively after a full ECU flash and tune. This brand new motorcycle on the dyno made some incredible numbers for a street bike!!

Great Video!!!!
great video.. now i need to go check my oil level 👍
Nice video. Keep doing what your Doing, its Greatly appreciated....
Appreciate it bro! 🙏
This was a very insightful video! I've been the biggest advocate for going the full exhaust route, but forward I will need to balance cost vs.potential performance gains. A stock bike made 5hp less than a Brock out ZX14R, and I'm pretty sure that if you lost the massive slip ons and fitted a pair of slip ons with the stock headers and performed a dyno run, the gap between just having slip ons vs a blocked out system would be even less. The biggest performance gain is the ECU/derestricting flash. So just a guesstimate is that going with a full system vs slip ons w/ stock header would yield you 2-3 horsepowers...at least on this particular bike.
Love these style of videos! Thank you! Watching from Perth, Australia
Wow that's awesome! Thank you so much for the compliment 🙌🤙
Epic instructional video! Really enjoyed the technical aspects over the clutch/oil pan disassembly.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤙🙌
Removing the Evap system and puting block off plates really frees up space for wiring up a quick shifter changing spark plugs
Correct. The qs system we installed is actually pretty low key and small 👍👍
Loving how the vids are coming out. Trust it will pay off. I love love how you guys detail the mods. Even bigger channels don’t do that. I for one appreciate the extra teaching other than just a Dyno Queen. Is that Motul or a Amsoil Break in Oil.
Congrats on the gains guys. Keep doing this, no other channel is Proving Power like this. 👏🏾👏🏾
I appreciate it ya bro greatly! It's a ton ton ton of work to do while doing all the other work as well but it is worth it I feel. We used motul 7100 on this bike. I like that or the semi blend that Ecstar provides for any break in stuff. But ultimately we run motul oils 👍👍
Great video! Keep up the good work! Yes that colour is stunning!
Thank you very much 🙏 it is greatly appreciated 🤙
I have a brand new `22 ZX14 as well. See you soon!
Great content, well done and explained!! Not a Kawi guy anymore but respectable bike w gobs of power!
Again, great video!
I’m def subscribing!
Thank you for the good words 🙏
Awesome video
Can You Put a Link for the Quickshifter,, I need one for my 14 too,
Bravo …!!!
Nice job ..!!!
Wake up the beast…!!!
Great video, really appreciate the thorough explanations. Could you make a video on dropping the front forks?
Yeah sure man! Like how to lower a bike?
wish i lived closer to you. I want all of these done on my 14
What was the cost for this mod?
Great content sir!
New subscriber.
I appreciate the support! 🙌
Been loving my zzr1200. Dont really "need" another bike but if i bought one, I'd be the zx14
Love the video👌👌Are you able to tell me what you have settings on for the healtech QuickShifter? I had it going but every now and then it would find false neutrals
If you are finding false neutrals then typically, that means kill times are too short, or you are not making a clean shift (like being lazy on the shifter with your foot by not inputting enough pressure). What are your kill times currently and what rpms is It doing that at?
Love the vid I have a 2010 zx14 (ZZR1400) and I love my bike am planning yo get mine on a local Dyno to see what figures she is pulling at her age 👍🏼🏍💨
Amazing job great video thanks for sharing I have a 2023 kawasaki zx14r I'm going with that same brocks exhaust system and the ecu flash do you recommend doing the brocks clutch also thanks in advance
Depends on what you're using it for truthfully. If just street riding then nah, but if you plan on racing it, then I would recommend it 👌
Thank you I appreciate it
I got the same package on the same bike and I absolutely love it! Zx14R, best kept secret. Does everything just right, a forever bike(a keeper)❤
They are monster bikes from factory for sure! Just need to tweak them a bit to pull it out 💪
I really enjoy your videos very helpful thank you
Thank you for the compliment 🙌 we will continue to provide badass videos and keep showing what others won't 🤙
Man ive got a 2015 zx14r, ive taken that thing apart all the way. Just taking the skin off is a major Pain lol. It runs like a missile, love this bike. Ive always kept my oil level all the way up top. Mobil racing 4t. 10w40 full advanced synthetic.
It's was really good video 📹
Nice. Beautiful bike
Thanks bro!
