Beautifully said. I've never been one to go against my nature. It's disheartening to witness so many people steer away from their authentic selves, chasing after societal expectations and norms. Hi, we lived off grid in the NZ bush. We had to start from scratch, build everything, home cabin, composting loos, solar and microhydro, regenerative gardens and fruit trees. After 20 years we were too old and tired. Do this while you are young with good eyesight and no health issues. @@AllTheHappySquirrels It is a pretty great place, my son was caretaker there for two years prior to Amanda and I had the good fortune to visit a few times.
I just looked thru a few comments. Some of the first ones I will respond to. Like one person said you’re not off grid if you use a cell phone, another said you’re not off grid if you’re on TH-cam. I guess more people should do some research on what off grid is. You live in the middle of nowhere and you supply your own power like wind or solar. You have no public utilities like water, gas, sewer or electric. There are many people that have TH-cam channels that live off grid. Like when I camped in the Desert for 12 months in the middle of nowhere. Sure I had my cell phone I used wind and solar for power. I truly love that lifestyle. You are living my dream Amanda.
Yaaaaas! Just because you've got internet and cell service (which, by the way, I don't have), it doesn't disqualify you from living off-grid. Some purists might argue that true off-grid living means cutting ties with all things digital, but let's be real here: in today's world, staying connected is more of a necessity than a luxury. When you're out in the middle of nowhere and you need help, having a lifeline to the outside world can save your life.
OffGrid means like if the Grid went down Which means cell phns are down too, yup If u wanna make a vid on phn charged with solar panel and then d/l it in town once a week on library internet, sure. I’ve lived very recently with no phn service at all. For 1 1/2yrs. With kids. It was most amazing time in our life. Ppl learned to leave vmails cuz it wouldn’t even register my missed calls. I went to town once a week lol You Just Need Each Other and Friends Who Want To Stop By Aloneness, I’m not so sure of. Humans are social creatures.
Hi Amanda, sorry I missed this video. I am so sorry about Buttercups passing she had been a very good companion to you. A lot of people don't understand people like us. We love living remote, we love doing for ourselves and enjoy the peace and quiet. I have been doing it for 76 years and would never trade this lifestyle for anything or any money. It's really good to hear from you and hope you get back to making more videos. What's your new companions name? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Happy belated Solstice
as isolated as she is, many people would argue that they live in new york or at one time me in dc, surrounded by millions of people and you still feel very very lonely. anyway, lovely vid
I found living in DC very lonely and I’ve been alone most of my life. You can feel the disconnect from everyone. A constant reminder of how isolated you are
I admire you and your lifestyle. I also live on a island in Newfoundland, on the east coast. But not as isolated as you. The first winter I found it lonely, but now it's good to be away from people. I still visit my family and enjoy life!Hopefully I am going to sail around my province, in the summer! But tomorrow I have to shovel snow 😅. Stay safe!
Very cool! I loved when she said, “living off grid teaches you to be aware of what you are consuming” - so true. Liveaboard sailor & RVer here. The packaging after a grocery run is insane…. She’s amazing.
I could very easily see me living this lifestyle. I admire her for her spirit and getting it done attitude. I especially liked the method of log retrieval.
One of the nicest videos of its kind that I've watched. Amanda is lovely, no nonsense. Just this is a normal way to live, matter of fact. Not trying to find numerous reasons to explain why she lives the way she wants to.
The older I get, the less I need others. Solitude is my favorite place. I used to run run run, in the city, now I have just about all I need in a small town. Crazy.
Nice! One of the best times in my life was when I lived for a year at the top of a mountain/volcano in Costa Rica with my dog… I maintained a 3 acre property and house that was for sale… thankfully it took a year to sell it! Fantastic experience!
