I'm in my twenties but it's funny to see people my age developing their basic human skills I've already grasped. As you get older you learn to manage more and care for more and with more theres more time management necessary which includes earlier hours. Growing and learning. I'm not being hateful, it's just stages everyone goes through at different times. As you get older you stop being so self focused because you realize the outside is also an important focus. All in all... leaf blow before PM haha.
Also btw I'm a natural born male... FACIAL HAIR SUCKS for those who dont want it. I'm actually grossed out by any hair other than my head, eyebrow, and eye lash hair. Do you get b**t hair? If so you know the pain, if not you're lucky.
The genes responsible for making you bald are on the X part, since (if u r a boy) your father gave you the Y, you don’t need to worry about him being bald, see your mother’s family instead If you are a girl you would need to have both X with the bald genes, which is pretty hard

God, hair loss is the absolute WORST lol. On top of poor genetics (every one of my male grandparents and uncles are balding/are bald), I'm taking T, so that'll help lol. Hopefully I'll turn out like my dad, who still has a full head of hair at age 60. I am lucky though that, even on T, I haven't gotten any acne at all. Praise good skin genetics lol

Whether or not you'll be bald depends on the males on your mother's side. If your grandpa on your mom's side is currently bald or started balding at a young age, it is likely you will be bald
there will be pretty subtle changes, it wont be like you instantly have beard hair in two weeks. people who have known you for a long time, or someone who hasnt seen you for a long time will be able to visibly notice those things. and those who judge you do not deserve you. you got this, go be confident :)
Hey, I had the same worries before I started testosterone. It really is pretty slow and the changes aren't near as dramatic. Your voice might start breaking and dropping pretty soon (around 3 months) but other than that every other change is very gradual. Once I started testosterone and transitioning it was definitely strange for my family to get used to but after several months it just felt normal and like I was any other teenage boy going through puberty. I'm very thankful to have such a supportive family but really if testosterone is something you want and you'd be happy or satisfied to have all the changes that come with it then you shouldn't worry dude :)

You are very lucky. I have horrible acne already and I'm not even on T. Also, if you keep a good skin care routine with the right products, it should reduce your risk of acne and help clear up any that you have. I can give you some recommendations for stuff that has worked for a lot of people I know if you want.
Blue Boy a 2% salicylic acid cleanser, a basic cleanser (for non-SA cleanser days), a moisturizer with hydrating ingredients and a sunscreen that is at least spf 30 is all you need. they should be fragrance-free. 🖤

There are no proven dangerous side affects, the bad side affects pretty much only happen if males in your family are already genetically prone to them (so testosterone will only increase risk of stroke, etc if things like that run in your family and it still hasnt really been proven)
From my knowledge there aren't any real risks on taking testosterone. However it's recommended to have a hysterectomy sometime in the future because some doctors are weary that testosterone can cause or promote cervical cancer. I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but it's best to be safe than sorry. You should get check ups anyways, as dysphoric as it may be going into a clinic and getting "inspected" you can always find a trans friendly clinic and a doctor that will respect your boundaries and pronouns :). Testosterone will increase your risk of heart attack and stroke BUT only to the same level of risk that all cis males have. So no, really there aren't any real health risks of taking testosterone. There are some great medically backed up articles on there about it, I'm sure you could find a couple and share them with your parents to try and ease their paranoia about it. Good luck!

about the balding thing; look at the men on your mothers side of the family, since the genes that determine whether you bald or not are only passed down from your mother. not just her dad, but as many generations back as you can figure out since it can skip generations.

Have you heard about the subdermal testosterone implants? Any thoughts on those? My endocrinologist doesn't think they are very good. He also doesn't recommend patches. Even with insurance, androgel was $600/month so injections are currently my only option. I go in every 2 weeks to my doctor's office and they inject me (I can't do it myself).

5:01 I have really thick curly hair and my brother’s hair is curly and super thick but my dad’s hair is kinda thick on the sides but really thin at the top. For me personally yes hair loss or hair thinning is frustrating but I would feel confident enough that I would much rather have hair loss than to have the incorrect body and shit like that.
I think at a point being on T I started getting symptoms that I think correspond to menopausal symptoms, I’m kinda ok because I got good irreversible effects from T, but hopefully I’ll get it checked out with a specialist and see what future options I have. Having to go off it after going through so much to get it in the first place (go off it the second time actually, having gone off previously for egg freezing) was (and still feels at present) an insane heartbreaking horrible experience, but somehow through the pain I see myself revealing a version of myself stronger than I knew existed. Also getting top surgery has been a huge uplift. 💪🏼

Well, I'm a trans boy and I'm going to start using testosterone in a few weeks, but I'm a little concerned about the baldness part. In my mother's family, my uncle and grandfather are bald, but it took them a long time to start losing hair (my grandfather is over 60 and my uncle is around 40 or more), well my father. .he still has hair but the strands are thin, I am worried .. I have to say this I was born male and at age twenty-five I did go through major hair receding and now my hair on top stops add an inch of growth. But the sides grow out faster.
If your hairline recedes any more, I'd consider getting on Finasteride, it shouldn't interfere with your T shots as it blocks DHT which is a byproduct of testosterone. The more T you have, the more DHT is produced, which recedes your hair. Fin stops this conversion to DHT. Unfortunately, DHT is also responsible for new beard growth, so if you do get on Fin you won't grow much more facial or body hair. It will also stop growth "down below" if that is an issue. Overall it is a decision - which is more important.
One of my old friends just transitioned and I keep calling him her out of habit and I feel so bad about it he's really good about it tho and I'm so for the lgbtq+ community I'm apart of it as well but I suck at remembering things I'll get it down some day
My Gender psychiatrist has done a referral to the Hormone clinic, December of this year I will go, it's been a little over a year since I came out as FtM, I have told my parents my preferred name I just did yesterday, and I am proud of myself for finally telling them.
Okay about the not growing a beard thing, I dated a cis guy who could only grow basically what you have, and his cheeks would be pretty patchy. Every male in his immediate family could grow a full beard. It got to him so much he started using Rogaine. Which worked but it was the most frustrating bc we couldn't kiss for like. An hour after he put it on and I swear I have more hair bc of him. Idk I thought it was a weird parallel experience to yours lmao
I don't think your hairline is that bad, it's pretty age appropriate and not necessarily guaranteed to go much further. I'm cis and can't grow a beard to save my life and I also have some hips so please don't make me dysphoric too. ;)

