    I am a loner and introvert and I totally get never feeling alone or lonesome! I'm 60 and have lived alone and when i retired, have happily kept to myself, except when I help people stay in their homes as opposed to being in a nursing home. I'm not anti-social. I'm just not social.😊

    I lived off the grid on my 20 acres with a small creek down the middle in the high mountains of BC Canada. for 20 years. with my wife and ended up with 4 children..The closest neighbour was about 5 miles away, down the valley..It was a wonderful way to live and raise a family..The kids are all in their late 20s and 30s now and Love the outdoors ..I put all their names on the deed and now I live Down near Vancouver BC..I'm 70 years old now and very content with the life I lived...God bless this spirited woman for having the will to live her life the way she loves... I once asked a therapist if it was strange that I'm always alone but never lonely. He said he thinks it's definite personality type and the people who go against their nature to force themselves into social lives are those who suffer severe depression. Some of us, for whatever reason, are meant to be alone. Congratulations to this woman for having found her place.

    • @AmandaOffGrid
      @AmandaOffGrid 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      Beautifully said. I've never been one to go against my nature. It's disheartening to witness so many people steer away from their authentic selves, chasing after societal expectations and norms. They often find themselves navigating through lives that feel hollow and unfulfilled. It would be so liberating if society embraced our human differences with open arms, rather than scrutinizing and condemning them. We'd all be much happier for it.

    I had first discovered this gal when she was in my neck of the woods coming in on her zodiac for supplies. I was amazed that she was living on a small sail boat with such a large dog ! We are all so controlled by a fake concept called money and a world that is literally spinning out of control it's not going to affect this woman much. You simply can't put a price on what she has seen and experienced. Take good care everyone.

      Some people just enjoy solitude. My wife died a year ago. My life of teaching in one-teacher schools and in the sticks were hard on her but not me. I grew up on an island. Lately friends thing I should be looking for a companion, but I'm happy the way I am and I don't think many women would like to live my back-to-the land lifestyle. I live 5 driving hours from the nearest interstate and 2 driving hours to the nearest Costco. But having traveled many times up the coast and seen so many of the BC coastal islands and the waterfalls and the animals and the orcas, I wished I could have spent time on the BC Coast. But I lived on the American San Juans which are an extension of the Canadian San Juans. We high school kids couldn't wait to get off the "rock", but now I am so glad I had that life and understand so well Amanda's life. Thanks, Amanda.

    Hi, we lived off grid in the NZ bush. We had to start from scratch, build everything, home cabin, composting loos, solar and microhydro, regenerative gardens and fruit trees. After 20 years we were too old and tired. Do this while you are young with good eyesight and no health issues. Stuck in town now, doctor, super markets, power with just a switch, still preferred being in the bush.

      Having lived off grid for many years, I would tend to disagree. The data would show that a lack of regular health care, including dentistry will shorten ones life expectancy. Oftentimes a minor health issue will be 'toughed out' rather than addressed, which can lead to an exacerbated decline in overall health. This lifestyle appears (to the uninitiated) to be filled with endless days of serenity and solitude...whereas in reality, it's labour intensive, lonely, and extremely dangerous...and just staying warm is a full time occupatipn.

    I just looked thru a few comments. Some of the first ones I will respond to. Like one person said you’re not off grid if you use a cell phone, another said you’re not off grid if you’re on TH-cam. I guess more people should do some research on what off grid is. You live in the middle of nowhere and you supply your own power like wind or solar. You have no public utilities like water, gas, sewer or electric. There are many people that have TH-cam channels that live off grid. Like when I camped in the Desert for 12 months in the middle of nowhere. Sure I had my cell phone I used wind and solar for power. I truly love that lifestyle. You are living my dream Amanda.

      @AmandaOffGrid 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yaaaaas! Just because you've got internet and cell service (which, by the way, I don't have), it doesn't disqualify you from living off-grid. Some purists might argue that true off-grid living means cutting ties with all things digital, but let's be real here: in today's world, staying connected is more of a necessity than a luxury. When you're out in the middle of nowhere and you need help, having a lifeline to the outside world can save your life.

      OffGrid means like if the Grid went down
      Which means cell phns are down too, yup
      If u wanna make a vid on phn charged with solar panel and then d/l it in town once a week on library internet, sure.
      I’ve lived very recently with no phn service at all. For 1 1/2yrs. With kids.
      It was most amazing time in our life. Ppl learned to leave vmails cuz it wouldn’t even register my missed calls. I went to town once a week lol
      You Just Need Each Other and Friends Who Want To Stop By
      Aloneness, I’m not so sure of. Humans are social creatures.

    Hi Amanda, sorry I missed this video. I am so sorry about Buttercups passing she had been a very good companion to you. A lot of people don't understand people like us. We love living remote, we love doing for ourselves and enjoy the peace and quiet. I have been doing it for 76 years and would never trade this lifestyle for anything or any money. It's really good to hear from you and hope you get back to making more videos. What's your new companions name? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Happy belated Solstice

But tomorrow I have to shovel snow 😅. Stay safe!

      I live on my own on a mountain by a lake surrounded by woods, have bears, foxes, coyotes, Bob cats, beavers, eagles, ducks, loons, etc. I love my life. I do all my work inside , out. I have to stack wood, have two large lots I now with a push mower for exercise. I clean my own wood stove, pipe out, shovel snow, etc. I love my life, never get lonely, depressed. I live my life doing what makes me happy, that is the secret, do what makes you happy no matter what any one thinks because its your life to live as you see fit. I think to many people live their lives to please others. I don't believe in controlling, there is no way I would allow another person to control me. I have to feel free, freedom is the only way to go with me. There are more people taking to this kind of living. I certainly admire Amanda, I can relate to her way of living. She has that beautiful boat, she is one remarkable woman that I am sure of.
