I too got a lot of money knocked off the sticker price by FOrd financing incentives. I kind of wish I would have gotten the 5.0 instead, since I worry about these turbos going for shades of 20 years like my last two trucks did. Other than that. I love this truck. I just replaced my 2007 F 150 King Ranch because I was hit from behind at 60 MPH. It was the safest most reliable vehicle I have ever owned in my 55 years. In 12 years I had to replace the tires, brakes, and oil, but nothing else and never a mechanical breakdown. With 3 daughters in college another King Ranch was just priced too high for my budget, so I settled on a slightly used F 150 XLT with the 5.0 Coyote engine. I have to admit that the speed and response time of this 5 Liter is impressive by any standard, and while the 3.5 dual turbo eco-boost may have better performance, it's tough to beat the reliability and longevity of the 5.0. Great video … Thanks for sharing.

  • @gregoryjames7976
    @gregoryjames7976 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Have a similar XLT, FX4, max tow package has 36 gallon tank, fantastic. Sport package has console shifter. No sun roof.... MPG combined 19.5. Thats with winter gas. Deals were way better on the XLT's than higher trim and they gave me high B/B on trade in. The 10 speed usually is great. But, it can get confused if you are sloppy, step on it, let off, then step on it again. Can be a little clunky, if you try. Really the drive train is very good. The power on the 3.5 is fantastic. Strong down low and just keeps pulling with the 10 speed. No problem, at all, getting up to speed on, on ramps. Some thing that Ford does, is make all the engine options available in all trim levels. Similar GM, top engine would be 5.3. As far a s reliability, "All" those semi trucks have turbos. Change your oil when your suppose to and you will be fine. Pretty impressive how much trucks have improved from my 2007 Tundra.

The tuner eliminated that typical Auto trans hesitation when you punch the throttle. Gas pedal Has instant response now and excellent engine braking in tow mode.

    Back in 2013 I bought a 5.0L STX. I just wanted a v8 1/2 ton and this fit the bill. I didn’t want anything to do with the Eco Boost and the turbos, etc. or all the el tro-fail add ins they charge a fortune for. In nine years and 70k it’s maybe the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. One service action on the trans is the only warranty issue. No oil consumption, no leaks, no problems. Love this truck. BTW, I’m a Ford retiree so I get employee pricing. No dealer jive for me on pricing. I feel bad for our owners sometimes.

    I own a 2015 F-150 XLT with the Coyote V-8 , but mine only cost $34,000 when I purchased from Sarasota Ford in August 2015. Does NOT have heated seats! It is very similar to the truck in this video except mine is the SuperCab version. I bought the truck to pull our 32 foot travel trailer (8,750 GVW) and it has been a champ. No problem pulling up these western grades. The FX-4 package came in handy when I unknowingly chose the more technical route to Teller City, Colorado. After the original Goodyear Wranglers wore out, I chose the Yokohama Geolander AT tires which also have an aggressive pattern and the mountain/snow rating. I have 62,000 miles and have only had one issue, a coolant temperature sensor failed and shutdown the truck. I only burn ethanol-free gas and I am getting about 18.9 average mpg. I'm very happy with my truck.

    Before buying the 5.0, be sure to look into the cylinder bore distortion as well as the 2018-2019 timing chain guide chirp and engine oil consumption issues. My 2012 CPO 5.0 has had the engine replaced, the new engine showed up with a bad head, and now the drive side valve cover is pissing oil. Luckily it is still under warranty, but once warranty expires in a few months, I will probably be dumping it. Ford just doesn't carry the same quality they used to.

    I've got the 2018 with the 5.0L and love it...came from a '16 F250 6.7 Dsl. It was too much truck for what I was doing, driving kids to school etc...ended up trading for my '18...it doesn't have the torque that the Super Duty had obviously but with an S&B CAIntake, it'll jump past someone to pass them on the highway...the whining sound at low speeds doesn't bug me, but yes, the rough shift is a thing at 3rd to 5th. If I was buying it again, I'd go with the Coyote again...drove the 2.7 and 3.5 and couldn't get over the sound of a whirring V6...I had a V6 F150 back in 94...V8 has a nice growl to it...congrats on a sweet truck...I paid 46K for mine as well, windowed at 52,600$...

    • @Kevin-lm9ex
      @Kevin-lm9ex 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      What the tundra and my wife’s sienna give me is a feeling of reliability that the others just don’t have. They are old outdated and simple in comparison. But there’s genius in their ways. They only developed one transmission two motor sand one rear end . Ford has too many to spend time getting one right. I own a 2018 F150 lariat now 6000 miles making all sorts of noises sounds like the timing chain is rattling around in there been in the shop for weeks. The 10 speed is clunky at best. Hard down shifts to 5 th and 3rd. And I know that thing is gonna be a problem. You can’t fit ten gears in a truck which used to have 6 and keep the same durability there’s a reason none of the Hd trucks have more than 6 and even at 6 the ram 68rfe is a pos. Can only imagine their innovation of puking their half ton transmission into their 3/4 ton gasser is going to break even more hearts. Toyota s were simple. That was it’s beauty I had 170k miles on mine when I traded it for a 2017 Cummins got 17 for a trade. Cummins is awesome the rest of the ram truck sucked balls wobbled from the day I bought it lived in the shop nothing but headaches. Traded my 65000 dollar ram in a tear later got a whopping 45k for trade in and felt bad even taking that the tranny was smoked and it wobbled and grinded. Was between a tundra trd pro and a for ecoboost. I likes the ecoboost for towing and the nice sunroof. Wife said to get the Toyota. I didn’t listen. I wanted a fast truck. Truck has lived in the shop ever since.

      @@ziggy149 No I'm talking about chevy 5.3. But was in similar situation to o.p., had a 04 Silverado with 170k on it and didn't even want to get rid of it it was so damn good to me. But had to buy new truck for business and was tempted by twin turbo EcoBoost power, then I thought who cares how fast a truck is, I'm staying with what I trust.

    I traded out of my 2018 Tacoma TRD OffRoad for a 2016 F150 XLT 5.0L. What is crazy is that my 2016 F150 has Apple Car Play which my Toyota didn't lol...but that is not what sold me on the switch. The performance of the 5.0L is unmatched. My truck has taken me trough terrains alongside the Jeeps and Toyotas. Not only does it have impressive off-roading capabilities it is an amazing daily driver and long distance cruiser. Very quiet and the seats are comfy. I would buy another one in a heartbeat once mine is on its last legs.

    After owning GM my whole life other than a couple exceptions, I have a F150 with a 5.0 and I've been very pleased especially with the interior, it's been a good change...
