    Someone is surprised that restaurants get dirty dishes and they sometimes stack up? It would be bad if those dishes didn't get cleaned properly.

      Why do you go and say that dishwashers are mistreated everyday and anywhere yes to have it like that If there's no people there is ridiculous but at a buffet like this sometimes they can't get the dishes done before break and then the backups are helping with making food and making sure that the guests are ok I've been there where we couldn't get the dishes done til late because of the number of guests who come in can or even someone who is sick and called in to get out of working for that day when they're actually sick

    I don't get it. What's the big deal? Does this customer expect each dirty plate is washed as soon as a customer finishes with it? This person needs a job in food service for just one week. Reality check time.

      Unless you were thee that day you don't know why the food was there like that.
      By the looks of things they might have been slammed or had an employee or two call in sick and maybe didn't have time to immediately wash the dishes or clean the food on the floor up.
      A lot of people expect kitchens to be perfectly clean at all times even when super busy. Well from my experience working food service that rarely if ever happens.

      courterikasmom that's not the point the problem is that the back was a mess there is no excuse for that dish room to look like that these managers must be lazy at least clean the damn floor or consolidate one of your employees over to the dish room come on now.

    I've been in the food service business 20 years when the dishmachine down. you go old school 3 compartment sink . trust me been there done that

      Same here! There are many other circumstances that could happen every once in awhile too, but if the dishwasher goes out your slowed down dramatically. They could of sweeped up the garbage on the floor real quick.

      Dishwasher was my first job in high school. I work in the oil field now and can 100% say, dishwashing is the easiest job I’ve ever had.

    Being a dishwasher myself this is 100 percent true there will just be mountain's of dishes pots and pans it is insane just seeing how much stuff come's back to be washed. And when they said a dish washing machine is not required telling you right now that is a load of crap if restaurant's did not have those machine's you would be cleaning dishes all night and probably all of the following day by hand with probably very little to no help at all from anyone else.

    I used to work in a restaurant and I can say working as a dishwasher is a hard job, I remember one day when the dishwasher machine broke down and they had to start washing everything by hand, it was so bad they made some of the waiters wash their own utensils that day. That’s why each time I was about to close down the soda machine I always offer to bring them a drink since they were usually always the last ones to leave

    I worked at the one in New Braunfels, TX and it was exactly like that picture. Only one person to handle the dishes. All the dishes that were supposed to be clean were still dirty.

    I used to be a dishwasher. Once at Atlanta Bread Company, and once at Golden Corral. I quit to pursue a career in carpentry, and it's awesome. Better pay, great hours and there's no stress! Find a job in what you love doing.

    I've never worked in a Golden Corral but i can relate to the dishwasher breakdown during busy hours. Not a very pleasant news for dishwasher all the way to management. Dirty dishes DO stack up fast. food and gunk goes all over from floor to behind the sink. Is very common in any restaurant with a "dish pit" to get nasty. I talk from experience scrubbing away a never ending stack for the last 8 years as a Dishwasher/Sanitation guy.

    For real, I only lasted like three four days at the Golden corral by my house cuz it was a really hard shift to work. And I have worked some hard dishes shifts in my life. The biggest thing for me there was the trash chute, it was very impractical, ineffective and difficult to use.

    I've done repairs at golden Carrol, when equipment break's down the restaurant manager's make it happen to get the dishes washed the best way a 3-bay sink every equipment break's nothing last for every you want to complain about golden Carrol, well i hate to bust your bubble every restaurant has issues even your most expensive restaurant's. That's why we have food inspector's ,to keep the restaurant's in track.

    I used to work at Golden Corral in North Carolina for two years and it does get like that especially on weekends" the dishwashers get the most beatings and sometimes no backup" Blame this on the Waitresses that are Thirsty for customer Tips!... SMFH 😔😡

      Never worked for GC but put many years in other places and yep used to see some down right BS from servers...waiting until the end of the night to bring back 5 tables of dishes..seen them leave entire bus tubs, trays ,etc.. not even bother to empty them...throw drinks on the dish table and splash the dishwasher in the eyes, seen them go back in the dish pit to steal silverware, you name it..not all servers but definitely a lot of them who didnt give a damn how they treated the dishwasher. I moved up to working on the line in the kitchen but I always remembered and tried to take care of my dishwasher

