I have 400+ miles on my Via Olympus 2. The probably still have another 100 left in them but I'm itching to buy a new pair of daily trainers. I'm thinking of the Torin 7 just for a little change... Though the Via Olympus 2 has been good to me
Finally retired them at 700 miles 🤯

Love the perspective here, Ryan. It's a little ironic, they fixed all the complaint areas ( I returned the first version of the Via), but with the rise in both Torin & Paradigm's stack, I'm not sure it is the better shoe. I agree with you that I'd like the EgoMax midsole to have a little more energy return. I'm considering giving the Vanish Tempo a try to see if the EgoPro has a little more energy return. Not sure if I'll love the slim footshape, though.

My guess is that the Via Olympus 2 is best for walking while the first iteration would be better for a light jog and the Torin 7 the best for light running/training. Is that the right way to think of this? I asked a similar question on your older video from 11 months ago comparing the Olympus 1 to the Paradigm 6 and I'm trying to narrow down what Altra to try next with the intent of finding the best shoe for walking around a theme park all day over a weekend or so. Thank you!

I have the new ultrafwd and love them for training, I'm doing a lot of weighted ruck training going forward though. I just ordered the via Olympus 2, hoping the increased cushion and different foam provides a smoother ride for the longer runs.

I am a dummy. I went in to get the Torin 7 and I walked out with the Via 2. It's nice. But I don't like the toe ie "late" rocker. But this boat of a shoe needs it because it has so little flex. It's stiff as many plated shoes with none of the energy return, so it needs that rocker to function essentially. I'd rather have it be flexible like the torin or the NB More V4 and without the rocker. I also think it would benefit from like 1 or 2 mm of drop to be honest, because many of these gimmicky "zero drop or nothing " shoes actually have a functionally negative drop. I'd like a gusset and I'd like other changes but its a decent shoe I guess. Fine for actually running in but... the rocker is just going to make your foot weak and unlike shoes that are stiff cuz they're springy these wont actually give you that boost so they're kind of dumb. I'd like better cushion in the heel and tongue in all shoes in general and just like softer and stretchy uppers. I just want something that fits and is comfortable. Any suggestions? I tried the Nimbus but even in 4E it didn't fit right but otherwise felt okay but too tight in the upper and not even as wide as 2E NB. Tried the 1080 v13 but the foam in the heel did this weird thing that felt like it hyperextends the knee so I was like nah, bye. Other than that they were good. The 1080 V12 is good tho. I have that. I'd like to try the more v4 as it's even more cush and plush, low drop, no rocker, and it's flexible asf. Suggestions would be welcome. I have OCD.

I loved the Via 1 but I’m also heavy so maybe the Via 1 is better for us big runners. I’m 240lbs average. It has lasted 300+ miles. My Hoka Kowanas were through the outsole and into the foam at 54.6 miles 😳

The ONs are a good choice for the big boys and big girls. Really soft foams and heavy weight heel striking isn't a great combo. especially in a zero drop. The only On I could wear is the hyper and go figure it costs over $200.

I just ordered a pair of the Via Olympus 2. I hope I am not disappointed like with the Via 1 for size, totally different than the other Original shape Altras I have, and an inflexible upper pressuring my toenails. We will see.

Reporting back; i have worn my new Via Olympus 2 for 2 runs now. It is a world of difference from the Via Olympus 1. The toe box is roomier now, the upper is a softer more clothlike weave so no pressure on my toenails. I ordered a second pair now for alternation between this model, Torin, Escalante, and Xero barefoot.

all the brands gotta change everything every year just cuz. it's honestly so silly. i blame consumers. like wtf man/ why do running shoes need to be redesigned every single year? It's just dumb. They need to find what actually works and stick with it for a few years at least before trying to tweak anything. But nah, it's a hype machine.

I tried the AltraFwd, they were very cushioned as well, however noticed they had a very loud squeak issue in the heel and had to return them. Have you noticed that with the Via Olympus 2?

@@RyansRunningReviewsYT I need to preface that the Torin 4.5 plush is my all time favorite running shoe. I still have 5 unworn pairs I horded. Okay, the 7. The stack height is too high. Zero ground feel. It's too stiff. It's too narrow. The heel counter is garbage and instep feels so shallow but also the tail rises too high on the achilles. They feel heavy and dead when running. I did 20 miles in them and have tried giving them away. I really want to understand why Altra got away from their quantic midsole. It was vastly superior to their ego line. They have lost their way in my opinion. I'm going to start experimenting with Topo