Really enjoy your videos and appreciate you run the bike stock first and dont forget etc like sum other you tuber
I appreciate that! We will try to keep bringing honest, truthful numbers as we keep making bigger and better videos 🤟
I would like to see and hear a video of you riding it going through the gears
Just bought new 2023 zx-14r. Earned a sub! Nice video
Badass and congrats! I appreciate the sub! 💪💪 if you have any questions or want to see anything specific, let us know 🙌
Great content. I am always curious about the weight of the exhaust system. Factory vs after market. Thanks
And no other or many other channels do this.
I agree, that colorway is vicious, very nice. I was dangerously close to getting a 14 before my 10R, this damn near makes me regret it. I know Sprint is the go to filter in the street scene, but I’d like to see the results of this 14 with the same mods but with a DNA filter just to see if there would be any difference. Regardless, it’s a stunning 14, with some very respectable gains. Definitely appreciate the advice with the oil fill level, definitely good to know owning its little brother. Awesome video keep it up, and can’t wait to get my bike in there.
I appreciate the good words Rick! And no worries we will be here whenever you're ready bro! 🤙
DNA quotes 164.70 CFM flow on the OEM filter and 188.20 CFM on the DNA.
Sprint isn't quoting the increased flow, but they do boast a slightly better flow than the cotton gauze style filters (What DNA runs), in general.
Like seeing stock numbers then the tuned numbers! Let her rip!
That is the goal behind the channel, to show what it will do in real time with real setups. Not "claimed" hp numbers. On top of that, I love it when people can see it stock so they learn what the differences are between crank hp and wheel hp.
How are you doing this when the recommended break in period is a 1000 miles are you not risking damaging the engine?
Had a 2013 ! Full yosh and flash, it did 210 HP and 126 lbs of torques
Did the 2013 have power control and anti-wheelie etc?
Awesome
Did you have to press the shaft out of the gear on the oil pump to fit the billet plate ? If so was it hard to do ? Just thinking if someone wants to do this at home they will need to know this.
So the oil pump gear is pressed onto the shaft. When you are just swapping the oil pump plate, you do not need to press anything on or off. Only when you are swapping the oil pump gear 🤙
If you are doing the gear, it can get a little sketchy pressing the oem one off and high volume gear on. I've broken a few figuring it out 😅
I have that bike and will be tuning shortly to try to get to 200+ hp
Can i ask why you say that slipper style clutch? When there is actually a thing slipper clutch. Can be confusing to some. Just asking.
Looks good what’s your location
Leave it little rich upstairs wait till ram air kicks in 😂
There are xompensation tables built into ecu that account for ram air. I've done a few tests now on dyno vs street and the AFR's are pretty similar actually
would of liked to see that billit oil pump cover and lil more detail on taking aoart and installing in all areas but kool good content never watched your stuff before watched all of cris moore vids he knows his shit good as well good video really like the titainum pipe
I know, I tried to video it, but between tuning and the guys wanting to get the job done, we missed that part of the filming process. I appreciate the feedback 🙏
Hello! I’m looking at you from Belarus, tell me, did you change the drive shaft gear, does it have 32 teeth? and the stock is 35 teeth
@user-dk1yk6bj5g so here in America we have issues with the traction control interference if we change gearing on the 2012+ ZX14Rs (especially the 2016+ models). I usually do not change gearing too much if the customer is riding in the street.
Ya i checked these out,but bought a brand new zx10r krt instead
I purchased a 2023 a few weeks ago. Still has 2mi on it. What's a job like this run approximately?
With everything this customer included, parts and labor came out roughly to $5,000.
Another awesome video. I have a 14R that just did 203.3 MPH at Loring with just a Hindle pipe and stock air filter... We also broke the Guiness World Record for riding two-up at 188.9 MPH (vid for proof on my channel). They are amazing bikes.
This winter I will be having Carpenter Racing do headwork, bore it to 1495cc, and have already purchased CoroMoto Apex 6 wheels.
Have you ever worked with 14Rs with built motors (N/A)? Was also considering having them bore the throttle bodies, they claim an additional 5-6hp but not sure. Maybe with the increased airflow with the worked head and increased displacement with the bore?
Would be cool to bring it to you guys to tune it once it's all said and done. Think it would make for a sweet video.