    I went into a Golden Corral and there were customers allowed in with absolutely filthy clothes on. One looked like he had been working in a pig sty all day and is shirt was black with dirt. I will never go there again. That man was leaning over food trays, food customers eat.

    im a dishwasher at tacos for life in arkansas. people need to understand that things happen. just hiring a dish washer is a pain in the butt because not many people want to do that kind of job because in the restaurant business that has to be one of the most hardest positions. every time i close my co workers always praise me for my willingness to do this job because none of them want to deal with the painstaking job after the shift. to add on to that, mechanical issues happen, which means we are sometimes in the unfortunate position to have to hand wash the dishes until they can get the washer fixed

    We were at the one in Greenwood Indiana today and had both good and bad things happen. Each time I go up to get a plate i'm forced to look at two or three just to find a clean one. Now for the good, my first trip up to get food they were out of mashed potato's. I just found some other things to eat and as I walked up I told my wife they were out and sat down and started eating. About ten minutes later the manager walked up and asked if I ever found any mashed potato's. I told him no, then he handed me some, I was shocked! I never said a word to anyone while I was getting my food only to my wife at the table when I returned. We go every two or three weeks and we see the same people eating there each time, our waitress told us that some come everyday. Some of them were their when we sat down with plates stacked up and still eating when we leave. Over all we like going from time to time and enjoy watching the people as much as anything, it can be very entertaining.

    Let me ask you people this...What does your kitchen look like after you eat? Do you always do the dishes first? Can imagine if you had 100's of people over for lunch? I bet some of you even leave your dishes for the next day, don't you. And no I don't work for Golden Corral. I don't eat at the Corral anymore either. But the reason I don't is because of all the waste I see going on there. People piling their plates full of food they don't eat. What's up with that?

    I worked at Golden Corral and they are obviously lying through there teeth. Golden Corral was the most unsanitary restaurant I have worked at. I was a cook and no matter how hard I cleaned, it was always disgusting. Managers always made workers keep their mouth's shut if something they were doing was shady. They always tried to not let me work 40 hours when it specifically said on my job application that I would get 40 hours of work. The managers always tried to make me work off the clock and I always refused because that is illegal. Point is, do not eat or work there.

    I love Golden Corral, the food tastes great for the price. I've never gotten sick and me and my family will continue to go! Lol my only complaint is remove the carpet! Sometimes it can smell unpleasant....also the bathrooms are always gross... But the food is fine.

      Right. I am from New York and drove to Erie pa once and said I’ve seen commercials for it all my life and decided to try it. It was insane there. I can easily see a scenario where this would happen. This would take twenty min to happen with how many people ate there. Lot of the people eating there grossed me out. 5 plates at once stealing all the food and not leaving some for others. People cutting and being ridiculous. These kind of jobs are beyond tough. Takes a lot for me to get mad at a restaurant. The server would have to be a complete jerk or something really wrong with the food for me to care.

    Hate to say it but all restaurants dish room look like that when its busy. I used to be a dishwasher, and pot and pan washer, and its hard work. Its exhausting and its hard on your body, and that was when I was younger..I cant even imagine doing that kind of work now at 51. God bless the people that do it. When the dishwasher breaks down the three step process has to be done, and that takes way more time to wash the dishes.

    Had anyone ever worked as a dishwasher in the backroom during busy hours..The dishes would be stack, idk how busy golden corral can get, but bc it's a all you can eat, I assume they would have/get alot of dishes every minute.

    Are you serious any good dishwasher would have gone through those dishes in about 30 minutes if that. And why the hell did the staff not stop that person going into the back of the restaurant. When you get slammed sometimes the dishpit area can look like that and how do we not know that it was during the mid shift change

    As long as they are returned clean to the restaurant, I don't see any problem. If it's very busy or the dishwasher broke down (or worse: both), dishes start stacking up very quickly.

      @Jebediah Harrington the one I used was the small one with the 2 spinning parts that washed above and below though it can get clogged so you’d take them out, unscrew the ends, and poke the gunk out.

    When you have pigs eating six and seven heaping plates each at a lunchtime rush, stacks like that are not uncommon when a dishwashing machine breaks down. Although, it looks bad and was an emergency because the clean dishes were not in the dining area but instead, stacked in the kitchen with the dirty dishes.

