      @DocSnipes I'm confused. And have been wanting to ask this question for awhile and figured you'd be the best to answer.
      You talk about HRV being about the heart being able to go up due to a stressor, and go back down to baseline, under normal circumstances.
      Then I've heard many others talk about HRV being amount the measurement of time between heartbeats, and the higher the variation, the higher the HRV.
      These don't seem to be the same thing?

    When I was deprogramming from a massive amount of severe trauma, I joined a Yoga studio and went almost every day. All the deep breathing and Yoga was great but having a community of people doing Yoga with me was also very important.

    I knew that there was some sort of benefit from jogging through the nature reserve rather than doing all of my cardio at the gym. The sounds of nature, the smell of various pollens, ohhhh, I especially love the pollen released from trees in full blossom! 😍 *BREATHES DEEPLY THROUGH NOSE* and the earthery fragrance of the prairie where the nature reserve is located. (Although at times, during a windy day, there is a faint smell of manure present in the air due to all of the activity generated by neighboring farms)

    This may sound weird but I’ve always felt that working out actually decreased my motivation to handle my mental health. I can’t fully explain it or understand it since everywhere I hear it’s good for your mental health. Maybe I’ve not been used to felling those good hormones and releasing stress that I don’t know what to do when it’s done. Been something I’ve been thinking about going to a professional don’t really see any similar experiences online. Thank you.

I had ORIF surgery on ankle AND while Surgeon had me under anesthesia,..he went ahead and did a 2nd corrective surgery on my amputation that wasn’t healing. Doc Snipes I work an evening shift and get off at 11pm. If I had a stressful day that day and wanted to experience catharsis, would the intense workout be ok for my sleep at night?

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      * Engaging in an intense workout after a stressful day can be a double-edged sword when it comes to sleep. Exercise is a form of physical stress that can release serotonin and endorphins, increase oxygenation, and boost energy levels, which can be beneficial for stress relief. However, it's important to consider the timing of your workout. Exercising too close to bedtime might interfere with your ability to fall asleep due to the stimulating effects of the physical activity.
I suggest that relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing exercises, can be helpful in the evening to clear your head and separate the stresses from the day from the safety of your home. These techniques can also help you wind down and prepare for sleep. Additionally, it's important to manage your internal energy levels and adjust activities accordingly to avoid exhaustion, which can deplete energy and further impact sleep.
If you choose to work out after your evening shift, consider engaging in activities that you enjoy and that are not overly stimulating. This could include a moderate-intensity workout rather than an intense one. It's also beneficial to allow some time to unwind and relax before attempting to sleep.
To promote better sleep, I recommend establishing a routine before bedtime, which can signal the brain that it's time to wind down. This routine might include relaxation techniques, a warm bath, or other calming activities. Keeping the room cool and minimizing noise and light exposure before bed can also contribute to a more peaceful sleep environment.
In summary, while an intense workout can be a form of catharsis and stress relief, it's important to balance this with strategies that promote relaxation and prepare your body for restful sleep. Consider the type and timing of your workout, and incorporate evening relaxation techniques to help transition from the stresses of the day to the calmness needed for sleep.

    I feel like I have tried every form of exercise there is and I have never received any type of satisfaction or euphoria or benefit from it. Any tips for how to correct that?

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am sorry you feel like you're not getting any satisfaction or benefits from exercise. Here are some tips that might help you find more enjoyment and euphoria from your workouts:
      Tips to Enhance Exercise Satisfaction
      1. Find What You Enjoy:
      - Variety: Try different types of exercise to find what you enjoy. This could include walking, playing sports, yoga, dancing, or outdoor activities.
      - Social Interaction: Exercising with a friend or in a group can make the experience more enjoyable and motivating.
      2. Set Realistic Goals:
      - Start Slow: Begin with low-intensity exercises and gradually increase the intensity or duration to avoid excessive soreness or discomfort.
      - Track Progress: Keeping a journal or using an app to track your progress can provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation.
      3. Incorporate Nature:
      - Outdoor Exercise: Exercising outdoors can have additional benefits due to the aromatic compounds emitted by plants and soil, which positively affect heart rate, blood pressure, and mood.
      - Sunlight Exposure: Morning or late evening sunlight helps maintain a stable circadian rhythm and promotes the absorption of vitamin D, reducing inflammation and improving mood.
      4. Focus on Mental Benefits:
      - Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness during exercise by paying attention to your breathing, movements, and surroundings. This can enhance the mental benefits of exercise.
      - Catharsis: Use exercise as a way to release energy and emotions after a challenging day.
      5. Create a Routine:
      - Consistency: Establish a routine by exercising at the same time every day to make it a habit.
      - Community: Join a gym or a fitness class to create a sense of community and stay motivated.
      6. Listen to Your Body:
      - Proper Form: Pay attention to your form to prevent injuries and ensure you are getting the most out of your workouts.
      - Rest and Recovery: Allow your body time to rest and recover to avoid burnout and overtraining.
      By experimenting with different types of exercise and focusing on the mental and emotional benefits, you may find more satisfaction and euphoria from your workouts. Remember, the key is to find activities that you genuinely enjoy and that fit your lifestyle.

    Theres no good reason to raise your serotonin. People with depression often have high serotonin.

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching the video. People with depression often have low levels of serotonin in their brains. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in regulating mood, and low levels are commonly associated with depressive disorders. This is why many antidepressant medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), focus on increasing serotonin levels in the brain to help alleviate symptoms of depression. Moreover, some of the reviewed studies noted that antidepressant use could potentially lower serotonin levels over the long term, complicating the narrative that increasing serotonin through medication is a straightforward solution for depression . The research emphasizes the importance of exploring a variety of treatment options for depression, such as psychotherapy and lifestyle interventions, that’s why I decided to do video that might help.