That's pretty cool! And yes we have tuned many built motor setups. Some from kws, carpenter, rcperformance, and our own in house builds that we have done.
The bored throttle body assembly we have yet to test on the 14R. I have extensive testing with this in automotive world and they usually do pick up a few hp when done correctly. 👍👍
When you put the full system exhaust did the ecu have to be flashed for the engine light to go away for no o2 sensor
Yessir. We flash the ecu and turn off a lot of those sensors to get rid of check engine lights
Will oil mods help with perfomance
No sir. It's more for safety over anything else. These like to spin the #3 rod bearing due to oil pressure issues. The oil mods help prevent this from happening 🤙
@@provenpowercycles ok thanks
Can the ct exhaust be tuned at the headers or does it need o2 bungs for that to happen?
I don't recommend tuning open header (if I'm reading that correctly). We use the supplied wideband bung on the e haust system when tuning these pipes
Wanted to see oil return plate fitted what brand eng oil did you use ? I like the grey too but got the 20 colors 🇬🇧
We typically run motul 7100 10w-40 in our street bikes and sorry we get caught up in the jobs and miss filming parts of the builds !
@Proven Power Cycles I only run semi in my zx14 as have heard of a few case's of gear coggs working loose a retaining bolt' blamed on fully synthetic. I'm running my busas gen2-3 on 7100 5w40 though. But am changing gen2 to semi as missing 6th gear selection under power some times!! Was good to see you haven't forgotten the mighty zx14 it's my favourite bike even over my h2, keep the good content coming I'd rather its longer than brief to cover all procedures. 👌
P.s not sure about the clutch mod I understand that stronger springs on a slipper clutch counter acts the action ie clutch will resist slipping on de-sel so rear wheel could lock unless you do the whole conversion so aren't concerned for a slipper clutch as there's a reason the clutch is light so there's less resistance on de-sell and it locks anyway on exel the mod is to have more controlled on launching so unless your doing drag starts 51% or more no need for mod' I like the slipper clutch on mine as it assist wheelies of the line when it locks.
@richardwoodhouse8397 I appreciate the good words. And there are so many debates on oil. I just tell people as long as you run Jason MA oil and it's filled to the appropriate level, then it will be okay 👍👍 as far as the slipper clutch with springs, it was an odd request from the owner of the bike but it is working ! It did great on the dyno, showed no power loss or slippage, and owner is enjoying the bike greatly!
The concept was to still retain an oem slip while making sure clutch can hold the power still on the big end and that's what it did after testing it!
@Proven Power Cycles slipper clutches don't slip though only on de-sel they don't need stronger springs it's only if you want to control the initial bite for off the line then they lock as far as I understand it.
Hello, what do you think my odds of spinning a bearing are without any oil mods? I'd like to have it tuned to eliminate the flat spots in the lower rpm range, not for power gains. I want a smoother, responsive throttle.
It all depends on how you ride your bike. If you are beating on it, doing wheelies (whether it be on purpose or if it is just lifting from acceleration), then I would highly recommend doing this. If you are just cruising around most of the time and light acceleration then overall you should be okay.
The biggest takeaway I can recommend is keep the oil level high!! 👌 tuning will really help with the smooth on throttle response and quicker acceleration. 👍
Man just change the pump plate and keep that gun away from your damn head bruh. Stop being that it ain’t happened yet guy.
I have a yoshimera r55 4 into 1 on my 2013 does the brocks make that much more hp
They will be similar top end wise (usually within a couple of hp from our experiences).
Do you ever tune using 89 octane fuel (rather than the 90 specified by Kaw) as Brock himself likes to do?
I believe the MR 12 race fuel is around 87 or 88 octane?
J
I have tested 89 before on ZX14Rs and on one bike we picked up 1-2 whp but on the other we lost power (I forgot how much and didn't datalog it back then). I would love to test it again though.
MR12 is actually rated 93oct in the US. We us the (R+M)/2 method of calculating octane ratings here, and it comes out to 93. MR12 has an oxygen content of 8.73% (which is what makes it so potent).
What can you say about using 100-LL aviation gasoline?