Truly incredible! What an amazing opportunity. How awesome are you to be doing all that you do and on your own? Wow! Good on you! Truly, sorry about losing your pup. Maybe one day you will get another one. ❤❤❤❤

I’d love to do her job. I’ve had enough of noise pollution and the busy city life. Since Covid I’ve seen a major change in the way people behave. Anxiety levels are through the roof. I just want the simple peaceful lifestyle
I've noticed that too. Seems like everyone is on edge, maybe covid just made people realise how depressing and awful the system is so now a lot of us are longing for a "simple" life.

She is a brave and unique person. I love this...not many people can say, "I can't even tell you the number of times I've walked outside, gone around the side of my cabin, and looked up and there's a bear right there...so that's a bit of a challenge." I love nature and the outdoors but bears and cougars by myself- oh my! I love her spirit!
I live on my own on a mountain by a lake surrounded by woods, have bears, foxes, coyotes, Bob cats, beavers, eagles, ducks, loons, etc. I love my life. I do all my work inside , out. I have to stack wood, have two large lots I now with a push mower for exercise. I clean my own wood stove, pipe out, shovel snow, etc. I love my life, never get lonely, depressed. I live my life doing what makes me happy, that is the secret, do what makes you happy no matter what any one thinks because its your life to live as you see fit. I think to many people live their lives to please others. I don't believe in controlling, there is no way I would allow another person to control me. I have to feel free, freedom is the only way to go with me. There are more people taking to this kind of living. I certainly admire Amanda, I can relate to her way of living. She has that beautiful boat, she is one remarkable woman that I am sure of.
Beautiful, my kind of life, love the quiet! I lived on Hornby Island for awhile, perhaps not so far away. I am wondering what Amanda's response is or would be to people who might happen by on a boat and want to camp on the island?

Wow Amanda, I am impressed, remarkable woman, you have accomplished having a dream life. I can understand why you have complete happiness don't get lonely, depressed. You have chosen a life that makes you happy that is the secret to happiness. I can relate, I live alone on a mountain by a lake have a lot of animals , birds, that I enjoy. I love nature, beauty, quietness. I love the fact that when I turn my lights of at night it is quiet complete darkness, no sounds except for occasionally you will hear an owl. @@d.e.7467 I used to have 20 dogs ( 4 inside, the rest outside) when I had a small ranchito on the border in California - BEST security system the world, also had a mean goose that would chance them around the ranch ha!!!

Fantastic to see Amanda get some exposure. If you go back to the beginning of her channel, her sailboat videos are wonderful.
Thanks for checking out the video! And yes for sure, her channel is great, hope people go check it out :)
Amazing.
You're a tough woman living on your own.
Some people would never handle the isolation.
But you know what, that is the best way to meditate. Living alone reminds us to focus on ourselves more.
Because different people bring with them negetive and positive calmer that can be a hindrance at times.
That's what I think?
Watching from Papua New Guinea South Pacific. 🇵🇬 😊
The owners of that island are lucky to have found someone for the job. Seems very busy.
It's true, they are lucky, Amanda seems like a hard worker that they can really count on! Thanks for watching :)
They certainly don't do any work themselves! Nobles or heirs... Expropriate immediately!
@@zebaotelohim3768 The owners actually own a business on Vancouver Island and work very hard.
If Amanda ever retires, I would love to take her place!
@@AllTheHappySquirrels It is a pretty great place, my son was caretaker there for two years prior to Amanda and I had the good fortune to visit a few times.
Amanda made the right call. Me and my family did the same thing back in 2008.
What a fantastic life in paradise! Good for you Amanda enjoy this lifetime opportunity! Sorry for the passing of your dog.
Thank God for being a Nomad Amanda!
I just joined your YT page.
Thank you 🧡
I just looked thru a few comments.
OffGrid means like if the Grid went down
Which means cell phns are down too, yup
If u wanna make a vid on phn charged with solar panel and then d/l it in town once a week on library internet, sure.
I’ve lived very recently with no phn service at all. For 1 1/2yrs. With kids.
