Everyone saying the blob eye is 3rd gen... It isn't The second gen started with the bug eye, that had a facelift to the blob eye and then got the final facelift to the Hawkeye... 2nd gen lasted from 2000 to 2007
Nothing beats the 1st gen. They just look soo damn clean. Seeing Bunta drive in it gives it some sentimental value too. The 4th gen is super clean too though
Agreed, the 11' WRX is the best of the 3rd gen. It was built prior to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake/tsunami that disrupted manufacturing and was subsequently not involved in the 12'-14' WRX/STI class action lawsuits over defective connecting rods leading to many premature 3rd gen engine failures.
I feel very lucky to have bought a completely original, unmodified, low mileage 2006 WRX STI in WR blue with gold wheels. The only additions it had were genuine STI handling parts, not the usual cheap aftermarket stuff. It's now worth ~50% more than what I paid for it 8 years ago :)
2008-2014 generation which I own(2013), had a facelift in 2011 and powerbump to 265bhp in Australia and was also standard widebodied not sure about the States, due to it's slow rep and 'ugly' looks, which totally fixed both issues in my opinion. This gen has its own cult following in Australia even more so than the Hawkeye..
Yeah the power upgrade was in 2009. 2007-2008 narrow bodies have 225hp and 2009-2010 narrow bodies have 265hp. They carried the same engine over to the wide body but obviously changed the body a bit. But I think the power upgrade in narrow bodies was only in Ausrtalia and maybe euro countries.
I also have a 2013 STI sedan but in Bahrain, it's easily my favourite looking Subaru and a lot of people agree in our part of the world. I would never change how it looks.
Totally agree.. I had a GD WRX and loved it, but it was just a bit too small for me and my family. I picked up a 2012 STI sedan and it's beautiful, seats everyone comfortably and still cooks.. I love it and absolutely made the correct decision. Not to mention that dccd..
Bought a stock 2011 WRX in dark metallic grey with only 76kms for 15k (cad) last week. This car is amazing the grip and handling feels great 1st and 2nd gear is quick and who needs a radio when you have that turbo whine and that deep exhaust hum! Sooo fun to drive. Im really happy with my purchase. Btw can't wait for some snow.
Had two gen 2 one 04 sti and a 07 limited and loved the 07. Upgraded to a gen 3 2012 limited....loved the car but to much plastic that rattled poorly made. Upgraded again to a gen 4 18 sti with performance package and it's an amazing car.
2011 WRX 3rd Gen is my fav. I owned the 1st gen too. 3rd Gen feels more refined but pays homage to the 1st and 2nd. I also like the flared out body. It's also got the most rounded look.
Luv my 2011 WRX 5 door... 119K miles & still rocks... Awesome on the Tail of the Dragon which is 50 minutes from the garage... Like u said, it’s made for roads like that...
I would buy the 1st or 2nd gen with the ej20. Because 1. There's a tax in romania that gets higher with the size of your engine and 2. I like the bubbly headlights of the 2nd gen
I have a first gen non wrx. Only have upgraded suspension and bracing components. Most fun you can have on tight back roads, nothing like an underpowered car with overkill handling.
I've owned a 2000 gen1 and my current car is a 2006 Hawkeye STI prodrive running 400bhp. The Hawkeye is a much better car to drive than the gen1. The DCCD control is worth its weight in gold, especially for party tricks.
I bought the hawk eye a couple months ago. Awesome car, never had any issues. You feel very safe driving it here in Sweden with all the snow. The car almost never loose grip. Fun car to drive for sure. 👌
Just bought a second gen bugeye hatch about a month ago and boy I love it its not extremely fast but its zippy and is confidence inspiring already have catback, coldair, ecbs, and getting an accesport going stage 2 plus and can't wait for the difference
I own a 2015 WRX S4, factory 296 bhp, it's a CVT but quicker than any Subi I've driven, and I've owned most of them (from twin turbo legacy's, GT-B's, S Editions, 20k edition Impreza, Forester, etc...). It's my dream car and I've bought it just recently (ironically after being in the market for another twin turbo B4).
You can get 1st gen Impreza's in LHD from Europe. It's just named differently. In Europe it's called a GT Turbo (555) and it also comes with the Turbocharged EJ20.
ive owned my wrx gc8 my00 for the last 8 years as daily never ever had a issue very reliable, with mild mods and still even todays standards still a quick car which shocks most 2023 Technology.
I agree with Brad.......2nd gen STI. Don't forget about the head gasket issues though. My sedan choices........1. C63 2. ISF 3. CTS-V 4. Latest turbo M3. They're auto for street/traffic and will crush it in acceleration.
