- I bought an old cabin in the back country and I am fixing it up, doing repairs and renovations with the inside and outside, how to make French onion soup and measuring everything in the cabin for future repair episodes

Was stationed in Newfoundland from March 1964 till September 1965. (AIR FORCE) A beautiful island. I trekked long and far. I once walked down a running creek that had boulders in it. Walked the boulders for a mile or so, fished a bit, and never got wet. AMAZING!

Their Northern Minnesota lakeside cabin (called "the tent" because 20 years ago it started out as a walled tent) is very similar to yours, and for over 12 years they've been chronicling the evolution of their cabin and the growth of Joe's children and grandchildren. I love the strange meal with carrots with sour cream with bacon, donuts with molasses, and what seems to be an excellent French onion soup with dried baguette/bagel chips. You just need some Bourbon.

My dad grew up in a small community by the salt water in NL 85 years ago. One family had an outhouse that hung over the water and was designed so that the tide would take the waste away. Sometimes my dad and his friends would sneak under the outhouse and watch the women while they were doing their business.

Hey Newfie friend. I just wanted to say that the woodstove looks like a fisher baby bear woodstove with a homemade door on it. i can tell by the shape and feet on it. They are a very sought after woodstove. You wont find any other stove as good as a fisher. They pump the heat. Thanks for the video cheers from Ontario

I remember this day like it was yesterday, in the bay with my dad as a kid. Reeled in a monster fish that looked like it had a human head and eel body. Dad yells don’t try to grab it, “it will bite your hand off”.
I’ll never forget those impressive fish. It bit onto the net handle and we had to beat it off the side of the boat. Bent the metal handle

Having the wood stove in the outhouse makes me think he would sometimes bring his wife to the cabin, and he needed a place to escape from her without freezing to death!
Just a thought, when you have to clean the flue of one stove, you can use the other one. Or worse, having to replace a section of stove pipe, or repair the roof opening. Weather may not permit you to do that for a while, so having the second stove loaded and ready to go is important. Particularly if things happen during winter weather. Congrats! Look forward to seeing more as you go!

Nice Tour of your cabin.. I would suggest extending your chimney a couple of feet and you will get a better exhaust draw and it will keep snow from accumulating around the exhaust pipe. Great Video!!!

I’d keep both. Stoves . (The second stove is a lovely sit round the fire spot) Just re configure the interior. And yes take the side door out , sofa to big a build an L or u shaped seating round your table , A couple of free standing comfortable fireside chairs ,you will be lost without a counter you have what’s important two bedrooms is fantastic! Love your soup recipe 😊. Out door shower is great particularly when you have a few people , needing privacy god luck with your upgrade . 😊