It was most amazing time in our life. Ppl learned to leave vmails cuz it wouldn’t even register my missed calls. I went to town once a week lol
You Just Need Each Other and Friends Who Want To Stop By
Aloneness, I’m not so sure of. Humans are social creatures.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah Offgrid means of the nation power grid.
So perfect (imho) … she’s enjoying her life … all the while … helping others … it’s a win-win ❤ all the best to her !
You’re a great example to others. Very resilient and resources. At one with nature
as isolated as she is, many people would argue that they live in new york or at one time me in dc, surrounded by millions of people and you still feel very very lonely. anyway, lovely vid
I found living in DC very lonely and I’ve been alone most of my life. You can feel the disconnect from everyone. A constant reminder of how isolated you are
Girl, you are living my dream. I wish I'd known it was possible while I was young enough to do it. Cheers
She is living my dream life. It requires lot of courage and consistency which I lack.
Wish her safe and best life always
I admire you and your lifestyle. I also live on a island in Newfoundland, on the east coast. But not as isolated as you. The first winter I found it lonely, but now it's good to be away from people. I still visit my family and enjoy life!Hopefully I am going to sail around my province, in the summer! But tomorrow I have to shovel snow 😅. Stay safe!
Living in solitude ,a choice of living by some,is calm, peace, freedom……Never Lonely 🥰
Hi Amanda, what a cool job you have. Greetings from Newfoundland, Canada. Thanks for sharing and cheers from da ROCK!
Very cool! I loved when she said, “living off grid teaches you to be aware of what you are consuming” - so true. Liveaboard sailor & RVer here. The packaging after a grocery run is insane…. She’s amazing.
So inspiring this young lady, I really admire her lifestyle. Sorry to here about Buttercup Amanda :(
Loneliness is not a feeling that a person has to experience, it’s an agreed upon thing by some people, that’s all ☺️ Thank you for your lovely video!
I totally get the not getting lonely. I just love being alone (with my dog). So peaceful. You are brave though.
An amazing beautiful young lady!!!! Hardworking while being rewarded with an incredible lifestyle!!!!
Looking forward to following her journey!!!!
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy following Amanda's journey :)
I love her! She's delightful and adorable!
Crazy.
Ppl r just crazy now
Why is that “crazy”?
Why "crazy"? Sounds completely normal.
Nice! One of the best times in my life was when I lived for a year at the top of a mountain/volcano in Costa Rica with my dog… I maintained a 3 acre property and house that was for sale… thankfully it took a year to sell it! Fantastic experience!
I love her sense for freedom. Beautiful!
What a lovely video, you’re right with the way that you live!
What a super cool strong lady. She very much seems at peace. Happy for het.
Truly incredible! What an amazing opportunity. How awesome are you to be doing all that you do and on your own? Wow! Good on you!
Truly, sorry about losing your pup. Maybe one day you will get another one. ❤❤❤❤
This girl is so nice. I bet she's living her best life❤
Bravo! You are a tough lady, and I wish all the best for you and your future. I'm so sorry your dogs life ended. I believe we only change form, and your dog is now light energy, but still very much around you.
Much love and light,
Miriah
I love that, thank you. I love thinking of Buttercup as 'light energy' around me ❤❤
I’d love to do her job.
That's amazing. She's clearly enjoying it. I'm an introvert and would love to live like this
What an amazing woman!
beautifull spirit, I fully understand. I live also a quiet simple life in the south of France miles away from the city and it makes me so happy. Thirst thing to do is trowing away your TV.
Thanks for sharing this video
Good for you, Amanda. I lived in Alaska for 5 years and have always admired and respected self reliance since I've seen many examples of it there.
We don´t have such beautiful lakes in my country. And it would be too dangerous. But I´d love to live in such wonderful place. Greetings from South America
What a useful human life. Love it. To be alone with a purpose in a beautiful natural place. Wow
Even the danger is invigorating bc it makes you more aware of every moment..cannot rush, must notice it all..
