My 06 Hawkeye Bellatrix is by far my favorite car I have ever owned, then the day came last year when she lost compression and started to misfire, damn OE trash, Subaru should never use such a fragile motor with a turbo. Putting a IAG stage 2 tuff in her once I can afford it. Replacing everything that’s major because for some reason Subaru really likes to be cheap with OE components they runs in their wrxs. In reality I’m the cause, guess you can’t run a STi turbo, innercooler and injectors without killing a ej257.

They’re a great choice, however remember that most of what was said in this video is dead on the money, and if you do pull the trigger on that Hawkeye, then the best place (In my opinion) to find info on near any questions you may have about your New Hawkeye is NASIOC, there’s a pinned thread in the general forums under “FAQ” called “Unabomber’s Manifesto” and in there you’ll be able to find near a decade and a half of knowledge, tips, and tricks from the guys who originally bought these WRXs and STIs off the lot, to even guys who’ve just been working on their beloved Subaru for years

Personally I'd never go equal length headers because that Subi rumble is too good. But there is a reason people do it, it improves performance somewhat and you have more equal cylinder temps lowering your chances of blowing cylinder four prematurely.
Took me 3 years, 5 states and many trips with an empty trailer to get a Hawkeye STI again. Nothing like the experience of owning and driving an 06/07 STI.... words of wisdom. Just take your time... don’t pay $22k for one with low compression, modded to hell and 200,000 miles.
As much as we enjoy the sound of UEL Headers, EL headers are actually recommended for reliability. The unequal pressure from the exhaust puts more stress on the compressor wheel of the turbo (mainly applicable for stock turbo instances) - subaru technician
