    After getting just over 500 miles on my Torin 6s, I picked up the 7s. Definitely feel different, the extra length is appreciated, but the forefoot feels snugger and there's not much height in the toe box, both of which surprised me. Will see how they work out as I get some miles on them. Not excited about the additional stack height, but wanted something for longer days, as my Escalantes aren't always great as the miles tick up. Thanks for the video.

    I rotate between Torin 6 and Nike Vomero 16 and can't believe how much softer almost 10mm lower forefoot stack height in Vomero feels. After your initinal review of Torin 7 I was affraid to order them in the same size as Torin 6, but I did and I am happy with my decision.

    Great review. I think the webbed eyelets are there to add friction and stop the laces moving, so you can keep your foot locked down during the run. That's what I found with my pair.

      You could be on to something! Thanks! I hadn't thought of that. 👍

    My feet are high volume, the upper doesn't give and is on the shallow side for me. I don't get to enjoy the breathability since there's no free space inside the shoe for the air to circulate and it gets uncomfortable warm in temperatures above 5°C (or 41°F). I had to buy one size bigger than my usual because of the constricting upper and now the shoe is pretty much only for long runs because it's so cumbersome and heavy. The rubbing on my heel bone (lateral malleous, I looked it up) was so severe I was forced to cut the sidewalls with an exacto knife.
    The only good thing is that I had luck and bought the graphite colorway and it looks pretty good IMO, so it's not all bad. 😂

    Thanks for your thoughts. I've been running in Torins for years, and this is probably the first model I'll pass on. They're becoming ever more like regular trainers. The decrease in flexibility around the heel cup is probably the worst of it, for me.
    Of course, it depends on whether i can find a good replacement, which hasn't worked so well in the past.

    Nice review Timothy. Have you tried the via 2 yet? Or too much bulk?

      Nah, I'm not going to try that one. Way too bulky. I'd rather not.

      @@alainmaiquez7475 I'm generally not interested in stability shoes or shoes that provide more support. I have nothing against them, but I feel I should only review the shoes that I'm genuinely interested in.

    So much potential but the fabric is cheaper than any of their new shoes. At 150 miles I had holes forming in the upper by my medial forefoot and inside the heel cup the fabric wore through to the hard cup. At 150 miles in my FWD the entire shoe still looks new. WTH Altra!?

    Would you choose 6 over 7? They're pretty simillar but 6 have 28mm and it's better solution for me.

    • @TDMiller
      @TDMiller  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely the 6 over the 7. 30mm is too much imho.

    I have read many Reviews on Altra shoes
    - Every year all the Reviews get worse
    Please could you suggest a better Brand and a better Shoe
    - ideally Zero Drop, 2E wide fitting, Low Sides so they don’t rub on the ankle bones
    Many thanks 🙏

      Hey! I honestly don't follow the "everything used to be better" bandwagon. Yes, Altra has some clear durability issues, and they have made the shoe look more mainstream, but over the years I have seen some of the models become a lot better. We must remember, that people will openly complain about products online, but most people who are happy will likely not share it. I try to be are honest as possible in my reviews, not fake, and will share anything negative, but I have noticed people make negative (or overly positive) reviews for the sake of clicks and views.
      I'd say, try Topo. Many people switch between Altra and Topo. 👍

    What's up TD! These torins are just meh to me. I did put just under 300km in mine but they're just a little too cushioned for what I'm looking for. What's weird is if I land on my heel, the shoe gives a negative heel drop sensation. I just picked up the topo phantom 3 to try out and wanna try out the atmos. Gonna stick to zero drop for the lower stack shoes though 👍

    • @lyrilljackson
      @lyrilljackson 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      why? cus low drop is a lower % on higher stack?

    • @Dan_South
      @Dan_South 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lyrilljackson I think it's cause when the heel hits first, the foam under the heel compresses before the rest of the shoe.

    • @lyrilljackson
      @lyrilljackson 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dan_South well yeah they do be saying that. they do. like there's not a hard lock but a general round about "correlation' to "heel strike(r)=/= zomg high stack (user)".
      I don't know. i never feel like my heels strike since i started using altra 2015. maybe cus back those yrs I wasn't even touching the ground with them, but bike pedals, which then i HAVE to midfoot strike, to ..........wait for it..........BALANCE. so in my humble view, a none biker can never be a real altra fan.

    Totally agree about them looking like dad shoes. I think if Altra colour matched the midsole instead of going for white, they may look a bit better.

    My biggest disappointment of the year. When i oit it on at forst i had high hopes but after putting 10 miles on them and wondering why my legs ached after every run I gave them away. They feel dead in the midsole at 30mm. Feel too heavy. Altra just cajt get it together with the Torin the past few years
