I got out in august . Did 4 years navy . I was comfortable getting out because I already knew how to move In The civilian world . Born hustler . A lot of military folks scared to get out because they don’t know how to chase they own bag

God.. I used to hate that. "you want to go live a boring life". What they did not know is I grew up in foster homes and went to 5 different high schools...... MY LIFE was never boring until I got into the marines. I would just say "believe me.... I got this. I figured out who I was way before the Marines and this was just a stepping stone.".

Military teaches you to be prepared. This includes life outside the military too. That means degrees, certifications, writing a good resume, and/or having a job lined up before you get out.
I got out unprepared and it took me three months to get a job. Then I went to college. Things I should have done while I was in. SMH

It has ALWAYS been hard not being on active duty. As a simple reservist, one weekend a month plus 2 weeks a year is simply not the same. On active duty, EVERYTHING is taken care of. Food, housing, electricity, everything except for cell phone bills/bar tabs is taken care of. The most difficult part of the adjustment process is the social aspect of being alone, after always having other people who had your back, the cutthroat nature of civilian life(socially speaking) is where the most people have problems.

i was navy from 2013 to 2017 my self. Joined at 19. When you process out these first 4 to 6 mo is so strange like you mentioned. You go from living this structured life where your told what to do. To suddenly having all your freedom again. I struggled bad with that change. Def something they should prepare you for when you process out

I left active duty in '72 & knew I needed to get a college education, a career, buy a home, & start a family. There weren't too many services offered at the VA, keep in mind this was long before the digital age & the internet. I would be on hold on the phone at the VA for 2-3 hours before speaking with someone, so I would actually go to the VA to apply for educational allowances for starters. I found a job 2 weeks after discharge & didn't party or travel. I was living with my parents so I rented an apartment with my 1st paycheck.
There are so many opportunities & services today, but you need to have short & long term goals before discharge & the VA has programs today. Weeks turn into years & you can have nothing to show for it. Back then, real estate was the path to wealth, so I applied for a VA Home Loan. Credit was hard to establish back then, so I took baby steps at acquiring buying power & kept at it until I got my degree, a career job, a good credit score, & house. The family came afterwards. Times have changed. Nothing really comes easy. The Navy instilled the discipline needed to live life on my terms that I still remember. You'll find your way as I did.

because if you go in before that happens, they are liable to draft you off somewhere,
then things happen to you so that they never have to pay for anything...when you enter the military with a college degree, you go straight into having a career versus going in without a degree, you could be used for anything....
.which are usually the vets you see homeless in the streets.....

Been there. Was lost for years, homeless for a couple years. It was rough but I never gave up... For my kids. 15 years later I'm working for the Army again but in a civilian capacity and I was told I'll never amount to anything or get back into federal service.

Basically what I got from this video was go into a military with a plan and dont get some job that can’t be translated into the real world.
I took my ASVAB test and already chose my jobs. I’m becoming a nurse. I’ll be an LPN in 1 year and I’ll be closer to becoming a RN if I want to pursue that (which I mostly likely am). RN’s get paid 95$/hr plus. But lemme drop this 💯 rq

I retired after 27 yrs and felt the same way. For 27 yrs I knew what I was doing, where I had to be, what I was wearing etc. I retired and I was lost!!!! Not because I couldn't do anything but I didn't know what I wanted to do. I tried working a 9-5...that didn't work. I now work government contract. I month here, a few months there, (if the money is right) a year here or there. With retirement, disability and working when and were I want life if great!!!! Im reading all these youtube comments about the freedom of leaving, and I'm currently in the transition of joining the air force. Long story short, I been working bouncing around jobs and hustling since i was 17, I'm 27 now with a 1 1/2 year old son. My honest 2 cents as a young civilian out here is It's hard to make it nowadays in this economy with groceries, high rent, car insurance, health insurance, high APR rates on homes and cars, having the time while working full time to live and extra money to get a degree, etc...
You really need some connections on a CAREER nowadays to live a decent life. I'm a local CDL driver making over 30$ per hour and i literally feel like i work to live.
I'll be honest I dont even really want to join, but after researching the benefits and the career opportunities, it's hard to land a career with what the military offers.

Great goals!, while your in utilize your free time to learn a skill that creates income such as day trading, drop shipping, credit etc. Especially on deployment bring books to read that will teach you things not just income related but personal development also! Another tip is to live below your means and save money such as EAT AT THE GALLEY😂 hope I could help a lil bit