I worked for 20 years in aviation ground support and sump fuel went into all my non-cat vehicles. It makes for such a sweet smelling exhaust and spills quickly dry with no lingering oder or oily residue. It is said to contain ~4 times the TEL of the old leaded 95 premium.
I started running about 50/50 Aeroshell 15W50, after I was caught two quarts low one night and had no oil in the trunk. It contains an additive that prevents Lycoming engine valves from sticking (lead?). It immediately cured a stuck valve in my '73 Impala 350 small block that night, when no other additive could. I didn't notice any effects on my GPz1100 wet clutch.@@provenpowercycles
What's the damage for this set up for a 21 zx14r?
All the parts and labor came out to around $5,000 roughly. Exhaust alone is around $2,300 or so.
what quick shifter did you use please and thank you.
Healtech. They are solid once you calibrate them in 👍
What state are you located in?
We are located in Saint Petersburg, FL 👍
That is all soooo dope. Amazing machine. Amazing job, dudes. I just have one question; how much for 16 additional HP and the torque gains? It's already a $20K machine, how much more to do all of those mods? Hours of labor, parts, the exhaust alone has to be in $2K range...Why is that not ever discussed in these forums? Is it illegal to speak of such things? This curious, budget minded speed freak needs to know...thanx
$5K ... I kept reading the comments. Wow. For 16 HP. But it runs better, weighs less, on 93 octane pump gas. Not bad. Less than I thought it was gonna be. I gotta go, asking the boss for a raise ;)
Yeah the parts alone total roughly $3,000. There are cheaper options out there to bring that tab down to around the $3,000 range.
There are a ton of parts you can choose from and we like to build the bikes to owners liked and wants. Every build is unique and varies in pricing 🤙
@@provenpowercycles thanx for the quick reply. I appreciate your attention to detail and it looks y'all got it going on. I get wanting to keep the stock slipper clutch in tact, but I'm wondering how you guys feel about the new springs with the OEM slipper? I don't recall you mentioning that after the dyno. Do you forsee any issues with that combo? I realize it's "just for street use", but I am pretty hard on my machines, just wondering how it might work out long term street/canyon/all day screamer rides..thanx again
@@craigwilliams3721 I wouldn't recommend leaving those factory springs for slipper in if you are hard on the bike. It won't grab the same as if you put the billet spacer in. I would recommend the full brocks kit.
Trailer a ZX14r? They LOVE the open road.
My '14 14r makes as much power as my gen3 busa, should I be proud of the Kaw, or Pi$$ed off at the busa?
My flashed '20 ZH2 is my bragging bike for HP...
To bad great places like this are all way down in the states. Would love to have my ZX14 tuned but up north in Canada and it just seems nobody does this.
Well if you ever wanted a mail in flash, we offer that as well. 🤟
Where abouts in canada are you? I've mapped them in Sk.
Am in Calgary. Just don't want any yoho doing this type of work. Easy to have some equipment but having somebody will true knowledge is hard to find!
@@provenpowercyclesI've got the two brothers slip ons and a PC5 running the two brothers tune. Also have a 02 sensor delete. Would a mail in flash tune get me any more than the PC5?
@gelley46 I wouldn't say it would get you more top end but you can lower the fans, Disable Top Speed Limiter, and adjust the secondary throttle plates. And depending on your year you can always disable other emission sensors thru ecu.
What a beaut 😍 though it's too much bike for me and my purposes.
Thank you! 🙏
I'm actually interested in all of these mods for my 2023 ZX14R. Out the door what did this cost?
Hey Ethan give us a shout today if you are interested in this package! 727-256-0001 🙌
What could I get without sacrificing stock stealth exhaust?
Not much more than stock hp. The less you change (as far as air flowing in or out of the motor), then your gains will be minimal.
Is this bike a full on sportbike or more of sport tourer like the hayabusa?
More a sports tourer like the hayabusa
Sport touring 👍👍
Goes faster than a sport bike, lol, but sport touring only 50 bucks a month insurance full coverage, lol, see what a true sport bike cost, 1000 cc shit, lol🤑
Insurance , sees touring, hmm, alot cheaper, even thou goes 200 mph 200 hp, lol,😎
Had 012 zx14r ninja for 7 years, so i know, then bought a hd Fatty, cost 58 bucks,a month full coverage, shit Harley bikes, lol, 🤑🤑
What brand is the oil pump mod ?
