Wow super good video. Im moving to Portugal next year. But I already did buy a house and next month I will bring my EV and leave it in Portugal. I was really stressed about what card or app I should get to drive from Belgium to the Óbidos. Because I already have a Portugese bank account getting what I need will not be so difficult. I think getting a Portugese phone number is also a good idea. 👍
Thanks for another very informative video. Only the portuguese that have not travelled outside Portugal can defend the Mobi.e system, which is completely outdated, complex, complicated and expensive. Hope the market is finally free and the Msp's can charge what they want to their customers and that prices will be as clear as in a fuel station.
Thanks again Marcus.. I have studied most of your videos before my road trip. Some leaning from my side in Audi Etron 55 model 2022…..EVIO will not work at least if you are from Denmark it might be EVIO is only for resident in Portugal. But Miio and Wenea have work for me in Portugal during my road trip from Denmark via Germany, France and Spain. My leanings is that in Portugal you often only have one charger where outside Portugal there are more chargers on each location. In Portugal I also have some problems where my own 11 kw cable as it was locked in the charger station in Azeitao, and in GALP I couldn’t start the DC charger via the Miio APP or Miio card, but I cold start the AC charger at the same charger station… and charging in Portugal is expensive compared to Denmark (3 times more expensive than Denmark). But thanks again with all with all your super input. If you come to Denmark Copenhagen, you can park for free and charge for free under my apartment in the city center of Copenhagen….
Thank you Max much appreciated 👍. I would love to drive to Copenhagen one day. The Portuguese system is not the best, and because of it the price is not always good especially on Miio. 😢. It is cheaper if you have a Portuguese electricity supplier at home in Portugal 😱.
I'm currently traveling to Portugal and we're in Portimao with an EQA we rented in Lisbon. So far, everything has been working fine for charging with Miio. My only complain is that I lived in Quebec, Canada and the cost for charging in Portugal is easily double of what I usually pay. In Quebec, there's plenty of level 2 that often cost only 1$ per hour while here so far, it's been most of the time cheaper to use level 3 instead of level 2. Sixt gave us a card for Prio Electric but I'm unable to download the app (it's not in the Canadian Play Store) and have no idea of the rate so we'll stick with Miio.
There is no Prio app only the card. In the Miio App you can add the Prio card under plans. Then the Miio app will show you for each charger which is cheaper Miio or Prio. That way when you arrive at the charger you can decide to use Miio or Prio. The Miio price changes every hour where Prio has a different price between night and day. I don't think we have any type 2 chargers as cheap as 1$ per hour 😐. Enjoy your trip.
@@marcusevjourney566 I've just received the bill from Sixt and I only did 2 partial charges since we didn't know the rate. 1st charge with Prio costed only 0.36 €/kWh vs 0.59 €/kWh with Miio on a 50 kW Galp Power charger 2nd charge with Prio costed only 0.43 €/kWh vs 0.67 €/kWh with Miio on a 100 kW Power dot charger. If someone ever rent an EV with Sixt, don't bother prepaying with Miio and just use the Prio card provided by Sixt.
I couldn't sign up for Prio because it seemed to want Portuguese residency details "something went wrong" with UK details. I wonder if one of the problems for UK people is with SEPA payments as these also affect toll tags. After some effort with failed payments even though the sign up worked, I discovered that the issue with SEPA (Single European Payment Authority) direct debits are not treated in the same way as UK direct debits and thus fail with some banks. The solution that I used was to obtain a Revolut (Starling and others do this too) account which lets me open a Euro account within the app. When ULYS (French toll) applied for payment from my registered Revolut card, it failed "lack of funds" because the funds were in a GBP account. All I had to do was open a EURO account in the app and move funds, then it worked. Portugal is on my list so this video was helpful and as a Tesla driver, noted that it may be different. Much appreciated.
Thank you, that is great information. It should really be easier for UK card holders. I know some foreigners who have Prio cards, but perhaps they have now changed the rules.
You forgot to explain that, when charging on Type2, you pay KWH and per minute. Most of the cases, if not in all, are more expensive than charging on CCS chargers.
Meanwhile in France, Germany, Slovenia and Italy i've been using Tesla chargers with my E-Tron for around 36c kwh. Kind of makes Portugal too expensive to even think about a visit.
Gosh the Portuguese charging payment splits are confusing, why not display a full and final payment price to the customer and hide all the split behind the scenes
Hello Lewis, for the best deals I don't know 👍. wattsonwheels.pt has the best range of EVs. Usually I use rentalcars.com and they have always been very good. They usually help find the best deals 😎. Apart from that the standard companies such as Sixt, Europcar, Hertz etc......
@@marcusevjourney566 could be a video idea, best EV rental for your weeks holiday? What's available from Lisbon airport for a week? Etc etc Your local insight might be a good USP
@@Lewis_Standing It is because you can use any electricity supplier on any charger. It is up to the client 👍. It becomes extremely confusing. Install Miio and it is the best for detailing the split at each charger and makes a prediction. It is also possible to add other electricity suppliers to the Miio app, so a price comparison can be performed. Also remember that Miio changes its electricity price every hour, to add to the confusion 🤣

only the Portuguese that have a financial interest with a closed monopolistic mobi.e system can defend it......there I fixed it for you
Absolutely 💯

Yes, this is true. Perhaps minute charging is difficult to estimate how much a charge will cost.

There are many chargers in Portugal that are not so expensive 👍. Plus the food and wine and restaurants are cheaper in Portugal 😂

Yes 👍
Prio as an app: Prio Eletric

Go TESLA no hassle.
It is a hassle in Portugal because there are not many Tesla chargers and they often have queues. Everywhere else, Tesla chargers are great
You also forgot to mention that Lidl also have EV chargers available...!
The Lidl charger is there at 6:40 mins. 😂. They are also on the Mobi.E network.
