  • I found a cabin miles from anywhere or anything, deep in the heart of grizzly country, and stayed there all alone. It was amazing. I hiked up above the cabin and had some heart pounding encounters with the wildlife. So join me for a little adventure in this little slice of heaven on earth.

    I found the location in the cabin. Kudos for keeping it semi private. A little detective work and anyone can locate it. I also found it on a couple of other off-road applications. Once again, great video and thank you for giving me a peek at that area. I have driven past it four or five times but now I will put that, on my list of things to do and definitely make it a destination. It is near another area that I frequent. Thank you again.

    This reminds me of my grandpas cabin, he built it in the 60s in Northern British Columbia, at one point at had a running shower and a heat exchanger made from copper that would heat the water using the wood stove, kerosene lamps too light it and guns hung up all over the wall, he had a garden because the area was very fertile from a previous volcano eruption so the vegetables were massive. Remember walking out from there to go to a logging camp for groceries and seeing sign from grizzlies, made your hair stand up.

      @@RyanThayne unfortunately after he died there was a problem with the estate and someone that he thought he would trust, ended up taking everything, it was unfortunate because he had a gem of a property, they never cared about it and it fell into disarray, I don’t think the cabin is even standing anymore, been about 14 years now since he went.

    Now go live that way for 25 years. Yes, in the greater Yellowstone area so I am comparing apples to apples here.... There's no need for curtains where there is nothing but wildlife going to peek in. We also had no tv, radio, internet service for the first 10 years and only wood heat. After the first few weeks ( and NO CAMERA to be constantly talking to for companionship) I can tell you that your entire mind changes. The silence alone will drive some people bat shit crazy within a couple of days. The moose and bears become your "companionship" and not some terrifying adversary. Everything changes. Your body adjusts to the life or you truly do go quite mad. Good that you tried this life and shared with people. Perhaps they can make a much better judgement call before moving to the area and thinking that they will then CHANGE it to meet their own needs. Nature doesn't work that way. The weather alone up in this area will break that notion very very quickly. Winter lasts 9 months of the year and we have had snow hit us every single month of the year.

    You paid $65 to have it all to yourself but you are afraid of everything there! You could have walked back past the moose, it's not the rut. He would have gone back into the woods until you passed. And where did you get the idea that an axe murderer is coming after you?

    Great video… maybe try to not make outdoorsy people and “dirty hippies” out to be scumbags…that’s kinda the audience for this lol. Renting a cabin and eating an atkins bar doesn’t make you an outdoorsman.

    • @RyanThayne
      @RyanThayne  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure? I was told atkins bars DO make you a bonafide outdoorsman LOL. I get your point though, I didn't realize hippies were so sensitive about the word dirty. It wasn't used as a derogatory term btw, just an accurate description ;) Thanks for watching and commenting. I'll be more careful with my attempts at humor next time.

    Wow! That looks like such a beautiful place to stay. You did a superb job of videoing it. It would be great to be able to stay there for a week or so and see what comes in. Some trail cams would be nice to have. How far is the drive from Cooke/ Silvergate?

      @RyanThayne  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Cameron, I would love to go back next year and stay longer. I really wanted to do more hiking but didn't have enough time to really explore the area. It's a good 4 or 5 hours from Cooke/Silvergate I'd say.

      @cameronharvey1250 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gotcha- Definitely a place to go back to. Are you still around Silvergate? I heard there was a little snow up high, but that was about it. I haven't heard of any good animal sightings and haven't gotten anything on my cameras in weeks. @@RyanThayne

    I don’t understand why people are so afraid of being in remote settings. You are much, much safer there than in metro areas if you have basic skills and are not a complete idiot. I grew up in the middle of nowhere, and now live in a huge city. “Axe murderer” 🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

    Okay Joe-in the woods, intentions are in the right place, but in environments new and intimidating such as this, your fears will get the best of you, mostly for no reason. Be open and accepting to new experiences, which in most cases will become a really good adventure! “dirty hippies” as you seem to look down on, or any other people for that matter, are just people with a different perspective. That’s all. In my experiences around this planet, I have taken away many more good experiences with what I knew was not like me, than the what was familiar. Open up and take in the unfamiliar. You will grow for the better. Trust me.