I hope you find another dog or one finds you. Unconditionally sharing life and love with a dog will keep your heart strong. x
We, too, have a cabin in north BC, and we're the only ones there full year around, i actually split my time in the city, but my husband is retired, and he's here full time. He loves❤
That sounds amazing, you live in a beautiful part of the world! Thanks for checking out the video :)
Have missed seeing you Amanda, so sorry about Buttercup 😢
Hi Amanda, I am from eastern most part of India. I am so impressed with what you do. I am sure it's a lot of work. I long for a life like yours ... You are soooo skilled for this ! Good luck and God bless
What a beautiful, peaceful life. I enjoy my solitude too. Much more now than when I was younger. Living and working out in Nature really feeds the soul...
Wow she seems to enjoy this life style and is happy. A friend of mine told me once just because I live alone does not mean I'm lonely. Some people enjoy their own company. I'm happy for her. Thank you Matt and Danielle for sharing her story ❤❤❤
You don't get lonely because of all the nature around you and all the work you are doing. What an amazing job , What a dream job!
Wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. I fully agree that off grid living makes you look at what you use whether it’s water or other. Stay safe and keep up the great work.
Really makes you stop and think about your life choices, how there are many options outside the normal boundaries. This young lady is doing it her way. Much respect.
Awww we love Amanda!❤ And we're so sorry about Buttercup! 😢 Looking forward to Amanda's next video!
Us too! We also look forward to Amanda's next video! Thanks for watching :)
I can only dream of it while you are living it. I think you are blessed to have that kind of life. Simple and close to nature.
Inspiring woman. Great to see different life styles.
Wood for 3 buildings and while still having to burn some during the summer? And you have to harvest it from the water? And you have to do the groundskeeping? Wow that's a lot of work.
lot to learn and get inspired... lots of love
What a truly amazing woman you are ~ I can feel your peacefulness coming through this video, what a grand life you are living for yourself. Talk about strong - my goodness, it is quite impressive watching all the work you do lifting and splitting logs!! WOW! Sending you light, love, peace, joy and abundance always. I love you.
I've found it's people who can enjoy their own company without fretting about loneliness are the ones who know true peace. Throw in a lot of nature and you have bliss. Awesome.
This would be a dream scenario for me. Love the ocean and BC. I am at peace in my own company and would love this place. Stay safe out there lovely and know so many of us are living vicariously through you. 😂😊
WOW! What an amazing journey you are on. Thank You, TH-cam for bringing this to my attention. I've subscribed and want to see more! Marty in New Jersey. (USA) LOL
Hi Amanda I have you on the other amanda off grit too I was sure glad I found you again so sorry about you dog are uou getting another dog eventually well stay safe and well happy new year Amanda 🎉❤
You’re very self sufficient and capable. Kudos!
Totally agree! Amanda is a pretty impressive person! Thanks for checking out the video and for your comment :)
🧡 @@mildredmorine745
Beautiful, my kind of life, love the quiet! I lived on Hornby Island for awhile, perhaps not so far away. I am wondering what Amanda's response is or would be to people who might happen by on a boat and want to camp on the island?
Wow beautiful story beautiful woman beautiful life. I’m so glad you’ve found your niche in life. Will check out your channel
What a beautiful place - Amanda, thank you so much for sharing your home with us. So sorry to hear about Buttercup - I lost my lovely dog in November, so I can imagine how hard that was for you x
You need to get another butter cup!!! Whether you’re a nomad or the quiet doesn’t make you lonely, it’s nice to have a companion, especially a four legged one!
My sister lives in Anacortes. It is so beautiful up in the PNW! You’re so lucky!
You are living the life, I can understand why you are happy, you have every reason to be. I am happy for you. I don't think the owners will ever get rid of you as you are doing a remarkable job. Thank you for sharing, i enjoyed hearing about your life. I enjoyed the video, beautiful there.
Good for her! I admire people who know what they want and actually go do it. More power to her. Hope she adopts a new dog to oeep her company.
