    Your explanation is so helpful to understand the actions of these transmitters. Would you help me find more information about 5-HT2A -2C receptor distribution in the mesolimbic and VMPFC, DLPFC, and Insula-amygdala pathways? And can you tell me the easiest source (illustrated books, videos, or your simple explanation, then it would be so beautiful !!) to know more about the different pathways of every neurotransmitter or modulator and its functions in depth? Finally, I am from India and have a background in the good old way of teaching mukhaa-mukha patana, i.e., face-to-face teaching and learning, in Ayurveda. And I am learning about the new thought processes of consciousness, i.e., neuroscience, neuropsychology, and other disciplines. Both of us have a common topic: yoga (yogam), especially the Paatanjala school of yoga. I hope you can feel the warmth and happiness that I am having because of this "eureka moment." When we get someone, we hope they can understand and share what we know.

    would love to hear your analysis between the relationship between serotonin and oxytocin ! My hypothesis is that low oxytocin down regulates serotonin. also, I find that whenever I take a serotonin modulating supplement or even when I used to take ssri, they would work and then it skyrocket my depression and irritability after a while.

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland  หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is there an equivalent to serotonin syndrome for dopamine, or is it not necessarily dangerous in the same way?

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's an excellent question. Yes, there's a condition called dopamine dysregulation syndrome (DDS). While it's not equivalent to serotonin syndrome, this condition is characterized by overactivity of dopaminergic systems. It might occur in people who are chronically taking dopaminergic drugs like Levodopa. The symptoms include things like gambling, hypersexuality, binge eating and shopping, mania, hypomania, severe mood swings o hyperkinesia (involuntary movement)
      Thanks for asking, hope it helped!

    I am sorry my question made things a little bit confusing my doubts are : can you please tell me about the pathways of mesolimbic, VMPFC, DLPFC, Insula-Amydala: 1). How are they connected? 2). What types of neurotransmitters are acting on or modulating these neuronal networks?. Which networks have5-HT2A-2C receptors as the predominant receptors in these networks.? 4). Can you recommend any illustrated books or videos of lectures that describe these networks?

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland  12 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      Hey, no worries. Hope this helps
      1) You can divide the mesolimbic pathway into lateral and medial ones.
      Lateral dopaminergic neurons (saliency/attention system) = Substantia Nigra (SN) Pars Compacta --> lateral NAC --> lateral and dorsolateral PFC.
      Medial dopamine neurons (reward system)
      medial posterior VTA → ventromedial Substantia Nigra----> ACC and medial PFC
      *For dopamine, see this video*
      th-cam.com/video/xfjQ4R1OGhk/w-d-xo.html
      *I love this article:*
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30711326/
      2) The neurotransmitters are complex. 5HT2A is expressed around the CNS. Some rich areas include PFC, basal ganglia, ACC, thalamus, and hippocampus, for example.
      4) I wish I could. The article I mentioned above is excellent for dopaminergic mesolimbic networks, and my video explains its mechanism in reward processing. Otherwise, just PubMed.

    I just spotted something ion the chemical structures on the diagrams of Serotonin Dopamine and neurepinepherine you flashed on screen at the 1 min point. Their Amino functional groups all showed the NH2 as NH3, is this correct and another way of depicting it, or was it a mistake in the diagram or something?

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question.
      The presence of NH3+ instead of NH2 is the protonated form of the molecule. In aqueous solution, amines like the one found in serotonin/dopamine/noradrenaline can accept a proton (H+), turning the neutral amine group (NH2) into an ammonium group (NH3+).
      Serotonin, dopamine, and NE have ethylamine chain susceptible to protonation under physiological conditions. They can exists in both forms but the protonated form is more common at the body's pH which is around 7.4.
      So you may find both forms in the scientific diagrams.

      It's probably to do with the overstimulation of the receptor which disrupts the functioning of the stress circuits that causes these symptoms. Serotonin modulates almost all organs too so it's probably a complex interaction between the autonomic nervous system and the basic functioning of organs. I'd assume - haven't looked into the research yet.

    how would you naturally boost serotonin and dopamine in ADHD brain?

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Love this question! 👏
      For ADHD, natural ways to boost dopamine are the most effective: exercise in the early part of the day especially.
      Diet plays a big role, too. It should contain enough amino acids (protein) and avoid sugar and ultra-processed foods, which affect dopamine receptors.
      I'd also do attention training in some form. There's tech for this, but certain forms of meditation work.
      Regular circadian rhythm is also important.
      There's actually a great video on this topic:
      th-cam.com/video/At9Zhpfm_Cg/w-d-xo.html
      For serotonin, sunlight exposure in the morning, during the day, and at sunrise.
