    @5:38 This slide made me realize something critically important about myself, and I can't stop going back and forth from weeping /for/ my inner child finally being properly acknowledged, and weeping /as/ my inner child finally feeling acknowledged. Literally hugging myself.

    I appreciate these teachings. As an adult, when I get around a certain parent again, I get treated like a child, talked down to, and my inner child that was hurt over and over gets triggered and it takes me days or weeks to get over it again and feel okay and see myself right. The way this parent sees me in their mind is not who I am. So I struggle with trying to reject their filter and it damages my self image after I am around them again and yet, I dont want to cut off relationship as I love them, so I continue to struggle in this place over and over. This parent is not going to change so I my wound never heals. I am doing my best to love and also take care of my self. Some people can never treat their adult children with respect and continue to hold them to childhood. Its so frustrating.
    As I have gone through this I am also worried about the ways I am injuring or traumatizing my own children as things have been hard as a single mom and I know I dont respond to everything right. Im sure theyd say Im a hot mess. I also try to do well to apologize where I am wrong, and purposely affrirm their strengths especially if I noticed I have been on the negative side more.

      WOW, WOW..
      You have spoken directly into my life. I have a parent that treats and make me feel the same. For years I have not understood why I would feel so down, emotionally drained and frustrated after being around them. It would take weeks some times months to over come the pain. Your experience with your children, I too bare the same burden at times. I have chose to cut my ties because there is no change for my parent and I refuse 😅to allow them to continue to bewitch my mind any longer. Thank you for sharing this, you have helped me see and understand why I was feeling so down after seeing them. I really believe that they are aware of the pain and shame that they have put me through as a child, this video has helped to understand a lot. I also see that thier actions are intentionally done. I am now taking a stand, NO MORE will they abuse me with shame. Thank you again for sharing. God Bless

    There is one problem with recognizing negative emotions in others. people often dont admit to being stressed, angry og sad... I found its best to regognize theese types of emotions within self and then trust your instinkts when people lie to you (this it for protection against further abuse)

    I think this video touched me very much. I especially felt moved to the words you use "Ok. this is how you feel.", " I got this" "Let's practice some distress togheter" because i think those are some of the expressions my inner child needed and wished to hear during my childhood. I am so happy i can use them now to my little self, to other people and to my future children to try breaking the chain of unhappy childhoods in my family. Thank you Doc Snipes.

    Wow! Thanks for this! I tend to be so negative towards myself and can so easily spout any s*** against my past and present self. With this and your other videos about the inner child, I found out where my abandonment issues come from, though I can't still determine when this whole thing started as I may have been too young, it's helping me heal in retrospective, starting from my 20's, teenage years, preteen, and so on. My mom was basically forced to have children against her will so she could never love me. I think sabotaging me all the time and leaving her responsabilities on me was her only way to cope with her frustrations. Maybe I can finally break my forever single and friendless cycle. Thanks again.

      @@DocSnipes Thank you so much for replying to my comment. I think what I found most useful about your videos were the tools to get to know the inner child and also the tools you show to start working on the healing process. I've seen other videos on YT, but many of them are quite vague (like, start accepting yourself, asserting your feelings, etc.,so I say, ok, fine but how do I do that? Where do I start?) but yours are very down to earth which is what I truly appreciate (like there are actual exercises and things we can start doing, I have already started to try some of those!)

    I have been looking for this for a long time. Since Tom Bradshaw, I have had no one to help me with this. He told me there actually WAS an inner being inside me who did not want to serve anyone but herself, but did not actually get me past the many barriers to seeing who she was, what she wanted, and how to take care of her. It feels so much like home to have someone talking about this! Thank a bunch!

    I really needed this! Going through a pretty tough break-up with my Ex fiance of 5 years. I’m learning about my anxious attachment and how I’m so attached to our little family and her family because they are “together” safe and reassuring validating and loved me for who I am compared to my childhood life (divorced dad had two separate families). This helped me understand a lot of why it’s so hard and what all these new feelings are and even understand why my fiancé got cold feet and couldn’t go through with everything!

    I like how you used Windows '95 as an example because 1. I grew up in the 90's and remember that slow old computer software 2. I conceptualize my neuronal mapping like a software which was developed solely on sensory information available to me in early childhood 3. I agree that my traumatic childhood left me with this old, slow, un-user-friendly software which only helps me shoot myself in the foot and confuse people around me

    I love this lady 😌
    Thanks for the video, it was a great starting point for me to explore healing the deeper part of me that breaks through all of my surface work. Part of me thinks I developed a personality disorder from early childhood and adult years. I disbelief that personality disorders can’t be fixed or changed. Mood disorders, probably not, but if a personality is built brick by brick, then it can be dismantled and rebuilt, brick by brick. First need to inspect what it is though. This will help a lot in discovery. Then continued EMDR should hopefully help me re-organize it. Something has got to change though. Everything, really.