    It can be totally normal, when things are not properly organised, but there are more excuses, why it can look like that. Lack of personell or dishwashers out of service due malfunction. Or empty detergent supplies. Been there myself too. I think that Americans can be so difficult in certain situations, compared to here. You can actually do dishes, whichever you want, just as you keep to the sanitizing rules which are set in the law in your country. Just like the lady said in the video. But I prefer machine washing anyway, as there, temperatures and wash power are higher. Plus it goes much faster. I tell you this, IF our dishwasher would ever break (and that happens often!) We would NEVER go wash dishes by hand. Then all the dishes will either have to wait till it's fixed, or (and we do that most of the times) We'll wash them on our other dishwasher in a different part in the building.

    I've seen people who wash only one side, the eating side and when the dishwasher 'it' stack all the dish... that is how 'it' get all the plates dirty and not clean. Dish need to be wash both side, not one side

    I thought all restaurants have an employees only sign on the out side of the kitchen doors. It is there for a reason. I'm a dishwasher and I've had the dishmachine break down before stuff happens it's life.

    The worse and hardest thing I ever did while 7 years in the Army back in the 70's was pulling KP in basic and in Germany when the kitchen staff had to leave to get their visas renewed !

    I used to do dishes for a living, and I am not even going to lie, I would walk in on shift and it very often was at least that bad, if not worse. That actually looks like an easy go in that photo because it is mostly plates and that is pretty easy. Now imagine doing that huge mess several times in a night.

    What does it matter if it was a 30 second snapshot the picture doesn't LIE your kitchen looked like that. I don't get what this manager is trying to say the floor is filthy n the dishes were piled up. You can't say it's a lie anyone with eyes can tell the employees are lazy n aren't doing they job.

    I use to work i the restaurant industry, I worked in the pit (aka dish room).they don’t call it the Pit for a reason. When you’re the only one in the pit it’s gonna get slammed. Period. I used to work 8 hour shift on a Saturday it would be slammed from am well into the late hours of pm. That’s normal for me, I’d be the only one in the pit busting my back to keep up. Not only that, but I also had to do janitorial, as well as bust tables. As far as the garbage on the floor goes, that’s reckless behavior on the waiters part, for not being more careful. I was the lowest end on the todo pole of over worked and under paid.---

      --- and does management as well as the staff appreciate it let alone help out, hail no. They’d chew me out good. But somehow I manage to keep it caught up till My shift end, then I’d have to deal with the trash and busting tables cleaning etc. before I’d clock out, if the guys got behind I’d have to go get the pit caught up. I’m like what the hail, I kept it clean all by myself and there would be three of them & they’d still get slammed. And oh yeah
      mike love thyself is dead on about being lowest paid over worked utility worker as they titled my job. And hhds113 you are right, when I applied for that job years ago at a steak house they don’t mention the part on the application other things they have you do for what they pay others more. They just pile it on. Going in 4 am to clean up the dump, unload the trucks,stock the prep sink with potatoes so the prep can prep em. Mop sweep clean outside, vacuum the dinning room, put away the inventory etc, all before 10am. Next time you see something like that in the pix, just remember he’s only one man. And oh yeah that’s nothing what I went through, as far as the pix goes. The booster heater went out so Hobert man had to install a new one,it had taken have my shift, you couldn’t get in the pit without tripping all over the place. When the dish tank breaks, Lord have mercy on them. So I dont complain about dirty dishes or blah blah blah, I know what it’s like.

    Ask the health inspector and the manager why there's a pile of garbage on the kitchen floor of the restaurant. Golden Corral is a pigpen and always has been.

    it happens in a busy restaurant messes happen and sometimes the employees cant get to them right then and there, also it's a dish machine area where messes like that are a common site and with a dish machine broken it takes some much more time to wash dishes by hand than using a machine so the dish washers don't have time to clean up there area

    That kid and his father later tried to blackmail them for $5,000. It was a setup. He also has a criminal record. ""None of these items were served to a single customer. All were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management. Brandon Huber, the employee who made the video, participated in the disposal of the food.     Rilly? I am a server at golden corral, remember its a buffet and its a fast paced environment, not every golden corral place are like that its just happen that the moment the costumer seen it that way the dishwasher might too buisy taking care of the dishes, trash outside, cleaning at lobby and will eventually go back to the kitchen to fix that.