I'm really lucky. In Australia, we have shots that we get every three months. My endocrinologist wanted me to start on the three weekly one, but now, seven months on T, I am moving over to the three monthly ones. :)

Hair loss in males is usually caused by having alot of testosterone, so basically you're too manly for your hair

There are no proven dangerous side affects, the bad side affects pretty much only happen if males in your family are already genetically prone to them (so testosterone will only increase risk of stroke, etc if things like that run in your family and it still hasnt really been proven)
From my knowledge there aren't any real risks on taking testosterone. However it's recommended to have a hysterectomy sometime in the future because some doctors are weary that testosterone can cause or promote cervical cancer. I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but it's best to be safe than sorry. You should get check ups anyways, as dysphoric as it may be going into a clinic and getting "inspected" you can always find a trans friendly clinic and a doctor that will respect your boundaries and pronouns :). Testosterone will increase your risk of heart attack and stroke BUT only to the same level of risk that all cis males have. So no, really there aren't any real health risks of taking testosterone. There are some great medically backed up articles on there about it, I'm sure you could find a couple and share them with your parents to try and ease their paranoia about it. Good luck!

Have you heard about the subdermal testosterone implants? Any thoughts on those? My endocrinologist doesn't think they are very good. He also doesn't recommend patches. Even with insurance, androgel was $600/month so injections are currently my only option. I go in every 2 weeks to my doctor's office and they inject me (I can't do it myself).
Have you tried the generic version of androgel? I'm on the generic version and for me it's $10 a month with insurance so it may be worth looking into!
My doctor said the implant is the one insurance is the most reluctant to cover. I haven’t heard anything bad about them from anyone though

5:01 I have really thick curly hair and my brother’s hair is curly and super thick but my dad’s hair is kinda thick on the sides but really thin at the top. For me personally yes hair loss or hair thinning is frustrating but I would feel confident enough that I would much rather have hair loss than to have the incorrect body and shit like that.
I think at a point being on T I started getting symptoms that I think correspond to menopausal symptoms, I’m kinda ok because I got good irreversible effects from T, but hopefully I’ll get it checked out with a specialist and see what future options I have. Having to go off it after going through so much to get it in the first place (go off it the second time actually, having gone off previously for egg freezing) was (and still feels at present) an insane heartbreaking horrible experience, but somehow through the pain I see myself revealing a version of myself stronger than I knew existed. Also getting top surgery has been a huge uplift. 💪🏼

Well, I'm a trans boy and I'm going to start using testosterone in a few weeks, but I'm a little concerned about the baldness part. In my mother's family, my uncle and grandfather are bald, but it took them a long time to start losing hair (my grandfather is over 60 and my uncle is around 40 or more), well my father. .he still has hair but the strands are thin, I am worried .. (he is 38 years old)

Your hairline is equal (or close) on each side, I’m pretty sure this is normal male hairline readjustment and not a receding hairline.

I have to say this I was born male and at age twenty-five I did go through major hair receding and now my hair on top stops add an inch of growth. But the sides grow out faster.

If your hairline recedes any more, I'd consider getting on Finasteride, it shouldn't interfere with your T shots as it blocks DHT which is a byproduct of testosterone. The more T you have, the more DHT is produced, which recedes your hair. Fin stops this conversion to DHT.
Unfortunately, DHT is also responsible for new beard growth, so if you do get on Fin you won't grow much more facial or body hair. It will also stop growth "down below" if that is an issue. Overall it is a decision - which is more important.
I'm having top surgery in 2 days, please wish me luck :)

One of my old friends just transitioned and I keep calling him her out of habit and I feel so bad about it he's really good about it tho and I'm so for the lgbtq+ community I'm apart of it as well but I suck at remembering things I'll get it down some day
How long did it taks you to start t once you began talking to your doctor about it.
My Gender psychiatrist has done a referral to the Hormone clinic, December of this year I will go, it's been a little over a year since I came out as FtM, I have told my parents my preferred name I just did yesterday, and I am proud of myself for finally telling them.
High T levels can cause hair loss too so ur T levels might be above average UwU
Okay about the not growing a beard thing, I dated a cis guy who could only grow basically what you have, and his cheeks would be pretty patchy. Every male in his immediate family could grow a full beard. It got to him so much he started using Rogaine. Which worked but it was the most frustrating bc we couldn't kiss for like. An hour after he put it on and I swear I have more hair bc of him. Idk I thought it was a weird parallel experience to yours lmao
I don't think your hairline is that bad, it's pretty age appropriate and not necessarily guaranteed to go much further.
I'm cis and can't grow a beard to save my life and I also have some hips so please don't make me dysphoric too. ;)

It won’t make you dysphoric. Dysphoria is caused by the brain being the wrong gender for the body, and it occurs at birth. It won’t suddenly “appear” because you have some more feminine features.

I'm really lucky. In Australia, we have shots that we get every three months. My endocrinologist wanted me to start on the three weekly one, but now, seven months on T, I am moving over to the three monthly ones. :)