Sae out law or you can check out ape performance
Probably dropped about 32 pounds of mass with the full Ti exhaust system. That stock system is like a couple of grain silos strapped to the sides. I know it's wildly expensive, but carbon fiber wheels would transform his handling if he ever got interested, besides dropping a lot more bulk.
In one of our other videos we weighed our turbo 14r drag bike and it's down to 428lbs 👌
@@provenpowercycles That's pretty astounding, considering it's approaching 600 pounds, stock.
@@lifted_above thank you. It took a lot of work to get it there!
Crazy thing it doesnt come with a quick shifter alr 😂😂
I know it's insane that it doesn't from factory!
Have to remember it’s made for touring it’s not intended for a track like the sports bikes
@@Aladinscavelike me touring the streets at mach Jesus
@@AladinscaveYes and no. Remember that the ZX-14R is a hybrid Touring AND Performance bike:
1. It doesn't wear the "Ninja" moniker for no reason.
2. In 2012, when the ZX-14 went from a 1399cc engine to a 1441cc engine in the new 'R' version, it wasn't because Touring guys were complaining about not having enough horsepower.
The ZX-14 was Kawasaki's Flagship bike. When they upgraded to the 14(R), it was because they wanted to maintain street superiority over the Suzuki Hyabusa.
3. Kawasaki (to this day) on their website, touts the ZX-14R as "The Quarter Mile King".
4. From the time of it's release in 2006 until the debut of the H2 in 2017, the ZX-14 was THE FASTEST production bike on the planet.
So yes, it's partially a "touring" bike, but Touring buyers aren't what's kept the ZX-14R continuing to be produced and sold, even after it was banned from being sold European and Australian markets because of strict emissions. It's because the ZX-14R is still the most impressive large displacement bike built.
And while it's still incredibly fast, bone stock, you can mod it to be insanely fast, keep up with the H2, AND still be comfortable on 4 and 5 hour rides!
@@Jeremiah_Johnson139you are mostly correct except it was a 1352, not 1399.
the bike won't almost wheelie in every gear!
I'd love to see a video on how to seal up all the holes in the frame/airbox for a turbo build
I am fixing one currently and filming it. Expect to see that video in the next few weeks 🙌
@@provenpowercycles awesome!!! Currently building a turbo kit for my zx14r from scratch. Any info/ help is greatly appreciated. Not my first turbo build but it is my first on a zx14.
@greenturbo1047 there are a ton of holes in the frame that need to be plugged up!
@@provenpowercycles yea that's what I've been reading but can't find good pictures anywhere...helps a lot to see what needs to be done than read it. Already had plates made for the big holes but still need to modify them to seal properly. As I said before, any info is greatly appreciated. Also curious if you do ecu flashes and if so how much? I don't need a tune or anything as I will be doing that through a pc5 but I would like to get engine lights turned out and have the rev limiter changed to a hard limiter instead of the soft..and maybe raised up a slight bit higher...
How much was that exhaust?
They retail at $2,399.00 USD. I usually can get them slightly cheaper than that 🤙
Can you do abs delete on 23?
Yes we can 🤙
@@provenpowercycles can I just send the ecu , the motor is in a car
@996turbo no sir. You cannot delete abs thru ecu. Do you just have the light on?
@@provenpowercycles I pulled the motor from the bike I’m putting it in little race car ,so I don’t need abs
@@996turbo you will be okay if you don't hook up the pump and hardlines. Are you using the zx14r dash and harness?
I didn't even know that people still bought these things.
Yep all the time 👍👍
I thought I wanted the ZX14..but after realizing I need to do these same mods, myself, Im going with the Hayabusa...that's a pretty badly needed mod. on the oil pump...no thanks
The sad part of this is that it is a big waste of money. I got me a Suzuki GSXS1000 and I got already 2 speeding tickets. I was not even making triple digits when I had a cop on my assh. Maybe I can ride it on a track but for street riding it is a big NO. One cannot even use half of the power of these bikes, why mess with the bike's performance anyway?
Sadly, I had to park my Suzuki GSXS1000 on my garage and continue ridding in the streets my Honda CB500F and my Kawasaki Z650. What a waste of money!
That’s why I will never stop for any cop