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's wonderful to hear that the video has been a helpful starting point for you on your healing journey. Your insight about the possibility of dismantling and rebuilding a personality brick by brick is powerful and encouraging. Recognizing the need to inspect and understand your personality is a crucial step, and it sounds like you're on the right path with your plans for continued EMDR therapy. Change is a challenging process, but with determination and the right support, it is definitely achievable. Wishing you strength and success as you continue to explore and heal.

      @@DocSnipes Some things were re-affirming, and some things offered a perspective shift. The idea that you can react through the child I have understood for a while, but the idea that there might be positive things coming from the inner child, I never really have thought about, and will pay attention to. Challenging, black-and-white thinking, or generalizations by forcing yourself to recall a time that was not the case. Understanding that I react due to past things, I have historically written it off as I’m just reacting due to my nature from those things, but never validating it. I think what you said is important, to not just notice it, and relate it to something from the past, but to also recognize the feeling as legitimate. I also was able to relate to the idea where you cannot have clear thinking and a stressful state. I’ve been in pretty much two states since I was 10 years old (37 now), and that was either stressed out, or disassociating and unhooking from feelings (numbing). Now that I am engaging all of these trauma things, it might be important for me to be present, feel the stress, work it down, and then go into working on myself. I absolutely relate to the idea that you have to be careful not re-traumatizing yourself. I did that quite a bit. I could not sleep, and I was losing hair, breaking out, binge eating or starving myself, and disengaging from life. A book called, “The Body Keeps the Score”, alluded to what was happening, but I couldn’t understand that I was doing that. One of the biggest things I gained from childhood was reading people. Subtle shifts.. the slightest change in someone’s actions or words alert my brain in an instant- down to a period missing from a text. I’ve struggled with this because my brain is always right, there was a change, but my brain interprets it through the lens of my past experiences. I think it will be very helpful to ask, and be open-minded to people telling me what is going on. I think it’s also important to make sure you know what kind of person you’re dealing with, and that they will have strong communication skills and self-awareness to actually be able to tell you. Cutting out unhealthy people has been one of the biggest helps, because now those assumptions aren’t reaffirming, and I know that those around me will tell me the truth, which aids in my growth and change. I just wanna say that the work you do in helping people and making this information free and available is invaluable. People like me who grew up with mentally unhealthy and unstable people, who were all the people I loved, really grow up and feel so nasty about themselves. Despite knowing my heart, knowing my good, loving intentions, I’ve always felt like an unworthy monster- like a piece of trash. I know have a child to raise myself, and I don’t know how to help him if I don’t learn how to help myself. So, thank you!

      I actually got a lot of healing when I envisioned a different version of my father and had him comfort me and carry me around as a little girl, rather than punish me as my real father did (I loved him very much, he was just clueless about healthy discipline when we were little). I found envisioning this nurturing version of my father for a couple of weeks did me a great deal of good.

    Reparenting inner child is the panacea for narcissism psychopath and such harming personalities, apart from personal liberation. If narcissist is trained they can also be relieved from such nasty disorders. It also retrains the victims. So retraining is very beneficial in all aspects. ❤

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for your comment! Reparenting the inner child can indeed be a powerful healing tool, both for those who have been harmed and, in some cases, for individuals who struggle with harmful behaviors like narcissism. By reconnecting with the inner child, a person can start to heal deep emotional wounds and unmet needs from childhood, which often play a role in developing unhealthy patterns in adulthood.
      For people with narcissistic tendencies or other harmful behaviors, reparenting can potentially be a way to increase self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. However, it’s important to remember that not everyone with these traits will be open to or capable of this kind of deep introspective work. Narcissism, especially when it reaches the level of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), can make it very difficult for someone to acknowledge their own issues, because the disorder often involves a deep sense of defensiveness and difficulty accepting vulnerability.
      That said, for those who are willing to do the work, reparenting and other therapeutic approaches can help them develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. Similarly, for people who have been victims of narcissistic abuse, reparenting can be incredibly healing. It allows them to reclaim their sense of self, rebuild self-esteem, and learn to meet their own emotional needs in a healthy way, breaking the cycle of dependency on others for validation.
      In both cases, the concept of "retraining" or "reparenting" can be transformative, but it often requires a lot of support, patience, and self-compassion. It's not a quick fix, but as you mentioned, it can offer personal liberation and profound healing when done with intention.

      @@DocSnipes It is so nice to have a reply to know what it feels like to have someone else's responsiveness to something about my child. It affects me in a positive way, as if I have not had that before. My mother always used my little sisters as an excuse for not paying any attention to me... or simply that she did not have any time to respond appropriately to me. She told me I could do it by my self (which I could not) So what I do is to notice that the child is someone who has not been responded to at all because it feels so new to have it... and that I am angry about that.