I'm so excited , I get to pick up one of my dream cars tomorrow , 2006 wrx limited . It's Sept 2021 , I paid $7k usd, some focal points , only 100k miles, ill be the 3rd owner . It comes with a little spice to tune of an upggraded turbo back exhaust and a Cobb access port . Outside of that , clean title , body has one slight ding from a tire blow out on the left rear door , not major . And slight rust on front passenger fender . I'm super stoked ! Thanks for the video bud , I actually learned a bit more than what I already knew . Thanks bud !
If I can add one more Random information, in France second gen of Sub was used by "Special highspeed police" - BRI. And it was really impressive seeing them behind you 😅
I’m currently looking at a 3rd gen subi. That’s the first time I’ve ever drove one and man, I wish I bought one as my first car. The smoothness, the handling and that raw exhaust sound, I think my next car is definitely a wrx. If I can afford an Sti, then by all means. But anyways, thanks for the info about it. I’m hooked for life.
Yes that’s true the 15+ wrx’s come with 6 speeds, but they’re still far from the STI 6 speed. The split case 6 speed (which is in the 15+ WRX) cant hold itself together very well, kind of like the 5 speeds :/

Just started the video: Me watching with my 2004 WRX “ I wonder how much I like this person” After video: this man has nothing but the finest taste! In all honesty, I kind of wanna put an STI engine in my 2004 . I don’t want the badge though to confuse people.
When I was a kid I used to play this psp WRC game every day. If Im not mistaken the cars you can choose were Subaru, Mitsubishi, Skoda, Ford, Toyota and Peugeut (I forgor how it spelt 💀). The subaru on the WRC was the 2004 and yes, its the only car I ever drove in the game. Till today it still hold special to my heart.
1: Wheres the Blobeye? 2: The 2008 WRX has 224 hp, but from 2009 to 2014 it had 265 hp and did 0-60 in 4.7 seconds according to Car and Driver 3: The 2008 to 2014 STI had 305 hp
I own a 2020 wrx, it’s how I learnt stick best car I’ve ever driven and easy to work on even though the engine is a learning curve for me. Just keep that oil changed for sure.
I like the first and second gen for sure.. if I had to pick im going first gen, because i probably wont drive it everyday so that raw driving experience is what i would want.
I got my 09 sti for 11k it needed small amount of work and overall cosmetics but its such a fun car for the price I got it for. Definitely gonna keep it forever.
Hello, I'm certain from Roadandtrack.com as a reference that in 2009 they upgraded from the old 230hp they year before to 265. Is this correct? I have a post that asks this question most recently. Thanaks!
Hey man. About me my favorite Subaru are: 1) GC8 and 22B from the first generation, 2) GDB 2004 the Blobeye from the second generation. Especially the Blobeye is my top favorite Subaru.
I love my bugeye it's not turbo it's just 2.5 rs model but the ride and the handling in the Colorado mountains is beast it's all stock except the exhaust and it rides amazing

2: The 2008 WRX has 224 hp, but from 2009 to 2014 it had 265 hp and did 0-60 in 4.7 seconds according to Car and Driver
3: The 2008 to 2014 STI had 305 hp
Aint a Subaru guy but I love the look for all years.
I own a 2020 wrx, it’s how I learnt stick best car I’ve ever driven and easy to work on even though the engine is a learning curve for me. Just keep that oil changed for sure.
I've always ❤ the 1st generation here in the U.K. My '98 Terzo Ltd edition is gorgeous in its original condition.
1st gen for sure. 22b is a dream car!
My personal fav is 2nd generation STi
I like the first and second gen for sure.. if I had to pick im going first gen, because i probably wont drive it everyday so that raw driving experience is what i would want.
22b, blobeye and hawkeye is my favourite
I got my 09 sti for 11k it needed small amount of work and overall cosmetics but its such a fun car for the price I got it for. Definitely gonna keep it forever.
2011-2014 WRX have almost 270hp btw. I have one I love it
Hello, I'm certain from Roadandtrack.com as a reference that in 2009 they upgraded from the old 230hp they year before to 265. Is this correct? I have a post that asks this question most recently. Thanaks!
I'm watching this while sitting in my WRX. I live these cars. Even if I was loaded I would still have the same car
Hey man. About me my favorite Subaru are: 1) GC8 and 22B from the first generation, 2) GDB 2004 the Blobeye from the second generation. Especially the Blobeye is my top favorite Subaru.
I have a legacy b4 with the sequential twin turbo ej208. Underrated car for sure
3rd Gen owner, after owning a 1st Gen RS. 2011 WRX sedan for the WIN.
Just got the 2020 STi. It's a beast.
15 years old I bought myself a full stock 02 wrx wrb under 100k miles for just over 5k
Damn man nice pick up
sweet high school gig
My favorite is the 3rd gen. I had the option for a 2nd gen but I went with the 2012 wrx sti.
I love my bugeye it's not turbo it's just 2.5 rs model but the ride and the handling in the Colorado mountains is beast it's all stock except the exhaust and it rides amazing
WRX STI is my dream JDM, I always loved dat one the most 😢🖤 and that rumble
